I'm thinking about selling some "weathered" train cars at the up coming train show "Greenberg's Train and Toy Show" November 11/13 - 11/14.   I contacted one of the managers and he said he would LOVE to have me at the show (plus I emailed him my website).    Its about $60 for a table which is 6x4, which I don't think is to bad.   I was going to sell a few cars (maybe 15 - 20), and have some demonstrations.    He also said I might get some vendors interested in my work, and also people at the show.    Plus they will make announcements over the intercom when I'm going to have a demo.    I know a lot of people are interested in "weathering", and I'm sure it will be a hit.   Now I have to save up some money for the cars to weather.  Which that comes out to be about $300 or so Bang Head.

 Sawyer.....Thanks for the comments!!

Robby, sweet fade man.

Chloe, I won't have much, maybe a pulled pork BBQ sandwich if ya got any and a nice cold Mtn Dew please and thanks.

I'm likin this new forum so far.

Also, I have what i believe will be the final trackplan. I like the set-up and operating potential, as well as the planned scenic elements. Now to finish up the Carolina & Southern backstory and come up with a loco roster in time for my birthday.

I'll also be working on the sequence of trains yadda yadda yadda

Ah, I see we are back with a "new and greatly more confusing improved" site.....  It did actually let me log in and get here.

Ah. whose on duty this afternoon?  everyone looks different!  Ah, Oh Zoe, didn't recognize you with the new make-up dear.  I need to have a RBF to tide me over to dinner time.

I'll go find a seat somewhere and wait for the others to arrive....

Madison, MI huh?

Michigan seemed like a nice, central location after Mooseknees. Madison Indiana where the moving crew came from (My ficticious company that is an excuse to run anything that doesn't make sense) is on the Southeastern corner of the state on the Ohio River. Here's the Google Map Specifically, the railyard is located in the old Jefferson Proving Grounds, but I didn't think Vinnie and "Unexploded Ordinence" would go over well...

...

...

For our own sakes. Although, it would cut down on the soap rants. *Boom*

SOme of you may recognize Madison from the folowing:

I got the van insured and registered this morning. Still have to get the fuel line connected permanently, get new head lights and get it inspected.

Good Afternoon Folks

I am still not yet used to the new format - it is much slower than the old one. Petra is just back from the GULAG and is right now preparing supper - pancakes, yummy! Flo, that´ll be just a coffee for me, for that reason!

Life sometimes goes strange ways. Some time ago, I had my name registered in a job search web platform called outofgermany, a platform for people, who consider emigrating. This morning I have received an e-mail from a couple, who own a lodge in Tanzania, whether Petra and I are interested in running that place. Now, Tanzania was not exactly on the list of countries we think about moving to, but somehow my interest got kindled. Remember the movie "Hatari" withJohn Wayne and Hardy Krueger? Hardy Krueger bought the place after the film was done, but sold it after the death of his wife. The couple who now owns the place, turned it into a guest lodge - yes, we are talking about Momella, or "Hatari Lodge" as it is called now. Needless to say that I turned in my CV!

I´ll keep you posted.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel with cheese and bacon to go along with my Dark Roast Coffee in a FGLK Mug.

I'll go sit at the Rivet Counter for a bit.....

I see they managed to ^%&*%&* the quote routine here.  You get the entire quote and it always appears at the top of the post.....?????Grumpy  So I'll try a Copy - Paste and see what happens with THAT???

Robby said, "Almost lunch time, so I will take a sweet tea for now."

Lunch time???  I just got up!

[edit]  Looks like they turned off the "Gender" option....  Good THAT was pretty silly IMHO...

Later!

Mourning Flo, can I please have a BLT and a big Dew Please.

New Site Guess it will take a little time to get use to, but so far I am not crazy about it. With the new site I have to turn off my Zone Alarm firewall to get the site or a page to load. Then last night, I had just order here at the dinner and was in the middle of a pretty long posting. Light's went out and my computer rebooted and all was lost?

Not in a chatty mood right now, will stop by again later today.

Well I finished up another boxcar.  It has a nice fade, but not much rust.   I think it came out pretty good.

Sir Madog

I watched   ´allo, ´allo yesterday - I have the complete set of DVD´s. This program is just hilarious. My favorite character is Herr von Flick, saying " Vee hav vays of making you talk!" Wink

SHH!    Listen, I shall say this only once! {to quote Michelle of the Resistance}. You are probably wondering why...  {to quote Rene} 'allo 'allo is one of favs on PBS British Comedies on Sat nites to watch! Herr Flick is interesting, especially with Helga { you may now kiss me}, but I far prefer Rene and the poor misadventures he "suffers". Poor guy, being "shot" by the Germans and playing his identical twin with a "widowed wife" with such terrible  singing  and Lieutenant Gruber always after him and all!

I see here in the diner there seems to be still some double postings. I seem to see double postings only here in the diner and people seem to have trouble deleting them. Things that make you go Hmmm.

Warm here today and til Friday, then a 20* + drop in temperature and going form the 90's to 65*, then going up to the 70's for next week. Can happen here every year when Sept. rolls around. We go to a 20* drop in temps the first of Sept, to remind us fall is coming and temps will only drop from here on out.

I see in another posting in another thread that someone thinks the post number count is off if someone edits a posting. I can't tell, my count seems about right for what it was pre-transition.

I do see that it seems we have to double space our paragraphs to get a paragraph separation to show up in the posting. I hope that they fix that, so we can type normally and get a decent looking post that isn't all smooshed together into one paragraph when posted. Now watch they fixed that and I will have a large post with lots of space between paragraphs!

I wondered where the "male sex icon" was coming from and had seen in editing a profile one could select gender and the sex gender symbol would appear if one selected a gender, but I went back and de-selected it as Selector did as I think it is rather garrish to have the symbol there.

The new smileys and other icons are interesting, giving us a much better selection of "emoticons". For instance, we are going to Travel {travel} to Steamtown on Sat for Railfest 2010, but its supposed to Storm  {I think thats rain or is it snow? oh it's for storm which could be either.}, which may cause a Broken Heart to have to get around with an Umbrella and no Cool needed. Sad It certainly won't be Paradise {paradise}, and hopefully there will be no Lightning striking to further ruin the day. I think my new fav is the "nerdy" looking Geeked, but i can say that cuz I wear glasses just like him- I are one!.

I get my new remade glasses today. The last ones I got were like takiong a step backwards as the lenses were off. SO another exam revealed they were indeed off, and so a new pair was ordered. Hopefully this time they will be right. I have to see the Dr again to get the artificial tears he wants me to use to take care of dry eye problems. Exciting.

Well, Angel for those who need them.

Good morning. It's 73 and mostly sunny. The high will be 92 and there's a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Today I'll be removing whatever else that's mine from the Century. I have some fire fighters gear in the trunk that needs to come out as well as some stuff in the back seat. Other than that I'll just be out paying bills today.

TSF: Where does one look for a "If this box has been checked, smiley emoticons will be disabled in your message" check box. I'm not seeing what you have found. the smilies are in typeface in the compose field - they don't show for me in Preview, but remain as typeface - but now are showing up in the posted message

try checking your profile settings. That screenshot is from another forum I use (proboards). I had the same problem with the old software.

Just a strong cup of coffee please.

Have you ever woken up, and though I should just lay here in bed today?  I had that feeling this morning, and the way this morning has been going so far, I should have listened.

Yoohoo! Anybody out there?

OMG, seems as if I have finally found the place! Went all the way up to Moosonee, and that´s quite a long way from Germany, only to find and empty track and a bit of litter next to it. So I just headed south to this place - what´s its name?

Good Morning Folks!

Janie - is that you? I´d like to have my French breakfast, coffee and croissants, please. I watched   ´allo, ´allo yesterday - I have the complete set of DVD´s. This program is just hilarious. My favorite character is Herr von Flick, saying " Vee hav vays of making you talk!" Wink

I am glad the migration was completed successfully and the FDT (Forum Down Time) is over. I was getting withdrawal symptoms.

Hope, our MIA´s will find the new place!

Have a good one!

CapeJim:

On your McArches building, what about if you made the arches bigger and just had two visible there? Just a thought, anyway. Whistling
That's pretty much what I have done, visually. For most of the time, I (and the odd visitor) sees the arches as just two

It's only when one gets up close and personal with the city scene that the top of the arched wall is seen in relation to the street that it closes off . To provide a side walk past the final building I had to re-configure the shape of the wall and the arches beneath it. The third arch is actually angled, and the 1/5th of the fourth arch (the only bit for which there is need/ space to model) is angled back again to parallel the main wall (more or less Hmm}

We'll ignore for t he time being that there is NO modeled ground for the last part of the sidewalk - just empty air!Whistling

You can see the switch machine in this aerial view - there has to be some building to cover that - the aforementioned "industry" whose materials storage take up the first arch.......

Galaxy: "Listen very carefully, I shall post this only vonce!"  Did you get "Hello, Hello" on your TV anytime? Mischief  I've saved the two photos in this post as 800 x 600 pixels - which on the previous Diner would have blown the boundaries. So if these don't your question is answered - and if they do it's my Bad!Black Eye

I noticed in my 'Conversations' (PM's by any other name) that images using the IMG tags weren't showing up in this new format. Let's see what happens here:

OK. I see it's working fine here.

Howdy ...

Returned home from Cincinnati yesterday. Just in time for today's tooth extraction.  I'm on liquids now.

Regarding lighted lamp posts, I once overheated some and ruined them. Then I cut the voltage in half, and the cheap ones work fine with that.

I'll catch up with y'all tomorrow perhaps.

Cheers.

Hmmm.

I see several posts have been "double posted". I wonder if the posters thought they had trouble getting it to post the first time so they posted it again or if the forum did the double posting itself.

I shall post this only once and see if I get a double posting.

Whistling

Hi ya all,

Looks like we are all finding our way to this new track.   DUH !! where are we anyway????

Thanks to Kalmbach again for the updated version.  So far it looks pretty good.

I'm looking for chinese food tonight,  did they hire that new chinese cook they were think about???

I just wanted to get in on the first page of this new edition, don't have too much to report. Hopefully soon.

I have contemplated taking out the helix and lower levels to have more space in the room, making it more of around the walls, possibly changing it to a loop to loop. But after all the work I have put in I don't know whether I can do that or even if I want too.  Darn hard decsion.

Hope all are well and smiling.   Will check back soon.

Evenin' folks!

Flo, THAT you????  You look different....????  What's the special tonight?  Steak and Kidney pie........  OK, I'll have a double cheeseburger, french fries with gravy, and some cole slaw on the side.  A nice large mug of decaf would fit the bill as well.

Man I'm tired!  been wandering around town outside to diner to see about the surroundings here.  Not a bad "New and Improved" upgrade I guess...  A few bugs to fix and not a whole lot in the glitz and glitter I will ever probably use, but OK I guess.  I seem to be able to get where I want to go without too much sitting in the way of it, so I passes.

Got an email this morning from the Boy Scout District Executive letting me know an old friend and mentor from camp has passed away.  I think this gentleman, "Skip" had been to camp Babcock-Hovey for close to 70 years!  He had to be in his 90's, so he had a good, long life on this earth.  He was a person who exemplified what a Good Scout should be.  Skip, before it became a no-no at camp in the presence of Scouts, always had a cigar hanging from his mouth.  When they made a National Rule about it, he gave up his cigar except for the couple times a day pout behind one of the buildings, out of sight, where the smokers area was.  I helped him set up the tent over it several times (no, I haven't smoked in over 35 years now).  Anyway i emailed the DE back and suggested we have a fund raiser for camp where for $50 a cigar we can sit on the porch of the camp office and smoke one more in Skip's honor!  The DE's thought it was a great idea, so it may happen!  I'll be there!

I have yet to figure out what the "add photo" icon does THAT I can't do easier at my Photobucket Account???

Catch you all later!
