Top of the mornin to Y'all! It is a good morning here in Dixie. While the smoke has been heavy at times, right now it is clear. Was very bad about 6am. Wife has to take breaths from her inhaler. Have to take tylenol often when the smoke gets bad. We have been trying to keep our dog in doors most of the time.
One idea I have made a practice for the soldiers.....if you go out for lunch/dinner and see a soldier/marine, buy their meal, if you can. We have a Marine base nearby and Ft. Benning is up the road, so it is not unusual to see troops out for a meal.
Did get plenty of yard work done yesterday and so today....IT'S TRAIN TIME! I will do some wiring and run some trains.
Jim and John, I too have had a number of times when I would lose a post and have to either retype it, or just give up. It is frustrating.
Hope everyone has a great day and week ahead.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning. It is Memorial Day 2007 and we need to remember that Freedom is not Free. It has costs for both the individual and their families from the time of our Revolution to the Mideast War.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny 63 degrees. Rained a little last night. Going up to 83 today, with sun and clouds.
Today is a normal day around here. Have a few things to do and then relax later. Yesterday, I sat in the shade a lot. Watched a couple of races. Outcome was not expected.
I see John is up already. Nice picture of Bascule bridge. That would be neat to duplicate on a layout.
The question is....Where is Buckeye ??
Dining Car is here with flags flying. Time for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Memorial Day weekend, Monday.
Chuck
Good Morning Everyone !! My Flag is up today !! It's really sunny out & nice !! Did about the same as Mitch yesterday, watch races !! We went & took some pictures of our Bascule bridge last night ! This is over the Ashtabula River & the Flag is well lit up also !! (click on !)

Morning Boys (and Miss Lisa)
Yesterday was a lazy day. Mostly watched the Indy 500 and Coca Cola 600. Did go out for a quick dinner with the Mrs.
Gotta go brew a fresh pot. What's left would peel paint or rot your stomach.
Have a great day.

Jim, It's just happened to me! I had just finished my post and pressed go; Zapp the girl in the exchange dropped a stitch and the line went dead. Phoned the telecon co. and while I was holding awaiting an answer, a man on a bike got there and fixed it.
So here goes again;
Jef, I have a PC with XP 2.2gig Athlon thingy (I have a sim prog that recommends 3gig, so an upgrade is imminent), 250gig HD. 19" LCD whatsit, 1meg graphics and all sortsa udder tings. (now completely blinded by science). Microsoft Train Simulator with add-ons. Trainz (I also have TRS2006 + add-ons), Raildriver cab control desk. The whole lot adds up to nearly 60gig of disc space and requires frequent de-fragging etc.
Run out of time, taking beloved to ride a train (I hope).
John Baker
well good night to all...hope your day was pleasant..
Good evening,
John Baker, Enjoyed that virus you emailed. What train sim software are you using?
Chief, Those squarels make good Brunswick Stew.
Take care,

John, thanks for the Heeland Coo!
Well I typed up about 500 words saying hi to Nick, Laz, Dennis, Roy, Chief etc commenting on their posts, then stating that we got the patio done for John but now they want to add a decorative surrounding and my hand is doing some better, and then this crummy site killed my post! GRRRRR....
Have a good one guys.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good night all. Back from MIL's. Where I had to grill. Was told I would not this time. No one had done a thing until I got there. Good bar-be-qued chicken, corn on the cob, greenbeans, boiled potatoes, baked beans and cole slaw. LOTS OF SWEET ICE TEA.
Now to rest.

Good evening, all! It's been hot and hazy today - beginning to feel like summer. The dry spell continues down here.
Laz- Hogzilla got that big on fresh air and clean living. Can't blame it on grits!
Lisa - Sorry to hear husband has gout. Wife has it from time to time and she tells me it's pretty painful. Hope his hip is mending quickly.
Buckeye - Check your e-mail. I anwered your "inquiry" about Bear Bryant.
Family talked me into grilling out again tomorrow. They didn't have to twist my arm very hard.
Good Evening everyone. Heavy smoke the last few days. On the way to Church this morning, it looked like heavy fog with a fireplace smell. No rain, and plenty of heat to make it tough for those fighting the fires. Church was great and we had several groups of people who had seen the movie and came to visit. Some from Illinois, Texas, and Tennessee. Nice to see folks from all over the country come to the deep south.
Roy, hope you and the group get a layout soon. We have a museum at the local depot and they have a HO layout in an old Southern boxcar. Perhaps, if they can get some old boxcars and have them side by side, you could build something with that.
Chief, glad the pond is getting clear. Hope y'all are able to diagnose the source and stop future occurance.
Lisa, Hope the husband continues in his recovery. In the end, you are very blessed in that it could have been much worse.
May everyone have a good day tomorrow and please take pause to remember the fallen and those who continue to fight for our freedoms.
Roy, do you remember reading in CTT the article about the layouts set up for the Holidays for Toys for Tots? Something like this could tide your club over until a permanent home is found. The exposure at a minimum might help you find a place in a shorter period of time.
Doug, how can you be sore from landscaping in Southern California? Don't you have rocks instead of grass in your front yard? When I was in Escondido many years ago I was shocked to see colored rock lawns.
Doug,
There are two places we have worked in the area. One is a mid-cities area where they run a steam train and have some land, but no buildings. The other is the Dallas Age of Steam museum. Both have interest in our club and detailed layout but both entities are 4-5 years away from any new facilities (and that assumes funding happens). We presently set up our portable layout when they have an event.
Regards, Roy
Good afternoon all....nice quiet sunday here!
taking the beagle to the lake today ...see if he likes the water or not.... about 95 right now so myself i am gonna try and jump in havent been in the water since my legs been bad so we shall see how that goes...
workin in the train room tonight hopefully...
well have a great day!
Hey all !
Gorgeous day today. Unfortunately the back is a bit sore from all the landscape work the past several days, although I did take friday off to run trains at the museum. The bad part is I still have a BUNCH to do yet.
Roy, That's a bummer that your club has lost it's space. Any museums in the area that might be a match for the club ? We are extremely fortunate in that regard, although it did take us quite some time to be given a permanent spot.

SWSBO decided Castleford shopping centre would be better than 5 SD40s lugging coal, so there we went. Boy! what a deluge washed most of the BS off Honda. She got was a pair of nice shoes, I got 3 bags of shelled nuts "very appropriate" says she. Nearly bought some special eating irons, but chickened out; Im 68 not 88! I will not let Arthur win just yet.
Indi 500 on Sky3 right now (1830BST). I chose some years ago (after Skys rates trebled in 3 yrs) to give them a miss, so I can't watch it even if I wanted to. Sorry but sport of any kind just leaves me cold. I am sometimes envious of the sport Billies as I can't understand their entheusiasm.
Just turned the TV on, some silly buggers camping out in New Zealand pretending to be castsways being filmed by 20 camera men. Sod it! going over to the Armoury for a drop of Robbies best wallop.
Morning all!
Should be Father's day today instead of a few weeks from now. An entire day of racing on tap. Hope the weather holds.
Tom - no we do not have another home for the layout. Wish we did. We have been discussing and exploring options, but none have panned out. We will keep trying. We will still meet as a club, but now we will go to members home layouts (we do that currently) and to visit other layouts (N, HO, & O scale and an three rail modular group) in the area.
Raining here again today. Keeping things cool. Last year I think we were in the 90's already.
Have a great day all!
Hi all, Been working away all week. Very busy at the moment. Will take me a while to catch up on the "pot".
Had some good news on Boco (our Golden Retriever). The vet found he had a brain haemorrhage. However he is well on the mend and should be home next week. Just don't ask what the vet bill is Lets just say that the £2.5K insurance won't cover all of it....
My RR Track software has arrived but is now locked in the Post Office till Tuesday (duty to pay) due to the Bank Holiday on Monday. Its pouring with rain here and I actually have some time on my hands..typical.
Just watched the F1 Grand Prix from Monaco. Good race I won't say the result in case any of you guys get to watch it later.
Looking forward to Ilkley show next weekend. I will be taking some pics to give you a show report. You might be unlucky and get to see John B and I with a cold one.
Hope your weather is better than it is here
Have a good one

ROY, nice layout, too bad it has to come down.
DR. JOHN, just got done reading about another HOGZILLA, that was shot down south by a 12 year old six grade boy. Was that HOG raised on GRITS?

JIM - I can understand why - she is a doll!
Thanks to all for the prayers and well wishes for my hubby - things are progressing s l o w l y and now I think he has developed gout in his left foot - at least it's the same side as the broken hip or I'd be in really big trouble!

Mornign all and hats off the allthe Vets
Things have been busy and trying to catch up on all the posts. Beautiful in Southern Ohio. Ready to mulch outside later this evening or tomorrow. Church this morning and a graduation party for a friend this afternoon.
Lisa - sorry to hear about your husband, I hope healing is happing fast!
Roy - Can't imagine what it must feel like to take apart so quickly what took so long to put together. I hope you find a suitable place to set up. Shame to have stuff in boxes where folks can't enjoy it. I bet you've got ideas to improve the wiring next time.
