just reread some of the other post you would do better with the sw and as long as it is fine you should have use of at least one horn probally the one hooked up to au but possible for both if you have 2 buttons for horn. I'm not that up on the SW

Evening.  You all did NOT pass the test.  I have not posted all day and no one noticed.   Buddy of mine "joined" the forum and posted some in the "Pot".  Was away for a few and no one noticed but did notice some other newbie had not posted.  Compared us to another forum.  I think we are a little more joval but he does have some merit.  My problem is so many posts and you can not scroll back.  I forget some of the replies I want to post by the time I get to typing.

That reminds me.  MTH smoke fluid does smoke well but it STINKS. Dead [xx(]  The smoke unit I put in the MTH Conrail dummy I made was used.  I put JT's in and fired it up.  PEW!!!  You could tell it had some MTH left in it.

Wife is back.  Seems her two sisters and their kids went to Wilmington while I stayed home and babysat the boys [dogs].  Speaking of boys, the 17 year old Peek got me up at 4AM and 7AM and 9AM.  I had planned on sleeping late as I was up tinkering late [should say early].  Sleepy.  Got to stay awake for Sopranos.

OOH, popcorn time!!!!  Later

yes on rhetrostat controlling one track and the other controlling the other track you would have 2 wires coming off each post one going to the one side of the rhetro stat and one going to the track then a wire from the other side of the rhetrostat to the track i believe you would do better by having the A side going to the rhetrostat then the track and the U side going straight to the track

Jim, I have been using this company for a couple of years.  Not their problem, but I just can never find enough time to keep it up to date.  Of course I find a lot of commercial sites are in the same boat.

You could run the transformer say on 3/4 to full and run one set of wires to one rhetrostat and another set to the other and you could run two loops that way with seperate speed but you wouldn't have horn or anything else.

would i have control of the speed for both?

thanks doug!

befor you had transformers you had batteries to run trains around the first transformers had fixed voltage the rheostats were to controll the speed (or voltage to track) of the engine.

Zeke,

Here is a site where you can get some info on the transformers if they didn't come with instruction sheets.

http://www.postwarlionel.com

You can also download some instruction sheets from the customer service link on the Lionel website.

Have fun and enjoy. Thumbs Up [tup]

Zeke,

Those are two SWEET little loco's. The 1033 should do just fine as a power source but you will probably need a whistle/horn activation button. If memory serves the A-5 came in both conventional & TMCC versions. The TMCC version will work in a conventional mode but you won't be able to access all of the TMCC features. I mite have a K-Line activation button, I'll rumage thru my stuff and see if it's around. The Williams in my estimation are the Timex of the toy train world, they take a beatin', but keep on tickin'. thanks doug...

they are awesome i still just cant believe i have them...i cant wait to run them...

so the 1033 will work ok thats great...i also was given a lionel sw..not sure if it works but the women that gave it to me said it works two trains? it says 130 watts on it so its more powerfull then my 1033...  i will have to read up on this one somewere...

its a great train sunday for me...even though i have only a small oval cleaned up it looks reall good so i think i will go try my new engines out.. the anticapation is killing me...

well hope everyone is having a great sunday...cant wait to see some sunday photos!

Been there, done that -- put a bunch of keeper books and papers in plastic bins and stacked in basement. Went to move them out of the way of the general handyman/construction worker (ME) and the plastic tops were all broken and some of the books in a bottom bin were pretty badly twisted and crushed.

Well, my son and I had lunch at Taco Bell and saw Spiderman 3 together.  He got a headache in the movie, I guess from the lights and movement, but stuck it out.  Next we're going to the Cingular store to upgrade our plan and phones, then out for early supper.  Picked up some 2 cycle oil for the snowblower and need to start it and see how it runs before I store it until next Winter.  No trains today probably.  Spiderman has some cool scenes of a fight in a sort of underground subway complex with multiple levels - very cool!  TTFN

Afternoon all!

Early church. Taking it easy today. Still nice weather here. 80 and sunny. Started out at 60 this am.

We just found out the Dallas County Community College across the street from our neighborhood allows fishing in their lake and that Texas Parks & Wildlife stock the lake to boot!  My son and I will be checking this out.

Four more days of school and then they are out - argh!

Afternoon Y'all. We had a great service this morning. A lot of people, probably extra folks for graduations. After the service, a 95 year old blind lady was baptized. I suppose that would be scary being submerged when you can't see. Then we came home for lunch. I hope to do some train work tonight after evening services. I have a bid on a Jersey Central engine that I hope I win. It is hard to judge what is a good price. It is a new engine, and I know what is the going price, but I need to know how much I can spend without being beaten by SWMBO.

Oh well, hope y'all have a great day.

I'm saving those empty jugs, not going thru that again. If grits were not outlawed here I could plug the hole and use them for koolaid or something till I wanted to jug again. 56 and cloudy this AM,next week looks nicer ,hope so. I missed the morning diner, hope the lunch car arrives early. Bye fur now.  Mi. Jim      Don't tell anybody but after I had the 4 jugs dripping, I remembered that I haven,t planted my garden yet.

Marty, I've been using Mega-steam in my MTH engines for some time and they smoke up a storm on Max.  Usually run them on med or low.

Yeah me too.  I got about 10 bottles and this was a first for me.  Brought it back home and added 10 drops of MTH and all was well again.  Joe said it was am old bottle...maybe just lost it's umph?

HI GIZ,

Sorry bout not posting for a few days.  Busy at school end of year thing.  12 days o school but whos counting.

Went out fishing last nite and brother got 3 nice trout, me el skunko again.  This is two times now with nothing to show, even had the fly rod working last nite.  There was a good hatch of March Browns coming off and yet these trout would come up look at the fly but would not bite.  Go figure?  Anyway had a fire and had dogs and burgers and a few 12 ozers,  another great nite.

  Haven't ran trains lately.

Golfed for first time on thursday shot a 48 for 9 holes.  Still can't putt. DA!

Another couple of days and another 10+ pages of posts.  You guys can really tear through the bandwidth.  Not much going on here.  Spent the evening at a friends house running trains and checking out his layout.  Had TMCC and DCS running.  Brought my LM Big Boy and my RK Streamline Hudson.  Both worked great.  Interestingly enough though when I added JT Mega Steam to my SLH it did not nearly smoke as well and as long as w/ MTH fluid.
