It is a sunny, 70 degrees. Going up to 88 today, with a possible afternoon shower. No rain yesterday.
Today, we are taking it easy. Had a good time with the Grandkids, yesterday. Ran trains for 2 hours, and they enjoyed it. Got pizza and played outside. It was a good day.
I may mow grass, later, if the weather allows. Not growing too fast, due to the dry ground. We need an all night rain.

We have been busy with our museum layout. This openhouse with be theamed on Baseball. So we have built a small baseball field. Have to thank LAZ for his help.

Jim, Take care with your hands. I am having trouble gripping my eating irons, especially my LH, makes it difficult to dine civilised as I can't grip a fork (RH-knife, LH fork=good table manners). I find that sometimes when the Arthritis is bad, I have to use fork with RH like a shovel, UGHH!! disgusting. A bad habit a lot of our young'uns have picked up from US films/entertainment.

Chief - thanks for posting a few "good-bye" photos of the club layout! Sure enjoyed your visit here last year and hope you can make another one someday.
The mountains will stay on the layout. Same for the track. Bridges are removed. We will block it up to try and preserve the mountains.

Well, I'm beat and having some problems with typing. I jammed a couple fingers pretty good when I slipped in the mud and landed on some cement on the patio project. Could still shovel, but couldn't hold a hammer. We dug out 8 x 8 sqft and down 8 inches. Lots of clay and rock, but that's what we grow in Jefferson County MO. Then filled with 1.5 Cubic Yards of gravel and another .75 Cubic Yard of paver sand and my friend Dave showed up to help and started laying pavers. Then a storm came in so we had to quit. Probably would have been done in another 2 hours (started at 8AM and quit at 7PM) so not as bad a job as I was epecting.

Busy day today. Thanks for all the positive thoughts on the club layout. We spent the day today stripping it down. All buildings removed for packing. All trees removed an packed. Buildings and trees sorted as there is one member not present that wants his stuff back. All signals, traffic lights, light poles, etc. removed. All control panels and wiring pulled down. We will just cut a lot of the wire. It is too much to try to salvage and way too much to try to splice. So if we find a new home for it, it will be about an 80% rewiring job (UGH). It will get stored in an upper area over a paint booth at a club members business. Pretty amazing how much we got down in one day. One or two more days and it will be in pieces and ready to transport. We had 5 - 6 of us there most of the day.
Don, the City of Dallas and surrounding areas do not preserve anything unless it is historical and even then it may get torn down. We have a neighboring city with a RR theme city property but no space. It would be tough to justify putting up a building and not have some rights or long term lease to the land. They have some plans that could include our club (they love our layout and our portable we bring to their events), but those plans may be 4-5 years out and depend on a lot of things happening just right. Same thing with our local RR museum, 4-5 years out. So we will see.

Evening all. Busy day. Replaced O2 sensor in Pam's car. Right bank this time. Replaced left bank several years ago. Dwight's scanner first said it was EGR valve. I though it diagonised it wrong. He replaced EGR and check engine came back on and car ran worse. Pam and I think we through away $293. Dwight insists he was right. Don't want to push it as he is aq buddy. Now it showed O2 like I told him. Replaced it for $140. Runs great. Hope that fixed it.
Then brought it home and changed oil and filter. Then helped her get all the plants out of the greenhouse. Watered her front and side gardens. Put down soaker hoses in garden. "Ran" them. Watered the back gardens. Got ladder and cleaned gutters, blew off the roofs with leafblower [oak and pecan blooms] and trimmed limbs back from roof with extensions trimmer. Finally got inside after taking limbs to woods at pond and checking pond. Shower and resting watching TV.
MIL is cooking bar-be-quing chickens and making homemade ice cream [bet it is cherry pineapple] tomorrow afternoon.
I am resting the rest of the holiday. Maybe get a chance to run trains.
BTW: pond is clearing [I think]. Can see piepan down to 10". Best is 18". I really think it will "clear" up but be dark from now on. That is what I want.

It was a different kind of day in SE Indiana in which we actually got some rain. Unfortunately, tomorrow is the only day central Indiana where we do not want it to rain (OK, maybe one of two counting the Brickyard), but we will be looking for "that window over Terre Haute" in order to get the race run. We are leaving at 9 AM tomorrow and so the dining car will be headed to "Points East" early. I do not realistically expect the good guys to win, but I would love some one other than Team Red or Team Green win. Lisa, I hope your husband recovers soon. I hope everyone has a good day.

Helped the church with there anual yard sale today then came home and the cfo decied its time to move all the furniture around in the living room which involves picking up the carpet to run the cable to the other side of the room. UUURRRRGGGGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Zeke can I borrow one of you assult rifles ( just kidding really wouldn't trade her for anything) She puts up with a lot to put up with me and and I with her but were great together and enjoy each other very much.
Well no one really wanted my n scale engine i put up for silent auction so I ended up buying it back for $50.00 ( basicly I gave the church $50.00) they had it in a silent auction and the book value on it per Bachmann website is $109.00 so I put a beginning bid of $50.00 on it. Just to make sure it didn't go for a little of nothin. I rather give the church some funds than let it go it is brand new never run. Its an northern 4-8-4 with 52' tender (16 wheels) . I also got some good buys there so I'm not complaining at all.

Our club is located in an old military building that has been turned over to the County Parks department. Maybe, if someone had some political clout, an Parks department facility might be an option. Certainly would take a lot of luck.

got a call today from my good buddy a staff sergeant from my unit, informing me of a cpl more soldiers i knew who have lost thier lives, and i big thanks you for saving his sons live when i was there. I dont like them calls. his son is now changing carreers Probably for the best for him...he really didnt have what it took to be out on the front line. But On a lighter note they are setting up a get together for november and i will prolly go. I miss the army so much!
other then that been a great day. working on getting my e unit put in my 2025 right now..cant wait..well hope all is well with everyone today!
Roy, enjoyed the layout videos. Perhaps we can work a deal.....I will build a building for the layout, if y'all bring it to Georgia and assemble it, on a serious note, thanks and I do hope that you are able to get her up and running again soon. I was hoping to visit it prior to disassembly.

We decided not to wait 'til Memorial Day and went ahead and grilled out today. We grilled chicken, salmon, Conecuh sausage and hotdogs, also grilled some peppers, onions and tomatoes. Boy, was it GOOD! Oldest daughter made a dry rub for the salmon with salt, black pepper, garlic, lemon zest and paprika - try it , you'll like it!
Allow me to say a big THANK YOU! to our veterans, past, present and future. God bless you for the sacrifices you make in service to our country. You are appreciated!

Roy, Nice videos, it is a shame you are losing the club layout. It seems that more and more clubs are having this problem & not just in O gauge. Guess that is the reason for more of the modular groups being formed. Real estate is just to expensive for a club layout without some sponser.

Our plans are going to School play closing tonight, (Chris is stage manager), Work tomorrow morning, Birthday dinner (Chris) tomorrow evening.
Got the guard rail up on the elevated tracks, and it seems to work. Doesn't look too bad, but certainly feels safe. Need to run a couple of more power feeds to the track, hopefully do that this weekend sometime. Also test and run the new J train. BTW anyone have any ideas of anything you can use the electronics from a PS1 upgrade for?

Today we have company coming around Noon. Train room is clean and ready for running. It will be good to see the kids again. Looks like I will have to mow grass again, tomorrow. Growing slow. Ground is getting dry. I guess that's better than floods.
Lots of racing this weekend. Big NASCAR 600 miler tomorrow. Indy will be interesting.

Well, got the package with my "Father's Day Present" in it today. Begged the bride to let me look at it....it is beautiful. Lionel H16-44 in Jersey Central with all the command, odyssy, sounds, etc. I checked it out, never been run. I got this from my favorite dealer in NJ for $175.00. When I checked the list price, it was $399.00. I had been wanting one of these since I saw the latest Lionel Catalog, but was saddened that they did not have TMCC in it. Then I find this deal and just had to have it. My bride would say I don't need any more trains, but I digress.

Put up a new flag pole today. The rain and wind on the 16th of May destroyed the old one. New one is made of much better aluminum (thicker). It did fit the old sleeve in the concrete, otherwise it would have been a much bigger job.
Local gas price actually dropped .10 from yesterday. Now $2.99 at most stations.
Picked up a set of CNJ passenger cars at LHS today but have not taken them out of the box yet. Want to take something off of the layout first so I can run them.
Everything is now out of the green house, except the container with tropical water lilies which belong to a friend.
