http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/wetidlerjr/Diner/coffee-pouring111.gifand please leave the pot on the table. Thanks!

My puter started having issues yesterday and finally crashed last night. I have a buddy who is going to look at it for me and so long as there is not some file deleting virus, he should be able to recover my photos. That is all I care about. Of coure I didn't burn any pics to disc like an idiot, so fingers and toes (even the bad one) is crossed here. I'll drop it off at his house in the next few days.

May not be on here as often until it's fixed or a new one is built. Using the old puter in my studio and it is slow for Internet use. Also this screen is small and not so easy to see, especially during the daytime glare from the large studio windows.

Have a wonderful weekend y'all. Healing thoughts to those in need.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Morning everyone from SunnyCal.  It's been a balmy 93 here for the past several days, and supposed to get to 103 this weekend.   I can hardly wait. Tongue Tied   One thing about where I live here in the northern Central Valley, if it gets too nasty from the heat, I can drive about an hour and a half and be in at least 20 degree cooler weather up in the Sierra.  I just might do that this weekend.

Oddly enough, warm weather doesn't bother me as much as it used to.  In fact, I get chilled rather easily.  I think it's a left-over from the shock my system went through a year and a half ago with the kidney failure.  Or it could just be Old Age (though I'm not admitting THAT!).   At any rate, I don't seem to run the air conditioning like I used to.  Which is nice when I receive the utility bill, LOL!

Galaxy:  I feel for you and your wife about the kitty--I remember losing Lowell to kidney failure, and he was only 13.  My vet says that you never really know when it's going to strike.  My prayers go out to both of you, it's devastating to lose a pet--they really become your children in a sense.

Speaking of cats, my 'miracle baby' Chester goes to the vet today to have his blood-sugar tested, and an FIP (I think that's what it's called) test to see if he can be released into the general population (Spooky and Uff-Dah).  Chester has been the neighborhood 'stray' for the past 13 years, he's a siamese/grey tabby mix.  He was being fed by my next door neighbor Frank for some time, but when Frank died last year, Chester kind of was left to his own devices.  I started feeding him out by the pool in the back yard, then one day I found him with a HUGE abcess on his front right forepaw.  Took him to the vet, found out he was diabetic and had cellulitus.  Had a choice, either get him well or put him to sleep.  Chose the former.  Moved him into the computer room put him on insulin shots and had to change his bandage twice a day.  Little guy just purred all the time.  VERY mellow cat.  Cured the cellulitus, got the insulin adjusted after a couple of scares, he's gained back muscle tissue and has made a second home on my lap.  So it's 'introduction' time to the other two if the tests turn out okay.  I don't forsee any problems--he and Uff-Dah have become buddies through the computer room door, and I'm sure he and Spooky will be okay as soon as Chester learns that she runs the place.  So basically, it means that I have to make sure that their food doesn't get mixed up--Chester's on an all-protein diet.

Well, that little 'kink' in my track has turned out to be a Major Problem, as it causes my Yellowstones to hang up with boiler overhang on an adjacent rock wall.  It's in a 'cut' in the scenery.  And all of my brass articulateds are 'prototypical'--only the first set of drivers swivel.  Lotsa fun.  I'm going to rip out most of the curve and replace it with EZ 36" radius track.  That's what I have on that long wide curve that traverses the Buttes and Yuba Summit, the EZ track has been there for 10 years, and absolutely no problems.  The stuff is bullet-proof, and after painting and ballasting, I can't tell the difference between it and regular flex-track anyway.  But I'm NOT going to do it this weekend with the heat wave coming.

Well, that's it from SunnyCal, have to get Chester ready for his trip to the vet.  They love him over there--the vet refers to him as the 'miracle cat'.  He's DEFINITELY on his second set of Nine Lives.

Curt:  Thank you so much for your comments on my PictureTrail account.  They're VERY much appreciated!

Best to all, prayers for those in need.

We have small storms moving through. Nothing spectacular though it is noisy. Some distant thunder and lightning. The more distant it is the better I like it. I've spent the last few days hearing lightning strikes close by and that gets old quick. I hope someday soon to be able to have enough money to get a new windshield wiper motor for my van. I'd like to be able to drive it any time instead of just days when I'm sure there's no rain.

How do? Plate of fries and a bucket of 7-Up please 'n thank-you.

VINCENT: I have no idea what the BLMA bits are made of, just what it says on their website: "A high number of BLMA products require hole drilling from a #80 drill bit (.0135").  We searched high and low for drill bits that are of exceptional quality and low in price.  The drill bits we have available are made for use in a pin vise and are not super brittle (like Carbide bits)." I still managed to break 'em all...but it took longer than with the Gyros brand I've used. Hmmmm. Turns out the Gyros brand are carbon (carbide).

I oughta get a new pin vice. I used to have one THAT let me drop the bit in to where just the cutting part stuck out. This one, uh uh. I'm lucky to get the bit in straight. About the time I get a decent replacement, I'll find the long-lost original, probably next to my missing 6" level, and a half-a-dozen other missing tools and devices.

Lots to write, little energy to do so. Good day for a nap, or so Rerun keeps trying to convince me. He's happily zonked-out under a ceiling fan...quite comfy.

As threatened, pics of the RR room:

I swear it looked bigger on paper, then I built it and somehow, things shrunk. Even more "selective compression" will be required, much to my disappointment.

Why didn't I just go collect beer cans instead?

 Afternoon Dinners.

 Flo, Beer Pleases

Senior Monument? Try A Senior Day! Went to The VA Clinic in Belleville IL today and missed 3 different turns! What should have been a 32 minute drive turned into a 1.5 hour fiasco! It was all so hot today, so I turned on the Town Car's A/C, car started to overheat. Bang Head Luckily I check the gauge every few minutes so it never got real hot. Turned off the A/C and it stopped running hot. Will check the coolant level, I am sure it is just a little low.

Got to the VA Clinic and it was a waste of time and gas. All I could do was turn in the paper work. Person that handles the paper work is off till Monday.

Work Front, am I being reward or punished? Hmm Called in today to find out when I work Saturday. Dave was not there so Craig told me my schedule. OK, I am off today, I am all so off Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  I still have a 40 hour week so my hours have not been cut. Only thing that bothers me is Saturday and Sunday is when you can make the most commissions. With this Company you never know if they are trying to help you or screw you over!

Guess I will have some time in the next 3 days to work on some more engines. Hey, K-10 is open Saturday! Big Smile To bad I am broke! Whistling I wonder if I can find all the parts to my Athearn Blue Box FP 45? Whistling

It is wtih heavy heart that I report the Vet did not have good news when she called. Seems the desired blood test results showed little movement on whatever she was looking for to show improved kidney function. THat, and she said the other thing she feared..that the extra fluids would make the cat more anemic came true. There is/no choice.

At about 2:10 MOH craddled her and we sent her off to the great beyond.

RIP Munchie.

Galaxy My wife and I know the pain way to well. Sue stayed with Tiff for the finally monument, I could not stand to stay in the room. I was out side crying like a blubbering idiot. It was hard for Sue and I to do the right thing, but it had to be done.

I still smile when I think of Tiff, I all so cry. It is hard to louse a love one, 2 or 4 legged.

R.I.P. Munchie

Storms were getting close earlier so I had to shut down for a while. There's still plenty of thunder to be heard but it's distant. I went out and looked at the sky. Not a patch of blue anywhere. No sunshine streaming through. Just gray as far as the eye can see.

Got a problem with one of my FP7's. The newer one, and it literally is new, it only has a few hours on it, appears to have a bad motor. That doesn't surprise me as the motor looks to be very cheaply made and runs hot. It's a little thing and is mostly plastic. It's a Roco built loco using Atlas parts (Atlas name removed) and pretty much matches the description of the locos made for Con-Cor in the 80's. When I say it runs hot I mean hot. It gets the shell hot. So it looks like I'll be looking for a motor I can shoe horn into it. The other FP7 is a Roco built Atlas made in the 70's. The insides of the two with the exception of the trucks is like night and day. The old one has a heavy frame and a big can motor an dthe new one has a somewhat lighter frame and that little plastic motor that's an open frame type similar to what Athearn uses.

Evening All,

Just had sandwiches for supper tonight. Flo could I have a glass of unsweetened ice tea? What's that? No, please do not add Jeff's stomach dissolver to itLaugh.

I got cleared today so I go back to work Sunday after being off for 3 weeks. I have been told it is extremely busy. Talked to Phil today for a couple of minutes today since he was on break at work. It was nice as always.

Galaxy- I am very sorry for your loss of Munchie. Please give my condolences to YOH. I am also saying prayers for your neighbors family. We have the same type issues in the skunk community. Most seem to die from kidney failure or CHF.

Sue- I am sorry for the loss of your loved one.

Chris- Looks like you are off to a great start.

Ken- Good luck with the VA. They can be a nightmare to deal with.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I'll have the BBQed Chicken with salt potatoes and a side of cole slaw.  An iced tea, unsweetened, would be great as well.

Galaxy, my condolences on Munchie!  That goes out to you, your wife, and the other cat.....  I know Manét missed old Sheila for months after I had to have her put down.  I know, you both know you did the right thing for Munchie.  Still, so very hard to have to make that decision for an old friend.....  Yes they are family.  My prayers for all of you.

I kept quite busy today.....  First the picnic at the nursery school (actually it was for the entire school - Multi-age School).  They had a Hot dog and potato chip lunch with an apple first and then there were a bunch of activities including a couple jugglers, a petting zoo, face painting, a fire truck,a couple of Dalmations (with the fire truck) and just for Gramps, across the street from the school the FGLK was replacing a bunch of ties in the tracks that go right behind the School......

After I got home, I changed out of my decent clothes, put on the scuzzies, and mowed the rest of the lawn.  Then I wrapped the presents for Livies Birthday Party tomorrow,  then got done a bunch of other odds and ends.  I still have some emails to deal with tonight...  been putting a few of them off much of the day.

Hope you are having a safe and productive day out there.

Be back later!

I was looking at the motor in the FP-7 and saw that it's skew-wound and that got me scratching my head. As far as I know such a motor wasn't very common in the 80's, so I took a long look at the Atlas releases for 1980 and later and found my newer FP7 in the 1991 Atlas release list, not the 1980's listings for the Roco/Con-Cor models like I thought. So it is an Atlas. I can't figure why they used such a chincy motor unless it was to save a couple of bucks. And why is the Atlas name filed off the bottom of the trucks? Then again it was motor and truck problems with an Atlas switcher that scared me off from them in the 80's.

The storms have cleared out for the time being but the radar shows more of them headed this way. It may prove to be an interesting and noisy night.

Evening guys

I've been sleeping off and on all day. It's weird because I slept from about 12am to 9am last night. I wound up napping from about 10am to 12pm, then again from about 3pm to 6 pm . My father says all the carbs from the italian food I ate last night messed with my blood sugar. He says the way I eat I'll have diabetes by the time I'm 40, although I'm not to sure on that. My grandfather on my mother's side was diabetic, but I don't think it's passable to offspring is it? My mother doesn't have diabeties, but then seeing Ken's issue with his toe kind of makes me a bit uneasy. I only say that because I tend to get cuts, scraches, scrapes, and such and not notice it until someone points it out. I could even bleed and not notice it until I see it or it's pointed out (such as the gash I had in the back of my leg several years ago. I have the scar stil but that sucker was about 3/4" deep, 4" long, and 1/2" wide, didn't notice it till I saw the blood all over the ground). As a friend said to me, "I understand you're pretty tough, but sometimes it borders on insanity with you"

Chris, It appears we have the same miter saw and box, lol. The CNW green and yellow stripes are an intresting touch, but I do woner if they would detract from the layout when it's built? Are those Gyros bits really brittle like the ones I have?

Galaxy, Sorry to hear about Munchie. At least he's in a better place.

Jeff, Sounds like a case of "they dont build them like they used too"

Tom, Maybe you should give Florida a try if the heat doesn't bother you. The humidity might though.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Sorry to hear about you kitty Galaxy, always a sad time when we lose are pets. I would take comfort in the fact knowing that she doesn't have to suffer anymore, I always feel upset when I hear about somebody losing a pet whether I know that person in real life or just from a forum, just makes you think about pets I have and have lost.

With all the storms you see down there Jeff do any of them make you uneasy at night when they are pounding down in the forest around you? I know Id be a bit on edge.

Jeff, Sounds like a case of "they dont build them like they used too"

You're right. They don't make them like they used to. And yes, diabetes can be passed from parents to their children. It's common in my family on my mother's side. My great grandmother had it, my grandmother didn't but my mother did. My older sister and I both have it. Of the two of us I'm the worst. My younger sister doesn't have it - yet but she's got a bunch of other health concerns to keep her busy. Mine hit me in my mid twenties and I've been stuck with it since then. I'll be fifty-two next month so that's about twenty-five years now.

Goooooooooooooooooooood evening,

Finally got last night's baseball game written-up. 27-2 in the opener, 15-5 in the nightcap. A bad night for my Clear Creek Amana Clippers.

VINCENT: The band seperates a darker 'sky blue' from a lighter 'sky blue' hopefully representing how the sky gets darker the farther up you look. Instead of blending the two shades, I had the bright idea of splashing a graphic element across the fake sky. Must be residual something from my graphic design degree...Hmm I see your point, but I doubt it'll detract too much. I'm probably gonna be the only one who has to look at it!Smile, Wink & Grin What gets me are the double-deck layouts with a large swath of Earth hovering over another swath of Earth...Mischief  I'm standing there looking at Whoville, but Whatsville is hanging over it? Confused What I shoulda done, and I don't remember why I ran the bands where I did...but I shoulda gone off even with the top piece of the door frame. It might've looked a bit more unobtrusive THAT way, more like they "belong," less like a random thought. Originally the bands were 4" wide. I cut THAT back to 2" wide each. The priming, taping, painting-over was such a miserable task, I decided THAT was THAT!

I think THAT miter box/saw is a Stanley.

With the Gyros bits, I think I can break them just by looking at them... IF I had the pin vice I used to have, I do believe they would last a lot longer, I'd be able to put the shank in far enough to just have the cutting surfaces sticking out (as somebody suggested). THAT's how I used to be able to do it. It makes a tremendous difference other than having the brackin' frackin' frickin' flickin' thing bowing and going all wibbly-wobbly while drilling. SoapBoxBang Head

Best wishes to all in need, back to w**k I go.

Good Evening,

Galaxy, sorry to hear of your loss of Munchie. While the actual event you just went through is very stressful and upsetting you did the best for your furry friend. Although their lives are short, pets do give you wonderful memories and I find that I still think fondly of pets that have been gone 30 years or more.

Morning Coffee...June 2012
Posted by galaxy on Saturday, June 16, 2012 6:56 AM

Good Morning

Today is Saturday, June 16th, 2012

Coffee PLEASE

Well, It doesn't FEEL like a "good" morning.

We have already {by 7:45 AM} picked out an Urn for Munchie, have ordered it engraved, and 2 day shipping, which should make it here by Tuesday as this is Sat and Sun. It is of a cat laying curled up like she always used to lay on top the backs of MOH's chair or the couch behind me. There are wings on the back of the urn's cat, which MOH likes because Munchie was a little angel!

MOH {and I} say Thank you for all your condolences...it is nice to know so many "share" our loss. It brought more good tears to our eyes...

Well, we both have a headache form crying so much. I was the "strong" one" until I had to eat something last night...Muchie used to sit quietly by watching the table/floor in case anything dropped. We often fixed her a little plate of what we had if we had Chicken, fish, tuna fish, turkey, baloney or hot dogs...those were her favorites and if we had...she "had" to have as well! I had chicken and it didn't taste right eating it while looking at the empty spot on the back of MOH's chair back, or to have her sitting just near the table...in case any chicken fell...she could smell it anywhere in the trailer if I nuked a piece!

Well. time to take some Excedrin and have something for breakfast.

Sad

Morning All,

Woke up this morning to dripping water. I thought a toilet was overflowing but  luckily it was water dripping in my sons tub. I still remember the mess when we had the 13 year old  house guest and he overflowed the toilet and never said anything..What a mess.

This afternoon we are taking my Dad out to a  BBQ place for Fathers day since I will be working tomorrow. Tomorrow is also our 34th wedding anniversary. Based on the events of the last several weeks we aren't planning to do anything special this year.

Everyone take care.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and…you know, I’ve had my fill of coffee. Been sittin on the back porch. I think I’ll have…a Dr Pepper please. No not really that hungry thanks.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91

Galaxy- I am very sorry to hear of the little ones passing. Though it is of little comfort to many I’ll say it anyway, you/she did the right thing. I whole heartedly agree with your previous statement about keeping a pet around for our own feelings.

Welp…Confused…. Indifferent I’ve…Surprise..nothing to say! Well..., I mean other than that.... Oh, I guess that too. Yes and I suppose THAT. And, of course that. Oh this is silly, I could go on all day.

I guess I did have more to say than I thought. Such as that. And that. And…..Ok Flo. I’ll leave now.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good morning. The temp is 78°, it's mostly cloudy and there's a 20% chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. The high will be around 88°.

No plans for today other than clearing some stuff off the layout. It seems like I'm constantly having to work on something.

 Morning Folks

 Flo, Coffee Please.

Still up in the air about how i am going  to feel today, will I feel good or bad? If I feel good, like to get the decoder installed in the 2-10-2. All so have a few engines to speed match.

Vincent How i found out I was Diabetic my wife noticed I drank a lot, (not the beer) and that is one of the signs of being Diabetic. I went in and got tested and the rest is history.

Snake Room Well Sue ventured out here today for the first time after the snake sighting. Keeps looking down for some reason! Laugh I have to wonder if the odd smell I smelled last week could be rotting snake?

 See you all later.
