The Blue Comet looks great, almost good enough to make me want something other than American Flyer!

Buckeye, Don't forget about the great entertainment of going to the dump to shoot rats with a .22.

Don, That El Camino looks so nice.  What kind of wheels are you thinking?  The original GM ralleys with beauty rings and caps Cool [8D]

Got another 21088 & cars off the bay tonight, need a little work, I may change it from a Franklin to a Washington.  This engine was a "General" look alike.  The Franklin was green and red and the Washington was blue and gold.

Was someone here involved with the movie Facing the Giants, I think I remember someone mentioning it.

Gnite all

Thanks for the compliments on the El Camino, of course Chris took it to school today.  I thought he was going to sleep in it last night.  Typical teenage boy, he was polishing and cleaning it so much last night he ran the battery down with the dome light being on.

Kevin, it did finally warm up! We set some records this past weekend up to   85, as you know we have another Alaskan Slider heading this way, fortunately they usually fall short and don't get much past Santa Barabara. However there was forcast of rain but it didn't happen just clouds as usual, maybe this weekend.  (Hope, Hope)  I know you pulled the door part way shut, but I think the draft is getting a bit much for our easterly friends!

John, Wow is that some picture, my aunt use to take pictures (portraits) and put them on sticks then stick them in the garden in the middle of the rows.  Of course the seed package was always at the end of the row.  You arn't using these in the green house are you? Whistling [:-^] I'm looking forward to see what you post on Sunday those pics of the Blue Comet were pretty good!  Regarding the Lionel catalog, I picked one up last week when I was in Burbank.  Got another one from LHS just to check and see if the prices are the same. Cool [8D]  By the way you could have save the cost of the new control system, all you had to do was order the Big Boy.Laugh [(-D] You know you will buy it eventually, so why not get it for free! Makes sense to me.Wink [;)]

Jim S, Havn't decided what wheels we are going to put on.  Not really outrageous, probably 15" Chrome, with Raised white lettering.  I Don't like the large 18-21" wheels.  Also, think I'm going to have to check into LoJack, see what it costs anyway.  Currently have the GM ralleys and rings on, but the caps have been lost for a long time.  Today, those dumb caps run $200 each!!!!!  No Way !

Continued the work in the exercise room today, was planning on doing the final patching, and sanding for painting this weekend.  Then discovered that the area that was not wall papered had a oil-based paint on it that would peel off.  So out comes the steamer again, and spent all  day steaming off a layer of paint.  So hopefully still get it painted this weekend, just have to work on it tomorrow night, while wife at Bunco.

So bid you all Good Morning, and have a great day!  (Its interesting to watch the posts and where they are coming from.  Maybe 1 or 2 more tonight from some night owls, then the guys in UK will be next, and then all H breaks loose, with flurries and flakes. Sign - Oops [#oops] just kiddin.)

Just for the record, I don't look anything like jefelectric.

Good morning from Gettysburg, where it is a balmy 19 degrees.

Glad to hear Chief's mom is a little better.  Prayers go out to Elliott/Big Boy 4005 and Tammy/Big Girl 4005.  Also belated congratulations to Reggie and Kurt on the birth of their children.

John/jefelectric - love that new photo.

Spoke to a buddy yesterday, he picked up a Reading Crusader that was a display model for $210. Some guys have all the luck.

Spoke to our son last night, he's been at an internship at the West Virginia State legislature all week.  He's been having a ball down there in Charleston.  He was asked to give a talk/speech to introduce a bill at a committee hearing.  He's so pumped up.  It's nice when your child finds something that they are really passionate about.  Now he's really thinking that law school is the way to go.  Of course, he has not taken entrance exam  or applied, so who knows.  And he just sent out several grad school applications.  I guess he'll find his own way.  At his age, there's no sense trying to tell him what to do, he's got to figure it out on his own.

Take care,

Mitch

Morning all.  Candle is about to meet from both ends. Sad [:(]  Got to get ready and hit the road.  Get Mom home and settled.  Rush back this afterrnoon and pick up Pam's Mom and bring her to Roseyville.  Pam and her Mom are going to Youngest's for weekend.  Hope to get some rest and run trains after that.  Got to get up early tomorrow AM and be in Raleigh for Town Board retreat [miss the train meet Disapprove [V]], leave the retreat early and meet with son of widow lady who owns my pond lease.  Hope to secure first right of refusal on that property.  Sunday, go back to Mom's and make sure she is OK.  Monday get hand operated on.  Use hand as excuse to rest and run trains Tuesday and Wednesday. Wink [;)] Fly to Orlando Thursday.  Then the circuit begins.  Gone every Thursday thru Sunday [except Easter] thru March and a few in April.

Don, love the El Camino.  Wish I had the time and money back a few years ago to rebuild mine.  The guy that bought it was going to rebuild it.

Good morning from sunny and chilly New England.

Looking forward to a nice weekend. A family gathering Saturday night has me all fired up for some fun.

Off to Dr. Tinker's at lunch to pick up my 2056 and to drop off my 2055. Will also buy some flex wire for my tenders, and maybe a new smoker for my 2037.

John, That is a great photo of you! I like it. I'm working on cleaning up my act - just for you.

LazBerry and John S. have already ordered the 66 Batmobile from Dicast Direct. I ordered a gross of them. Love that car and the Monkeemobile! The Black Beauty is cool too.

I swear, Anna Nichole was fine when I left her yesterday!

John - like the new pic, Blue Comet is awesome!

Chief - Good luck on the 'right of first refusal' that's a biggie!

Laz - have fun at the show... wife has us looking at more houses tomorrow...

Speaking of houses, the original house - the one we put an offer in on, then thought we may have lost because it was listed for auction - may be back on the list.  The lending bank called my wife yesterday (at home while she was at work) and said they wanted to discuss the correspondance... she is calling the bank back again today... keep fingers crossed.

Tammy/Elliot - We are pulling for you!  Said some extra special prayers for you last night.

Cold today - cold tomorrow - cold Sunday - slightly warmer Monday - SNOW Tuesday - cold Wednesday... Hmmm... what happened to Global WarmingQuestion [?]

Dropped the 0-8-0 off at the shop yesterday to have the Trainsounds checked.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and slightly warmer in SE Indiana with temps in the 20s today, positively balmy compared to what we have had.  I tried again to post pictures last night with obviously no success.  Will try again this weekend.  I had to do some running around getting some items for the Lucas' girlfriend's birthday.  This morning I had to stop by one of the daughters' homes to drop some sheet music she needed for a piano contest this weekend.  I did go to the YMCA, but that was about it for relaxation.  Dining car is leaving for "Points East" so everybody in the Ohiozone get onboard for breakfast.  Chief, just reading your schedule makes me tired.  Jim (jaabat), so if she was alive when you left her, who did it? :-)  Actually, I do feel sorry for the child she left behind.  I was commenting to the person I carpool with this morning that if you want to mess up your own life, that is fine, but if you have a spouse or kids who are depending on you, you better make sure you take care of them.  I will get off my soapbox now.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold " 0 " degrees again. Sunny. Going up to a cold 24 today. This is getting ugly. Where is Spring??

Today is a train room day. Have a few chores this morning and then I will work on the layout. I have made some good progress, working a few hours a day. It doesn't get to be a task. Have to keep it fun.  Once I get this benchwork and bridge supports done, I can run trains on the new section. Lots of work, but enjoying it. Believe it or not......This upper level idea was the Wife's. She said I need more excitement on the layout.  Hmmmm.......

OK, here is the Dining Car from " points west ". Breakfast is served.

Y'all have a great Friday.

What is so funny about a all expense paid weekend in Hicksville, Ohio? Confused [%-)] Hicksville is located on the  mainline of the B&O/Chessie/CSX from Cleveland to Chicago.   Just a few miles north in Edgerton, OH, Dennis can take in the mainline of the NYC/PC/CR/NS.

BTW, in the movie, "Follow that Bird", Big Bird travels through Hicksville, Ohio.  Doesn't that make it famous?

Good morning from a brisk Chicago where it is 8 and feels like 4 below. Looks like I will get some train time in tonight as the bride is having her girlfriends over for a sort of Valentine's day dinner and that banishes me and the boys. So I'll take them out for pizza and then we'll play in the basement.  Have a good flight, Marty.

Good Morning all!

Even this Canuck has been to Hicksville, OH.  A buddy in Auburn, IN took us there to take advantage of bars being open longer in Ohio.  I remember the watering hole being an old converted movie theatre but the name escapes me now.  It was one of those hot, humid labor day weekend nites, perfect for cruising in his 442 convertible.

I had a 442 convertible, Bruce. It had a 455 in it. Sold it to get married . . .

Just back from Dr. Tinker's house. He's going to be on Boston television tonight. Very talkative this time.  We shot the hooey for a good while, then I had to head back to work. I picked up a 2056 and left off a 2055. Also got some flexible pickup wire, some Lubriplate grease, and a smoke element for our 2037. That should be interesting.

Cold pizza for lunch today.

Sounds like everyone is really busy, traveling, working caring for kids and family, work and all!  Life is exciting!

The talk of Don's El Camino, John's GTO and  seeing Bruce's Corvair, prompts me to a question.  What was your first and or favorite car or truck?

My first car was a 1961 Oldsmobile  Dynamic 88;  my favorite is my current truck, a 1996 GMC 2500 diesel

My first car was a 1976 Ford LTD. Got it when I was 16 and had a lot of fun in that car. I sold it and bought a 1984 Camaro Z28. Later on, I bought the 442 and restored it. I've had other cars, but these were the ones I remember fondly. I've driven a 1997 Chevy Lumina for the past 10 years. The Chief rode in it last time he was up here. I'm pretty sure he farted in the passenger seat! Phewwww!
