Evening gang!
Flo, I'll have the hot turkey sandwich with mashed taters, and a fresh garden salad. Oh, any more of THAT great German Beer Ulrich brought in yesterday. OK, I'll have a stein of THAT as well.
Started packing for the trip. As usual, I have some help....
(Actually photo is from several years ago, but he still "helps" me pack........ I start to get the "Daddy, you goin' out?" "You leaving?" along with them both being very lovey to see if they can prevent me from going......
Got some more green beans canned today along with some cleaning up the pig pen house a bit.
Galaxy, that is terrible about your friend! I'll keep her and you folks in my prayers........
Catch you all later!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO
We'll get there sooner or later!
Flo, just a Grill Cheese with onions and pickles and a in a frosted Monon mug.
Galaxy glad to see you back at the dinner, but sorry about the news. From my family.
Boy it been one of those days! Bank of America is willing to refinance with me being out of work. That's was sort of good news! But, I have to have a letter from the state of Illinois department of unemployment stating that I have 12 months of unemployment coming. Illinois is currently has 99 weeks with extinctions approved through congress. And I do qualify. But, because congress and pull the funding, they will not give the needed letter! I all so spent 2 hours waiting to be told NO again.
Here is the part that really drives me nuts! If I had just started a job, making what I am making on unemployment they would do the refinances? Lets see, I have never been hired and guaranteed I would have a job for 12 months. Heck the last job only lasted 8 weeks, but if they where doing the refinances then, they would have done it. And, I was making $100.00 less than I am now?
Train Front, again good news and bad news. Called Digitrax a hour ago about my DT 400. Brenda said it was being shipped today and I should have it Saturday! Plus I was not being charged! Looks like I can get another Athearn SOO Covered Hopper Thursday! Then I asked Brenda why I was not being charged? I did not have the receipt, and it was out of warranty anyway. Brenda said "because there was noting wrong with it". Dave seems to think the + key was stuck down. I did bang it on the desk a few times hopping something was stuck. She could not tell me if Dave opened it and cleaned it or not.
I know it is not my DB 150 because I tried it on K-10 layout using a DB 100. Did the same thing as at the house. I just hope they opened it and gave the guts a cleaning. Maybe it just wanted a little vacation in .

jeffrey-wimberly Later this morning I'll be taking my father's car to the repair shop. Last month he ahd taken it in to have the a/c serviced. It was doing a very good impression of some of the local politicians, blowing hot air that is, and was getting him hot under the collar. Turned out the compressor had to be replaced. The work cost $600 but the a/c worked quite well. Until yesterday that is. He turned on the a/c only to find that it's putting in practice for running for political office again. All he got was hot air and more hot air. He's hoping that he doesn't have to pay a bundle to get it fixed - again.

Hey Jeff, What kind of A/C compressor do you need? Reason is that I have a Jeep cherokee in the back, I was going to convert the A/C to compressed air, but if you want it, you can have it.

Hi guys,
I was stunned by the news on TV last night just about dinnertime:
So, please Say prayers for a friend of ours and her family.
As near as can be surmised: a fire started near her easy chair in the LR by a frayed lamp cord at about 2 AM. She got up and started for the door, but had a medical issue {she had a bad heart} and collapsed a few feet from the door and died before the fire got really started, or before it got started. They found her a few feet from the front door and autopsy determined that she didn't have smoke or particles in her lungs so they think she died before the fire, Or it could have startled her enough when it caught that she headed for the door to get out but died before it got going. A neighbor who got up to pee saw the flickering lights in the dining room and called the FD just after 2 am, and the fire was contained in the LR...
They thought she died in the fire or caused by smoke inhalation by the fire until autopsy apparently said no particles were found in her lungs. But it doesn't make much sense her being near the *largely unused* front door dead and then a fire magically starting? Unless it was God's doing to get her help when she needed it but arriving too late? A little mysterious.
Anyway her death is now considered of a medical issue and the fire ruled accidental by the frayed lamp cord. The news later did not say what the medical issue was, she was also diabetic. Still mysterious.
So please add to prayer lists her and her family.
Jeffrey W. well sounds like we need to add you to list also, if you think you broke your foot again better have that looked at as soon as possible!

Oh joy! I think I broke my foot again. This makes the 13th or 14th time now. Speaking of things unwanted, there was no rain in the forecast this morning. Now all of a sudden we have a 50% chance and a thunderstorm is moving in.

Lunch time already.... Zoe I'll have a Reuben Sandwich and a RBF.
Robby P. Ray......I wish it was the last day of that here. I just went down town, and they have it all torn up. I seen a magnet of Pennsylvania that said "this is how I spent my summer", and on it has orange cones, road cont. signs, detour, helmets, etc....on the magnet. I was thinking "at the the truth!!!".

Now, now, I did say "Last Official Day"....... Oh yes we have a lot more to go of THAT around here as well.
Later!
Robby P. Ugh!!!!!!!!!! I don't know about other people (diners), but our house/neighborhood is infested with STINK BUGS!! The out side of our house has at least 100+. Can't get rid of them!! They are coming in by the front door. I sprayed some orange cleaner, and they seem to hate that. Really nothing you can do about them. They are driving me NUTS!!!

The problem with the a/c on my father's car seems to be a bad pop-off valve on the compressor. The shop has ordered a new valve.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Noticed the van was running a bit rich this morning. I closed the needle valves up a 1/2 turn each. We'll see what that does. It starts a little faster now. I'm glad most of the anti-pollution stuff that was on it has disappeared over the last 30 years. Makes it easier to work on.
Mornin' everybody!
Zoe I'll have a Breakfast Bagle with cheese and a cup of Dark Roast Coffee in a R&GV RR Mug, please and thank you.
Ah, another beautiful day here in the Finger Lakes...... "Drip, drip, drip, drop, drop, drop, dribble, dribble, dribble, drop, drop drop....." (Rainy Day in Utica New York, from the Dr. Seuss Songbook) Glad I finished the lawn yesterday. Currently 68°F with lots of, as Barry would say, Dull going on. (Where is Barry, BTW?) High will be all of 73°F sometime this afternoon and the humidity inside the house feels like 110%. The next couple days are supposed to be in the high 70's to the mid 80's during the day and in the high 50's at night.... Since I am going to the Large Scale Train Show in York, PA tomorrow and won't be back home until Saturday, I don't know whether to leave the air conditioner on or the heat on......????
Robby, ah..... Hmmmmm...... Oh! I know since this is the last official day of the season called "Road Construction around here, tomorrow would start Almost Winter, right!
Welp! Got to get the house somewhat straightened up before I take off for PA tomorrow. Best get to it.
Good Afternoon,
Zoe, I had no lunch, so I´ll go for the burger platter and a RBF, please.
Petra is still at the GULAG and I expect her to be back in an hour or so. Spend all morning doing household chores, like laundry, ironing, dusting the furniture, vacuum the carpets - all those fun things. Will she notice?
Todd - what did you do to get rif of your sour mood? I am still battling my depressed mood, but with no success. My doc gave me some of those pink pills which are supposed to make me happy, but I have the feeling that they effect just the opposite. I desperately need something positive to look forward to, but there ain´t anything in sight.
Jeff - there are many politicians where I would like to change their compressors - it´ll be a painful experience for them, you can bet on that.
Presenting your ID when shopping -.sounds like a lot of BS to me. Although we just recently changed the legal age for alcoholic beverages from 16 to 18, it is still handled a lot more liberal than in the US. In Bavaria, beer is still not considered to be alcohol, but plain food, and you can see 10 year olds sipping on a beer - with one of their parents present. When I was an exchange student in the US, I was able to enjoy a beer also, as the local sheriff has issued a "special permission" - he had spent his Army days in Germany. Made me fairly popular at the high school...
Need to get started on supper, so it will be ready when Petra´s back. It´ll be spaghetti today...

Gooooood late morning. It's going to be a warm one today, and its the last day of summer. Well us "northern" people know whats around the corner!!!
The mechanic didn't get a chance to change the plugs so I just finished doing it myself. So far so good .
Thanks for the comment on the car. I honestly looks better in person. You can see more of the detail work. Maybe in the next few weeks, I can see what else I can find in PRR. I need to make my way to the basement. I haven't made it down there yet.
Lee......I was going to have some cars with prices to see what I charge for a car (custom work). I'm letting the wife worry about that!! I just tell her the prices, and she can deal with the tags/making pictures/keeping up with the money/etc...
Todd.......I hope they do sell. The LHS owner did say I could sell on his website, and store. That will get me away from eBay fees. He and I will have to talk money. He did say I can put a car on his website for a dollar!! Display....Well he and I will have to talk about it.
Jeff........Hot air/politicians, I completely agree. I just paid $1,500 to local tax, school tax, and city tax. I wonder where that money is going .
Well I'm off to the basement. I have a lot to do!!
Galaxy- Carding the enire party, if they are doing it there, will probably be the next step here. I, personally, think it's silly. Most underage sit in the car when someone goes in to buy for them. We used t........ I mean I would suppose that's what they'd do.

jeffrey-wimberly der5997: Jeff: Would you believe I still get carded? Heck, I'm 50 and I have enough gray hair to make a quilt! ...In three Nova Scotia University towns this September all customers at the government liquor stores (there are no alternative private stores) have to show ID, regardless of age. It's an attempt to cut down on underage drinking. Don't know if this makes you feel better - your situation sounds like discrimination to me, big time! Here it's a common practice as the carding age is up in the 40's for alcohol and tobacco products. You must be at least 21 to purchase either and the penalties can be steep if it's found that someone is purchasing for a minor. Wal-Mart is quite strict about it. I've seen instances where people were banned from the store for such practices.

Here in NY at the grocery store where my other half works, they have to proof EVERYBODY, a sign at the register says so, and the register will not proceed until the ID number is typed in or scanned. ALso it is generally a practice at major stores around here, particularly the Walmarts and Targets, that if the purchasing party has someone with them {who they may be bying the alcohol/tobacco for}, the other party {who may be underaged} Must ALSO be proofed! Not sure if it state law here or what, but that is the practice! So when we are grocery shopping and my other half wants beer, we must both be proofed because I am with in the line.
WEll, off and running...er ah a nice paced walk...

Good Morning! Coffee and a stack of buttermilk pancakes please with Boysenberry syrup thank you. Oh and some sausage patties. I’m in a muuuuuuuu-UCH better mood today. Been in a sour mood for some reason the last couple days. Don’t know why. Don’t care. I’m over it now. Maybe I'm relieved for Brenda the festival went well and just a build up getting released...... maybe gas. Who knows. Robby- I wouldn’t worry about selling the cars you weather for the show. You may sell them all, but if for any of the many reasons on that day you may not, like they said. E-bay is your friend. As is the LHS. Or is it NS-LHS (Not So Local Hobby Shop). I don’t think you’ll have trouble getting rid of any of them myself.

Jeff- Same up here. Underage drinking and smoking is no worse than it ever has been but the fines….. THAT’s a different story. Like down there, it is almost becoming standard If you don’t look at least 40. Show some ID. Started with Walmart and spreading around to other stores. Actually, sad to say, I rarely get carded. (chuckle)
Ken- Yes, the hopper looks really good. Don’t know about Intermountain kits. I’ve built and still have a few unbuilt (imagine that) Branchline Blueprint kits which are really nice, but don’t know about Intermountain. I would think they would be among the higher quality ones. Maybe not.
DerJohn- I like where you are going wih the scene.
Rained abooout a half inch last night and it just quit raining again this morning. Pretty good shower. I haven’t been out to check the gage so I don’t know how much. Fields should be nice and wet so I dooon’t think Brenda will be working late tonight.
Welp, best get out to Mom’s house. Lots more stuff to do. Hopefully the counter top people will call today and be able to bring the counter tops out.
Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!
Morning Madison IN!
Flo, I will take a Western Omelet, Hash Browns extra crispy, side of Ham and a English Muffin.
Thanks for the kind comments of the hopper.
Is Inter Mountain suppose to be a higher end kit? Reason I asked, I am rather disappointed in the quality of the kit so far. Yes there are a lot of parts, but noting fits well after I got the main body together. The small parts fit worse than a Athearn Blue Box. The trucks that came with the kit are pure junk and had to be replaced with Athearn's.
Other complaint is the parts on the spur's are not marked. If the instructions calls for part J, there is no J on the spurs. Most of the time it was not a problem, but I am on the ladders now and cannot tell which section is which.
It been a interesting experiences, but it is very unlikely I will buy another one of there kits.
Got to run, hope to make it by for lunch.

Good Morning, Robby If you can’t make enough for a show you can always have samples on the table for people to look at and then give them a price sheet and sell them through EBay. If you can; find a local modeler that has operating sessions and take a string of your weathered cars to run that night. This weekend I have to go to Detroit (Macomb TWP) to get my daughter a new ID card and the 1st and 2nd is the NMRA DIV4 show in Berea, OH another busy couple of weekends for me.

Good news too I bring:
A few months ago, ITM made a startling discovery. As they prepared to wade into Noblesville's streets, where the track cuts the turn laine clean in half, the engineer pulled the lever to GP9 number 200, and was greeted with a rather unfamiliar "PFFFTTTTTTTT". That sound, meant someone had stolen the horn off the top of the locomotive the preceeding week.
Well, that horn has been located! Somebody, in whatever infanite wisdom, shoved it in a tree, and while the school was cutting or trimming said tree, the Janitorial staff had the sense to go "That's a train horn. I wonder if the museum needs that?"
HELLS YEAH WE COULD USE THAT... So needless to say, the volunteers are all doing happy dnacesm because the horn we subbed in for 200 sounds like a dying rubber duck, and we can get a volunteer's rental horn off of there and back into his own hands. (His sounds good, but it is after all his)

Howdy ... Happy First Day of Fall!
Where's the beef? ... It's gone! Ken. Jeff. Ulrich. Vincnet. TSF had both the beef and some meatloaf. What a bunch of chowhounds. .... I'll have some pie and decaf.
Sam ... Great News from you!... Sounds like things are working out fine for you with VRE. It's been a long time now, but I recall Washington Union Station is very impressive.
OK, Der John ... Explain how you know that was one of Bill T's friends with the lap top.... This has got to be good!
Ken ... The hopper progress looks good.
Robby ... I like the PRR boxcar. I thonk PRR stuff should sell well in your area.
Ray and Lee ... You were talking about NMRA.... I' m much closer to Nashville than Indianapolis, but my division is there in Indy. So, I've never gone to one of the meetings there.
Der John .... I like the progress on your layout.
I'm worried about something. I like to kid around and have fun teasing people as well as poke fun at myself. When Galaxy was mentioning bad typing, it reminded me of my bad typing. I was kidding about how bad my typing was, but I may have caused him to think I was picking on him. Not my intent. I like reading Galaxy's as well as all of yours. What do you guys think?
I worked more on my power house today. It is close to completion.

Flo, just a cup of decaf for..... Oooooooo? What is that Ulrich has over there? What? A whole keg of Boch! Well I best go over a help those guys consume it now hadn't I.
Well.... A deep subject. Been busy all day, but I can't claim to have accomplished a whole lot. We got the sound system up and running at church this afternoon. The hearing assist system is back in operation, and the mixer seems to be back to normal. One weird thing is that the wireless mikes now are not cross talking... Couldn't get them to produce the problem. It will most likely start up again on Sunday.
Finished the lawn, and hooked up the amplifier I bought for a little of nothing about 2 years ago to use with the Alesis Near Field Monitors by my Mac G5 (Old mixing space). This is the second one of these as the first had a bad hum in it. Dead! Don't work! It has departed this life. Deceased! Last time I buy anything from THAT company! So I'll save it for recycling. I hooked up the old trusty 12 year old (or so) Stewart 100w amp. THAT works fine. I was planning on hooking THAT up down in the train room to play steam sounds..... THAT would be through my old set of Traynor Near Field Monitors. Just a bit of a step up from playing MP3s through a 3/4 inch speaker in the locomotive............ I'll just have to put THAT off a while longer.
Tomorrow is packing day and clean up the house a bit.
Catch all of you later! Huh? Refill? Why sure.........
Good evening Diners: Tea for me please and thank you.

Ken: Thanks for posting that shot of the hopper hatches (OK, it was the walkway supports you were showing, but the hatch hinges also caught my eye. They look more complex than the representation on the only long-hatch hopper I have. Just three hinges per hatch. None of my cylindrical hoppers have grain hatches , as is seen on the right, they are round.

I couldn't see any speed past 45 at night and it will be nice to be able to see the fuel and ammeter gauges and the high beam indicator. Mind if I join you for the Roast Beef? I have brought some German to go with it.

Me three. Even if I'll get carded several times. I'm 21 and can still pass for 15 (very bad when dealing with females ). In fact once a cop pulled me because she thought I was an underage driver...
Messed with some trains for once. My modifications to one of my Kato Century frames are going smoothly. Just need some buy some flathead 2-56 screws and countersink them in the bottom so the trucks can rotate. The other one I'll have the screws come from the top now that I am aware there are 2-56 screws long enough to go that way. The one that's together cogs really heavily at low speeds, dunno what's up with it. I'm thinking the motor or decoder (NCE DASR) could be the culprit since I cleaned out and re-lubed the trucks. Haven't tried it with the new Kato motor I ordered.
Also messed with my non-sound U28B again. It was cogging a bit, whirring in reverse, and the lights mysteriously quit working the way I had set them. I took then unit apart, relubed it and swapped the trucks around. The cogging went away and the whirring went down alot. I tried messing with the decoder settings to see if it could reduce the whirring and ended up having to reset it. After an hour of messing with the lighting functions I got it work the way it was before
Ken, hamburger helper isn't always so bad. Looks like that hopper is coming along nicely. I had to send my DT4R in last year around Christmas. I got it back in 2 weeks, and it's supoosed to be a busy season... Granted all I needed was a dial and an end connector (the plug in part would't stay plugged it), and being an hour's drive away may have helped.
Robby, that one looks really good.
