Mornin' boys. Damp & dreary here in the Mid-Atlantic region, but need the rain.
I'm not sure what was worse, Chief posting the same message thrice, or the fact that I actually read ALL 3 POSTINGS expecting to see something different... I did come to this conclusion---> 3 Chief postings = 1 brianl027 posting!

Good morning all,
It is another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana with the temps reaching into the 60s today. It is rare that I quote another person's comments, but dbaker48's situation is so frustrating that responding to it without a complete background would be inappropriate.
dbaker48 wrote: OK.... What has started out as a fantastic day, sure has had an interesting twist to it. As it turns out Mom had a hair appointment this AM. The appointment was rescheduled due to the hairdressers mother's care taker was going to be late, and the hairdresser had to reschedule the appointment to this PM. So.. Mom sends Chris a Text message on his cell phone. That she will be late. It vibrates in his pocket, he looks at it and the teacher says "As You Know That's A Violation". So he is sent to the Vice Principals Office. The Vice Principal says that since this is your 3rd violation (over 3 years), it is an automatic 1 day suspension. Now he is the Stage Manager for the school play, with opening nite, tonight. So he can go for that, but not tomorrow night. (Not allowed on campus during the day of suspension.) Since the Prom is Saturday night, and in order to be allowed to go to the Prom the student MUST have attended school on the previous day. WHAT A MESS !!

My thoughts are this. One is that schools are not run for the benefit of the students (or teachers), but for the administration. (No offense intended to any fellow members on the pot!)My wife works as a substitute teacher, and the stories she tells just make you shake your head. As someone else suggested, the first option would be to serve the suspension on Monday. Unless there is a clear and written policy mandating when the suspension must occur, that would be the best route (and unless the powers that be are real a------s about the situation, I think they would be receptive to the idea). Failing that, the no stage manager, no prom option may be needed. If that does not work, try appealing to someone up the chain of command, or going to the press with your story. While I can understand the policy of cell phones (and they can be a nuisance), discretion could and should be allowed. What is kind of hard to fathom is the cumulative effect over such a long period of time. I would think every year would wipe the slate clean. Good luck with your efforts.
While I am on my soapbox, I thoroughly ticked off at the CW network for cancelling "Veronica Mars". That was one of the few shows that was well written, well acted, humorous and dramatic at the same time. I have a feeling my TV viewing will be drasticly reduced next year with that show being cancelled and "Lost" being on for only 16 episodes. At least there is "Desperate Housewives" and "Numb3rs". I practiced soccer last night and I hope my first game is the opposite of practice as I was terrible. Muffins are on the way to "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool and wet 44 degrees. Just stopped raining. Going up to 70 today, with no more rain.
Today, we are driving up to Zanesville, for the Niece's son's Birthday. He will be 5 years old. He likes trains for 4 minutes.
Not doing much around the house today. Maybe, I will run trains for an hour before we leave. I need to do some serious dusting on the layout.
Chief...Saw your posts from last night. All 3 of them. Hiccups ??
Well, I hear the train a-comin'. Here's the Dining car. Breakfast is served by a very cute Gal.
Y'all have a great Friday.

Don, I'd try to talk the principal into making Monday the suspension day. If the pricipal won't budge, tell him/her that no prom, no stage manager.

Sounds like a an attempt at a policy to address a problem that went amok. We even have elementary kids who want to carry cell phones and ipods. We have dodged the bullet so far. Our policy confiscates the phone for repeated violators and parents must come pick it up. I don't think it is cumulative over a child's school career either. Perhaps a conference to explain and plead for lenience might help??Mitch

Don, I think I would have called the principal and told them that if he was to be suspended Friday, and not be able to do the prom, but that he would be able to work the play....it seems that they are willing to punish him as long as it doesn't affect them. I would tell them to work the play as well. Some folks get so caught up in legalism that they forget the spirit of the rules and need a knock on the side of the head. I hope it is resolved before the prom and that he can attend. In the long run, the prom won't mean that much, but for the time being, I know it is important to him.

Zeke, We get CSI, NCSI, Special Victims Unit, The Shield etc. they have a bad habit of getting them out of sequence and repeats popping up all over the place. All rather confusing really!
I have come to a decision!!!! My Lionel is going to be a circuit of my bedroom at waist hieght about 150/6" wide fabricated from 50/2"X25/1" SW with a sundeala top and secured to the wall(s) with stout shelving brackets.
Now to get the drawing board out. I get more pleasure from using my draughtsmans skills than using CAD, I think it's cheating using a machine and wasting the skills in my hands, though the arthritis will provide a challenge. SWMBO hopes it will keep me from the sampling rooms and cause a little weight loss.
Two weeks to the Ilkley meet. really looking foreward to seeing how it's done
See how screwed up it is. Posted it three times. Must have held the first two in limbo as came back and checked and only Zeke's post was last. Now my three attmepts are all posted.
Nope, I see it posted the lst one three times.

Please send me a photo so I can recognize you the next time you sit across the table from me at a restaurant. OK...Buckeye...Picture on the way. The John Deere performed flawlessly. I would say that JD is about the only thing that the Chief and I are in complete agreement. Of course I run behind mine and he rides.

[well lets try this for the third d!^* time!!!!!!!!!! software really screwing up tonight]
I am sure these two had their helments on because they thought the say was falling in Ohizo. Two Chicken Littles.
The only real JD is one you ride. [still got my die cast one and equipment from when I was 5 years old. Also have my cast metal pedal JD tractor from when I was 6]
Colin, keep up the good work. Glad everything was OK.
Long day working at Frankie's. Came home around 6:30 to find pond bank with lots of un-invited folks. Surprised them. They scurried away in their vehicles when I told them I was calling the Sherrif. Then had to fix my dinner as wife is in Wilmington. Watched some TV [Grey's Anatomy was screwed up] and now off to bed.
GOOOD NIGHT.
thanks for the link jim
on my way to watch csi with my pup...catch you guys afterwards... love that show
Zeke - Deepdiscount has it for $9.65 with free shipping and handling, just FYI

DON - OMG! I can't believe it! I told my wife and we were just floored - can't they make an exception since it is Prom and let him be suspended Monday???
Doug Murphy, I sympathize. My wife's boss announced today that his daughter turned 16 and he was planning to take the rest of the day off and get drunk and maybe not be sober for a few years!
Roy - what kind of cool layout could you put in your Cotton Belt Home Away From Home? Good luck on the financing!
MOWed the lawn and watched CSI - to be CONTINUED! I hate that.... Wifey and I are in negotiations to move my temp layout to the "dining room" area. This will allow a 5 x 6 or maybe 6 by 6 layout versus 3 by 8, which is a little constraining. Wish me luck!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Finally planted tomato plants in the garden. Still cooler than normal.
