Mowed the lawn last night, including down in the woods.  All mole tunnels are dry and flat, so I guess I got 'em, thanks for the advise Lisa (wherever you are)!  Looked like rain all night, but still dry.  We spent a nice hour and a half tonight watching our son try to choke down about 2.5 ounces of cooked corn.  Man, what a production!  He had to run to the bathroom and gag and stuff for a while, but we chased him back out.

Laz, tomorrow is the last day of school for our kids!  Evil [}:)] Wink [;)] Hang in there, the end is near!

Zeke, good to hear you found a group to check out - good luck with that!  There is an HO group around here somewhere, but no O.

Jon - last move.  I figure 5 to 7 years, by then I will have close to 40 years in the Retiremnt System. I will be off for YorkWhistling [:-^], I feel an illness coming on...

Buckeye  - I live fairly close to the Mason-Dixon Line. Only 23 miles from home to current school and about 21 miles from home to new school.

Fife - The Bachman Valley Railroad, a branch of the Western Maryland, served a number of the mining operations between Ebbvale and Lineboro.  Early discovery of iron ore locally brought a a connection to PA railroad lines to Ebb Valley Station; the line was closed when the mines became unprofitable.You can still see the railroad cut where it crossed Route 30.  Also nearby was the Baltimore & Hanover Railroad.- The company which controlled and operated this railroad was organized in the year 1877.  It connected the Western Maryland Railroad at Emory Grove with the Bachman Valley Railroad near Black Rock Station, in York County, and these constituted, with the Hanover Junction, Hanover & Gettysburg Railroad, a continuous line from Baltimore to Gettysburg.  These lines of roads passed through a well cultivated, rich and productive agricultural country.  After leaving Emory Grove on the line of the Western Maryland Railroad, seventeen miles from Baltimore, the railroad gradually ascended, running parallel with and in close proximity to the Hanover & Baltimore Turnpike.  One great point gained to the southwestern end of York county by the building of the Baltimore & Hanover
and the Bachman Valley Railroads, was that they opened up a section of country
in which the soil is susceptible of being highly improved by the application of
fertilizers, especially lime and phosphates.  The facilities thus offered for
their introduction at a moderate cost were promptly availed of by the
industrious and enterprising farmers, the results of which are now shown in
crops which compare favorably with those raised in limestone land.  A short line
taps this road at Red Hill, running north by east through Abbottstown and

Three weeks is not acceptable if you bought it from him. I know locally that machines purchased from the dealer get worked on first, Sears/Lowes/Home Depot etc. goes to the end of the line as they should. Even the big shops turn repairs around in less than 5 days, you may want to look around for a different shop.

For as long as I can remember, after the last mowing in the fall I load my X Mark and take it to my dealer and get it ready for the next season. Those guys are desperate for business in late October and are happy to work on mowers plus you should never store any engine with old oil. Just my .02.

PS--You know why John Deere's are green? So you can hide 'em in the weeds when they are broken down. That came from a John Deere dealer :)

This is just a comment, I don't want to start a war of words,but from what I've read about toy train service be glad your waiting for your lawn mower and not a train repair.

Dr. John, my father-in-law has a Snapper. It spends as much time in the shop as it does in the yard! And it's heavy too! Get yourself a Honda! My first one lasted 18 years and was still running ok when I traded it in!

Jim, actually my Snapper has a Honda engine (which has performed flawlessly so far). My problems have been with the steering, the belt that drives the blade and a few minor but annoying problems. All together, it would take about two hours, max, to fix the problems. The dealer says he's backlogged for three weeks. That's the same line he gave me last year when I had it in for service. I guess my beef is as much with the dealer as with the mower. Sad [:(]

Will you accept a 235 scout rebuilt with a 2-4-0, D.C. motor?  I have the tender but it may be in use on a train somewhere, I weighted down the tender a little bit with a couple of magnets underneath it from Radio Shack.  May have an old gondola too I could give you, is green with Lionel on it.

Because we are sort of an off shore island on Europes West coast, we tend to get Atlantic weather driven by the W to E jet stream which can track anywhere over the length of the UK. If its to the N we get fine weather from the Azores and N Africa. If its to the S we get cold Arcric air and Atlantic storms which are frequently the tail end of some of your tropical storms which can still have some kick in them, and anything in between. We have a saying "if you don't like the weather? Stick around 20 minutes and it will change", in other words 'the UKs weather is as predictable as a womans mood'.

OOPS! on thin Ice there JB.

A little warm here in sunny south Florida, around 82 degrees with a slite chance of rain.  Really looking forward to seeing some rain fall as it is extremely dry here in the southeast U.S. we are under water restrictions which means I can only water my lawn once a week right now, but I don't care about my lawn as it is mainly weeds.   I won't try to stop Jaabat or any one else who wants to perform a rain dance.  Can't go fishing here unless you go out in the Atlantic Ocean on a boat, lakes and ponds are almost out of water.

Gas prices are real high down here $3.20 a gallon, but in Europe gas prices are even higher from what I have heard becaue they sell gas by the litre(a litre is a few ounces more than a quart). Have not been to my local hobby shop for a couple weeks because of high gas prices.

Just got my SD-45 from Choo Choo auctions today and it will pull 23 post war 6476 Lehigh Valley two bay hoppers, no horn, using a post war 275 watt ZW with it and only have the handle about half way open and runs at a pretty good speed.

Jefelectric,  when I was in the U.S. Army a few years ago the weather in Germany was rather cool in the summer, was stationed in Fulda, the high temp one year for the summer was 78 degrees.

On a serious note, try a bale of barley (just toss it out in the middle.)  Also, some years ago (when I spent all my weekends watching fishing shows), some outfit sold a contraption called the LAKE-LIFE PUMP, that helped circulate the water during dormant periods.

Morning all.  Congrats Mitch.  As LAZ said, put the PAL in Principal.  My High School Principal really did press that point.  Remembered it ever since [that was back in the Dark Ages].

No ecoli in water samples.  County folks are scratching their heads.  No signs of intentional dumping of sewer or fertilizer [thought some of the rejects might have dumped fertilizer to try and ruin the pond].  Dwight is going to put in his aluminum boat with motor and just ride circles for some time.  Might save me from expense of hiring big irrigation rig.  Several days of several hours of running around and around might do the trick.  County folks are going to research trhe whole watershed.  Need big rain event.  Would solve the problem.  No rain and extra warm for the next 5 days per weatherperson.  Turning it over to the Lord.  He will guide me also fix it.

Might run some trains.

Good morning all,

It is another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the 80s.  Last night was a very good night.  Our soccer team got the season off to a good start with a 5-1 win.  While I did not contribute much to the victory, I was on the field for about 30 minutes (out of 50 played) and acquitted myself fairly well.  I was mostly midfield and forward with a short stint as stopper (that was a riot).  We have a good mix of players and it may be a good season (or we may lose the rest of our games).  Was able to get home and get everything ready for work the next day before and during "Lost".  That was an interesting two episodes, but they kind of took the edge off the suspense by showing at least two people after they got off the island.  The dining car is headed for "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 67 degrees. Going up to 88 today. Looks like summer is upon us.

Today, I will be outside, working in the yard. I may mow the side yard, before it gets too hot. This afternoon, I need to do some cleaning in the train room and put some tools away for the company on Sat. Looking forward to seeing the kids after a year and a half.

Buckeye....Bridge painting will be in a couple of weeks. Have to tear the track out and remove the bridge. I will post pictures. BTW...Good luck today.

I see the Dining Car coming. Here it is. Time for breakfast.

good morning all....its a nice and cool morning here in ca ..got plans to work in the train room today some and get the new e unit in my 2025......

 

normal i am headed to bed about now but i changed my sleep pattern so i can be up during normal everyday hrs....theres a local train club for beginners i am gonna try and get involved in....mostly o scale but also ho and g...get a little hands on learning and experience. plus i need to get out the house and meet people..im turning into a hermit!

 

well i have figured a way to put in my ho and o together and am gonna draw up some plans...thanks and hope everyone is well today.!

Top of the morn'n Y'ALL,  Had a nice dinner with the family at Waffle House....including GRITS.  Only reason for WH was wife told son we would go to Bruster's Ice Cream and I highly recommened we eat something for dinner and WH was on the way.  Anyway, early case this morning and then hair cut and yard work.  I hope to get some train time in this evening.  I have been catching up on some old CTT/OGR/RR Model Craftsman.  Plenty of ideas, now I just need the time.

Good morning from New England!

Temps expected in the upper 80's today, and 90's tomorrow. Time to get out the stained white tank tops!

I painted a perfectly good starter set 4-4-2 pink last night for no other reason than my daughter asked me to. Truth be told, she did pick out a nice shade. I want to re-letter the tender for Lionel Lines. She wants it to say Julia's Train!

I tried installing 2 car speakers up to my MRC Soundstation in an effort to get better or louder sound. It ended up doing the exact opposite. Not as loud and not as good as what we were getting with the original speakers. So back they go to Walmart! 

My 2018 is back and running well. New drum and plunger in the e-unit. New pickup rollers. Smokes well! Dr. Tinker says hello!

Animal House was on cable last night. At one point, all of the Delta House pledges are in the Dean's office. Almost all of the actors  in the scene, including the Dean, are now dead!  

Watch your fingers, I'm hanging up!

Congratulations Mitch on the new position.  Since it is Maryland, you must live very near the famous Mason Dixon Line.

Chuck, is the bridge painted, yet?

Jim, it is much cheaper to ship to Ohio than California and you will need as much money as possible for a comfortable confinement.

John Baker, as long as they don't call it sweet tea, you are safe.   I assume Spain in much warmer in the summer for holiday.
