Good afternoon from a brisk Crystal Lake where I just got back from some kid's computer class with the youngest - what a joke - a bunch of 4 year olds waiting in line to use a single laptop and for this my bride paid money... Glad to hear about Frank's mom and sad to hear about Elliot - must've missed his email address among the five pages posted since yesterday afternoon - sheesh.

Don, the first thing I thought when I saw the El Camino was 'that beauty wouldn't last a road-salt-strewn winter here in Illinois' - you see where my mind is.  What a nice ride!

Inquiring minds want to know where to find the Alps in New Jersey Wink [;)]

Hi Frank,

It was nice talking to you Frank.  Sorry to hear/read about the troubles with your mother and also your own trials.  Your visit remains a very fond memory for Elliot and me.

Thank you to everyone that has sent their well wishes to Elliot.  I can tell he is slightly overwhelmed (but in a good way) that so many have taken the time write.

We had hoped to hear the latest results from his second surgery but not as yet.

Thank you again to everyone and keep your fingers, toes and everything else crossed.

Big Girl, please do keep us informed of Elliot's progress.  Probably better to make one post or let Chief pass the word.  We will continue with the prayers.  Also, will keep you in our prayers as I know it is a hard road for everyone involved.

Now, onto less important things, Buckeye, what's my prize for hitting page 100?, Laz told me one would be coming and to ask you about it.

Jim, did I see that you had one of our SOUTHERN fruits?  Peaches and Grits are both staples of a true southerner's diet.  Glad to see the Chief's visits have paid dividens.

Wife just told me that this weekend is a big work weekend regarding the layout, she wants progress!  Oh boy did I marry above myself!

Was talking with the wife last night about 'priorities'.  I told her I didn't need the train stuff at the new house right away (could store everything at her father's) because I wouldn't be starting the train room right away.  There was a long pause.  I asked if she had heard me.  Her response, 'Yes, but I thought you would start it right away?  I thought you would want to have the trains running so you had something to do and something to show house guests.'  'Hadn't planned on that because there will be other things to work on.'  'Oh.'

I think she was actually saddened by my response!  LOL!

Good afternoon everyone,

It was a very calm day here. I'm getting ready to go to a friends house later.

BigBoy is in my prayers now. Such a hard thing to go through. I'll send him an email as well.

I hope everyone had a good day.

A free weekend at the No Heat Inn in Hicksville, Ohio this weekend.  We have the track-side room reserved for you.  Dinner of course is on us at the corner Dairy Mart.  They have three tables on the outdoor patio so that you can select the best view of the back of the municipal garage. There should be plenty of snowplow action for your viewing pleasure. Buckeye,
Is Rogers Corner near Rogers, OH?  I used to go to a flea market in Rogers almost every weekend during the Spring and Summer when I lived in Pittsburgh.

Greeting from the Northland!

I had a little time today at lunch and wanted to stop by the coffee pot Krew and say hello. I have been swamped for the past month and not much time to devote to trains or the checking the CTT forum.

I am glad to hear everyone in the midwest is getting a little taste of arctic style weather. I do not envy you guys dealing with the wind chills. Cold tempratures are one thing but wind chills stink!

For everyone who is working through adversity and health problems I will keep you in my thoughts. Keep your heads up and moving forward.

I will check back in from time to time, to see what everyone is doing with their rail interests. Good Luck Frank on getting your layout ready for your up coming visit– your doing a great job! Roy, I hope Texas was spared in this latest cold spell to rip the midwest. Don, did California ever warm back up? Any of you southerns getting a chance to try out your longjohns or making that old winter favorite "Frozen Grits on a stick"? (Sounds pretty good– Laz I bet you could go for some of those!)

The days are getting longer in Alaska, spring is only a few months away and the sun is beginning to get close enough to us to almost feel warm! Gotta Love It!

Best Regards from the Freezer, Kevin T.

John, Maybe a baseball bat to the head, or maybe something more special than food! Let us know, or tell your wife to notify us of your passing.

How do you guys find these women? I know women who do these things for their husbands, but the couples are all in their 50-60's. Is it an age thing, or generation thing. I'm 36, and it's not like that here. Does it happen after the kids leave the house? How do I get my wife to do that? My little sister does it, which really throws off the formula.

Anyway, Can I get a seven and seven, with one of those free bar sandwhiches. Don't have much in the pocket after buying my new PRR Mikado, TMCC.

Evening guys...  I hope everyone is doing well.  Was going to take a trip from Sacramento, CA to Los Angeles later next month rather than flying but the trip time is 14hours and 25 minutes...I could drive in about 8 or so.  Somethings wrong there.

Going to the Pitt Greenberg/GATS show on Saturday.  Nothing else new as I haven't and won't be home for a while after Saturday.  Take care!

Good evening,

Sent Elliot an email. Hope he gets good news.

Glad to hear the Chief's Mom is not as bad as we feared.

Thanks for the comments on the new Blue Comet.  Laz & Don, As far as the sounds, they sounds good to me, but then I never heard the real thing.  They took the P47 Baldwins of the run in 1935 and I wasn't born until 38.  Same with the color.  I've never seen a color picture of the Blue Comet as there wasn't much color photography around in 1935.  So I guress the models have to go with the discription of the correct color.

Don, The Alps comment was made because some time ago I posted some pictures of this section of my layout and a comment came back about not knowing PA had Alps mountains, or something to that effect.

After another four pages, that is about all I can remember.

Evening all!

I haven't had time to check posts today. Has anyone heard from Tom S? Seems like the snowhizo in NY just keeps piling up. I know Buckeye is trying to blow it down into N.C., but the southern forces are too strong. With Alaska Kevin holding the door open - it is too much for the upper midwest and east coast.

Kevin - we have deftly dodged the bullet here. Was 75 yesterday and 40 today.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Sorry man, already gone in the trash.  I think that you don't just have to worry about acid - I think that a lot of batteries have heavy metals in them that can make you sick.  Maybe you guys know better?

Kevin, you have been holding the door open a long time!  Was 4 this morning (Wind Chill) and some snow coming tonight.  John (jefelectric) - great looking train and cool new pic!

Nothing much going on here - work work work!  I've got a father-daughter dance tomorrow, then a birthday party for my son on Saturday (not his real birthday, but need to fit it in the schedule), and then Blue and Gold on Sunday.  Picked up a brand new RS kit at the store - I called and they had it in the back, not out front.  It cost about $17 more than the one I got on ebay, but this one hasn't been destroyed already!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Alright, alright.  This is getting to be too much!!!!!!!!!  Trying to read all these pages while I am gone for about 10 hours.  Mom comes home tomorrow AM.  Will hit the road early.  Hope I don't have to stay all day.  Tires me out to sit and not do anything but talk to her [she asks the same questions over and over].  When she gets home, she will have her TV and her favorite programs.  That will help.  When she is at home, she has her routine and she is not confused.

Got Bob's coal loads [he has a site http://www.bobscoalloads.com/cart/ ] and now the Lionel bathtub gons and the Weaver hoppers have "full" loads of coal.  I really like them.

Marty, better than 82 1/2 hours from Raleigh to Palm Springs. Shock [:O]  A lot of that was layovers.

Tammy, was hoping the "good" results would come today.  Keep us informed.  Love and prayers for both of you.

Going to rest.  Later

That's ok...probably would be another project I wouldn't get around to for a while. The batteries in it were most likely plain old zinc/acid. More modern batteries can be bad news like mercury (watch batteries) and just about any of the rechargables like NiCad, Lithium Ion etc. good that you were able to get a refund. Keep checking....those things turn up quite often.

Laz, I thought it was about time as that pic was about 12 years old.

Did you get your new Lionel and K-line catalogs yet?  Picked mine up at Barry's on Monday.  Like that new PRR E7, but I guess you need to buy the new control system to run it, thats another 300.00.  They also have a NYC sharknose that looks good, they might bring that out in PRR next time.  Lots to spend money on.
