Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of buckwheat pancakes with NYS Maple Syrup and lots of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.

Thanks Garry, and TomTom, the two photos you posted are of the FGLK Trackage in Himrod, NY.  Himrod at one time was an interchange between the NYC and the Northern Central Division of the PRR.  I think 3 of the four legs of the X created are still in use.  You can see the original trackage in this 1899 Topographic Map of the area. http://docs.unh.edu/NY/ovid02sw.jpg  The Northern Central made its way North from Himrod to Canandaigua, NY where its trackage ended and South to Watkins Glen.  The NYC tracks came up through Dundee, NY to Himrod, and then ran to Geneva where it connected with the NYC Auburn Road.  The FGLK uses the NYC (now NS) track to get to Himrod and then the old PRR track to Watkins Glen to serve the Salt Mine there.  FGLK now owns the part of the of the "Auburn Road" it uses to get to Solvay, NY (Syracuse) and the old PRR tracks into Watkins.

A couple more shots I got yesterday.  One more of the Rockville Bridge (I love THAT bridge....!):

And another of Himrod:

Todd, I DO like my Canon Digital Rebel.  THAT said most all the DSLR cameras out should be able to do manual focus, at least with most lenses.  I would suggest you go someplace where you can pick up and hold the cameras to see how they "feel" in your hands.  Once you have purchased the camera, spend some time learning those things you know you will want to use.  There is a definite learning curve.....  For hobby w*rk, a good tripod is a must as you will get far better photos without using the flash.  THAT is where a DSLR shines.  You can have complete controll over all aspects of the camera.  Have fun!

Jeffrey, you mean THAT isn't a "Hood Ornament"?

Welp!  I best be getting going here.  Have a bunch of things to do.

Later

Good morning from the Birthday boy! Another year older, but not much wiser as I think Alzheimers is setting in!

Awww, shucks!  Thanks for all the b-day greetings! Keep 'em coming!

Today is also my uncle-by-mariage's  birthday as well! {he married my mother's sister}. What are the odds of THAT happening? Will Smith, Barbara Walters, Michael Douglas also celebrate today! {Superman Christopher Reeve used to celebrate}.

The roast duck with raspberry glaze last night was fantabulously exquisit! It was just what the Dr. ordered and cooked to near perfection, as perfection would have had it falling off the bone as we ate and it didn't quite-but very close. Was juicy and tender and tasty, oh my! We had wild mushrooms au gratin encrusted with crumbs and cheeses for appetizer and the duck was paired with lightly steamed carots, zucchini and yellow squash with garlic mashed potatoes. We also had a nice salad of fresh field greens topped with house dijon vinegarette. WE each have enough left over for tonight's dinner already. I had teh complimentary b-day vanilla icecream "parfait" with chocolate sauce and my other half had creme broulee. My what a meal!

Robby P. there are so many September babies as it is conveniently exactly 9 months after Christmas! Talk about your delayed Christmas present delivery!

Jeffrey W. looks like the van is coming along nicely. What IS that  hood ornament out inn front on it though???

Went to CPR {Center for PAin Relief} to get injections yesterday. Today hurts worse than the pain in my back to begin with, I think.

Well, I have some chores to do today. So i'm off and running for now...or at least hobble walking....

Galaxy .... Have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY .......

Gav .... Good to see you! Please visit more often.

Ulrich .... Those cakes were so creative, it woul be a shame to cut them up to eat.

Ray .... Thanks for posting the link to photos. They are inspring for making scenery.

Jeff .... Hey, who's that guy with the van?!!!

Everybody .... Thanks much for the comments on my photo. I appreciate each one. I had fun with the photo.  I normally take pictures of diesels because most of  locos are diesels. This loco is a Heritage 2-10-2, and I do like this engine very much.

Reminds me. Has anyone heard from Fergie? He had quite a fleet of 2-10-2's, and we were kidding him about that. Photos he posted of his modeling were excellant.

There are a lot of other MIA's too. I hope each one returns soon.

Ray,

Looks like you guys had a good time. Those are some nice pictures of the old Rockville Bridge, but for some reason these two caught my eye. Maybe it was just the serentity factor, I don't know.

Good Morning! Coffee please and a couple eggs scrambled on top of hash browns all covered in sausage gravy thank you.

Today:

A 30 percent chance of showers after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. North northwest wind around 6 mph. Tonight: Rain likely, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Northeast wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Galaxy- Happy B-Day

Charlie- Your Mother is in my prayers. I sort of know what you're going through. My Mom is needing more and more attention also.

Gav- Your…….whatever the things called under your signature, describes my life right now to a tee! I’m trying to do everything at once and ain’t a gettin nowhere.

Ray- Beautiful picture. It really is. I’ve got my eye on a couple cameras at the Walmart. One is a Canon Rebel, not sure the rest, and the other is a Nikon something. (Laughing) As you can tell I was just flying past the camera dept on the way to the grocery store part in one of my Bonsai runs through for Mom. I usually keep my eye on the camera department as I walk past looking for a DSLR. These two were $499 each. The Canon seemed to have the capability of manual focus, where as the Nikon didn’t appear to be able to do that. Further research is required. I really wanted a Pentax so I could use my existing lenses, but it seems a Canon is my best bet for what I want. Plus I know you have a Canon Rebel and are pleased with it and it definitely takes good pictures. I have to check out this Nikon a bit more.

Tired of this little Sony Sureshot. Good camera I guess, but even Brenda has made a comment she would prefer a DSLR because sometimes the pictures are good and sometimes not so good and it takes to much scrolling through menu‘s to get the thing to take a good picture. Outside it‘s pretty much point and shoot but inside…… that‘s another story. I do have some money saved for the old Roadrunner that I could dig the cash out of and not put a strain on any living expenses, like the power bill or food.

Speaking of food, probably end up knocking off early today ( no wondr I never get anything done. And they continue to ask, "you're not done yet?") to take my perfect wife to dinner at the Chesapeake Seafood House. Kinda sorta late B-day dinner. Her’s was yesterday and I had to work as did she. They have great food and at surprisingly reasonable prices. Not cheap but real reasonable AND we have a gift ccertificate a Farmer gave her last year at CHRISTmas time for saving a load of corn.

Best get started.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Good Evening Diners!

Happy Birthday Galaxy and Barry!!

Galaxy, hope your duck dinner was a good one.

Barry, a few more RS3's for your collection! What roads did you get and how many do you have at latest count?

Ken, I agree with your comments on Intermountain kits. I put together one of their tank car kits as I just had to have a Sunoco one( was a sales rep for them many, many moons ago) and found that the plastic was a little brittle making it hard to get small parts off the sprues. Many of them didn't fit well without some work but in the end it did make a nice tanker.

We are supposed to have a really warm weekend, well at least warm for us at this time of year. It is supposed to hit 21C on Sunday!

Haven't done anything on the RR this past week as I just haven't felt much like it. Visiting Mum every night in the hospital is a little depressing. She hardly eats anything and is in a lot of pain. I think we are in a waiting game.

Well I just thought I'd stop in for a minute to wish the birthday boys a happy one.

Evenin' Folks!

Flo, I'll have a cup of decaf....  Ooooo, look!  Cake!  What's the occasion?  Galaxy?  Another Birthday?  Didn't he just have one last year?  Weel yes, you can bring me a small slice of it to go along with the decaf.

Happy B-Day Galaxy!  Sorry I seem to have missed most of the party, hope it was a great day!  Barry just had one too didn't he?

Jeffrey?  You got a cake too?  Looks good!  How's the foot doing?

We decided to head back home this afternoon rather than wait until tomorrow.  My friend was able to get all the items he wanted withing 2 hours of arriving at the show this morning.  Very small crowd compared to other years, but items were selling well.  Hope it got busier in the afternoon.  I took some photos of a few of the G Scale layouts set up for the show.  There was one set up just as you entered THAT was excellent!  I have a bunch of photos of it, but haven't gotten them on line yet.  On the way home Andy and I did some rail fanning.  I got a lot of good photos.  The day was hazy and I don't have a haze filter for my good lens (17MM-85MM Canon).  Turned out some of the photos were made better with the haze....  I think this photo is the best photo I have ever taken!!!  It is an old stone bridge over the river in Harrisburg, PA:

Every once in while the sun co-operates and conditions are just right........ More railfan photos here: http://s66.photobucket.com/albums/h259/slow_rr/Rail%20Faning%202010/

I'll show a few more tomorrow..

Have a great night!

Evening all Dr Pepper please.

Just stopped in so as to not get too far behind. Besides I got off early from w**k and decided to come home. Tomorrow, back to the grind at Mom's house. Too bad I don't live closer to Ray, maybe he could vear off a bit and knock my lawn down.

I wish I could comment on Jeff's picture but for some reason my computer won't show the picture. It's strange, usually when there is a coding error or something, it gives some sort of address or something or a box with a little x. This time it just says "No! You can't make me, you can't make me, you can't make me."

G'night all. Prayers for those in need. (Leaves chuckling)

Evening Madison IN!

Flo, I will take the Fried Pork Chops, Mash Potato with Gravy, Green Beans, side Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing and a [B} in a Frosted Monon Mug please.

I will also take a piece of Cake cake as well!

 Barry ate both cakes?Confused

Garry, I as well was impressed with your WPF picture as well! Bow I never knew your layout was that detailed. Thumbs Up

Waiting for the UPS truck today was like waiting for Santa Clause to come. My Digitrax DT 400 just got back from its vacation in Paradise. Has a nice tan now I will add! Whistling It sure is nice to have the SEB back up and running.  I called Digitrax today wanting to speak with Dave there repair person to see what I can do if a key gets stuck again, but he was out.

The Inter Mountain Hopper is on the Main and is tracking well. Still have small details parts to add, but at this point I am a little sick of it. Besides I would never see the gab irons anyway.

Bought the last SOO Covered Hopper BB Kit K-10 Trains had today.I was hopping he had a few more of them in kit forum.

Have the Big Boy and Y6 b crawling around the layout, boy they sound GOOD! Big Smile

 See you all for latter!
