Evening, Chloe. I'll have a RBF (ahem!... uh, Garry...) since I didn't get in today. And also a cheesburger with the goodies (hold the peppers, though), cheesey fries and a dill pickle spear, please. Thanks!
to the Diner (belatedly), Kile! And have a root beer float on me, please.
Short version of today - noon meeting, people came in at times so I didn't get away to lunch, and the last assessment of the day was rather exhausting. And, I'm the backup on-call tonight for a co-worker until midnight, so a calm and silent night will be very nice. Tomorrow is laundry, squeezing in a haircut in the morning, and a friend's wedding at 2 p.m. [whew]
Actually, I probably need to get ready to head for home (and go to bed early, just in case...)
Blessings and a great weekend for you all,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Garry, I think our team will win the rest of our games, lol.
Kile, you still gotta email me that sketch. I can get it done this weekend, but then I won't have time next week, so I'll have to wait till the weekend after that.

Lee: Can't say I've slept on the deck just been tossed there from the bunk! I've also wedged pillows on the outboard side to keep me in the bunk... We must be nutz!
As far as Jerry's chair... They average between $2500-3500 on the simple ones and if you want one with a 90 degree turn in it add another (ready for this...) $10,000.
Jerry hope this works well for ya!

Jeff, the locomotive looks good!

Have really enjoyed all the progress photos that have been posted lately. Keep 'em coming!
And those large scale riding trains sure look like fun. Must make for some serious maintenance though.
Wonder if Terry's truck transforms into a boat when he backs out of the driveway?
Have a good day, all. Rob

A quick and brief review for now....
bjdukert wrote: Garry Are you ready for more bike travel? Yup,and I am going to head out next Tue after work towards Apex,NC for the steam meet. I will take as many back roads as possible so that I can enjoy the trip better than on the freeway and away from all of the crazies. Ryan,Monique, and maybe Ben will be there Sat and if all goes well,I am going to try to make it to Ryan's Thur evening to see his layout first hand. Six days to roll off,but who's counting.

Are you ready for more bike travel?
Looking forward to the visit Duke and less than a week from now too! Chicken and Sausage Gumbo is still in the works for Saturday afternoon at the meet. Here are a few pics from the past two years meets....

Good Morning All
Well John... and I suspect Lee and anyone else who has been on the "Briny Ocean Tossed" will attest to this; It's not only the standing but any position you find yourself in. Sleep is interupted repeatedly especially when you take an unexpected roll or put the bow under. Just pounds you to the core! Though the Scientist were having a hoot! Thought it was all great fun they did until I told a couple of them about the realities of Stability and Rogue waves and some of my experiences. Up until that point they were happy as we looked calm and proffessional and unphased by the realities of it all. Ignorance is truly bliss. Nothing like surfing on the back side of a 40 foot wave. Saying that I will miss the Hudson as there isn't a better sea boat in the Fleet.
C&O Kile: There is a small following of C&O fans here with C&O Terry and myself. Though I am freelance I have several C&O engines (Allegheny, Texas, Mountains and a Kanawha) saw a nice Greenbrier on e-bay the other day but figured I would bankrupt the "Corporation" and "We" mustn't trouble the CFO!
Terry: Glad you survived and had no problems.
Well everyone I have unexpected chores today as a Hurricane has formed off in the Atlantic and is presently predicted to make landfall in Nova Scotia Sunday... Good day to be in the basement I'd say!
Morning all!
Oh, and I forgot to say to C&O 2-6-6-6
Oh well, time to get started on the day!
Good morning,
Today: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. East wind between 7 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.Tonight: A chance of showers, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 59. East wind between 8 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
I'll have the bacon and eggs.
Good Morning from Tipton IN !

Evening Gang: Just a short drop in. We moved the old IH tractor and the swather and the pick up and the rake back to the house today. That was 2 1/2 hours of 15 to 18 miles per hour. John brought the new tractor and the baler back yesterday evening. Now it's clean up and haul the hay into the hay lot. I like doing that since it's a type of job that doesn't require a lot of concentration.
With that I think that I'll hit the hay.
Good Night All
Cup of chamomile tea, please.
***Jerry, sorry to hear of the continuing chair trouble. Hope you can have it taken care of quickly this time. Is it the same part(s) that are failing with it?
***C&O 2-6-6-6, you're at least one step ahead of us here, as we're still waiting on the train room to be completed before starting benchwork. Feel free to share pics of your construction as you progress with it. Helps to keep those of us in a "holding pattern" inspired.
Turning in early here. Y'all have a good night. Rob

Good evening!
TrainsRme.... I'm glad you got the B&O Museum. I like it myself. It's in Baltimore, home of MB Klein which is one of the best hobby shops anywhere. I remember there being a hobby shop in Union Station of Washington, but I don't know if it is stil there. have you been to the Smithonian?
C&O 2-6-6-6 .... Thanks for telling about your layout plans. You have lots of fun ahead of you.
Packers ... your teem will win all the remaining games. Correct?
Der John ..... I really like your water scenes!

Good evening all! Another outstanding day for outside chores, but the end is nigh. TS Kyle is set to make a visit over the weekend. Still, we need the water for the well; and we have accomplished a great deal in a few days of clear weather that we couldn't get to over the washout of a summer. Happy to report that the push mower (a 1988 vintage Snapper ), the chain saw, the weed whacker and the chipper have all behaved. That is unusual for us, as small motors generally don't perform as advertised around here. I found that the chipper carburettor bowl (not used at all last year, so very grungy) cleaned up very well with toothpaste! It had lots of verdigris from the copper float. Had to wire brush that off, but when done, the little beauty started on the first gentle pull.
I've got the ocean at the container dock finished. Here's a look. The colour and the relative calm are to indicate a whole lot of distance from the "after the storm but still blowing" ocean of the rocky cove and the wharf scenes.
Paul:
Der I think that you explained how you did the white caps, but would mind repeating for us ORFs?
Tom: Glad that things are looking up for you, and like all modern tires, you are now tubeless!
Fergie: Thanks for all those photos! Lots to digest there! Hadn't thought too much about how tired just standing up in that weather must make a person. We were discussing it after dinner tonight, and don't envy you that part of the job. Kris added that the fact that you have a load of responsibility must make it worse.
Dick: On the pellets, a farmer in New Glasgow /Pictou area has figured out making pellets from waste hay. I don't know the calorific value, if it's as good as wood pellets, or if its like Propane is to Natural Gas. Sounds like a great use for all the spoiled hay one sees around in the fields.
Jeff: Sorry to hear about your neighbourhood loss.
Duke: Pig Roast eh? Should be good. Do they do it in a pit I wonder, or on a spit.
Sawyer: Leaving the best ‘till last...but if you are hitting your stride, shouldn't be a problem.
Kile: This is a "no topic" thread based on the theme of a Trackside Diner. So, order what you like, and take a booth. Thanks for the update on that 1942 C&O yard. Size? How much room do you have for the layout? Those locos are going to take a bit, let alone the cars.
Bed time. Museum meeting at 10:00 to morrow, so there goes the morning. Maybe get some mrr after outside work is called for rain or dark, which ever comes first. goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.
