Good evening all,

It was a beautiful day in SE Indiana with temps dropping into the 70s.  I had the day off due to a four day work week, and so I did the housework and Lucas and I got the yard mowed.  All the chores are done and the temps should be good tomorrow to run trains in the attic.  My wife and I went to see "Pirates of the Cariibbean".  It was long and a little bit confusing, but it was good.  They had qualifying for the IRL race in Texas and somebody other than Team Green or Team Red claimed pole position (Scott Sharp).  Bran muffins were on the dining car this morning for breakfast for "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I have a question for those of you who are affectionately referred to as "Computer Geeks". What I laffingly call my computer knowledge is extremely obsolete . 15yrs or so. Dunce [D)]Eight Ball [8]Black Eye [B)]

Now, my question is "What is required, simplified version please, to do a webcast" ? We now have hi-speed net access at the museum which was initially intended for wireless use but there was a frequency difficulty with the "ChooChoo Cam". One of our members is donating some new hardware but we won't have wireless capability, but we will be able to multi-computer access thru ethernet cabling.

Call me KOOKOO but if it can be done w/o hi-cost hardware it would be way cool, showing my age, to have computer cam broadcast from several places on the layout thruout the day. Clown [:o)]Whistling [:-^]

Good morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear, sunny 60 degrees. Going up o 80 today with less humidity and no rain. Got about 2 hours of rain yesterday.

Today, I have a few chores to do around the house. Grass is cut and weeded. Could be an easy day. I think I will take some pictures outside and take a walk. I need to take some time for trains. They need a dusting again. Maybe this afternoon.

Dining Car has arrived with full stock. " Points west " has left a lot for the choosing. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Jim,
You want a bunch of Pokemon' cards?  I have a small collection that my ex-wife left (don't ask) and I have no use for... will save me the trouble of cataloging them and posting on E-Bay - there are a few that were worth some dough back in 2000.

If interested, email me bleister88@gmail.com

I can mail them before the move so they don't get lost or damaged.

zeke - Hey, brother, didn't see you sitting there.  Good night.

Blueberryhill - your boy is starting outside row 3 tomorrow.  Gibbs teams have been strong at POCONO as of late.

88 - I'd like to try late fall for Cumberland.  The Narrows is covered with evergreens on the hill.  I can still run trains for the time being.

Laz57 - Did you get your invitation for the Soprano's farewell party at the Hard Rock Cafe in FL tomorrow night...?

Morning to All,

Lots of folks up early today. Last night we went to dinner and then to see Knocked Up with the Mrs. & the Boy (The Mrs. wanted to see it). some funny parts but too much pot smokin'  & drug humor for my tastes. The Mrs. was flabbergasted at all the skin and booze/drug humor. She thought it should have been x-rated.  She has led a sheltered life. She'd probably die if she ever saw a real X-rated movie.

Going to a retirement party for a lady I worked with at the very beginning of my career. She's a few years older than me though.  She and her hubby are leaving Maryland and moving to Texas to be closer to a son and grandkids.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone,

Exams are almost done, I have two more left on Monday, and then they're done. I am going to be so happy to get all that stress away from me. Two days after school is done, I go to Florida with my family.

I'm heading to the doctor today. We're trying to figure out why I've had this cough for two weeks without any other symptoms. We know that I don't have allergies, so we're at a dead end.

I hope everyone has a good day, and I'll try to check in later.

Morning all,

Jim - The Krylon paint is great.  There are some that are dead ringers for a color match for the old American Flyer accessories.  And I can tolerate a slight color difference when you look at 99 cents compaired to $19 + for original color.

Buckeye - Wish I had thought to ask about train shops where we were going earlier;  there is one train shop in near Portsmouth as far as I know.  Went to Henni cheese for the first time.  Came out with $40 in cheese.  Really good cheese.Dinner [dinner]

Roy- I feel your pain with your daughter's new licence.  Youngest daughter had licence a week before first accident, oldest 10 months.Sad [:(]  If you decide to get her a car, if I may reccomend, find an older tank (i.e. Delta 88, Caprice, Caddy anything full size).  Reason, lots of protection, and it is not "cool" so it becomes "essential trip transportation", not joy ride cruise the strip car.  Been there done that got the tee shirt.Blush [:I]

Zeke & John - I love my 96 2500 GMC truck.  It has the 6.5 turbo diesel.  Easily pulls my 29' fifthwheel, and on our recent trip got 21 MPG.Shock [:O]

I got word last Wednesday that I am being re-assigned to a straight day job.Sigh [sigh]  Some staff re-alignments created a need so I received an un-soliceted promotion to "interum" plant training manager.  Since we're transitioning from prototype to comercial plant, there is going to be a big influx of personnel.  Not really what I had in mind at this point, but hey if God leads you to it, he will lead you through it.  It will be an increase demand on my time since I had a similar role years ago before I returned to operations.

Got to go

May God bless

Jim

Good Morning everyone.  Watching Trains and Locomotives on RFD.  Today's episode is on the Chessie Safety Express, with the 614 excursion runs of the early 80s.  The videographers did a good job in that many of the scenes have older buildings in the background.  Lots of nice shots.  They also had a clip on the Baltimore roundhouse fire.

Still not sure what we will be doing today.  Was quite a storm last night with plenty of rain.  While we won't have to water the trees today, I hope the firefighters fighting the forest fires got some relief.

Hope to get some wiring done on the layout tonight.   This past week took it's toll on me and I am still tired.

For those looking for hobby shops, the main page of CTT's site has a "hobby shop locator".

God Bless,

Dennis

Don't know what to make of it!!  Here we have the Chief, an emissary on a sojurn to the Wild West, trying to bamboozle a local guy out of his shirt, and it didn't work.  Reality was probably more like the Chief wanted to trade shirts since selling battery chargers for boats wasn't doing to well in the desert.  He is lucky cause the UP located their could decide to discontinue the NS operations, then he would be sorry.  So stay out of the sun, and be careful while you are there Chief, you never know who may be lurking behind those rocks!

Have a great day all,  going to go and buy some lumber and get to work.

Jim, We are pretty much in the same boat.  My wife still works 4 days a week so I am on my own for that time.  She talks about retiring but I don't think she will anytime soon.  She has to be doing something every minute.

Morning all.  fife, does the chicken wire on your layout keep those chickens off?  You know, the ones running in and out the hole in your front screen door.  Feed them a couple of handsful of dry grits and they will not be scratching around on your layout.

Roy, major pile up on US60 here.  Thought maybe your daughter took a wrong turn and ended up in AZ. Shock [:O]Wink [;)]

Off to the store.  OH BTW: Grits in AZ as the Cracker Barrel is next door to BPS.  Battery Reps wife [originally from AK] says GRITS in all grocery stores here.  That makes AZ a SOUTHERN state.

Jim, anytime you are traveling in Ohio, just let me know and I bet I have been to a train store the area.  If you are ever in Akron, you must visit Glenn's.  It is just a warehouse full of trains.  Of course, it is very disorganized.

Good morning to the gentlemen and ladies of the forum, you too fifedog. (Chief taught me that trick. )Wink [;)]

Speaking of the Chief, I assume he is still in the flop house in Phonex without internet access, so here goes:

The Chief was driving home from a BPS Grand Opening in northern Ontario when he sees an Indian thumbing for a ride on the side of the road.
As the trip had been long and quiet, he stops the car and the Indian gets in.

After a bit of small talk, the Indian notices a brown bag on the front seat. "What's in bag?", the Indian asks the Chief.

The Chief says, "It's a bottle of wine. I got it for my wife."

The Indian is silent for a moment then says, "Good trade."

Chuck, great news the new neighbors are from New Jersey, not Georgia.

Roy,  I believe they have a kid tracker you can put on that car and monitor their whereabouts from your home computer, but then again Texas is so big and filled with a lot of cows, where can she go?

Morning, all!

Chief - Enjoy your stay in AZ. We spent a week there last summer for vacation. Flew into Phoenix, stayed in Sonoma, visited Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, etc. Beautiful state! And yes, we had no trouble finding grits either! Big Smile [:D]

Zeke - Happy to hear about your truck purchase! Sounds like a great truck for errands and to tinker on. Wife's grandfather had an old '74 Ford F-100 that I tinkered on for him long ago. He passed away about 15 years ago. I had hoped to buy it but it was sold by his local family in estate sale before I had a chance. Oh well.

Finished a few light honey-do's this a.m. May cut grass this evening. Not growing much with the dry weather. We did have a nice shower yesterday evening, maybe an inch and a half of rain. Possibility for more rain today but skies are clear right now.

Enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

Mornin' all, afternoon some,

We survived the first night of solo driving.

Buckeye - if she gets lost and ends up in Ohizo, watch out!

Hot already today. 90 and very humid again. At least the weather stayed pleasant for the duaghter's B-Day pool party last night.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Good Morning from the land of Midnight Sun!

It has been a while since I last posted to the forum but I have had a chance to drop by once in a while and read a few threads (which of course always includes reading a few pages from this special group) as time permits. I noticed Don's post wondering if I was snowed in. I am happy to report that we are snow free!  It is currently 59°f and heading up to 78° this afternoon, clear skies and light breeze (the sun & breeze keep the skeets at bay). Here is the best part to report from Fairbanks– no headlights or flashlights needed, riding my bicycle for daily transportation, traded winter coat for raincoat, and my summer students will be arriving on campus in one week!

June 9, 2007

      Sun Rise

      Sun Set

Actual Time       3:11 AM AKDT       12:30 AM AKDT

Have had no time for O-gauge hobby (will be plenty of time for that next fall) but all is well in the north. Summer is in full swing in the north.

I was riding past the ARR terminal here in Fairbanks yesterday and witnessed the longest ARR passenger hook ever. At least 8 ARR (state) cars, then 4-5 princesses tour passenger cars, then another 6-7 passenger cars from another tour company (can't remember which). All pulled by several SD 70 Macs. The entire outfit was polished and gleaming right down to the rails- not a speck of dirt or dust could be seen. Was a pretty impressive sight eve for this Alaskan and I am sure all the tourista's were loving it as well! I will try to get a few pictures to share or a video of in the next few weeks. The ARR runs right along the edge of the university’s campus on a right-of-way.

Best wishes to all you guys I will keep checking in from time to time.

Best regards!  Kevin T.
