Still freezing rain here, everything is getting slippery, should be an interesting drive home.
Ozarkbelt, Happy birthday a little early, have a good trip.
Rob, shucks I was hoping they were HO scale. If you email me pictures and what you want for them I'll foward it to the N-scale Middlefield MRR club. You might get lucky, there are some members that have HO at home but are members of the N club and need a project locomotive.
Thoughts and prayers to those on the sick and injured list.

Lee Thanks for the link and it looks like it is a two day deal or nothing at all. I didn't see anything that said you could go for one day.

You got off easy....I had school last night!
Had trouble earlier with pg 25 loading and then getting into the forum at all.
That's about it

I had that happen to me too Duke, the whole Trains.com site was not coming up for me earlier today.

Evening Gang: Nothing new here. The snow was gone by the time I got up this morning. I guess that was it for this winter.
I got the Kabota down to the creek to check out the crossing. There wasn't a lot of silt so it won't be a big deal to clean out. I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up some of the slash from trimming brush and trees and splitting firewood. I don't think that we'll be needing it soon but next year maybe. The hydrolic spliter on the tractor works real well but I still have to lift the logs onto it. Some of those logs are heavy.
Orzark you have a good trip. We used to go to Florida when I was young ( a very long time ago.) Back then there was an operation loading rail cars onto a ferry boat for Cuba. They used an 0-6-0 that looks like a USRA. Great pictures. I liked the ones of the grain elevator with the 70 tonner.
Well I'm beat.
Good Night All
Good Evening Diners!
As usual I'm too late for any of Ryan's great menu items. Good thing this key board is "Spill Resistant" what with my drooling over the salmon that was on today. Oh well, perhaps tomorrow. It seems I'm surrounded by talk of food or more specifically fine dining. What with Ryan's menus and my wife's cooking class. When I picked her up from the restaurant last night I got to hear how they made beef tenderloin with Bernaise sauce, a lobster and crab appetizer with truffle, etc, etc.
Jeff, I just can't believe how fast you got those decoders installed! In you post earlier today you said you hoped to have them installed this week. It took me far longer than that to do an Athearn install that was just a plug in. Hope things went well at the Doc's today.
Garry, Thanks for posting the gripe sheet. I read it at work today and it just cracked me up.
Notice that I haven't mentioned the weather once and that is the way I intend to keep. If I ignore it long enough perhaps it will go away.

ARRGH!
Got back to school yesterday, immediately picked up the latest 'bug' from the kids--let's just say it involves a slightly sore throat that travels south--WAY SOUTH--and gets a little, um, "Explosive." It also seems to be a 24 hour thingy, so hopefully I'll be going back tomorrow.
I was going to blame it on the mushroom and cheese omelet that Flo made for Jeffrey, but then I remembered, I had cottage cheese and tomatoes instead. Man, I HATE diets!! However, I've lost about 8 pounds so far, and believe it or not, I AM starting to breathe better. Which is a good thing, since I have to spend all this time teaching testosterone-laden high school boys how to sing, LOL! Just 40 or so more pounds to go, gang, wish me luck.
Needless to say, I didn't spend much time working on my 'basket case' the past couple of days, it's still on the kitchen table (however not in quite as many pieces) being guarded zealously and jealously by Faithful Spooky. She may not be able to wrap her jaws around the centipede tender, but by golly, she's ADOPTED the darn thing and is just waiting until Daddy can get back to the table and nurse 'her' locomotive to good health. She'll probably go to pieces the day it's ready to run and I take it out into the garage, while she bangs on the door demanding to be let in. Sorry, Spooks, you're an INDOOR cat, remember?
Best to everyone. We're in the 70's here. The weather people on the local channel are going into ecstacies about our 'lovely Spring-like weather', and meanwhile, our Northern California snow-pack up in the mountains is melting too soon and at this rate, we might be on water rationing again this summer--except for shippiing it south to the swimming pools in LA. Hello, weather people--get a bloody GRIP, okay? Sheesh! Bring us some more WINTER!

Nothing for now, thanks - just a quick stop for me, Chloe.
Yep, folks - I had the same trouble this afternoon/early evening with the Trains.com site. Guess they had to wax the floor in the Diner and didn't want anyone tracking it up while it was drying...?
SaronaTerry, got your PM - thanks!
Adam, your layout looks very nice so far. Keep up that good work!
Good to see Fergie dropping by earlier.
Anyone check out SpaceMouse's 2 X 8 layout contest? They have some nice modules in the contest on his website, that could be part of a bigger layout. JP, you might find a couple of them interesting.
Uh, BridgeTom? If you really want some winter weather, I bet we could take up a collection from those of us in the Midwest who are VERY tired of it... You want a unit train of ice and snow? We can fix you right up! (File that under the 'careful what you wish for' department...) I see Spooky is still being Spooky... Silly cat!
Well, I'd best get going. Past my getting-ready-for-bed-time. See everyone tomorrow!

Good Morning All,
Just the push of a button and all that work disappears. I'll have a regular and a donut please (blueberry crumb would be nice - dietetic, no?). Wild weather last night, big rain, big wind and the back yard and park beyond are under water this morning. Gives the dog more to roll in. 52F though but still rainy this morning. Wonder how the wall patches are holding on the back wall of the shop?
Tom - very good - you've trained a guard cat. I finally had to wall off the train room and put in a door as the cat that owns us had taken to ambushing trains. Not content to eat cabeese, this furry bandit attacked and destroyed entire consists (of course on a 12 x 12 HO layout the consists don't run more than a dozen cars at best).
Didn't go to the museum last night, I took a nap then spent a few minutes trying to fix my demon weathering job from the night before. Seems the fatal mistake I made was to spray the suspended powders on instead of brushing them. We'll try some pics and see how it ultimately came out.
here is the structure as built.
and here is the weathered reworked piece.
In other news, i found a lighted sign to try for the pharmacy from Miller Electronics. Seems the holy grail is in your backyard after all as they are just down the road in Canaan, Ct. and I probably walked right by their booth a dozen times at the Springfield show in January. Between the lighted sign and the artwork Lee sent me (thank you again Lee) I should be in good shape.
As usual, lots to do today so I'd better get after it. I'll check in later, J.R.
Good morning,
Well I got into work this morning in one piece at 0719; evidently the CO closed the office until 1100 due to the weather. I-90 was untouched by the plows or salt so driving over the bridges was like a gravel road due to the freezing rain we had all last night. I could only make 20 mph coming into work. I had to pour 3 pitches of warm water down the cracks of my truck door just to get inside to start it up. After letting the truck warm up for 30 minutes with the heater on high it took another 30 minutes to clear the ice off the windows. I called the Command Duty Officer (CDO) when I got here and recommended a delay in opening the base; I guess everyone was called last night instructing them to stay home until 11 (except me).

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
JP,
Send us your APO/FPO when you get it. maybe we can send you over some leftovers from the dinner.
How long will you be in the litter box?
Still some rumbelings about sending me for 1.5 years for escourt duties.
Morning ladies and gents!
High winds and torrential rains last night until midnight kept us up too with tornado watches.
Paul you got any mesquite sitting around for that splitter? We could use some for the TS Diner's virtual wood fired grill!
Jeff you're hands must have been working overtime with getting those decoders installed in record time!
CN Charlie appears that the wife is learning some good traditional culinary preparations.
Tom my hopes are that you are feeling better soon, many "bugs" have been spreading around here for the past few months and none of them are any fun at all! Glad to hear the overall health is improving, I've lost 4 lbs in the past 2 weeks myself.

That's it Jim, the floor waxing thingy, I forgot all about that on the first Tuesday of every month...
J.R. We had the same weather last night too, got 2" rain and now our deficit is down to 8" rainfall.
Lee that is a really good test for those who want to practice for the exams.

Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have a cup of coffee, glass of Ed's OJ, and a blueberry bagel, please. Thanks!
Clearing today, though only supposed to reach the 40's today. No precip. in the forecast (today), so the sun being out should melt off any ice on the trees and stuff. Weatherguessers are saying possibly some more snow around Friday. BridgeTom? You still want some of this? Ah, winter... - I'm ready for spring, myself!
Got caught up on my paperw**k yesterday, except for the intakes I need to finish dictating. But I'm sure any of you Diners have your own special version of the paper chase, right? I'm going through this morning, and figuring what needs to be paid on Friday (payday). I might actually be able to cover most all of it this time.
JR, the building looks pretty good - not too new, not ancient as dirt. Like it! What buildings did you use for that? I recognize the garage, and the other end could be from the Cuttings Scissors, but not sure about the middle. The shape reminds me of the old Plasticville signal tower, but you have it in brick. Or did you scratchbuild the taller part? Good job, whatever you put into it.
Well, I'll be at the corner booth, finishing up my breakfast, Zoe.
Morning all!
The ice storm has passed and, while it was ugly for a while, it's settled down nicely now. It's supposed to start back up again this weekend though. Never a dull moment here in Indiana!
Been trying to get some layout time lately, but it just hasn't worked out. Maybe I'm trying to cram too much into my days, huh? Work, school, nursemaid, husband and dad......too much I guess. Maybe soon.........
In the meantime, whats going on with you folks?
Oh, BTW, Rob, I didn't take home those pics from the office Monday because I had to go to school that evening and I didn't want to leave them in the car. Anyways, I took them home last night and my wife got one look at her pic and actually made me go get a frame that had a pic my mother gave us, ripped it outta there, and had me put her new pic in it! It's only temporarily matted, but thought you might like to hear about it. I'll be buying a frame for mine this weekend (gotta get paid first ya know!) and then it gets hung. Thanks again!
Hey! Guess what!!!!
Lunch is on me today!!!!
So Ryan, what do ya say to you and me setting up a buffet for everyone today?
Since Philip's buying I'll have the buffalo wings.
in a SOUTHERN mug, and the Mesquite Grilled Salmon with Lemon Dill Butter Sauce
***Philip, glad to know your wife likes it. Hope your mother doesn't mind.
***Jerry, the doodle bug looks fine to me. Since none of my own rolling stock or locos are weathered, perhaps my saying that means nothing.
Have enjoyed everyones layout pics. Keep them coming folks...they give inspiration to those of us just getting going.
Have a great day all. Rob
Good af ternoon from cloudy, wet, central MA. The snow is melting away fast the .71" of rain we had last night and 48F temp we have at the moment. Out back we can watch "sublimation" as the snow goes directly from solid state to vapor state ( snow eater ). The back yard is a small lake, as the ground is still frozen, so the water just puddles everywhere. All the rivers, streams and brooks here are at their banks, and we have heavy rains due here again on Friday night and all day Saturday, another coastal storm.
The HDJ project in the master bathroom is nearly completed, just a few more floor tiles to lay, then re-install the toilet. Next comes the master bath, but at least that is only the floor to re-tile and install a new toilet. THEN maybe the Train room, yea !! I think I will mail the HDJ to Duke or Jim, maybe John or Fergie.
JEFF: Solder tips are cheaper by the dozen, you'll never run out again. LOL
J.R. : You got a lot more rain last night than we did further north, we were inbetween the heaviest rains and the freezing rain and snow to the north...luckkkkkkkyyyyyy!!!! You have much more rain coming Friday night and Saturday, so get your san bags back out of storage.
RYAN: I noticed that NC is getting their fair share of rain lately, and you have another big one coming at you Friday, it might dump another 2" on you. BTW, keep an eye out for the Mebroot virus, it is a tough one to detect, and it will attack the boot tracks.
ROB: I hope you do get a chance to take the Cog RR up Mt Washington, it is really a great experience with great views if you pick the right day. The best chance for clear weather at the top is October. We are up there every October, the week of Columbus Day, as the kids have that day off from school. The Notch Train is a great trip also, from North Conway to Fabyan Station, all through the White Mountains via Crawford Notch. It is a 5 1/2 hour round trip. They also run stean to Conway and back which is a 1 hour trip with #7470, 0-6-0 yard goat, all rebuilt and recertified.
MIKE: How did the Pellet supply hold up this winter?
Ok, back to work, see you guys at suppertime,
Lunch looks good Ryan. Hard to avoid ordering the salmon and the pesto soup sounds good too.
The new building is a combination of parts left over including the cabinet shop and Rhodes Tire from DPM along with some modular brick walls. The concrete corners on the tower are the top molding from Acme Nut and Bolt, and the roof was laying around in a scrap pile. I was going to use it for a pattern but got lazy and just roughed it up and shot it with paint. Signage to come.
Say what you want Jeff, three hours for two solder in decoders is good quick work in my book. And better yet no smoke got out. If the budget allows, I try to do like my grandfather and buy one and a spare. Makes the CFO cuckoo sometimes but what can you do? Back to it now. J.R.
Zoe, I think I need a refill on my coffee, and I'm going to try that chicken tortilla soup Ryan has on the menu, along with the pot roast special and the mushrooms and broccoli for the sides. I'll check out the pastries after I finish (or before PC comes in, whichever comes first!).
Jerry, your eyesight must be way better than mine, if you're cutting out materials for another trailer with the power out (daytime, or night?). Your layout pics show you fit a lot of detail in that itsy-bitsy iNvisible scale layout - you're fairly far along on your layout, between the pics you posted today and what I've seen in your other ones. And I'm in Ryan's camp - I don't have much weathering at all on my cars - except for one 3-dome tanker car that I did a long while back. (That one looks like the EPA should've been called in, by the darkness and size of the 'spill' around one of the domes...) Your doodlebug looks good to me, though I'm sure you would feel better if you had it painted and weathered.
And PC (and Ryan? ), that painting looks great!
Well, I'd best get to my lunch - I want to pick out my pastry before PC gets here...
