Roy, How many cars were on that passenger train?
Lisa, sure glad that all your husband broke was his hip. Our prayers for his recovery. For your sanity I would suggest a vacation in Ohio in the near future.

Dennis, thank you! Actually, Emory was our number 2 choice if we could not get in at UAB. The cardiologist in Birmingham has written several papers on this syndrome and was one of the instructors for our local cardiologist. We're leaving things in the Lord's hands and look forward to getting past this. Course, the wife is going to have to put her arc welder and collection of chain saws up on Ebay . . . . And did I mention that she can't use a jack hammer (I am not making this up! You should have seen my wife's face when the cardiologist told her this. I was proud that she withheld the sarcastic reply I could see coming. )
Good news on the Snapper mower - got it back yesterday afternoon. They finally got the steering problem fixed (correctly!) and it runs and cuts like a dream. Got the front yard done before dark. Chief - thanks for the offer. Much longer and I would have taken you up on it!
Well, I guess I ought to say something train related. I noticed that Walter Matuch at Ready Made Toys is solliciting suggestions for road names for his products, even providing a quick e-mail link. I suggested GM&O for the new BANG and for the caboose. He sent me back a nice reply - interestingly enough, he attended the Univ. of Alabama back in the 60's and fondly remembers the GM&O alco FA's and RS's that rolled through. (And no, he did not promise to offer the GM&O scheme.) Needless to say, I'm very inpressed that a manufacturer is interested in input from his customers and responds personally!

Hope he gets better and does not stay on your nerves. If he does, pond is 12 feet deep so no problem solving your problem.
HOT and DRY. Got to put out soaker hoses. Ran one train this AM. The Atlas engines and two dummies pulling long train of hoppers, box cars, lumber load and pulpwood load cars.
Need to clean gutters and roof tops with blower too. Pam and I both have not felt good for the last 24 hours. I'm hot all the time and joints a little achey. Probably from all the ticks I have gotten off of me the last week visiting the woods and pond. Sitting and resting now. Had to go get bird food [black oil and suet blocks].
Later.

Dr. John - Hope your wife gets along OK - will remember her in my prayers.

Greg, I have had it apart and worked on it several times. It always comes down to the spring not being strong enough to push the plunger back down. I wonder where I could get a stronger spring of about the same length. In fact I would like to change it out to a TAS smoke unit, but they told me it would not fit.

Jimbo - nice pic!
Well it has finally happened. We start disassembly of the club layout tomorrow. Lease is up and no where to move it to. Storage for now.
Got an inch of rain last night and it has been raining on and off all day today. 79 today.

Thank you for that! I'll put on my pasties and give them a twirl. Clockwise for rain, clounterclockwise for hail. Or was it the other way around? Get your glasses checked. I don't have red hair! And I'm not irish either! I have another dance to get rid of algae problems. Just say the word, brutha!
That red thing is a baseball cap, not hair!
Morning all. This software gets worse with each upgrade. Was ready up on yesterday's posts and it drooped to Trains.com main page and dropped my signin.
Pond is still green but Dwight [buddy] came over and put in his 14' deep V aluminum boat with 40 hp motor. Ran it around and around at high speed for about 30 to 45 minutes. Stirred up the pond real good. Probably do that again tomorrow. Then he went fishing and caught big crappie and bream.
PS: Dr. John, I will take some of my US Airways miles and fly down with my JD and mow your grass [mine is drying up. in fact, yard inside the fence has not even turned green and grown this year as it has been so dry]. Wonder if they will let me check the JD through luggage????
What a beautiful morning it was here. Though I had to get the kids up and dressed/teeth brushed/hair brushed/fed/to the sitters, it was great! In some ways I am jealous of them. Anyway, a few cases to get done and then I can spend the afternoon with the family.
My H16-44 from The Train-Station should arrive today. While I can hardly wait, the bride says that it is my "Father's Day Present" and I can't have it till then Of course, I can spend the time between now and then and do some work on the layout.
Chief, I hope you are able to get the pond cleaned up soon. I know that it has brought you plenty of enjoyment (as well as the local hoodlums). I have never done the barley thing, but it may be worth a try. You may also be able to get a gas powered pump with a length of firehose and a sten gun to circulate the water.
Mitch, congrats on the job/position. I am sure you will take the time and make it a top notch school. We have a number of new schools going up with all the influx of Yanks moving to the area. As for the school systems, it is a good thing. Makes my property values go way up, but also makes the taxes go up too.
Hope everyone has a great day and weekend. For the Vets and for the folks who have paid the ultimate price....THANK YOU.
God Bless

Just paid £36.00/$71.00 for 37 litres/8.1/8.4 Imperial/US gallons of unleaded, don't know how thirsty your gas guzzlers are but my Honda does 50 mpg.
Forecasters got it wrong (again), warm and sunny here in Stockport
.
Have a good weekend all, may your prayers be answered.

Good morning from beautiful Ohio where the current temperature is 68 degrees going to a high of 85.
Ran the trains yesterday, and the K-Line Mikado is acting up again. The spring loaded plunger is not tripping the lever that trips the switch for the chuff sound. Has anyone changed out the spring in one of these and did it help?
The Garden RR is up and running. Need to clean trolley track for the reversing unit to work properly.
Chuck, traffic is a bit heavy today on I-71. Can't sleep.
Dr. John, I have a friend who is moving to Alabama. He will be looking for a great fishing lake. Since your wife is the outdoor type, (runs chainsaw, stacks wood, etc.) does she have a suggestion as to the best bass lake in the state. Also, the wedding is still on
See ya down the tracks,
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 86 today with sunshine, and a late shower, maybe.
Today, I will be busy outside, mowing grass and cleaning up around the house. I have to finish cleaning the train room, this afternoon. Company coming about Noon, tomorrow. Haven't had too much time to work on the layout lately. Next week, I will take out the steel bridge and get it ready for painting. Looking forward to that.
Lots of racing this weekend. Nascar Coca-Cola 600, Sunday. Indy 500, also. Three gals may be driving Indy cars.
Dining Car is here. Time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Friday.
Good morning all,
It is another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the low 80s and a chance for thunderstorms this afternoon. We could use the rain, but I do not mind skipping a week of grass mowing. I just hope it will be dry at 16th and Georgetown in Speedway, Indiana from about 9AM to about 5 PM on Sunday for the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing". I had soccer practice last night, but only 6 kids showed up. I hope more show up next week. I did manage to scan the latest CTT last night as well as the latest "Inside Track" from Lionel. Good issues from both. I had the usual fare for the dining car this morning before sending it to "Points East". I did have an extra little treat at work this morning. I saw six CSX engines being moved along the tracks to the other side of town in Indy. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good morning from a very warm New England!
I woke up this morning to hear the AC unit making growning noises. A quick check showed that it wasn't holding the temp down...so then I started making growning noises...
Julia's pink train looks great! I put a second coat on it last night.
3 weeks is average for a mower to be gone for service here. And like John, my FIL's mower seems to always need a new belt.
Short day here today. I'm heading home at 12:00!!!
Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!
good evening all....
Jim-- yes i meet with the group tomorrow night first time..kinda nervous i am such a newbie and i have never belonged to a group....should be interesting...should be fine
