Good morning from New England!
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I did. Cooked out on the grill, sat in the sun, got some yard work done, viewed milfs by the pool, ran trains, watched the Red Sox. I'm brown as a (Halle) berry from being outside.
Finished Julia's pink girl's train loco and tender. Runs and looks great. Photos to come of that and my "restored" 736.
When the Chief's package gets to MA, I'll do a rain dance for Roseyville.

Busy day at work today. Lots of meeting and such. Winding down on the school year. 13 days left wth students, 14 with teachers. usually the kids settle down after the Memorial Day holiday because the end is in sight.

Don,
The J looks great! Glad you are pleased with it!
Doug and Don - how many club members do your clubs have? Send me an e-mail. I have an interesting reason for asking.
Regards, Roy

Buckeye, It is a back breaking job cleaning and repotting all those rocks, the hardest part though is trying to get rid of those darn rock weeds.
Don, The elevated track is great. With the PS2 upgrade do you get a manual smoke adjustment, like factory PS2, or strictly DCS adjustable?
All for now, to pooped to type !
Almost forgot, I'm looking for some MTH Rock Island passenger cars and it seems that nobody has them, not even the shops listed under the "find it now" icon on the MTH site. R.I. 60' Streamliners, #30-6708, 6709 & 6710. These are the red cars, Golden States. If anybody sees them at their LHS please let me know. Thanks.

Wow that thing really smokes. You better have an exhaust fan running if you run that bad boy at home. I like those guard rails I may want fashion something like that on my upper level.
Don, I was writing my last post at the same time you were writing yours. Love that smoking J. The ceiling layout looks good & should be safer with the guard rails. To bad about the mishap at the club layout. Hopefully they will change that support to avoid future problems.
Good evening,
Sounds like most had a pleasant Memorial Day. We stayed home and had a cookout for two as all the kids had other plans. Make Lamb chops on the grill, corn on the cob and asparagus. Brownies for dessert.
Did a little train work, put passengers in the rest of the new CNJ passenger cars that I got Friday. Seven car consist. Three coaches, a solarium car, a diner, a combine and a combo RPO / baggage car. They are Railking but very nice with detailed interior but do not come with any passengers installed.
John Baker, It sounds like you are really into the train simulation deal, have all the bells and whistles.
Take care,
Well hope everyone has had a great weekend, it was too short here!! I missed the Photo Fun again! But here is an update on the elevated track.
Guardrail is up, and functional. Does a great job on creating a hazard to work around also!
The following isn't a real good picture but does give an idea.
The uprights are 6" carriage bolts, with a nut at the top, 2 in the middle and 2 at the bottom. The bottom 2 secure the bolt to a flat strap attached to the top of the shelf.
Then got the J Series N&W, this past week. I purchased it while at York, and had TAS upgrade it to PS2. It is a definite winner. The only problem is the smoke. And man does it SMOKE!!
We took it down to the club and ran it Saturday pm, Just to be safe I ran our Cotton Belt first to make sure there wasn't any track issues. (Somewhat common). So then put the J on and 3/4's the way around as it is coming out of a tunnel, WHAM! Right into a protruding upright for a new track section. The J requires a 53" curve, even though the track is 72" the upright was in the path of the swing. Nothing damaged but more than a little frustrating.
Going to be able to start on our benchwork in another week or 10 days. Have to work this next weekend, so not till after that. Meantime using our temporary layout.
Weekend was good, have a cold so that doesn't help, but enjoyed a relaxing day today. Missed the majority of the races. UGH! Didn't tape them.
Later...

Good evening all,
It turned out to be a nice day in SE Indiana, which I wished it could have been yesterday. Fortunately we bought rain ponchos before we left. It was a good race yesterday between the rains. I wish the teams and drivers we were rooting for would have done better. AJ's driver was up to second at one point. Hope "Points East" enjoyed the donuts I sent earlier today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Now to continue this mornings dribble; I wonder how Mrs Chief is with him after all those pulses and roughage at the MIL I'll bet there are signs of combustion.
Lisa, I have had Gouty Arthritis for 40 odd years, was on Allopurinol 'till last summer, found it was causing Gingivitis, so now regulate my diet, avoid all offal, tea and coffee in moderation as with swig and go easy on the high octane, consume only on a daily rate 2oz red meat, 4oz fish and poultry/game, eat plenty fruit/veg/dairy produce and watch your weight. It dos not mean the end of life as with practice the relief from that exquizite pain is heaven.
Morning all!
Happy Memorial Day! Thanks to all you veterans for this glorious day!
Chief - those shipments are delayed at Sauthern Customs at the M-D Line of course!
John - Nice photos. There was a similar bascule bridge in Houston on a bayou just east of where the new baseball stadium (Minute Maid Park or whatever it might be called now) is located on the east side of downtown. I always wanted to get some photos of it but they tore it down (about 1994) when UP expanded a yard there (the bridge wasn't used for many years). It was in a very bad neighborhood and one just did not go there even in broad daylight. Many many years ago there used to be barge and small ship traffic all the way into downtown Houston, but that all declined quickly with the expanded Houston Ship Channel and turning basin.
I am flying to Denver tomorrow morning for meetings in Boulder. Back on Friday. May not be able to post.
Have a great day all!
Morning. The Nissan has put the same code back in. Got to take it to console tomorrow and see what it says.
Wife off to the mall with buddy. Got to run trains. Then assemble potting bench for Pam.
Take me out to the ball game [at night as 90 degrees here today]. Send rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love UPS. Shipping something to MA. Shows still in Raleigh. Shipping something to VA and it is already in Richmond. Seems UPS does not want to cross the Mason-Dixon. Holding package to Yankee. One going to VA mountains is due to deliver tomorrow, one going to MA is not scheduled to deliver unitl Thursday. Guess only one trip across the line a week.

Thanks Fife !! We actually have another Bascule bridge further up the river that was NYC RR & is now the N&S's . They keep it mechanically sound but don't paint it or anything ! Years ago, the Pennsy. was on one side of the river & NYC on the other side. Now it's all N&S ..
Happy Memorial Day Mornin' boys! Muggy with day-long chance of thunderboomers. Still, family wants to go to the swim club, so whenever Mrs. fifedog gets her gorgeous posterior out of bed...
"Thanks" to all who have served and still are. Dweimer - RIGHT ON about the meal tab;I hope to get the opportunity this week.
