Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Interesting locomotive, Jeff W...
I like it. I had a friend from Abilene years ago who did similar things. It was always interesting to see what he would come up with. He also would chop up steam locomotives; turning 2-8-0's into 2-6-0's, for example.
That is what is so interesting / rewarding about this forum and the hobby of model railroading. There are so many facets to the hobby; different folks have different talents that they can show off; and it is all about having fun.
Paul; thanks for the offer; I love live steam, from time to time we will go down to HALS and check things out. I have a 17 hp engine set aside for the day I hope I can build a 7 1/2" guage FP-45. I'm glad you made some hay; I have spent many an hour bumping square bales onto a trailer, and then stacking into a barn. Hard work, but I loved being outside, and I love the smell of new cut hay.
Thanks for all the concern about Ike. We had a little bit of wind; and about 3 1/2 inches of steady soaking rain. It has greened everything up; it looks like spring. We had a lot of evacuees (sp?) in shelters; and as we had power and gas, a lot of folks came to the area to buy supplies. There were long lines and empty shelves, but the alternative would have been much worse. Personally, I'm glad we were able to help. My family donated time and materials to a pet shelter set up in my wife's school.
Jeff, have you ever considered creating a loco company for all your chop-cut-rebuilds? Something like JW Locomotive Works. You could put it in letters along the battery boxes or something.
Morning all!
Well, the weather guesser said nothing but sunshine yesterday, and since we got rained out last week (our originally planned day) on our roofing project for the church, we decided to go for it. Well, wouldn't you just know, as soon as every shingle was off and all the wood repaired, the skies opened up. With almost 20 of us up on the roof we got the tar paper layed in record time. The motivation that God provided in the form of little water droplets and the occasional lightning flash proved to provide a stimulus to our tierd bodies that allowed us to move quicker then we thought possible. No sooner was the tar paper up, then it quit raining and cleared up! We decided to press ahead and lay the shingles. So now our church has a fine new roof on it, and the pastor only almost fell off the roof about a dozen times! Muscles are sore this morning!
So whats up with all of you?
P.S. - Prayers for those in need......wait, thats like......everyone!

Good morning all,
Well the weather guesser was wrong it's been in the upper 70's this weekend. Yesterday I drove out to Port Clinton, OH and spent the day with the kids. William is starting his JR year in High School, and Samantha is starting her 2nd year in Veterinarian College.
I'll be hitting the road soon to head for Maumee (2hr drive) for the Toledo train show. I'm hoping this is larger than last spring as it's the only show before Christmas for that area.
Prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery to those in need, I know there are several names on the binicale list.
I wonder if PC has recovered from his phone outages.
Rob, I'll take 2 large popcorns to go!
Have a good one,

***Tom, you are simply having way to much fun with meds. I really feel for you. Sending continued healing thoughts your way.
Picked up this little popcorn cart for the wife. It's one of those kits, but as you can see, this one is already assembled. She really wanted it, what more need I say.
Have a good night all. Rob

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Evening Gang: We got the equipment moved out to John's place and he cut the small field and I cleaned out the creek crossing. The drive out took about 2hrs and 30 minutes, 18 miles per hour isn't that fast. Tomorrow John is going ut to cut the big field about 17 acres. The hay looks pretty good considering it didn't rain untill 4 weeks ago. When the rains came it shot up.
To all those in need I'm thinking about you. It seems that lately a bunch of us are in that catagory.
Tex Jeff. Wellcome to the diner. I'm west of Ft. Worth in eastern Parker county. If you ever get up here give me a call and we'll get together. Starting the first Thursday in October we're having a live steam meet at a friends track just a mile from me. If you could make it that would be great. The next weekend there is a train show a Clark Gardens. I'll be there with my steam locomotive and several others will also be showing there equipment. Come on up and join the fun.
Well after spending 4 hours in the seat of that tractor I'm a ready for bed.
Good Night All

Good evening Diners! The haddock and shrimp in mushroom, dill and cheese sauce please, with new potatoes and mange-tout peas. Thanks, Zoe and Jerry.
Why would anyone vacuum a wood shed floor? Answer, in my case is that I put my foot through a place that had rotted, and needed to get the area clear for the plywood to replace the OSB.! all that was before I could move this year's firewood in for the winter. Job's done, but it sure took away from any mrr for a day and a half
Mike: Thanks for letting us know about your family's health concerns. Please let them know they are being prayed for. (Check your email)
Fergie: Good to see you in home waters. You'll have a pile of gardening to do when you come ashore, I'll be bound! Our pole beans, that had to be re-planted three times and just sat there are embarrassing us with riches. They have finally stopped flowering, but we are well pleased with the results!
Sawyer: (...and Jeff C too BTW
I was fascinated by the old roundhouse that was there. I did manage to get good photos of it; someday, I hope to scratchbuild it and make it the focal point of my layout.
Lee: Those cranes are impressive! I've a scratch building project coming up, the container ship unloader...just have photos and video to go on. Sure I could get a built up....for north of $350! And then it would be far bigger than my port needs. At least I can scale my own for the site!
Rob: A friend of ours kept donkeys and they have a way of getting rid of Coyotes too. Much cheaper to feed than Pyrenees! I guess you have to call all of yours Ralph!
CN Charlie:
Turns out the drain **** on the water muffler wasn't fully closed so cooling water was running out of the muffler when the engine was running. I had been convinced I had a major leak from a deck fitting so that discovery was a pleasant surprise.
Morgan: Prayers for your dad too. I hope the infection responds to treatment quickly.
Container dock plaster drying up nicely, should be able to sand it down tomorrow, as I don't intend to do outside work despite the good forecast. Looks like bedtime. all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of Healing, comfort and peace.

Tom, sounds like that doc sent you on a wild goose chase with those meds. get well soon man!
Afternoon all from Sunny(81)Cal. Partly cloudy, there's some liquid refreshment way up there in Alaska that we're hoping might dip down here in the next couple of days and wet us down for a little. That would be nice. ANYTHING to flatten the G-D (no, I didn't spell it out) pollen into the lawns.
Haven't been on the last couple of days--had a set-back. Not the knee, which is improving so much every day that I think I really CAN try out for the Old Fart's Olympic Gymnastic team come 2012, but the bloody MEDS! First infusion meds gave me a rash, so the Dr. changed my infusion meds to something else. Got the new ones yesterday, it's actually an IV drip into this stupid tube in my arm. Had the first infusion done at the clinic. Didn't feel too very well after, some mild nausea and a headache. This morning, I just EXPLODED before the second infusion, spent about an hour in the bathroom--I won't go into the details. Called the Advice Nurse, she set me up with the doctor. Doctor phoned back, I told him that I didn't need to lose that much weight THIS fast, put me on Sulpha pills for the next two weeks. Oral antibiotics. Took the first ones four hours ago, feel like a million. So WHY, I asked the doctor, did I have to go on infusion meds that makes Chemotherapy look mild? His explanation: "Well, I guess your system is really RID of the Staph. Those meds react that way."
Gee, THANKS! Frankly, I'd rather take pills. Get the tube removed from my arm on Monday. Can hardly wait!
Anyway, that's my story so far. Needless to say, I haven't been doing much with the MR the past few days. Still have three tanks to build, a flat-car to put together (I have three drawers of freight equipment in the garage, you'd think that somewhere in there were some spare FLATCARS, LOL!) and as soon as I get the bloody tube removed from my arm, I am FINISHING that Military train once and for all! Photos to follow. I PROMISE! And yes, I am assigning that train to one of my gorgeous Westside L-105 Challengers.
Speaking of, think I'll go out to the kitchen table and put another tank together, LOL. They only take about ten minutes per vehicle. Time marches on.
Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Hello everyone ...
Jeff W ........... I like your kitbashed loco. You could perhaps call it an "RSC-35".
Tin Can (Tex Jeff) ...............welcome. Delighted you're in the diner.
Morgan ... Sorry about your Dad.
Rob ... I recall seeing llamas in South America. They belong there.
Lee .. I just looked at all of those photos. With all of those cranes, business should be "booming" on your railroad.
Today, I gave the trains I fixed up to the two young brothers from church. Those boys were really happy.
I took more movies several days ago with the digital camera. I'll try posting them in WPF.
Evidently, Duke (aka Rip Van Winkle continues his sleep)
Cheers!
in a AT&SF mug, please & thanks.
***Dick, we had 3 llamas here on the ol' farm, some years ago. Skoal, Copenhagen, & Sid. They are excellent livestock guard animals, no doubt about it. The last one we had "Skoal" was a psycho though and would attack my wife. He was a bottle raised male llama long before we aquired him. That's a big no no. Anyway, we watched him head down the driveway in a van (attacking the driver) and have never missed him even once. His new job was to protect a herd of cows with calves from coyotes, which I'll wager he did just fine at.
Got a dozen or so new fence posts set in concrete yesterday in the middle pasture. Will tackle detaching & moving the old fence to the new posts in the next few days. Today I added a fresh layer of dirt, followed by shavings in 3 stalls of the shed-row-barn (as we call it). Monday the Vet arrives early to geld 2 studs and 1 jack. Poor fellas are going to have a rough day, but in a couple months they can join the girls out in the pasture.
One of the Preiser circus wagons arrived today. Wife likes it very much. She is really looking forward to building her circus layout. Asked me today is she had any zebras. I honestly don't remember. When the new train room is finished, it will be sorta like Christmas unpacking. Heck, it may actually BE Christmas by the time that room is ready.
Welcome to the new folks.

I do, lol.
Afternoon, Janie, how about a nice bowl of veggie beef soup, roast beef sandwich and a Dr. Pepper, please? Thanks!
Morgan, hope the doctors get your Dad's infection/abcess (or whatever it is) kicked out on its I guess you could get away with reading some MR's or RMC's while you're waiting there in the hospital. Will be putting in for you, Dad and the rest of your family.
to the Diner, TinCan (or should we call you Tex-Jeff to distinguish you and our other Jeff W., across the border from you there?)! I see some of the others have greeted you (which I'll second their welcome) already, and enjoyed your answers (especially about falling Weimerainers...). That is a bit of a bummer on your club's (no-)show. Did you get much wind or flooding from Ike in College Station area, or did it miss you when Ike turned right (east)? The out building sounds like a good idea for your layout, given your area and the lack of basement. With a good A/C unit, of course.
CN Charlie, sounds like you're set to have a heat wave up there on Sunday (81F? - that's pretty warm for September)! Good that you found out your boat didn't have as much of a problem as you'd thought.
So Jeff (W.) - quit playin' with us; whose is that Geep? That has more detail than we usually see on any BB's, and looks more like one of the higher-priced spreads that some others mentioned. Unless, you've added some details to that beyond what came with it...Hmmm!
Went by the LHS in-town this morning and picked up a Bowser Frisco covered hopper kit (2-bay, round hatches, 70 ton size). I also noticed that H-L is running their 40 percent off coupon this week, so I'll print out one or two of those and maybe see if I pick up some W-S figures or possibly a Classic Metal Works vehicle. Might also see about some smaller Sharpie pens (for brickwork detailing). Also want to go by Wally World and get some index tab sets, so I can set up my 2009 Walthers catalog with them along the edges. Takes a little time, but makes it pretty easy and quick to go to the section I want when I am looking for an item in the catalog.
Blessings and prayers for healing and comfort,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
