Tall glass of cool lemon water, please.

***Garry, had the same thing happen to us with wife's parent's van....beep beep beep, plus the lights were flashing.Laugh [(-D] Finally figured out the key thing. We're not into these cars with all the bells & whistles...just give us an old style lock & manual windows that are reliable every time.Wink [;)]

***Jeffrey, that is a perfectly good road name solution. One you might expect to see out on the tracks.

***Philip, CONGRATS. I'm sure you were the right choice, too.

***Sawyer, congrats on the WIN.

We bought a Cub Cadet mower today. I had buyers remorse all the way home, until I tried it out. Now I give it an initial two thumbs up. Wife does most of the mowing and bushhogging and really wanted to replace the sickly (dangerous) push mower & long dead Snapper mower. She should enjoy the ease of use and tight turning radius.

Evening all.  Was supposed to be about 82 out here in SunnyCal today, got up to 96.  Who says that if we get bored with the weather, just wait five minutes, LOL?  KCRA weatherperson was grinning on and on about our 'mild' weather and the fact that we might not see rain for another month, so "Enjoy our perfect California climate".  I think I'll go down and duct-tape that blonde for a while so I don't have to listen to her.  Sheesh!

Got THE TUBE taken out today, I'm no longer on those AWFUL IV's.  I've graduated to pills, and I'm hardly limping at all (though you would not want to see my knee on a full stomach!).  Lowell has had a couple of fairly rough days, for those of you who are keeping track of my #2 Train-cat, but today he rallied and is again eating me out of Gerber's.  Good God, that stuff is EXPENSIVE!  Hey, it's worth every penny.  Only problem is that eventually I'm going to get the news from the Vet--but not yet.  He's still comfortable and I aim to keep him that way as long as I can without making him suffer.

Philip:  Congratulations on your new position--from your postings, if ANYONE deserves that position, YOU do!  On a lighter note, aren't you glad you're a Protestant?  At least you get to keep your wife, LOL!  Seriously, I'm extremely happy for you. Angel [angel]  You strike me as a man who lives his Faith deeply and fully.

Jeff:  Oboy, glad you kept the RIO GRANDE lettering on that gorgeous diesel and decided to just 'patch' it.  Actually, out here in Roseville, we've still got some old Rio Grande diesels that UP has allowed to retain their colors (with patches).  They make a really nice contrast to all that yucky yellow and gray.

Packers:  You sound like a terror on that team.  If you move out here before you graduate, make sure you come to MY high school--our football team would love you.  And we KILL!! Tongue [:P]

Garry:  Congratulations on the Porsche.  I've got the Old Fart's version, it's called an Audi and it leaves clumps of pavement behind it just going to the supermarket.  I can just imagine what the Porsche does, LOL!  The Germans just build REMARKABLE cars, IMO.

Well, that's about it, got two tanks done, two more to go and the 'train' will be ready.  Speaking of, just watched THE TRAIN on TV last night.  No, I do NOT plan on blowing mine up, French Resistance, Allied Bombers or not, LOL!

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Evening Gang:

Congratulations PC. Now I guess I'll have to really watch my language in here.

Duke say Hello to everyone at Apex for me. Our meet is the first week in October. I need to get to painting the 1 1/2 scale stuff.

I don't know what happened above but the font size suddenly went to larger.

Jeff that looks good on the GP 40. The patch just fits in on the Rio Grand.

Der I think that you explained how you did the white caps, but would mind repeating for us ORFs?

Well I guess I'll head for bed.

Evening, Chloe. I'll have the beef tips and some brocolli and a salad, please, with a glass of wine, since 'Pastor PC' is treating.

And

on your new position (but same vocation, I'd guess), Phillip! My take would be, that you've just been getting ready all along for this one.Yeah!! [yeah]Bow [bow]

Dick, that was an interesting email you sent on the Bloomberg's article. Sent it along to others as well.

Garry, nice looking car there - and I'm sure that after your little deal at the police office, you know exactly how to shut off the alarm, huh? Wink [;)] Actually, the car photo looks like it's in better shape than I thought in reading your description. Maybe up close it doesn't look that way, I suppose.

Gav, how are your lads doing now that the (semester?/course?) has started? Do they start buckling down once the papers start coming due (the ones who care about not flunking out)?

Well, I'll be getting back to my dinner for now. Yum!

Blessings and prayers,

Good evening Diners!  Just about time for dessert, but I'd better be extra vigilant as I've got a diabetes clinic tomorrow morning! Maybe some nsa ice-cream with that Mango/Passion fruit yogurt, and a medium JR Regular please Zoe; thanks Pastor Phil!

Thanks for the kind words about the water. I've four or five different bodies of water, but they are all done the same way, basically.  I'm waiting for some touch up paint to dry on the sea-at-the container dock before seeing if it needs some whitecaps. It would be minimal, if I go for it. Then it's another coat of Mod Podge, and it should be camera ready.  It's probably past time for me to dust and clean the rivers and the other ocean scenes!

PC: Congratulations, I think some of us were wondering for a while now if this was in the works for you.

Garry: Nice Car! What a performance to get a car registered though!  That's quite the thing with the alarm. He could have said!

On the drug bust, there was a biggie down the shore from here a couple of days ago. I'd been wondering about the (usually used for anti-sub) aircraft over the days prior. Turns out that the Navy, the Coast Guard, the RCMP (our local detachment here in Sheet Harbour, I don't doubt) were keeping their collective eyes and electronic ears on a bunch of vehicles and water craft about 15 miles down the coast from here for 5 days. The bust netted over 700 Kg (1540+ lbs) of Hash oil.  Organized crime members nabbed, about 15; 12 vehicles, one sizable sailboat, and a fast looking "cigar boat".

With our low population, long indented coast with many islands, we are a favourite area for this kind of thing.  What the master minds fail to realize is that all this activity, the "different" vehicles, that sort of thing, stick out like sore thumbs in a place where everyone knows everyone else, and what they drive.

Your avatar looks like a distinguished English Gentleman. (beats being an extinguished English Gentleman.)
...but the bounder isn't even wearing a tie! Can't be one-of-uz, and where's the fellow's brolley?  Well, I mean to say what? ...besides, we paid $20 each to get Citizenship here back in the 70s!

Jeff:  I like what you've done with the Rio Grande and the overlettering, very cool!

Duke:  Safe  trip; are you taking a camera? (Hint, Hint)Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] See you when you get back, say Hi to Ryan and Monique for all of us, and enjoy the great food you're sure to have there!

Is anyone familiar with FreeCycle? It's an email give away to a good home for free system. I saw a post on one of the local ones today by a chap "Looking for model or toy trains to add to my collection"...Well of course I had to enquire further. Turns out he's in Horribly Oversized, and has a 4x8 unsceniced as yet layout.  School work keeps him busy, so he has little time for mrr .  I told him that since you guys are often sending each other cars, etc. I would let you know about his request.  Here's what he wrote.

I have a 4x8 layout, yes. It doesn't have any scenery at the moment, I'm still in school so that eats up most of my time.

I try to run ATSF equipment, but any roadnames are just fine with me.

Glad to hear from someone. Thanks,
...so, if anyone wants to respond to this, email me, and I'll pass it along, and get you in communication. Anyway, I told him about the Diner, and how to get here, so if you see Matt looking in the window, or if he drops by wearing a ATSF cap, give him a big Diner welcome!

Time to look at that paint. Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

OK, so something happened today that still has me reeling.

I had lunch with my friend Chris, who just happens to be the pastor of our church.  It was lunch at my usual place, nothing special.  Thing is, by the end of the lunch, I had become the new associate pastor of our church!

There has been a little talk back and forth about stuff, and I've been praying for God to open a door for my ministry training that I've been doing, so in that sense it's not a huge surprise.  I just was waiting on God to open the door, and then today the door is not only open, but the red carpet is rolled out.

It's quite humbling, and it comes with a huge sense of awe and responsability.  In a sense, there's almost some relief too, since now I can move forward in ministry with God's blessing.

Dinner is on me!

Come and get it!!!

Hello ...

Duke.  You have interesting stuff to say when we here from you. Are you ready for more bike travel?

Fergie.  Will it be 6 weeks of MRR'ing with no honey do's?

PC requested a photo. It's 1984 Porsche 928s. JimCG suggested a sports car hat. Yep. Sure. I'm just the type. Driving gloves and a gold chain neckless, too. The car is not in very good condition, but at least we got rid of the trailer in trade. We traded with a guy from Arkansas who brought thios car to us and took the RV travel trailer.

We had an adventure in town with it already. The procedure for getting a title in KY includes having the Sheriff inspect and record mileage and VIN. Next, we go to the county clerk to pay sales tax and get the tag. Well, KY wants to use the retail price in the book for about ten times what we paid for it based on the value of the trailer we traded. We need to obtain more paperwork and return the the county clerk. We went back to the Sheriff's office to get thecar parked tehre.  Well, there were swarms of law enforcement people all over the place with numerous vehicles and the jailer's van. People in shackles were being placed in the van. We learned later that state and federal agents conducted the largest drug raid in the history of Western Kentucky while we were there just to get a title. So here's all these arrested people along with state agents, federal agents, and local officers. We were were parked right in the middle. We got in the car. I put the key in the ignition, and ....... (why me?)...........the car alarm sounded.....beep, beep, beep...... and so on..... I tried everything I could think of.......but.....beep, beep, beep.........officers were staring at us...........beep, beep, beep....we have no tag on the car .........beep, beep, beep..... I reached for the manual .............beep, beep, beep........... finally I solved the problem. I had to get out, and turn the key in the car door the other way.....ah silence......... The car started ...vroom, vroom.........next act?

I got another Atlas loco in the mail this morning. Same type as the last one, Roco/Atlas GP40, Rio Grande #3045 with snow plow attached and Kadee couplers installed. This one won't be repainted per say but it will be patched for the L&A Railway.

Good Morning, Diners. Hey Duke!

W A K E   U P ! !

Oh, yep, Zoe, I'll have some scrambled eggs, toast, blackberry jam, glass of milk, cup of the TH, and a glass of the OJ (concentrate). Thanks - waking up Duke (or trying to) can tire a fella out. Zoe - no word from Ed yet on the next load of juice tankers arriving? Sigh [sigh]

TrainsRMe, happy LHS'ing today!

DerJohn, good to see your new avatar. Thumbs Up [tup] I do like your water with the Glossy Modge Podge stuff. Yeah!! [yeah]

Jeff, I heard that the docs had to delay things because we all didn't send in enough on our last paychecks, and the doctors are waiting for our next paycheck's contribution. Hey, money well spent, IMHO.

Jerry, good that you have your nap lift chair working again. Zzz [zzz] Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Garry, so long as your repairs aren't too much, the mileage on your Porsche ought to be better than most RV's get. Are you getting one of those sports car hats to go with the 'new' car? Wink [;)]

Uh, Rob, when you said 'ultrasound' I did kinda wonder (like Morgan mentioned)...Whistling [:-^] How are your "GB's" doing?

Supposed to only reach about 86 F here today, so Jeff'll have us beat in that area. Humidity's not too bad, though - better than August's.

Back to my breakfast; w**k awaits.

Blessings and a beautiful day in your neighborhood, Wink [;)]
