Afternoon everyone,

I have a sinus infection, so nothing too bad, which I am thankful for. I hope everyone had a good day, and has a good evening.

I let her get stuff she wants most of the time and I get my train things so it works out she really isn't interested in the pottery she more interested in other things she like yard sales and thrift store gotta love a woman like that lol

Boy is it Hot here!  Kevin, open the door, we need some cooling.  Was 98 today.  We ended up going to the Herritage center where they have a very well done HO layout.  Also have a 4-6-2 that they are restoring.  I am not completely up on which steamer this is, no cab yet, but the rest looks to be close to finished.  The tender says Georgia Northern, but I noticed the trucks on it say "erie RR".  They also have a HO club layout in a REA car.

Bride is taking daughter shopping.  Hope they don't stay out long $$$$, also the storms are heading in.  Son and I will go up and work on the layout.

Don, I will try again to post on your question regarding your layout.  Have one idea, but it does look good.

Whoa, talk about a yard sale !!!!!

The other half did her yard sale trek this morning and didn't find much of anything but decided what the heck I'll make this one last stop. Talk about a great decision ! Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  They were disposing of the last of their grandfathers possessions that the rest of the family had no interest in keeping. Whistling [:-^]

For $40, she came home with an LGB starter set, 0-4-0 steamer with two passenger cars, Lake George & Boulder, an LGB Pabst woodside reefer, a Bachmann Christmas gondola and an LGB AT&SF bobber caboose. As well as enuff extra track to make an oval about 5' x 14'. Approve [^]

They told her that they couldn't get it to run, so if she had any problems she could bring it back. Don't know what their problem was but it has been running for about 3 hrs now with no sign of any failures. Blindfold [X-)]  Eventually will need new track connectors but as of now no connectivity issues. Blush [:I]

Way to go Doug!  Colin, take the antibiotics and you'll be fine.  I used to get sinus infections every year, but now on Claritin D and Flonase and no infections since.  Buckeye better watch out or Chief will go to the store and cover Buckeye with Grits before he leaves!  Zeke - great deal on teh truck, guess I forgot to post on that.  Hi Kevin, keep watching the northern border.  The Soviets - uh, I meen Putinites might try sneaking some nuke subs through again.

Worked 4 hours OT then to a local Hot dog place for lunch, meeting the wife and kids coming from swim practice with our friend Dave and his kids.  Then he wanted to go to Festus to a comic book store so we followed.  The guy is selling trains too!  He is strictly MSRP but very nice guy and so I bought a couple plasticville kits to show my support.  Got the covered bridge and coal tower.  My daughter was sad, cause he didn't have any cows.  She wants a whole herd now.  They had already put together houses, but at $39 a little pricey for me.  Anyway, I'll try and give him some more business.  He indicated he had a bunch of old 30's - 50's Lionel at home in boxes....  Hmmm, might want to follow up on that if it's not stuff he cares about anymore.  Maybe make a few deals!  Gotta go to dinner in a minute, so TTFN guys.

The chief is going to P on Buckeye St, Can he do that? A guy I worked with would tease me about my home town(Toledo) and the beautiful muddy Maumee river. He said he stopped on the bridge and p'd in it. The yellow spot is still there. so i would get even by calling his home town Wilkys berrys (PA).IT went on for years and nobody won. I received my ebay frt. car today, as listed, 1991 still new in box. I'm planning to look in later to see who drop by.

Laz,

Was wondering what brand of wood planer you would recommend for a home woodshop.  I have been looking at getting one.  My late father had a fairly well equipped woodshop.  There is still quite a lot of rough cut lumber in the shop.  I was given the radial arm saw but the planer is just too large.  Was thinking that a three blade unit would be a better investment but there are a few two blade units that seem adequate for what I want to do.

Buckeye,

Still viewing the world from the bridge?

Geez,  the Cubs scored four runs in the first inning tonight.  Braves managed to score two runs in their half of the first.  Trying to decide whether to go to the Indians-Braves game next Saturday in Cleveland or go to a family function.   About the same distance either way but the family gathering would be less expensive.  Game is tied now.  Update! Braves leading 5 to 4.

Think Karen and I will take advantage of this great weather and go for a walk.

At home by myself tonight! Approve [^]Big Smile [:D]Thumbs Up [tup]Cool [8D]Happy B-Day [bday]  Wife is at some bachelorette party for a friend of her's that shouldn't be getting married... Let's just say for a Catholic she sure doesn't act like it...  Tells her priest she is doing one thing then does the opposite... hasn't told him she is living with her fiance... and now she is pregnant!  Whistling [:-^]  I really don't want to go to the wedding on a moral/religous level, but wife is the Matron of Honor, so I guess I'll put up with it!

Just realized how boring it is when you have everything packed away, no trains to run, and nothing on TV... so I went to Best Buy and picked up some movies for the night... then realized all the Antiguan Rum is packed away too! Sad [:(]

Just me and the cats... and the female just pucked on the dresser... that was just lovely... cleaned it of so the wife didn't see it, and so it doesn't mar the finish... watching Babel right now... strange movie...

Really wish we were in the new house... at least I would have something to do!  LOL!

88, Why do cats always wait until the wife is gone before they do something to make a mess?  Same thing happens here all the time with our cat.

Not yet.  Just got back from dinner at the waffle house.  I had waffles and cheese grits.  Chees grits are better, but they still put all this melted butter in there that I don't like - just way too much.  I tried to drain it off, but only a little luck, so I couldn't eat them all.  I was full from the waffles anyway though.

88, what movies did you get?  I just got a load of dvds I bought from deepdiscount for 20 percent off, including Monk Season 4, Tales from the Crypt Season 5, South Park Season 6, Seven Deaths in the Cats Eye, Seven Blood Stained Orchids, The Mario Bava Set Vol 1, Lizard in a Woman's Skin, and Pan's Labyrinth.  I wait for these sales to get the sets I want.

Good evening,

Kevin, nice to hear from the northland.

Sounds like everyone but Brent is having a good weekend.

Was working on the LNE A-B-A TMCC conversion today.  The B is finished, now working on the leading A which started out as a dummy.  Added a power conversion truck to the rear truck and installed an electrocoupler on the front.  Wired up an LED headlight but have not mounted it yet.  Want to build a cab from gray ABS and put in figures.  Think I will light it with a yellow LED and see how it looks.  Also want to use LEDs to light the marker lights.  All this will take a while as I am slow.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Greg - do you have a jointer too, or is the model you got a jointer/planer?  If you go from a big machine that does both, you will need to buy separate smaller tools.  First you joint and then you plane.  Otherwise the planer will follow the board and you'll end up with a smooth but crooked board.  Right Laz?

Evening.  Dougsnotagrump and Don B, how do you stand being three hours off from the rest of the world?  I'm eating and signing on the forum while most are going to bed.  Can't even start a fight with Buckeye, Chuck or John S.  Even Kieth W is asleep.  Even got to see The Misfits on Western Channel its so late for everyone else.  They say they had a time making that movie as MM was drunk or stoned on drugs most of the time.  What a shame.  Up early MST and off to airport.  Long flight home.  No big seats so far.  Got window seat on exit row so extra room.  Colin, good luck on exams.  Miss you on thr forum.  Good night.

Hey Cheif,

You should moan? Three hours is nothing, we're six to eight ahead of you and I've just got out of bed and promptly fallen over AGAIN! This problem with my balance is going to result in a visit to the Vet. if I can make it without the help of a paramedic?

It all adds to the joy of growing old.

0900GMT in a very sunny and warm Stockport +17C and rising- +25C expected midday, Phew!

Hi Zeke, Thanks for the sympathy, have put more drops into the orifici, not much improvement though, so I guess it must be an infection requiring a visit to the Vet.

That video is a fair treat. The graphics on that simulator are awsome, bet they need a lot of computer to run those? I have a daughter lives in Perth Western Australia. Sent second ex-wife over to stay but she came back!

The Ausy steam and early diesels were based on British prototypes, the later stuff is US manufactured under licence in Australia, they also use a lot of Jap gear for the passenger (MU) fleet.

Morning Everyone

I brewed a fresh pot. I'm up and kickin and Zeke's just going to bed... He keeps the same hours as my 22 year old.  I was like that once.  During college I never went to bed before 3:00 (AM), now it's a rare night if I can stay awake til midnight.

A few months back I wrote about my buddy Dave who had kidney failure due to a rare condition. Well now the poor guy has had to have bypass surgery.  They did 5 bypasses and repaired a congenital whole in his heart on Tuesday.  He is such an upbeat positive guy.  I spoke to him for a few moments on Wednesday and he seems to be doing well.  I hope to go visit him today if his wife says he is up for visitors.

Not much else to report on here.  Four more days with kids, then I can begin to get ready for the new job.

Take care,

Mitch
