Darn, beat me to it.

We wear down diners quickly now, lol.

Well it seems Chloe isn't here yet.

Oh good, PC's card is still here though.

Mine.

Off to get some pizza,

OOOOOPS

Sorry Lee made the coffee, I will set the apple pie out. When Ryan gets here he can start those wonderful menus all over. Mika is in the kitchen with her big sister making pop pop (popcorn) for those older than two (lol). She will also bring in the cool aid.

Colby unfortunatly I had to work this past Sat so I missed the train show in Augusta.

Hope you all get some pie before PC.

That's fine Bergie.  BTW, you are welcome to visit. And of course, have coffee... or perhaps some of Ryan's "Lean Cuisine" diners.

For those who need to refer back to Elliots Trackside Diner II....  Here's the link.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Another beautiful day down here in Paradise.  Cool [8D]  I enjoyed it as the forecast for tomorrow isn't as good.  Supposed to get up to 90º tomorrow.  Definitely a/c time.  In fact, I predict we're going to turn it on again tonight.

No progress on the layout today, bummer.  My excuse was the weekly shopping trip, a dentist appointment, and, of course, a nap.  Zzz [zzz]  I'm good at excuses.  The dentist appointment wasn't too bad.  Reconstruction of a tooth where some old (and large) fillings had started to loosen.  At least I have a great dentist.

It's only partly cloudy here, so we will see if we will see (just a play on words) anything of the lunar eclipse tonight.  We did catch the last one that occurred here.  (Edit) Just came in from watching the eclipse.  No cloud cover so we got a pretty good view.  We don't plan on waiting up for it to start appearing again.

Ryan:  BTW, you're up early this morning!!
Actually, I normally get up at 06:15 and we go for a long walk, leaving the house around 07:00.  I just don't normally post here that early!  I could really go for a nice piece of aged angus beef.  You can't find anything like that where we live, although they do have great steak places in the big cities like Mexico City.

Not much else to add tonight.  Catch up with you tomorrow.

Hasta mañana,

Ed

Ok all -

I made it in here too!

Ed - This will be my 1st Red Sox game @ Fenway. When I was stationed in San Diego back in the 90's w/ the Marines, a buddy of mine would always get us tix to see them in Anaheim, so I got my taste of them back then.

JimCG - I think I've got her won over already. We're already talking about buying a house come this fall after I get back from Iraq.

Well all, time for bed.....

Take care!

Evening Gang: I hope that the steaks made it over from the old place. I'll have one of those cowboy grilled babys.

Mary Ann and I went into Ft. Worth this evening. I took her to a steak house for dinner. Actually her's was free for her birthday tomorrow. The steaks were very good and I had a glass of wine. No I'm not going to say how old she will be. I like life and health too much. I got all the dirt moved today. I could still use a couple of hundred yards more but I'll make do.

JP when are you due to ship out? I don't remember you mentioning going to the sand box.

Well I think that I'll hit the sack.

Hi everybody. Since I don't like pie (as much as other deserts), I'll have a slice of triple chocolate cake.

Actually, make that quadruple chocolate!

Kinda surprising to see the diner was shut down after so little posts.

Gotta fly before the sugar rush kicks in...!

Tried to get some work done on something today.  Meant to stop at the hobby shop today and pick up a few turnouts to do some planning with.  I can only sketch or doodle so much.  Trackplanning for me was always more of a full size arrangement.  But I was feeling kinda sleepy after work, so I just went home.

In the meantime, I'm pretty eager to get my hands dirty again.  I've got 19.5 by 53.5 inches (such odd dimensions, wouldn't you agree?) on top of my entertainment center that I noticed would make for a nice place to build a diorama.  I mean the floor space is already eaten up so its not like I need to figure out how I'm going to make room for it.  There's a little area about a mile from me that would make a nice scene and can almost be reconstructed at full scale in the available space.  Length-wise anyhow.  Depth on the other hand has to be sacrificed.  An acceptable trade for the most part.  I attempted to begin construction of a one quarter size mock-up of it from cardstock, but lost interest once I got hungry.  If the weather cooperates tomorrow, I might head over and have a look with my eyeballs instead of my memory.  Although I dread the idea of driving the mile just for that.  For whatever reason this week's tank of gas is burning through faster than average and right after gas jumped a whole 11 cents in two days.  Figures.  But I do have some errands to run and its on the way.

Since its going to be at least until summer before I start working on the "big" layout, I'm reluctant to order a whole bunch of cork from the internet.  I figure I can just track down a sheet of cork somewhere like at Lowe's and cut it into strips myself.  Where would I find such cork?  I mean, I know they make it in regular sheets.  I used to have a piece as a corkboard that was pretty big but I have no idea where it came from.

Hey, Chloe, Jerry, Gavin (Sleeper33), everyone! Yeah, I just followed my nose to the smell of the pie - I see PC's busy with the Key Lime pie. I'll have a slice of the apple with some ice cream on top,

and a cup of coffee, please.

Oh, you like the new mugs? I guess our servers ordered them and got 'em in just before we moved the Diner over to the new track.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner, Sleeper33 (Gavin)! Glad to have you in the Diner - I'll treat for a beverage of your choice, and looks like Kevin got the TOP honors, so he'll cover your munchies on this page. Smile [:)]

Warning to my neighbors/neighbours to the east and north of me - we're supposed to be getting .01 to .25 inches of ice/snow mix between now and Friday evening. Might be a rehash of our nasty weather of last week. Hopefully, it'll come down as snow instead of as ice. We don't need any more downed branches, lost power, etc., thanks! Better make sure you have a fairly full gas tank on your vehicle and enough food at home, folks! Shock [:O] Oh, our admin. people today at w**k put out a memo listing the radio stations that will carry our 'closed due to weather' notice if we're closed tomorrow. Guess they're recognizing that there can be times when it's better to close than to try to get staff to come in... Wink [;)]

Got in my copy of GMR 2008 today, and have been looking through that. It was almost like Christmas for me at the post office box today, as three of my eBay purchases arrived (total of five P2K cars, one of them was assembled). The assembled 50' auto boxcar will help me see how to put together the other kits like it that I have. Smile [:)]

I'm going to chow down on my pie before PC gets finished with the last of the Key Lime (so he doesn't come after mine)! Everyone keep  warm and stay safe tomorrow.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau (where it's possibly soon to be slippery...

Well, I see a few more folks dropped in while I was w**king on my pie. Almost a party, except I haven't noticed anyone swinging from the lights (yet)... Wink [;)]

JP, I guess I'm with Paul, and had missed it - when will you be shipping to the sandbox? Once you get back and get the house, that should give you more room for the layout (or will you be designing the layout and looking for a house that's big enough to build over it?). Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Paul, I don't blame you a bit for not ratting out Mary Ann on her age. As you said, you like life just fine, thanks! Laugh [(-D]

Terry, I'm sure the twins will take you up on your offer of help with the remodeling. There might be some things that need a little patching that shifted in the move here, too. Just ask Chloe and I'm sure she'll tell you where to go (help)... Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]

Kevin/CPRail - Bergie probably wanted to get the Diner moved quickly so the forums(fora?) would stay running smoothly. Maybe we've been posting more pics lately and that tipped things toward a new Diner sooner, too. Good to see you back, by the way.Smile [:)]

Nick/Nittany Lion, you probably could have your layout/diorama overhang the entertainment center a bit and make it a 20 or 24 inch by 54 inch size. Started any sketches for the trackplan yet?

Gav, we cover a lot of topics in here (even model railroading!), jokes, all kinds of stuff (except we try to stay away from politics and such, to avoid flame wars Wink [;)]). Ryan has been making our menu for lunch and dinner for a bit lately, but if you give our virtual servers your beverage and/or food orders, they'll be glad to have the chef whup it up for you. We try to keep the place suitable for our younger patrons (family-friendly, you could call it), and if someone is new and hits the top of the page (TOP), we usually let 'em slide the first time (but after that, better have your virtual plastic ready or plan on washing some of the lunch/dinner dishes to pay). Our twins - Zoe and Chloe - cover the weekdays and weeknights respectively,  and Janie and sometimes Flo help cover the weekends in here. The booth over by the bay window is good for watching the local freights when they come by, and the pool table is at the back, past the wood stove (which is good for warming your toes if it's been cold out). Ed in Mexico provides virtual shipments of orange juice to the Diner so we can have that fresh-squuezed taste. Oh, if you forget to bring your money or your plastic and hit TOP, Zoe or Chloe can keep a tab for you, but watch out about not letting it go too long. Otherwise, the twins' cousin Vinnie may have to (ahem...) have a 'chat' witcha, if you catch my drift...Shock [:O] Better to wash dishes than let your bill go too long...Wink [;)]

We pretty much all enjoy it if you have pics of your layout progress to post, and we'd love to hear about your layout - time period, modeling a prototype RR (or freelancing), where it's located (part of the country), scale, etc. So when you get your food, sit and fill us in about yourself and your MRR. Nosy Inquiring minds want to know, and all that.

And feel free to ask questions if you have 'em. Yeah!! [yeah]

Chloe, how about another slice of pie for me, but this time to go? Thank you, ma'am. Dinner [dinner]Smile [:)]

I'm out of here again. See you all in the morning!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Well as welcomes go I couldn't of had better so here goes.

My name is Gavin ( Gav ) I live in the CITY AND COUNTY of BRISTOL here in England. I work as a night manager in a student halls of residents. MY layout is of the shelf design and is 12'x 2'

'N' guage freelance based on the Santa Fe. Am in the process of redesigning it and have started laying track. It's a basic single track oval with industries off of it another board is going in my living room and will be 8'x18" as a storage area linked by a hole in the wall. ( train loving landlord). Well that's me hope I'll be welcome for a long time. A tea to go please.

Wow!! [wow] Bergie to the rescue! I get TOP honors yesterday afternoon and they close down the joint and move us over to a new establishment, the Diner is starting to feel like a disposable razor. Or is it Rocky III..... LOL  Big Smile [:D]

As a rule of thumb if you liked the first movie, then you are more apt to like the sequel...and on the other hand as a rule of thumb if you did not like the first installment, well then.....you know the rest.... Confused [%-)]

So now we only get around 150 pages per thread, oh well! Remember when we were racking up 27,000+ posts and 1,300+ pages....those were the days...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Whistling [:-^]

Viewing the lunar eclipse was a nice way to spend an evening, even better than the TV programming last night, and even with the occasional cloud cover obscuring the observation. Once the moon passed through the penumbra stage and entered the umbra stage I was able to take the moon filter off the eyepiece and the orange tint was quite an impressive sight to behold. Then on the way into work this morning and before the sun rose the moon was setting in the west and near the horizon was just as beautiful as last nights surveillance.

Hey Kevin and Mika thanks for opening the doors to the new establishment! Thumbs Up [tup] I can still smell the new paint job. A brand new specials menu will be forthcoming soon and with a grand opening celebration menu too!

Antonio I cannot answer for Elliot since we have not seen him in the diner for some time, last we heard he was in ill health and was not doing much with modeling anymore.

Mark found PC's card under the booth seat again! Whew...good thing my TOP was just for a few hours! Laugh [(-D]

Garry you are so right about the "Lean Cuisine" dinners...the virtual meals all come with 0 calories, 0 grams of fat, and hardly any fiber at all... Blindfold [X-)]

Ed morning walks sounds like a great way to start the day. Did you see the full moon this morning; it was spectacular near the horizon this morning just before and after sunrise.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Welcome to the TS Diner Sleeper (aka Gav) a spot of tea sounds great for this afternoon and maybe some white chocolate and butterscotch scones too! And as Jim mentioned, your wish is the Diner servers command, we serve up just about any virtual meal, beverage, libation, etc under the sun. I've been posting a combination of North American railroad diner menus among others from the bygone days when I was in the restaurant industry. Currently I am posting lunch and dinner specials from the Columns Hotel circa 1980's. I worked most of my restaurant days in New Orleans, LA and was the day time sous chef at the Hotel, so I've been sprucing up the menu lately. And all the menu items are virtually fat and calorie free!

Terry the next full lunar eclipse for viewing observations from our vantage points in North and Central America will be in December of 2010.

Paul glad you liked the cowboy steaks!  Happy B-Day [bday] And please wish Mary Ann a Happy Birthday today from the TS Diner!

NittanyLion I like your diorama idea on the entertainment center top, keep us posted on the progress of that project.

Jim thanks for the warning, we are expected to get some ice/sleet/snow mix late tonight.

Oh, must order the "Salmon and Rotini Blanquette". Thanks!

***Ryan, I watch the eclipse between clouds here, too. Wife is still sick and had to cancel work last night, so didn't wake her for it. Best one we ever saw was years ago when we went to a very dark location to observe it and it shifted from orange to a rather reddish tone. Spectacular! Anyway, I still enjoyed it. I used some large binocs, as we don't have a telescope. Otherwise, it would have been neat to see Saturns rings as well.

Have a great day all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Good morning everybody!!

Welcome gav! It's certainly a pleasure meeting you. Modeling Santa Fe in UK, eh. Terrific!  I always did like the good old Santa Fe.

Paul ..........happy Birthday to Mary Ann. Enjoy the BEEF. (Don't let Ryan catch you.)

I'll have a coffee and oatmeal please. I'm getting ready for our local model railroad get-together planned for this evening. Everytime we schedule one of those, the weather gets nasty. This time it's freezing rain, and that's definately something to worry about. I have completed some scenery, and now it's clean up time. Scenery can get messy.

Happy Model Rairoading.

Morning all!

Welcome to the Diner Gav! I'm John (aka JP since there are a few of us John's in here!) I'm also one of a handful or so of military members in here, if you could not gather from the last few posts by Paul, JimCG, and myself.

Chloe - How about a order of scrambled eggs, bacon, and wheat toast, glass of Ed's OJ, and a glass of water? Thanks! Oh, btw, while I'm at it, might as well place my lunch order for when I come back in a few hours.... Let me have a bowl, yes bowl and NOT CUP of the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo (Ryan, not sure of the place (I'll work on that this afternoon), but had a great bowl of that stuff last spring when I was in NOLA!), and a order of the Fried Soft Shell Crabs? Thanks!

JimCG - Actually, we'll buy the house long before the layout is ready for building. I hope to have some photos of it to share with everyone in here, by this time next year. I'm almost certain that I'll even have a extra set of hands in it from time to time, if she's that interested in it.

Ok all - time for me to get going and get my errands done!

Take care!
