Good morning. It's 45 and partly cloudy. Wind is NNE at 8 mph. The high will be 53.

Nothing going on today - yet. I'm planning on putting some over the areas that have been coated with the wall joint compound. Won't require quite as much turf then. My sale of HO items is going well. Already today I have three packages sitting on the layout. They'll be taken to the post office at my earliest possible convenience. Also got some L&A patching to do on some rolling stock.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes with lots of NYS Maple Syrup...  What?  Oh I forgot we're still out here in Clownaforalot....  Made in Oregon?  Well THAT would be fine....  Organic as well.  Great!  Don't foget my usual cup of dark roast, please and thank you!

I NEVER give out ANY "automatic deduction" from my checking acount. If you change companies they can still try deducting and it can take you awhile to get it straighten out. I also don't like the fact that the auto withdrawal may occur at a time when funds are low, and I can delay sending a check if I mail it or pay at the office until the funds are actually there.I don;t do bad checks and I don't like to play "the float".

Galaxy, neither do I.....  What I have set up is a monthly deduction from my Credit Union Share Savings.  I always have enough in the account to be able to live for a couple months on it if necessary.  Plus the transfer is figured into my personal accounting of where money is not available for other things (like a brass Big Boy...). So the money is always there for it.  I don't even use my checking account Debit Card!  I have one for emergencies, but have found they tend to mess up the bottom line.  My Credit Union also will pull funds from any of of my accounts that have $ in it if needed (has to be set up by the member).  I also only do business with companies that I know and trust!  I won't be changing Insurance agents just to "save" a few $.  If there was any problem with the funds transfer, I can have it corrected with a simple phone call or a quick drive over to see my insurance agent.  Credit Cards.....  Never have any automatic fund transfer on them!  I can go online and see what is happening with all of my accounts and do almost every day. I am a lot more worried about writing a check and putting it in the mail these days....

Have to get over to the SERRV Shop at church and finish the Christmas shopping.....

Later!

Good Evening,

yes, it is already dark outside at this side of the Big Pond.

Zoe, I´ll go for mug of hot cocoa, please. It is icy cold outside, and we got another dose of that white stuff. All of Germany is covered with a thick layer of it, and traffic has come to a near halt - just in time for the season Whistling

Have not been up to much today, other than developing some new track plan ideas, but nothing cast in concrete yet, just first thoughts.

You all have a good & safe day!

Good Morning All!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then I decided enough is enough and I need to rethink my givens and druthers because what was suppose to be a small ISL has turned into Godzilla basically from wanting more then I originally planed for Slate Creek.   Bang Head  Of course N Scale being small things can get out of hand even with the best laid plans.Of course N Scale being small things can get out of hand even with the best laid plans. With HO one doesn't have this problem because of size vs. limited space reality.

Come to think of it I never had a problem designing a small HO ISL or biting off more then I planned...I wonder if there is a lesson learned there or a point to ponder? (shrugs)

--------------------------------------------

TMarsh:

Larry- Your comment on N scale vs HO space or more acurately the lack of, is why I decided to stay with HO. I figured my wants would be too much even if I switched, so I decided to just stay with what I have and narrow down to what I really, really want.

--------------------------------------------

Indeed..Maybe that the lesser of the 2 evils when it comes to ISLs where less seems best??

I shall have a cup and look over the forum.

Have a good'un! Thumbs Up

Mourning. Not awake.

Going to help a friend witha  few things with my other half. will see how my back holds out.

The pain relief center Dr ordered a script for a pain relief patch, but it is being held up for "pre-autorizatio" from the Insurance company, natch. THe Dr, has to fill out forms then the Insurance compnay will decide if I get it or not! Watch them say no cuase it is expensive name brand. SO much for Medicare part D. If they do, I will ask Dr, for another pain reliever, The oxycontin and vicodin just not doing it, and I am building up a tolerance to it.

... it was my Insurance office calling.  The secretary tells me she has been reviewing my policy (auto) before doing the renewal and she found I can save $200 a year by going with a different (new) policy.....  It is from the same group of companies, but this plan has just come out.  She needed info from the bank account in order to set up the automatic monthly withdrawal for the premium.  Told her no way over the phone.  So I drove over and got all the paperwork done late this afternoon.  The policy has exactly the same provisions, but is cheaper.  I like doing business with these guys!Big Smile  The actual insurance agent, used to play basketball with my son in a local league.  His daughter was a student of mine way back when as well.  One more reason to do business with home town folks I can trust!  I told the secretary I wish there was a way to get THAT company with the lizard to stop sending me junk mail.....

I also know too many people who ahve to many auto w/d from their checking acccunts they are always in arrears and save for expensive overdraft protection, would be bouncing checks left and right {they actaully are, but are covered}.I have had to shut down two different checking accounts to stop eronoeous auto-billing that was cancelled, but kept billing.  I hiss and boo at auto w/d! Also, I just switched companies too, and saveda  bundle from over the comapny with the dreadful lizard, and it would only save me $5.00 every 6 mos. to auto w/d with my new company, No thanks not for a measly $10.00 a year. I wil write a check every 6 months and mail it in or drop it off at the office, thank you.

sIde note, I don't authorize any "auto repeat  billing" to my credit card either. Took me 6 months to get something cancelled off that and finally did it by filling "unauthorized fraudulent use" statements. AND never did get teh money back.

Just my thoughts and opinions and experiences.

Have  great day!

Oh, yesterday I got an offer from a "Very Big Finance Co." telling me I was pre-approved for a loan consolidation loan for up to $325,000 with low, low payments and only 2% more in interest than I am currently paying on the loan (only loan I have) from the Credit Union.

I don't know how you could have passed up that deal. Confused

The same way I pass up the ones claiming they can make my home mortgage go away. I have no mortgage. My trailer was paid for the day I bought it in 1994 (it was only 44 years old then).Laugh Between them and the auto insurance offers that can't beat what I already have for various reasons and the loan offers I won't touch because of their idiotic interest rates, not to mention my old bank statements the cross-cut shredder makes a whole bunch of confetti.

Evenin' folks!

Flo just a cup of decaf for me tonight.

Finally sitting down to take a bit of a break... This afternoon I was just sitting down at the computer to check on what is going on, when the phone rang.  Looked at caller ID and it was my Insurance office calling.

Actually got a few things accomplished on the layout today (while I was doing the laundry).  Replaced the roof on the crusher building, and added some trim.  Also installed rail in the engine house.  Have a whole list of stuff to do for THAT building, and I have to do them in the right order to be able to finish it.  If for instance I left the rail til last, there would no way to do it......  Need to do a bit more research on period machine shops as well before I start gluing things in place.

Hope you all have a great evening!

Evening all. TGIF!!!!!!

Have a good start on my Theology paper. I already have one of five pages done, and I still have all day tomorrow and all day Sunday. Luckily, it's pretty open and therefore easy to write, I'm using trains for part of it, and I'm doing in in Courier New, which fills up space faster, but is still MLA format.

Well, I'll be hanging around browsing the forums for a while if anyone wants to chat.

Robby ... You can see results of my weathering with powders in WPF. The yellow wooden GN express reefer and the Railway Express reefer following it are recent projects. The other cars were weathered previously with acrylics and with pastels.

Regarding couplers. I don't care for the plastic substitutes for Kadees at all

Hey, Lee ... I have a parts drawer full of Acumates if you are interested.

I hear that! Those Bachmann EZ-Mate Mark I's are the worst! The Mark II is better but that plastic shank just twists too easily under load. The only rolling stock of mine that they are on is the stuff I don't use much or at all. Everything else has Kadee #5, #148 or #119 couplers.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of Buckwheat Pancakes w/ Maple Syrup to go along with the dark roast coffee.

Currently 28°F here in the Finger Lakes with a high of 27°F........  Yep that is what it says at Weather.com!  A bit gray and cloudy as well with even a few little white thingies floating down every so often.

One week to go before Christmas Eve and I haven't even got the wreaths up on the porch yet.  Guess THAT will be part of today's list.  I do have almost all of the "Shopping" done for the "celebration of commercial sales" this year.....  just need to find a lovely Christmas Gift for my sister....   Luckily she has given me several catalogs with items circled to give me some very exact ideas on what she wants!  I might add she has quite expensive tastes.  I will say she has given me some fantastic things over the years (like a pair of NYC Lanterns).  She has hosted "Christmas Dinner" at her house for the last 35 or so years....  have no idea what the reaction will be when she figures out she may be eating alone....  I plan to be at my son's house with them....  We will probably just have the ordeal a few days later.Whistling  It is a year of transition for the family and I hope she will be "cool" with things.

I have spent part of the last 3 days trying to "solve" some NMRA issues for a local member.  Nothing terrible huge, but important to the member.

So!  Part of today IS going to spent in my layout rooms playing with trains!  (As soon as get all the other stuff done.....)

Later!

Good Morning All!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then I may have to go 2' wide on Slate Creek in order to get want I want and use all of my buildings so,its back to the drawing board..I set all my industrial buildings on my test layout and it looked like a wild man went amok. Some times N Scale seems to eat as much space as HO especially on a switching layout using contemporary ISL designs.I like the concept of ISL designs set forth by Lance Mindheim since they are based on the prototype..I don't know maybe I want to much but, these are all new designs and far beyond the older ISL designs which was at most a glorified "Time Saver"..I suspect this will be my last N Scale layout since I'm not getting any younger and I want it done right.

I shall have a cup and look over the forum.

Good morning. It's 43° and cloudy with a wind chill of 36°. The wind has swung around to NE. The high will be 52°. Tonight's low is expected to be 32.

Nothing special going on today. I have some rolling stock and vehicles laying out on the layout right now. I want them right where I can get my hands on them to box up when they're sold off. Anything not gone by the 24th will be disposed of by other means. Either way it won't be here. Problem is I have to work on the parts of the layout where they are laying, so I'll have to move them to another part of the layout along with some others that are already boxed. It's all doing a good job of getting in my way. Guess I'll have to store the boxes under the layout until it's their time to go to the post office. Work on my Proto 1000 F3 continues unabated. It's been cleaned inside and out, the couplers have been changed out, a Digitrax DZ125 decoder has been installed and programmed and it has been patched for the L&A. What more can I do to it. I also have to change out a hard drive in a USB case. The drive has started to make strange and not so wonderful noises so I copied all it's data to another drive day before yesterday. The drive is an old 6.4 gig Fujitsu (MPD3064AT, date 07/1999) and is being replaced with an equally old 8.4 gig Western Digital (WD84AA, date 03/2000) that has a lot less mileage on it.

Good Afternoon,

O joy - no more snow! Last night gave about a foot of that stuff, but this morning it stopped snowing. As our roads are not cleared, our attempt to take the car for shopping failed Surprise

Actually, we don´t have that much snow, but the folks here don´t know how to handle it anymore.

Zoe, just a coffee for me, please.

Lacking a victim for whom I could draw up a track plan, I played a little with the drawings of my virtual D&RGW locomotive roster. I reworked the T-12 and added some changes to the C-18.

Blackstone will be releasing their C-19 coming spring, but I am afraid I will not be able to cash out those $ 300 plus to buy one Crying. So it will remain on my "Me Wants" list.

Have a peaceful and rewarding day!

Two part Accumate Couplers, I feel those were developed by a slightly deranged evil scientist somewhere to promote the use of horn hook couplers....

Yeah! I have an Atlas tank car that came with those Accu-Mate junk couplers on it. While they coupled to Kadee's quite well they came uncoupled even easier. It wasn't long before they were changed out with Kadee #5's

Good Morning!

Coffee please. Thanks.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 24. West wind around 8 mph.
Not much going on today. Just watching Mom. Hopefully tomorrow and Sunday with Brenda home, I will be able to get out to the house and finish up and we can get that thing back on the market. If all goes even reasonably well, it can happen. (crossed fingers)

Lee- You mentioned not having any trouble with EZ-Mates. I’m with you. Actually I have not had any problems with any of the couplers out there. I take that back, the two piece overlapped kind Accumate? I‘m pretty sure it was on and Accurail kit. I did have trouble with those. Well, one. Two. They didn’t want to hold a car on a curve. I suppose I should say I don’t have trouble with most. I do choose KD 148’s when I have to change couplers for whatever reason, or if the kit has those half coupler things. But I don’t change em unless I have too. Part is “why?” the other part is….., I’m cheap.Laugh

Best get a movin. Got the groceries to put away about 1130. My own truck to unload of stuff from Mom’s house (tools and some supplies), depending on the situation I may slide out to her house for a few more things to pick up, OR! I just may slide down to the train room for a bit. One can always hope.Big Smile

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

 Good morning.

Its FRIDAY, and I hope y'all got most of your shopping done.    Jessica and I wasn't going to spend to much on each other this year.  Plus our wedding anniversary is just five days after Christmas.

Not much planned for me today.   I have a couple of "Accurail" hoppers I can start on.  Maybe get one ready for "the bay".    Other than that, just a normal day for me.
