No problem, Chuck. Hey, it's nice to find out who your friends are, huh? "Don't let the door hit you . . .", "clean up your act . . .". Nice. And I thought this forum was the kindest.
I hope everything works out ok for the Chief's mom.

Laz:
Here are the photos I tried to post this morning:
I apply the glue with one of these hair dye applicators (not mine). You can see by adding the paint to the mix it gives the whole mixture a chocolate milk kind of look.
On the ballasting, I spread the balast between the rails and overfill the area, then press it down from inside the rails so it creeeps out from under the rail to the outside:
After it has all set up, I go back and give a few coats of a 50-50 mix of water and either slate grey or burnt umber more tone:
Good afternoon all,
It is sunny and in the teens in SE Indiana. It took me over two hours to get home yesterday and it did not look like the roads would be much better today so I took a personal day. We had waffles this morning in the dining car. We watched "Veronica Mars" last nigh, and Lost is on tonight. I had to shovel some of the walks this morning and I will head out to the YMCA later. I did some more building today, but mostly took it easy. I have got to figure out how to post pictures. I hope Chief's mom gets better. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Since you have a lot time, seem to be ahead of schedule, and have an Amishman to help; you need to install some drain pipes. With the ends extending from your ballast/embankments to accommodate the downtown storm sewers and prevent flooding.
Good evening,
Jim, Thanks for the heads up on the Chief's Mom. Will pray for the best for her.
Oh, and welcome back.
Got the Atlas switches reinstalled and all is working at the moment. Ran some trains including the new Blue Comet and it would creep through the switches that had been giving me trouble.
Here are a few pictures, hope to get some better ones for SPF.
It realy runs great, one of the few steamers that I have that will start out at 1 on the DCS control.
And for the nit pickers, yes they are the Jersey Alps in the background.

PLEASE say you'll STAY!!!
****Prayers for Chief's Mom**** Hope all is well soon.

Dewey, I can't thank you enough for helping me fill the extra 47 minutes I had in my schedule over the course of the next two months.

Jon - the other way around. She has me broken in. I have learned to obey. After 31 years in a female dominated elementary school culture, you learn a lot. And I'll leave it at that.....

No big surprise here. The only thing Homeland Security seems to be able to do well is to overspend, misappropriate, and investigate things that are totally irrelevant. I used to work for the government....it's reasons like this that I left.

Thanks FRANK, I have been using a dish soap container to add the glue to the ballast. But I can see where that hair dye applicator would work great. Kinda burnt out on laying all that for the last three nites, going to take a few nites off then come back and go at it, but thanks again for the great idear. I'll post pics on friday?

Had to work over at the plant with the rail line today unloading propane from tank cars to our storage tanks. We can only hold cars at a time. Maybe I shouldn't be saying this you know this is how I tell the terrorist about things.
Jim Fortner wrote:Got home and found my radio shack lab set I bought on ebay. Man, I was really excited, until I unwrapped it. One corner looked like it had gotten wet- or something. Well, my worst fears were quickly realized when I checked for batteries. Sure enough, there are old batteries in this thing that melted down I'd guess about 5 years ago. There is corrosion and old acid everywhere. I cleaned off as well as a I could and changed shirts. Then emailed the seller. I haven't updated their feedback yet, so I'm waiting to see what they want to do about it first. If I don't hear back soon, I'll go to Ebay and Paypal on them. Don't really want to do that, but I want all my money back, that's for sure.
BUMMER JIM, Go after him maybe he'll give back your money?

Taking a note from John and Laz with multiple - one for each quote (etc). Cool set, John! I bought just the 194 Copper Range 0-6-0 and caboose from a seller on ebay. Wish I had the ore cars as well.
Laz - I sure hope you're right!
Chief, God Bless you and your mother. I will keep you both in my prayers. Don't want to bother you right now, but will call in the next few days. If you get the chance, please drop a line and let us know how it is going.
Doug, Camp Douglas was horrific. Worse than Andersonville from what I read. In Andersonville, the south just didn't have the supplies, they did the best they could. In Douglas, the commander and some of his guys were just plain cruel. In either case, a real tragedy as many died a terrible death.
Time to play with the kids. Y'all have a great night.
Dennis
PS: Buckeye, glad you didn't have a Billy Dennis in that list.

Don't make my monkey angry....you won't like him when he's angry!
Thanks for the prayers guys. They worked. Got call [I as down near Rockingham NC] from Mom's small town Dr. Your Mom is hemorrhaging bad and her bllod pressure has dropped real low. I have sent her to the hospital by rescue. Dr. at hosptial has your cell number and will call you. Well, Mom is half dead, I guess. I hit the road homeward. Call Frankie and Pam with report. About half way, no call from Dr., I finally get the wife of one of the guys who rent the farm [they are like family]. She gives me a telephone number of Mom's room [she is already in a room?]. Call number and it rings and rings. Suddenly Mom answers. How are you? I'm OK. Get to hospital [drove 78 miles and passed through Rolesville as it was shortest distance and then drove 55 miles to hospital], she is doing OK. Hospital Dr. coms in and says, she probably has an internal hemroid and her blood level is low. We are going to change her meds. Unless something unforseen happens, she will be fine and will go home Friday AM. Then they take her BP in front of me. 130 over 70. Well, the wife of the other brother who rents tells me the true story as she was the one who took Mom to the small town Dr. Guys, you better have prayers for the small town Dr. Why? Because, if I can get my hands on her, I'm going to skin her!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all of the concerns. God bless you all and prayer does work.
Now for the not so good news. Elliot is not doing good. Tammy [Big Girl] is now staying home with him fulltime. The removed lymph node came back positive. They have now removed all the lymph nodes under that arm. He has not heard the results from those. May have to start cemo. Gang, he really needs our prayers and support. Big_Boy_4005@comcast.net Really hurts me to see this happening to such a great guy. He always welcomed all who came to the CTT forum in its early years.
Tired and hungry. Microwave popcorn time.

Chief....Thanks for the update. Your Mom is in our prayers.
Elliott is also in our prayers. He is a great guy and a great train lover. I will send him an e-mail and tell him, that he is in our prayers.
Chuck
Evening all!
Chief - glad to hear your mom is doing OK. Very sorry to hear about Elliott. I assume by posting his e-mail he is looking for folks to contact them.
Missed what the deal is about Jim? I'll have to run through all the other posts to catch up?
Why do we live in the SOUTH? Because it was 75 today! Sunny! Beuatiful! Cool front tomorrow.
Jim A - sorry to see you go. If you change your mind come on back!
Jim F - sorry about your RS set - hope you have good luck on getting a refund.
Have a great evening all!
Regards, Roy
Thanks Roy - me too! It was about 1 degree today with windchill in St. Louis!
Chief, thanks for the update. God bless your mom and I hope her doc does better explaining things in the future! Elliot helped me out on a question or two in the past and was really nice to me and a lot of others. Later on I found out he was the guy from one of those dvd's I bought a couple years ago who had the big layout in the mall. I'm very sorry to hear he's so sick! I'll send him an email, too.
