Whistling

Hi ya all,

Looks like we are all finding our way to this new track.   DUH !! where are we anyway????

Thanks to Kalmbach again for the updated version.  So far it looks pretty good.

I'm looking for Chinese food tonight,  did they hire that new Chinese cook they were thinking about???

I just wanted to get in on the first page of this new edition, don't have too much to report. Hopefully soon.

I have contemplated taking out the helix and lower levels to have more space in the room, making it more of around the walls, possibly changing it to a loop to loop. But after all the work I have put in I don't know whether I can do that or even if I want too.  Darn hard decision.

Hope all are well and smiling.   Will check back soon.

Hey guys, Whow, the new diner looks nice. Now the transition phase. Hopefully I don't have to use HTML code anymore.

Lets see, same old classic menu, I'll have... one of everything. Big Smile
The smiley interface looks alot easier now. Never could insert one in the old format.

When in doubt. grab a hammer.

If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer

If it's broken, get a hammer

If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!

Well I see that once again things have changed. Wonder how many are still on the outside trying to figure out how to get in? Took me all of 30 seconds to figure it out. The look hasn't changed all that much though I see some cosmetic changes.

I still need to find some reliable & safe street lamps for the wife's little (HO) town. Suggestions? After 2 of those cheap ones from HK started smoking (perhaps my fault wiring them up) I just don't trust them now.

Rob, I haven't got mine wired up yet (the layout, let alone street lamps...), but I have started getting the Walthers (933-1082) 'Small Street Lamps' to use. They look like the (cast iron?) ones I have seen in a lot of cities over the years (except for where they get replaced with the mercury vapor, 'War of the Worlds'-looking things). They come in sets of two, and have a 'manhole cover' if you want to pull one out to replace or move. Annnnd... they're on-sale NOW! Wink

Afternoon, Zoe, I’ll have a BLT and a RBF please. Thanks!

Looks like we survived the move without much of any dishes getting busted up. We seem to have most all of the former smilies (plus some new ones - anybody want some Pizza?). Guess I'll use the background color for now in place of the text color (until someone figures that out for us). Ah, I found the text color/colour - it's the 'A' to the left of the background color/colour icon! Kinda nice feature is, if I highlight a Diner's name and click, it'll use whatever the last text color/colour was, so it's a bit simpler to color/colour names. Hmm, more checking out on this 'learning curve...' Smile, Wink & Grin

Ah, I see that Ray's put up the mouse-repellent photo already Whistling (Just kidding ya!)

Sam, congrats on passing your qualification ride, and best wishes on the CSX and NS ones, as well as on your Engineer exam (let us know when you have those/that). Thumbs Up Hope your weather breaks and is cooler than the weatherguessers are predicting for your area (at least by the time your wife and the truck arrive). Angel

Galaxy, hope they get your van fixed up in quick order. Thumbs Up Is your van like that new one they show in the TV ads lately? (Of course, the new one may just have a bunch of tech goodies like the video and everything that's in the ad with the wife, but...) I'd have them check out everything really close before your warranty runs out - tell 'em you're going to take a trip before too long, and want to make sure it's ready... (or somethin' like that - you don't have to tell them that the trip might be a year or two or three away)Wink

DerJohn, I don't mind a meat pie - it's kidneys (or liver, or other guts...) that I'm not keen about. But that's just me - you can have my share of the kidneys, okay? On your McArches building, what about if you made the arches bigger and just had two visible there? Just a thought, anyway. Whistling

I got in the San Juan Central book today - neat book, if anyone has questions, just ask - I've been checking it out this afternoon before I came in. Heck, if you don't mind reading over my shoulder, you can follow along. Yeah

Well, I'm gonna kick back in the window booth and check out the new surroundings - Indiana, huh? Wonder if that'll make it easier for PC and our other folks in IN and OH to slip by the Diner. Hope so! I'll see who else makes it by the new place - Vinnie, they did leave a marker at the old place and left the breadcrumb trail behind, right?

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hi guys.

I thought about moving the diner earlier when we first came back online, but thought I'd wait and let peeps get used to the new format before making them find the new spot for the diner. Glad it is moved, though.

I DO, however see the soapbox made it through the trasition, though it is hard to see amongst the new smileys as it is tiny now- SoapBox New and different smileys and symbols will be nice! A change of pace anyway! Wink

I was wondering if they were going to fix the "wandering page offscreen" when large photos are inserted, but it does seem to take up the whole screen now...as long as it doesn't make it so that it goes OFF the screen anymore.....

I see from my previous postings that multiple  paragraphs get condensed into one paragraph, so I will try to put two lines inbetween the paragraphs to see if that gives separation to my thoughts and ideas. I can understand why they smoosh paragraphs together if they are trying to save space, but sure doesn't come out looking like what I typed in!

Waiting for my new glasses to come in. 7 to 10 days they say. today is day 7, but no call that they are in. I do stop the eye antibiotics today though, and will see the eye Dr. soon to get a script for artificial tears. Right now I use Systane OTC drops without preservatives and they sem to work well. I didn't realize how irritated my eyes actually were until I started using the Systane drops.

Gotta take the Kia Sedona minivan in to the dealership as the power steering keeps loosing fluid so there is a leak somewhere. I hope it's just a hose. I called the dealership and inquired if that would be covered under the remaining warrantee and by VIN number he sdaid it should be, unless there is damage to the area affected. shouldn't be, so should be covered. I just went through a teering rack on the caravan that had to be replaced under warrantee as the new one failed also. I hope the Kia's problem is not as serious and not a repeat. It is 4 years old and in about 5 months we HAVE managed to put 5000 miles on it for only making 3 out of town trips, really! one longish one and two short ones. amazing how we have racked up some mileage already. HAve 10 months and 12k miles to go before factory warrantee is up. Then watch it start to fall apart on me! The caravan had to have a new high pressure brake hose replaced and they trew in new rotors as the ones they just put on were out of parallel...not a warrantee item but since the new calipers and brakes cost me a bundle just a few months ago they replaced them free. Nice of them. Cool

Well I have to go put a pork roast in the oven to cook long and slow for dinner, so I will:

Morgan: Thanks for the move, glad you didn't take us to our neck of the woods as Earl is on his way for this weekend - and it could get nasty here - we'll see.

Spent the DDT (Diner Down Time) cleaning the track after the summer's fog deposits, and doing some switching with the train I had been using to check clearances behind my bakery/flour mill re-build - now those have been sorted out. Before that I've been replacing the card arched wall  with a styrene effort with arches large enough to house a small industry. Still have to get the brick facing on, but the inside of the arches are roughed out in brick.   Of course, making the arches larger had the support column for the second/third arches fall smack on the switch machine the industry is meant to hide   I figure the first arch will just be for materials storage, since it's close to the office building, and likely zoning would require a more benign neighbour!   (I see this new-and-improved diner has a spell check build into every booth Cool, way less need to use Word for THAT now)However, smilies don't work - I figured out the photo posting, but as you'll see, there's no special instructions for smilies, and the usual method doesn't work. Also, dear mods, how do we change text colour/style??????    I've put in here smilies etc. i had stored on Photobucket....not the most convenient way of doing things.Grumpy

I've also been busy the last couple of days getting back to painting the repaired foundation for our house. Quite some more yet to do.

I've been following with interest the denigration of British Cooking (OK, I'll go along so far as not call it cuisine!)  I never liked the idea of Tripe and onions, or blood pudding - but come on gang, what's this aversion to Steak and Kidney pie all about? It's what we had last Sunday for lunch   in fact the way things worked out, this one had EXTRA KIDNEY!

I'd better get going, TTFN

Ah, I see we are back with a "new and greatly more confusing improved" site.....  It did actually let me log in and get here.

Ah. whose on duty this afternoon?  everyone looks different!  Ah, Oh Zoe, didn't recognize you with the new make-up dear.  I need to have a RBF to tide me over to dinner time.

I'll go find a seat somewhere and wait for the others to arrive....

Madison, MI huh?

Let's see if the old way of posting an image still w*rks without having to mess with the "New and Improved" longer version they are telling me to use above?

Ah, it does.....

Later!  I hope!

Just thought I'd take some perogative and get the new diner in place for this evening's crew. Looks like everything made the trip safely again, though it looks like that Soapbox slid, hope no one trips.

Let me grab those mugs for ya Flo.
