Hi all, thought I'd pop in and say, "Howdy!"

Great clip of the demolition of the Brach's building, Doug.

Sad news in Prattville. The 175 year old Continental Eagle mill is closing its doors for good in six months. Chief and Dennis got to see it on their visit here a couple of weeks ago.

The good news - the city is planning to buy the old mill building, possibly to restore it as a museum or refurbish as shops or condos. So the building itself will live on!  Smile [:)]

The heat wave has finally eased and the drought seems to be over. The temps are in the low 90's this week. (Down from two weeks of over 100) and we've had some good rains.

Hope you all are having a good day!

Doug,

Did you try your local dealer?  Seems like they should be able to make you a key if you give them your VIN.  When I was looking at a Probe LX this summer, the guy I talked to said that they lost the key (yeah right), but they could call the local Ford dealer, provide the VIN, and have the key made. However, I never talked to him after that.  It was a beautiful car, but the blown transmission, the sizable rust hole in the driver's door, and not being able to hear the car run turned me away.  I regret not buying it though.  Should have bought that instead of the Xbox 360.  Good luck.

Jim,  Most dealers have really tightened up on this.  Buick dealer that we bought my wife's car from would not make a spare key for me, even though I had her car in for service.  She had to go in and have the key made.  Claim they are only allowed to make a key for the registered owner.  Don't know who's rule that is, the dealers or local law.

They were nice enough to LEND me a 2007 328i... I think they do this just to get you to WANT to buy a new one and then suck you in... it is a nice car though!

So last night Susan and I found 3 snake carcases in the house.  1 in the basement, and 2 in the garage.  They were only about 4 inches in length, and they were dead, but it still bothers us... if there are little ones... where is momma snake? Confused [%-)]  I think Susan is calling someone today to have them come out and check things out... Now I really want to get the shed sealed up (there are a couple spots where critters could get in)...

We've had some nice rains here over the last couple weeks... grass is recovering nicely... have to mow again this weekend.

Brent, Look at the positive side, if momma is around, you won't have a mouse problem. Smile [:)]

Chief, I like your attitude about being nice to everyone as tomorrow he may be your boss!  You don't know how true that was at my last job, guys were getting a promotion after being there for over a year.

More about a job, monday I go to see about delivering phone books for AT&T in the West Palm Beach area.

Still hot & humid down here after 10:30 am, Jaabat want to come down here for a clam bake?  Only thing is you will feel like the clam!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Brent, do you have a cat or a dog? Could be how the dead snakes got in the house. Snakes as a rule, prefer to be outside. Not in houses. At least that is what I learned about the garter snakes we have.  Sleep tight, Brent. That warm thing snuggling up next to you in bed might not be your wife!

Good one Jaabat except it is hot and steamy, sweat just rolls off, in the afternoons in the summer that is why I said clam bake not fried clam.

John,
I can deal with mice... at least the cats would!

Jim,
Actually snakes will head indoors in the fall in preparation for hibernation... according to the Maryland Game Commission's website.  The snakes are ring snakes... black with white collar around the neck.  They are not poisonous and help to reduce the mouse population... since they have all been dead I don't think there is anything to really be worried about, but I would still like to know...

Bimmer update!

Needs new Driver-side front axle.  The inner CV boot was replaced 2 months ago and now the outter boot is torn and all the grease is out of it... I wonder if it was the outter boot that needed to be replaced 2 months ago... $945.00... Passenger Front Lower Control Arm and bushings $865.00... Front sway bar linkage $230.00 and a new Oil Drain plug... $2,135.00... they also wanted $75.00 to balance the tires, but they said there are 3 warped wheels and that they couldn't gaurantee the balancing.  I new the person who owned the car before me liked to run into pot-holes because I knew the wheels were a bit off... told them to hold off and I would order new rims... $558.00 delivered for 5 rims (full-size spare)... friend of mine who works on wheels is buying the old ones for $150.00... so $408.00 for 5 new rims isn't bad... have to order a new tire for the spare too...

So... not TOO bad... spoke with my FiL and he is going to talk with his friend who replaced the drive-shaft...

Yeesh, snakes... brrrr. Don't particular like 'em. Gosh, Brent, hope that's the answer with the car. I laugh sadly with you as one who spent $3K to fix the minivan earlier this year. Twice more than my beloved Hyundai is worth...

Well, the bride went shopping and forgot I needed the van to take the boys to the doubleheader - I think we're going to miss the first game... Ah well.

Steamed clams - like eating a huge loogie! Uckkkk! I'll take mine fried, Lee.

Brent, I think my wife is going to declare train restriction any hour now. We have to decide whether to have a new compressor installed in our fridge ($517.22) or just buy a new fridge. Sounds like a no-brainer, but wifey has to have all fifi la chic stainless steel, so they cost more. Much more...Good thing I have all the trains I want. Except for a set of 2344s and maybe a GG1. Oh, and some prewar. Yeah, I'm about done.

Dougie, we took the kids to a single A game on Sunday. Minor league games are a good value. Have a great time!

9:15 on TCM, the `927 version of The General is on.  About guy trying to get his engine back that the no good bottom sucking Union guys stole.

Busy day.  Shoveled a channel at the spillway so it will be deeper [had settled in some over the years].  Down one beaver.  .17 across the cove.

Got the left side completed and wired.  Right side track screwed down and all the holes drilled for wiring to be pushed through.  All those folks that talk about high bench work so they can do wiring are CRAZY or have long arms.  If you don't lay down and reach up, you have to slide and your bottom and etc.

Popcorn time and movie.  Later.

PS:  Lee, FECRR is featured in the new issue of TRAINS

Dennis - good luck on the sleep study!  88 - good luck on the Bimmer, that stinks!  Sir J - Rocky Road is Ready! Smile [:)] John (CSXT30) - Looks like you need to have a good Spring Cleaning there in the shop!  Wink [;)]  John (jefelectric) - Lady across the street got a little white dog to copy us, but got a terrier and she is not too happy!  Chewy is very sweet and tame, licks babies and lets John S eat me out of house and home!  But, her dog is MEAN and LITTLE, two things that you wouldn't think would go together very well!  Hope school is going good for Laz, Mitch etc.  Hope things are good for you Roy, and for Frank53, Dougdagrump, Doug Murphy, the other CSX, Phila, Chuck, The Other Chuck, Kevin, Lisa, Misty, Colin, Daan, David, Tom, Keith, The Other Jim, The Other Other Jim, The other Other Other Jim, Buckeye, Don, Mike, John Baker, Nick, Marty, Perry, and, of course, Chief.  If I left anyone off, I did my poor best - hope you are all well and God bless us all.

Trainz shipped another preorder - one of the Christmas cars I ordered.  I think it was the Naught/Nice dumper?  Email is on the other computer.

Bought a dvd from a store on ebay and ebay disavowed them and the order disappeared from my summary etc.  Got an email from the store and they shipped it, so I guess it's okay.  I think they got challenged on whether some movie was public domain or not Dunce [D)] -- not the one I bought.

I just realized I'll need an O36 loop or something on the new layout for the HOgwarts Express!!!  What's up with that anyway?  I suspect it's just marketing to push fasttrack - gonna test that sucker on O31 first thing!  Wink [;)]

Good evening everyone,

Sir James,

I bought myself a 42'' Vizio a few weeks back and it has one of the best pictures I have ever seen on a TV. I got it for $957 at Sam's Club. If I had the money, I could have bought 2 Vizio 42'' TV's for the price of one Sony. I have no complaints about it.

It was a good day here. My friends left a few minutes ago so I'm here all by myself.

Have a good night everyone.

Big Room Is Done!!!!!!!!!  Soundstop down, track down, everything wired and ran engines with cars from back room [up the 1 1/2 inch grade due to the layers of Soundstop] into the big room.  Drop down works too.

Now to pull up everything in back room and put down Soundstop.

GOOOOOD NIGHT [or is it morning].

Had an interesting evening, went to an Investors meeting at a Horse Race Track !!!!????  Was a customer appreciation event...  Included meal, hosted bar, Horse Racing, all in the Winners Club House.  Pretty expensive fare for sure!! And it was free.  The meal was great, of course a free bar didn't hurt.  Then they even offered door prizes.  We won one!  A three foot long 3" diameter tub of popcorn, (gormet stuff), metal popcorn bowl, 6 bottles of various imported beers, 2 theatre tickets, and some other things.  Pretty good!  Did enjoy the horse race, lost $12.

Didn't get any train room work done tonight, but going to take tomorrow off to get ready to work on it this week-end.  (Don't want to waste time on the weekend getting ready.)  Spent some time working on the electrical plan, may make a major modification.  Need to check it out first.

Hope everyone has a GREAT but SAFE weekend.  "Be careful out there!"

There's a couple of cups of coffee left.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 62 degrees. Going up to 80 today, with sunshine all day. The next week's weather is looking good.

Today, I have to run a few errands. Drive up to the Cambridge area to pick up some fresh beef from a little butcher shop we buy from. Great prices and locally raised. You can sure tell the difference.

Not much time for trains lately. I probably will be mowing grass this weekend, again. The rain has brought it back to life. Everything is green around here. Garden is still giving out plenty of veggies.

All Aboard for the Dining Car. Breakfast is served.

Y'all have a great Friday.
