Jim : just trying to get you to reach your full potential of fun for today, cause now you'll be off for the weekend & won't have no fun !!
My very first car was an old 51 or 52 Chevy. Got it when I was 15 & couldn't drive it till I was 16, but got a 57 Ford when I was 16 & got rid of the Chevy. GTO & Corvettes came later for me !!

A Canuck in Hicksville, Ohio ??? You didn't travel that far to drink in a bar in Hicksville, Ohio. If it was Labor Day Weekend, you were there for the Classic Car Show or the Kruse Auction, just south of Auburn, IN. Did you see the parade on Labor Day? Did you fly in the tri-motor antique airplane over the town? What celebrities did you see at the auction?
What did you buy at the auction? A Cord, an Auburn or a Duesenberg?
I believe Lisa owes an apology to all the Northerners on this forum. We were really providing Dennis with a great trip to Ohio as has been proven by our good Canadian friend, Bruce. We would have even thrown in a trip to Sam's in Blaksly, Ohio for steaks and Mose Hoppers, but no they had to make fun of our Buckeye hospitality.
Speaking of Oldsmobiles, this is the only one I ever drove. It belonged to a friend of mine. It was a super chick magnate and was a beautiful car. We topped it out at 145 on I-65 north of Indy. Notice the Hurst logo on the real panel. Check out the link for more of the story.

Yeah, Lisa. You owe all us Northerners an apology.
Oh wait a minute. You're from the south. An apology is when y'all says ya sorry.

No, it is NE of Columbus. Tom S., Chuck, Wes, Greg and the Chief have all been here. Chuck and the Chief have been here twice.

Ah, first car a 1973 Dodge Charger SE with a base 318 V8. I got it in a church auction when I was 16. It had been garaged and had only 23,000 miles on it. I bid all the money I had in the world: $300 and won it as the only bidder. Then I had to call my dad...Got it up to 120 mph on the twisty-turney Merrit Parkway late one night...
My current fav is a 1986 Hyundai Accent with no air, radio or wheel covers and 98,000 miles on it that somehow takes me to the train station and back each day. How I've moved down in the world...

We would be more than glad to have you visit us at Rogers Corners. On the way, you could even stop and say hello to Chuck on Blueberry Hill, Ohio.
1st car - '66 gold Plymouth Belvedere II - 4 door econobox with the mighty 276 cu in solid pushrod V8. World's best AC - would send frost out the vents with that old Chrysler twin V compressor. Bought it from my dad (great deal). 2nd car - (also from dad in a trade) '70 red Plymouth Satellite with 383. Drove to San Antonio from Houston at 110 on I-10 all the way. I still have my gas book I kept - averaged about 6 -10 mpg - but gas was around $0.20 - 0.25/gal. 3rd car - 1968 Corvette conv w/327 - had this for around 10 years until I totalled it (if you're not slidin' you're not drivin'). Ah those were the days!
Cold here again. Son scored 8 points in B-Ball tournament game last night.

Roy, you asked earlier about Tom S and the snow. The current big NY snows are east of him near Oswego, NY. Tom lives near Jamestown and has about 3 feet on the ground not 8 feet. Lake Erie is frozen over, so unfortunately Tom will not be getting more lake effect snow unless it is fueled by Lake Huron or Lake Ontario. Here in Central Ohio, we sometimes see lake effect snow from Lake Michigan.
For you folks that have not experienced lake effect snow, it can be truly amazing. Dangerous white outs are common. The depths of snow received can vary wildly in less than 10 miles. I have seen one inch of snow a mile from Lake Erie and then 18" of snow 7 miles inland from the same storm.
Thanks Buckeye.
I got to spend one winter working between Buffalo and West Orange NJ on a special MCI project. Four wheel drive Bronco's with toothed chains for the front wheels was the order of the day. Snow falls a foot or two at a time.

Gee, I thought all the snow in South Bend, Indiana was directly related to that sucking sound that is emmited from the local university on the north side. Sucks that snow right out of Chicago and into South Bend.
BTW, some of the best small mouth bass fishing is in the St. Joseph River in South Bend.
I thought everywhere in Ohizo was HICKSVILLE.
Evening all. Home with the boys. Wife and MIL have gone to Wilmington to visit the Youngest. Cooked country style steak and gravy. Have to heat and do mashed potatoes. Then train time.
Mom is home and happy. Doing OK. Found out she was taking two asprin each night and was NOT suppose too. That is why she was bleeding. Took her asprin and brought them home. She can have Tylenol per DR. Bought her a big bottle so she will be OK.
Later.

Hello again everyone,
Just spoke to Elliot's doctor. They removed 33 lymph nodes and there was no cancer in any of the tissue. The next hurdle is getting rid of the drain tube, which is an annoyance but not painful. He does not have an "all clear" but this is excellent news.
In a couple of weeks he goes back to the oncologist and we will be given a course of action. Exactly what that will entail we are not sure.
Thank you again for all your support and everyone have a great weekend.
Chief, great to hear your mother is back on track.
Tammy (train addict in training)

That is GREAT news, Big Girl !!!! Tell Elliott we are all pulling for him. You take care too .

Woo Hoo that sounds great Will still keep you all in our prayers.
Tammy, Great News. I know it is one step/ one day at a time, but lets pray for more good days/steps and a whole lot less of the bad ones.
Been a nice evening as I picked up the kids and got to play a little. Came home to find that my favorite train store sent me both the Lionel and the K-Lionel catalogs. I will check in later, but I hope y'all have a great night... Time to peruse the train candy.
Buckeye, thanks for the prize. I can't make it now, but I hope to take a raincheck. I am sure you are being as kind as a Yankee can be.
Chief, don't worry, I won't go to the dark side....My Southern Bell keeps me in line.

Evening all!
Tammy, that's wonderful news and a very encouraging prognosis. Here's hoping for Elliot's speedy recovery and all the best for both of you.
Jim, I was aware of you previously owning a 442 and selling it to finance the wedding. The things we do for love, eh? BTW, my buddy's 442 was painted exactly like the Indy car sans the Indy lettering decals.
Buckeye, we were in fact at Auburn for the auction although I can't remember what cars we had there for sale. Must have been about 20 years ago and we've sold so many cars since then. We've also been there exclusively to show the odd car now and then...dad is big on ACD cars. He's only ever had one Duesy ( J, Murphy roadster ) but he sold that at an auction in Las Vegas. The most recent Cord we owned, restored and auctioned ( a '30 L29 Cabriolet Coupe ) brought the highest price realized for such a car at that time. I dumped my heart and soul into that baby so I was real happy when it fetched $185,000. Currently, dad owns a '37 Cord Supercharged Sportsman, a car he restored back in the late '70's. It's my all time favorite car ( yes, even over Corvairs ) and a real blast to drive.
Being the usual victim of lake effect snows it's been an unusually quiet winter so far. While everyone around us seems to be getting hammered I doubt there's more than 6" here right now.
Have a great weekend all.
Oh, my first car was a '63 Impala SS 2dr htp...$100 for the best piece of rust a kid could hope for. Between then and now I've managed to get boned into about 25 Corvairs....3 of which won't go away. Kieth hasn't made me an offer yet!
I think I'm in the tropics today....got up to 30!!!!!
Buckeye I saw that prize package....sounds great!!! Does the Dairy Mart there have the cellophane packaged dried out soy burgers....with the painted on grill marks??? That would be the Cat's Meow!!!!!
underworld
Tammy, That is good news.
Don & Laz, The pic is with the layout in the background. Don, Are you suggesting the pic will keep the bugs off my plants? If I bought the big boy to get the control system, I would have to give it to you as I only have 054 curves. You wouldn't want me to do that would you? BTW, that is a nice set of wheels.
I guess I will be an outcast for sure now, but my first car was a 58 MGA, red convertable.
This was Jean's day off so it was a shopping day. Only train thing I did was change the antenna on the CAB1 to a rubber ducky.

BUCKEYE, A little norteast of Oswego is where I go salmon fishing, in Pulaski NY about 15 miles. People there tell me that 4 feet of snow is nothing. But when it starts to get higher then that then we have a problem. I was listening to a national news station at noon today and they had the mayor of Oswego on and he said that all the roads now are one lane, cause they have nowhere to push the new snow. Now thats what I call lots o snow.
