Mornin' everyone!
Zoe I'll have a bowl of organic granola and a cup of dark roast coffee this morning..... Is the air conditioner on?
Currently 87°F and going up to the low 90's later..... August weather for around here. I have to load a bunch of speakers, amps, and such for the Strawberry Festival tonight. I think I will w*rk for a while and then head back into the cool house.
The city is doing the side street this morning and has already gotten half of the street paved by my house. I wouldn't want to be one of the workers out there in the sun and heat today!
Catch you all later!

I have never seen a picture of that Rio Grande #6 before. What a great looking plow that is. I'm now going to start looking on the internet to see if I can find any other photos. Wouldn't that make a great operating model? Tom

Jeffrey, I hope its a sugar thing you can solve, or something else easy, and not heat exhaustion you are battling right now. Gotta be hot down your way, too.
TAke care of your self!
I hope EVERYBODY reading this is on Guard against heat illness!!! stay in A/c or have plenty of fans running and drink LOTS of WATER!! Even you Seniors who "never feel warm" you cna get heat illness rapidly BECAUSE you don't feel the heat.
Well, I went out for the mail, but that is all I do today, besides early outing to groceries.
Hamburger Helper for dinner..unispiring, but easy and quick and doesn't heat up the kitchen to much.
Tomorrow we will have BCLOTs, or BloodCLOT for funsies.. That's a BLT with Cheese and Onion!!!
OH, KEN..it would be a shame to loose you..but I understand about the internet. we will miss you!
Well, guys stay hydrated and cool!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Afternoon folks!
93°F...... In the shade..... And I am on my way to set up a sound system for the church to use for the Strawberry Festival in the sun...... Yep, bringing several ice cold bottles of water with me. Strawberry shortcake with ice cream will be for supper.... Yep, got my sugar meds with me. They say it will still be in the high 80's when I take down about 9PM tonight. Then I have to unload and put everything away.
The installer and the salesman from the Solar company were just here to finish the final measurements of the roof. The installer is changing the original placement of some panels which will actually increase their output slightly and make a more attractive design as well. Fine by me! They cashed my deposit today so all is in order to get this done. Now we wait on all the grants, permits, and city planning board before the actual installation will begin!
I second Galaxy's idea to stay cool and hydrated if the weather is like it is here where you are! BTW, Galaxy, I like my dinner plans better than yours....
Stay safe!

What, Ray, eat out and let someone else work in the hot kitchen? I like THAT idea better too.
Our kitchen is in the front of the trailer..facing west...so the afternoon and evening sun hits the big bay window and racks up heat..even with that heat deflector window film on it and a shade pulled it HEats up the kitchen!
Still very warm out, right now sitting at 90f but feeling more like 105f, nice and cool under the A/C in the house though. I went out to Michaels earlier to pick up some paint and brushes and it was sweltering. I agree with Galaxy keep hydrated out there today guys. The heat is supposed to break here tomorrow night so I can only imagine that we will get some thunderstorms ahead of the cold front. The wife and I ordered a pizza so we dont have to heat up the house at all with the oven, plus I dont feel like BBQing
Coffee refill and a hot fudge brownie delight, please.
***Darren, very cool video. What a great experience. I'm rather partial to the flatbed. Looks like something from Mad Max Road Warriors from the front, but has a most useful back. Also good news about the fire becoming more contained. Must be a heck of a battle going on with that monster.
Eye Doc was booked solid so made an appointment for next week. Almost time for evening farm chores.
Cheers! Rob
Evening All,
Made spaghetti tonight and finished it off with a ice cream sandwich. The only time I went out today was to get the mail.
Darren- That was a neat video and if I ever get out to Colorado I will definitely go to that museum.
Ray- Stay Hydrated so you can enjoy the festival.
Jeff- Please take care of yourself.
Hope everybody has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Good Evening,
Rats, looks like I'm too late for the tea and scones. I do love warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
Seems like many of you are having hot, muggy weather. Not so here as it was only 65F today with wind and clouds. I'll see if I can arrange to send it eastward.
I also hope that those with health problems get them fixed up soon. It seems like there are many right now battling health issues in here.
I also hope that Ken's absence is a short one and he can get his job situation improved. It has been a real struggle for him this past year or more.
Ulrich, I'll be sending you a PM.
Well we finally have all the flowers planted in the ground and the pots. My wife cut down on the pots a little this year and did 50 instead of the 60 she did last year. I wish she wouldn't do so many as she has knee and back issues. We got a potting bench this year that did help but still it is a lot of work. I've been informed that we have to go the the nursery on Saturday as we need more flowers. I plan on a LHS visit as I need some cream paint for the N scale station I'm slowly working on. I tried aged white but it is just too white to replicate what CN used.
Well time to go watch Sea Patrol that I taped earlier. Yes I still use a VCR as it does what I need it to do so why invest in new technology? I went to DCC as I wanted sound as so it was a worthwhile upgrade but I don't think locos run much better than on DC. Yes you can get more control but they go around the track the same.
Just came back in from letting Robbie out as he rang his ' I want out' bell. Turns out he just wanted to run around the yard. I sometimes think he rings it if he isn't getting attention. Can't imagine what would happen if he and Rerun ever got connected.

10 hour trip out turned into a 12 hour slog. Ended up on Akron city streets and navigated by dead reckoning back onto the highway. This is the last weekend of 15 races in 12 weeks so after this hopefully things calm down a bit. Heat was in the 90's and the Kenworth doesn't have brilliant A/C. Lots of water (room temp, not chilled) so no issues there. Catch y'all later, J.R.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, large glass of unsweetened iced tea please!
I am back home after the Strawberry Festival.... Hot! Attendance was good but not as high as they hoped and down from the last couple of years. Two factors may have influenced it. 1. The heat index! Did I mention it was hot out there? 2. The Middle School and High School bands didn't perform. They bring with them a lot of parents when they do. I always had my top Middle School Chorus perform way back when. The kids got free Strawberry Shortcake and ice cream thanks to a donation from their Director.....
The old sound system worked like a charm and has now been packed back up and put away for the year. I only have the small 8 channel mixer to bring in the house from the truck tonight. I normally use it now down in the train room with the old Near Field Monitors for some decent sound down there from time to time.
Earlier today, right before I had to get down to church, the installer and the salesman for the solar system were here to do the final measuring and check out the proper hardware to use for the job. They said it would take 40 minutes. Well they were here for an hour! It seems the installer is into model railroading himself and checked my website of photos.... First thing he said after we shook hands, was he had to see it in person..... He did. Both of them like trains, they spent a half hour getting their stuff done and the other half hour in the train rooms.....
J. R., good to see you sir, and hope the race season has been a good one!
Did I mention it was hot today? Oh, yes, I Did... Right now, 10PM, still 81°F out there..... I am very glad I have a couple air conditioners here. I think they will stay on all night.....
Evening guys
Busy day for me. Wound up working a long shift, then having to go to school at night. I only had time to make myself a quick supper.
I did re-primer the nose for my GP5 while I waited for my dinner to cook. Still need to work on the front a bit. the bit where the numberboard were filled and a little bit on the front where the splice is. I suppose I should back down on the sandpaper I use for cleaning up the filler, I've been using 100 grit. I'm going to try 220 grit when I apply more spot putty because I think the 100 removes all of it.
What's fun is tomorrow is also a busy day. Work, then a doctor's appointment in pensacola (something about a chunk of my upper right arm being numb all the time and the lower arm being itchy a lot). I'll try to pick up some MRRing supplies, like decoders, Kadees, and maybe a frieght car or two. Anyways I'd better hit the hay. G'night all.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Evening Folks!
Flo, Pleases.
Well I am still here and hope to stay another month, we will see.
Got a Disconnect Notices from Charter and they are sending me E Mails now. They take 3 days to clear a check, so I guess I will give them one Wednesday.
Funny how are lives has became so dependent on the Internet. I think I got my first computer in 1993 or so. I got so I could play games. Went on line around 1995, now my whole life is depends on the internet! Heck, I cannot get my pay stubs with out going on line. (Pretty sure I could get them at work some how)
Pretty Tuckered out from the Work Front. Worked a 10 hour day and feet fared well. Kick in the butt today? I am training another manager? Funny how I can train mangers, but yet cannot get a store? Think it is time to call Neil, he is the one that wanted me to come to work here! Till I do that, Dave will keep using me to help him to do his job. Well I can understand that, I used my best mangers to help train new managers as well. But I am not a Manager! I make $300.00 a week and commission where they make $750.00 a week. Plus, when I getting them to where they can sale, they take money out of my pocket?
Back in February I posted about going Toe to Toe with a senior mechanic named Ricky. He now enjoys working with me and was tickled when he saw me back. Today he loaned me $30.00 so I could buy Shaddy's dog food. While I cannot say we our friends for life, I did what I wanted. Got some respect
Well, I will see you all later I hope.
Ken
PS, glad I will be missed if it comes to that!

Good Evening Gang,
Just winding things down here as I have to hit the sack early tonight. I have to be at work before 7:00am.
I just wanted to stop in and give a big Thank You to Darren for sharing his photos and videos of Goose Fest with us. What a great week-end that you had. I am extremely envious of all that took part there..
Certainly will take in that Museum when ever we are down that way.
Thanks also to all the wise folks involved in saving those wonderful pieces of railroad memorabilia.
I am in awe.
Blessings to all in need this evening.

It's time for me to call it a night. I watched an old Errol Flynn movie tonight called 'The Dawn Patrol'. It's a WWI flick about a British major who has to send up daylight flights regardless of their chances of getting back and what such responsibility can do to a man. If you get a chance to, watch it. My vision is still terribel and I'm have trouble seeing this so see y'all tomorrow.

Have a Great Day!!!
{Don't cha just luv us oily boirds? SO cheerful and pleasant so early in the AM???}

P.S. I have a new manager starting next Monday who knows absolutely nothing about our products (windows and doors etc). Fortunately for me he is a really great guy according to everyone who has worked for him. Not trying to make you jealous, but I do hope you are given a chance at your own store. Based on my experience (in a previous career) with coaching management types on how to actually manage people, you would be great! You have the ethics needed to succeed.
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Good Morning! from Tipton IN.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86.
JR- Good to see you still kickin! Hope things are going well.
Ken- Glad you’ll be around a bit longer.
Darren- Thanks for sharing your photos.

Gidday all, usually just cruise past the diner but just had to drop in, grab a coffee and a bacon and egg sarni , put my feet up and enjoy Darrens video. What a cracker!! , I can certainly see the attraction for those who model the Rio Grande. Many thanks for sharing.
As its now 0009 hours, Friday 22, and 41 degrees F, in this neck of the woods, I'm off to bed.

Morning All,
Just had breakfast and drinking my morning coffee. Not much on the agenda today. It's supposed to rain for the next 5 days, but we need it because of how dry it is here.
JR- Glad to see you back in the Diner. Hope your racing season went well.
Ken- Good to hear you will be here longer.
Everyone have a good day.
Good morning. 70° now. Partly cloudy. High 92°. Northeast winds around 5 mph.Vision halfway descent for now. No plans for layout work. Yesterday was a disaster. No wish to repeat it. Suffice to say work I did will have to be redone. Sometimes I feel like throwing everything out and having nothing more th do with it.Not same photo as last night but same subject.
Yuck, hot weather here. Mid 70s as I left the house before 7 AM, 90s yesterday, today and tomorrow, but then a decent weekend in the 70s.
My old AC worked, but it cooled the room way too slowly, so tonight I'll have to turn it on earlier. It's noisy, too, so I might as well look into replacing it. It's not going to last much longer, and repairing it probably isn't worth it.
Jeff, I remember Dawn Patrol. A true classic. We just watched Red Tails, about the Tuskegee Airmen in WW2. Not a "great" movie, but it was decent entertainment for the evening.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
