 Evening Folks

Flo, I will take a Beer and a Big Boy Sub.

Work Front Took the written test today and got a 100%. What amazed me is how many of the collage educated people that failed. One girl thought Mother's Day was a true holiday?

Ryan At this point I don't really have a question. Main reason is I have not really tried to learn it. I have the plan that Chris drew up that I hope to build. Plus I only have the free version so I cannot save anything that I might come up with. While I while I find it a great entertainment to run a train on the layout, I do not foresee being able to afford the full blown version at $125.00.

I all so wonder if my computer can handle a fully sickened layout. I have added around 300 trees (I don't shut down the computer so I can save the plan) and a plain white ground with no buildings. I am using 820 gigs of ram. When I added a few 3D buildings I jumped up to 112 gigs and the train was very jerky. My computer only has 125 gigs.

I guess at this point my only real question is if I can get the full blown version, how much ram do I need?

A link to your site would be nice as well.

 See you all Wednesday.

Good Evening All,

Off to the museum to play with trains.

Flip - thanks for the reply. I cna go look, butTHAT doesn't ring a bell with me as far as what I might have. I will copy the list and keep a look out at the Big E next month asit's the biggest train show I attend. I'll be there at the Danbury Railway Museum booth(s) again if any of the rest of you are going (hopefully Galaxy will make it by).

Long day here again, but we''re making some progress.   CUL, J.R.

HeeHeeHee...

Good Evening...

My ICD is doing quite well--as is the incision...

Now, I am doing the same thing as regards the steam/modern thingee...well, as 'modern' as the 1980's can get. I have a couple of fellows, name of Fred 'Howdhedodat' Thompson and Earl 'Megh' Jones, who own the Williston and Exceda Hysterical Society's 'Train Museum & Side Show'. You see, there always is a way to have steam and modern at the same time...Whistling

Chloe, I'll have a coffee and a slice of that Key Lime Pie please...I'll be at the RC for a bit

Afternoon all.

Today was the last day of classes before break. We have a prayer service, locker cleanout, and other pointless crap tomorrow and then we get out at 11:30. You have no clue how excited I am.

Please add one of my mom's former students, her family, and their neighbors to the prayer list. Their entire apartment building burned down over the weekend, and they have absolutely nothing. Absolutely terrible, especially around this time of year.

Well, I'll catch you guys later!

Woah. Man. Why am I on the floor? Does anybody else smell burnt hair? Hm. Shocking.

Was Ryan here? I smell Gumbo. Wanted to say Hi.

J.R.- It is against all I stand for to admit I don't know something.....So I won't.Whistling Smile, Wink & Grin

Brakie- I end up doing just what you're thinking about. I do have a plan, but it inevitabley gets altered as I go. I'm building mine in essentially two main phases. Approximately half now,(so to speak) and half when I finish....scratch that. When I get the urge. But after at least the benchwork and track gets laid. I've already tossed and altered the track plans for the second half and decided to come up with the dimensions I have to work with, my want to have's, and place it up for suggestions. It seems others are much better at it than I.

I too have the fondness for steam and also for the modern. Luckily I Freelance and have come up with a brilliant plan to get the two together. Just do it and make up some reason. Tourist trains are the ticket so far. Later, who knows what I'll come up with. As strange as it may sound for me, I at least want the reason to be somewhat plausible. Pay no attention to the age of the cars that are used. My world, and in it......I am king.

Say, where's Rob? I'm kinda curious if he is still gonna do the volcano or if he already has.

Todd - so you won't tell or you didn't know eitherSleep

Larry - I find it's easier your way as well. Easiest to build the benchwork and basic top then fit track to that.  I'll try a combo this time of planning and winging it.       J.R.

Afternoon folks!

Zoe just a hot cocoa for me right now...

Spent all morning at Church where a crew installed and checked the new recording mics....  Only problem is that we are picking up a local radio station on one of the mics!  It is very faint and we have to have the mic wide open on the board to hear it at all.  We will take a wait and see for the moment.  It may not be able tobe perceivable on the recordings.  If it isn't we won't do anything about it.  This may be a problem that will vary fro day to day as well.  Solution may be as simple as adding a short length of cord in line with that side, or at worst there is a RF squalch unit that can be installed in line.  Ah the fun of pro audio! Whistling

I see Ryan and a couple others have been in this morning!  Good to see you back in here!

I may actually get some time to work on trains today....  We will just have to see what the afternoon brings.

Later!

Good morning. It's 66° and cloudy with fog. The high will be 75° and cloudy.

Only thing on my schedule today is layout work. I was going to do some yesterday but other things (as usual) got in the way. One thing I plan to do is to remove the shell from my F3 and prep it for a spraying of Clear Flat. That glossy shine has got to go. Had dinner at my nephews place last night along with several other guests and a good time was had by all. He found a great way to get some exercise without having to do any running or setting foot in a gym. He has an old three wheeler (200cc) he's rebuilding. Right now it has a problem with at least one of the piston rings and is getting some oil up into the cylinder so starting it is somewhat tricky and requires a lot of pulling on the recoil starter. It's also helping him to increase his vocabulary. Just yesterday while trying to get it started (he eventually did) he came up with at least three words I can't find in Webster's. We both put our minds to work on the problem (the engine, not word definition) and have deduced that the oil ring (bottommost piston ring) is either cracked or has totally broken up and is laying in pieces in the bottom of the crankcase. We'll find out soon enough. Getting it started isn't easy but once it's running it runs like a champ, though nobody wants to be behind it on the trails as it burns almost as much oil as it does gas and for the time being it does a great job of keeping the mosquitoes away. He plans on tearing the engine down sometime next week and we'll see what we shall see.

Bama- Easiest way to get that bolt out by far and GAY-ROAN-TEED to not bust a knuckle or say one foul word is......get someone else to do it.

J.R. - I'm surprised you don't know what a cookie boxcar is. Well, I'm not goiing to tell youWhistling. It's best you learn how to research these things. If I told you you, I'm told, it wouldn't be fair to those who had to spend the time finding out themselves.

Good morning All,

26 but windy with no white stuff on the ground so I'm ok with it (like I could actually do anything about it?). I'll have a regular and a toasted blueberry muffin please Zoe.

Ulrich - you need a big snowplow on that locomotive ! Wow youse guys have a lotta snow

Flip - ok I'll show my ignorance and bite. What's a cookie boxcar?

Lee - If Jeff complains probably the only thing that'll happen is the post office will put him on the hazardous delivery list and force him to get a P.O. box so he has to climb the stupid steps every day.

Bama - If all else fails, we've managed to brace a breaker bar on the floor with the correct socket on it and have broken the offending bolt loose by rocking the car gently until it gave up. THAT's assuming you can gain access to do that. Some of those sidewinder cars are not easy to get at.

 .

Gotta run as usual - lots to do and little time to do it.    CUL, J.R.

 Good morning.

Just snow flurries this week, and maybe a small snow storm Friday night - Sunday.

Not to much planned for me today.   Probably just take it easy and mess around on the layout later.

 Have a good morning.

Good Morning! Coffee and biscuits and gravy please. Anybody seen Bill?

I…am…in…a…gooood mood today. (So far.) I don’t know why, I just am. Maybe it’s just knowing I don’t have to work every day all day or as much as I can at Mom’s house. Loading dumpsters endlessly from the same house. Constantly haulng things from what appears to be a bottomless pit. Just a few odds and ends left. Like today. I think I’ll bip out there for a few and clean a toilet and a sink and a tub. I have to go to her bank anyway (she banks in Riverton for some reason. Oh yeah. It’s closer to her) so I’ll be driving right past the house.

Speaking of Mom’s house. Put the For Sale sign back up yesterday. Yup. The Realtor was pretty stoked. ( I wonder if the kids today who say that word know what it really means.) He says he and several other realtors have a listy of people waiting to see the house. I hope someone feels we are asking waaaaay too little for it and doubles the asking price. Possible, but somehow I doubt it.

You know ladies, I’m really not one to get into other peoples business unless I’m standing in line at the Walmart, but really. Just because Barry has this new "put your heart back in rhythm" thing, doesn’t mean you should just chuck things and try to scare him because you think he’ll get zapped back into pace again. It’s almost like you want to see him get jolted. What, you think the thing is like a joy buzzer or something? Let's just be nice and let him get healed up and them get the thing tested and all to make sure it works. OK?

Then you can scare the begeezus out of him if you want.

I’ll just set over here, NOT next to Barry in case the thing goes off. Might get shocked myself.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Good Morning,

Holly Toledo Ulrich!  I saw the news last night and there is more snow in England and Germany that you can shake a stick at!

Jeff, I would post your rant on the www.usps.gov site and see what happens.

We have a possibly large storm heading or way, last night it stretched from Manitoba to the southern border of Virginia/Kentucky.  I plan on driving to Toledo Saturday, might be delayed until Sunday if this is all snow.

Had the oil and fuel filter changed on the truck last night for $210.00.  Fuel filters are expensive but the shop gave me a free (extra fuel filter) one with the service.

Work Front I have my first written test today on Company Policy's. I don't think it will be much of a problem. The day moves right a long while at work, I hate being bored. Just hope there is some money to be made.

Lunchtime in snowy Germany!

Last night brought us an additional 12"! Most of our airports are closed, and even rail services is at stake - bad times for this country.

Janie, just a bowl of hot chili, please, and a coffee to go with it.

I am somehow stuck in the preparation of the business plan, as vital information is not available. I still hope to be able to meet the deadlines.

So, instead of working on the business plan, I fooled around, drawing another loco. Here is my version of a D&RGW K-27:

It was quite a feat to draw, group and assemble close to 1,000 elements to look like a K-27, but a think I have captured it nicely.

You all have a good day!

Good evening all, just a RBF for me.  Been a long day today.  Started out this morning with trying to help a friend remove a broken bolt out of the intake manifold of his Ford Taurus.  After that failed and we dropped the manifold off at the local machine shop.  I then proceeded to my next job, replacing a crankshaft position sensor on a Honda Civic, should have been a 2 hour job...no dice, everything is ready to come loose with the exception of the harmonic balancer bolt.  Apparently 160-lbs of air and a good soaking with PB Blaster wouldn't make it let go, so I dropped back and punted on it.  Resoaked the bolt and will try again in the morning....hate when jobs are supposed to be easy and turn into real pains in the rumpus.

Okay, rant over.

Sorry that I wasn't able to do this earlier but a very happy birthday to Tiffany, hope that she has many more happy, healthy doggy years.

Welp, guess I'll check out everything else, then hit some dishes and then off to bed for me, I have to be up at 5:30 tomorrow mornign to go and give that Honda another try before I have to go to my "real" job (Advance Auto Parts).

Later taters!

I hate Illinois winters. All I get is drifts. On the bright side though I get alot of fun and watch people who don't know how to drive a 4x4 get stuck.

Tiff say's Arf Arf, that is code bark for Feed Me! Big Smile

Just got of the phone with Bank Of We Don't Tell You The Same Twice Of America! Seems they will no longer take partial payments on the house? Even if two payments in a 4 week span is more than the monthly payment? Plus, I cannot get my VA loan Modified unless I am 12 months or less behind.

If that is true, then why had they made me jump through all the hoops last time and was told the only reason I could not get the loan modification was because the state of Illinois would not give me a letter stating I had 12 months of unemployment?

Just been sitting at the computer finishing up a project I forgot I need to have done by early tomorrow morning........

So much for the train room....

Checked out the Finger Lakes Crimes Times Website while the computer was burning a disc and found an article I had missed scanning through it earlier this evening in print form.  Next time you diners are really looking for a cost effective but great place to have a vacation...  Try us out right here in the Finger Lakes.  Ranked #5 in the world!  And have a Glass of Gold Medal winning wine while you are here....

Ray- You may not have gotten the actual conversation correct, but the perception and what really happened you were probably dead on!

4 wheel drive many times only adds $100 to the tow bill. Remember that you young whipper snappers. Been there done that, got the T-shirt. (actually no, I've never been towed out, but I wanted to say that)

Ahem, It's Hand-i-cap.

EDIT: Looks like suppers on me. Order up! I'll have the pizza buffet myself please. Dr Pepper on the rocks thank you very much.
