     Sorry, did not get your email.  Prayers for SIL's MIL.  The biggest thing when it comes to such cases is the patient's attitude and will to live.  I can understand if they don't want to go through Chemo, etc. if it won't lengthen life.  In some cases, it just makes the life they have misserable.

 I heard that if you break one of those mercury bulbs in the house, you have to call Hazmat to do a cleanup ! Could cost thousands of dollars, that's if I got the story right !!

That is a bit of a problem with the compact flourescent bulbs. It always seems somewhat dis-engenious on the part of the greenies when concerns are voiced about this issue. Out here the gas & electric companies are subsidizing the sales and one of my museum running mates asked an individual hawking these at one of the big-box homestores about this issue he was told to shop elsewhere.  

Kinda warm and muggy here today, good thing I'm inside to work on the cars for my halloween train. And no it's never to early, I'm scratchbuiling a couple of depressed center flats, 3/8 baltic birch leftovers, for a couple of newly acquired halloween items.

Watched Casino Royal last night.  Good movie with an actual story line, unlike past James Bond movies. 

Casino Royal is a remake of another James Bond Movie...Same title.

1967:  Peter Sellers poses as the famous double-naught spy until the real James Bond (David Niven) comes out of retirement.  I believe Woody Allen, and Sammy Davis Jr. make appearances as well.  This is one of the greats!  Similar to the Pink Panther movies.

Thanks Lisa - I sent that epa link to a bunch of people thanks to your post!  Heard Ron is doing well.  He did have a heart attack and one artery was completely 100 percent blocked.  He got a letter from management that upset him and was out on a break when he told one of the ladies that he wasn't feeling well.  He thought maybe it was anxiety, but his chest hurt.  So, she told him to tell his boss to get him an ambulance.  She called him a few minutes later and bawled him out when he said he was just going to wait it out.  Thank God he listened to her.  No more info on my SiL's MiL - apparently she has just given up, though.

Well that job was short lived they have a policey if you don't work a scheduled shift your terminated. well I got sick and had to go home but was informed you know if you leave your job is terminated don't you. Don't matter if your sick or what.  I felt like I was about to colasped and sick to my stomach when I told them there was no way I could finish the day.  Oh well Back to manpower see what else they have. I'm sure it won't be the long hours so no overtime and I'm sure it won't be as much and that wasn't much to start with . My life is worth more than the little they wanted me to work and hold a threat. Theres more jobs to be found.

Been there a certin entity whose shall be known as the one with a big red X for a logo made me go home because I threw up at work and then turned around and wrote me up not being there, boy was the union stewart and union rep ever pissed off. Just because a company pays well does not mean it is always a good fit some times you have to be willing to try new things(carrers) I have been an electronic technician/and sometimes engineer by necescity for most of my adult life, was a printshop bindery tech while going to colledge and I still cant spell worth $#!+, worked as an electronic assembler in high school, work for a cable tv equipment remanufacturer, work two jobs in the industrial controls field for a total of 7 years programable logic controllers, pneumatic equipment ectra, 5 years custom configuring digital copiers, a few weeks as an It assistant fun but not my cup of tea and now am a microfisch and microfilm camera and related equipment operator

Locomutt, I received your message.and understand your position. We get by on my postal pension and wifes ss. We are not broke but once it leaves the savings account it's gone for good.

Very good news tonite a crew of two repaired our house wiring this afternoon, took about three hours. one circuit left the fuse box to the second floor but no ac when it got up there.they traced it around from room to room and back to the basement where they ran a new lead from the box to the basement end. the rest was in the basement junction boxes, the surge was so powerful it blow the wire nuts off the wires. Thats the short story version.

I read my CTT today, trying to stay out of the way, liked the 1953 catalog story and the Best of Both Worlds because it was 1950ish.all were good but liked those best.

Got some wiring done.  Phone kept ringing [Town stuff].  Glad I did not use foam on the left table.  So wide, I have to crawl up on it to wire.  Guess I could have used a big piece of plywood and spread the weight.  Painted Soundstop does not dent when you crawl up on it.  Holds #4 drywall screws very well.  Also holds short deck screws.  Later.

Good news today, they put the light in over my desk so I can actually see now!  Layout plans coming along.  You know me, takes a while thinking of stuff.  I'll change it another 100 times I am sure.  Problems:  (1) Load Center for the workshop is in the back corner, so have to be able to get to it; (2) Want to have two big loops of track with reversing posibilities as well; (3) Want to have sidings for accessories.  The area has 3 walls, about 8 by 8, then opens out into my workshop area, which I am willing to shrink down by a few feet.  I keep ending up with the "duck under" end being about 4 feet "deep" and a shelf at the back that's maybe 1.5 to 2 ft....

Sir James - My neighbors house got hit by lighting. Fused about 4 circuits in his house and circuit breaker box. Had to replace the breaker box and the wiring. Also blew a hole in his chimney. Shot bricks across the entire attic.

Working over today.  This will make my long strech longer; 8 days but it pays well.  Very warm and humid already at 0530.  Did more ground prep for garage yesterday.  Moved sod I removed so going to water it before work.

Placed the House under construction on the layout and got some pics to share Sunday.

Good morning from New England!

Yesterday I finished up my B&M boxcar project. It came out pretty nice. I Dremel-ed the wheels, re-blackened them, and relettered the car where it needed it - by hand!  It's a far cry from when I bought it.

Short day here today. We are going on an outing to an amusement park as an employee appreciation thing. Want to know what I say? "Pay da money"!

It is a nice 62 degrees. A little fog. Few clouds. Going up to 84 today, with a slight chance of rain, later.

Today, is a stay at home day. I have a few things to do around the house. Put new batteries in chime clock, install new cable box with the memory setup to record programs, and make out a few bills. Then, I will take it easy. Maybe next week, I will finish painting train room and rehang all my pictures. I can run trains while I am doing that. Makes it nicer.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy in SE Indiana with the temps in the 80s and a chance for rain today.  Interesting posts here lately about "going green".  I would put solar panels on our place except the roof line runs north and south, which means they would only be effective half the day at most.  I went to the YMCA and did weights and a little trackwork.  My wife had a rough day at school as one of the first grade boys wanted to cut his own hair and some of the other kids as well.  The stories she brings home.  Lucas worked again at the library and spent most of the time cutting paper for a craft project in the kids' area.  Excitement plus.  Two soccer games are on tap tonight as the boys are at home and the girls are on the road.  Hopefully both will win.  Cinnamon rolls and cereal were on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

So waiting to hear from BMW as to what the issue is...

They were nice enough to LEND me a 2007 328i... I think they do this just to get you to WANT to buy a new one and then suck you in... it is a nice car though!

So last night Susan and I found 3 snake carcases in the house.  1 in the basement, and 2 in the garage.  They were only about 4 inches in length, and they were dead, but it still bothers us... if there are little ones... where is momma snake?   I think Susan is calling someone today to have them come out and check things out... Now I really want to get the shed sealed up (there are a couple spots where critters could get in)...

We've had some nice rains here over the last couple weeks... grass is recovering nicely... have to mow again this weekend.

Morning.  No sleeping till 10:30.  Burg has barked off and on since 8:30.  Well, showered and shaved.  Coffee time.  Was up till 1 AM wiring [did not start till 9 PM].  Got most of the left side done.  More today.

Buckaroo, picture did not show.   I'm sure it is a great "compliment".  Funny, OGR guys always argued with and bashed Allan and now he is their editor.   Go man go. Reminds me of a friend in State Govt.  He use to say, "Be nice to everyone, for tomorrow he may be your boss."

Good morn from a sunny and mild Crystal Lake where I am off to a double-header of a local single-A team with the boys this afternoon. Jim, here's a look at the warehouse explosion for Batman http://chicagotribune.com/batman -- it was made up as Gotham General Hospital. Not quite a warehouse actually but Brach Candy's old admin building.  Went to get a second key for the Hyundai this morn - no one has the flats - the car is too old. Oh well, off to a locksmith later today. Any big plans for the Labor Day holiday?

I'm home and the fridge we had fixed 2 weeks ago is acting up again. What joy...

Tomorrow night, my local hobby store closes for the final time. An Irish wake is planned and hopefully I will be able to attend and be a part of the well wishing throng. It will be missed.
