Toots
Today, I will be doing the usual chores around the house. Maybe mow the back yard later. This week, I will buy the paint for the bridge painting.
Dining car is here with all kinds of goodies. ( except grits ). It is time for breakfast. Be back later.
Y'all have a great Monday. Chief will.

A very special Grant Wood Birthday Greeting from Iowa for our friend, Chief. Most of you didn't know that Chief had Iowa connections, look at the way he holds that pitch fork, I'm not sure his girl friend in that shot trusts him though.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY FRANK!!!

So many roads, so little time.
Good morning all,
It is another sunny warm day in SE Indiana with the temps in the 70s. A warm Hoosier greeting is being sent south in honor of the Chief's birthday, without whom none of us would be gathering at the coffeepot. I hope you celebrate the day with grits and lots of sweet iced tea.
I spent an interesting two days watching the nephew and the two nieces play soccer on Saturday and Sunday going to a wedding reception for a friend's daughter who got married in California in March. Both days were longer and more tiring than they should have been. I have an odd couple of weeks ahead of me with classes in the evenings on Mondays and Thursdays. I will not be getting home until 9 PM those days.
I see where the dining car already arrived at "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
I took Friday off to get some things done around the house. One of those things was painting my green K-Line Pacific black. It came out nice! I'm letting it dry a while before re-assembly and decals. She's a looker now!
I also began a painting project of another kind last night, again, with very pleasing results. I started painting the plastic ballast on my FasTrack. I used a black wash to bring out the details. It looks great and so much more realistic. The painted ballast is considerably darker, but also has the crevises blackened to make all the stone detail pop! It looks very much like I really ballasted the rails.
Got what I thought was a mild sunburn on Saturday. But now it hurts! This on a guy who really shouldn't be in the sun.
Mornin' CHIEF. (Take 2) - - What will you be doing on your special day?
Spankybird - was that NS yard photo a metaphor for being "over the hill"?
Blueberry - still pretty damp here int the Mid-Atlantic, but NASCAR should still be able to squeaze the race in...probably not all 400 laps.
Morning. Thanks for all the well wishes. For my Yankee "friends" , thank you for a good year of "battle". For my REB friends, thanks for the help fighting those hardheaded Yanks. We will fill this coming year with GRITS and SWEET ICE TEA.
Got to get ready to go into Raleigh [hate the traffic]. Busy day. Sure glad for the rain. Been blessed with another great year. Got to travel, meet friends, catch fish and buy trains. OH, big accomplishment. Trains off of the crapet.
God bless.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIEF!
I want all you to know that the Chief has been watching what has been happening with oil prices rising and all and this got him to thinking. With all those oil wells out there, the chance for oil well fires increases and being the good Rosyville resident he is he thought there needed to be an alternative to the "big boys" should a well fire occur in NC (there are only 3 oil wells in NC).
Well sure enough, the one well in Rosyville caught fire and the owner called Red Adair and asked what the cost was to put it out and recap the well. The Adair company quoted him $300,000 to show for the first week + expenses. Well my goodness that is a lot of money for just one well so the owner decided to call Boots and Coots. Boots and Coots quoted $200,000 to show for the first week + expenses. The owner thanked them, but said he just had the one well and that sure was a lot of money that he couldn't afford. So the owner happened across the Rosyville Rascal's Urol Well CONtrols Specialists (CON spelled in caps on purpose). The Chief explained how his new patented process seals wells quickly with GRITS. So the ower asks the Chief what he charges and he said he would do it for $2,500 cash on the barrel since the owner was a local boy and all. Well the owner said come on out and "git 'er done!"
The well owner is waiting by his property for the Rosyville Rascal's Urol Well CONtrol Specialists to show up and off in the distance comes this pickup truck driven by the Chief with a bunch of good ol' boys in the back. The truck careens onto the property and to the utter amazement of the owner drives right into the middle of the fire! Everyone jumps out - shovels and GRITS are flying and they literally stomp the fire out with their feet. The whole thing is over in about 20 minutes.
The owner is absolutely astounded and he walks up to the smouldering Chief and his crew and says he was so impressed. "Here is your $2,500 for the job and here is an extra $500 for you (the Chief) plus a $100 bonus per man for getting this taken care of so quickly." The well owner then asks the Chief and his men what they are going to do with the extra money.
The Chief replies "I don't know about the other boys but the first thing I'm gonna do is get the brakes on that truck fixed!"
Regards, Roy
ROY now there is 1002 uses for GRITS.
Happy Birthday Chief, and hopefully many more to come.
Wow, these past few weeks have been very busy. I wish I had more time to check in but school has taken over for a few more days. We had off today because of the Seniors graduating, so I have an extra day to start preparing for exams. I have finals Thursday, Friday, and Monday starting this week.
Nothing has changed in the trainworld here. I did watch The Soprano's last night. What a sad way for some of those trains to go. That Blue Comet was a heck of a train too.
I'll check in when I can.
Colin,
Good luck with your finals.
Thunderstorms building here. Ground is soggy from 2 weeks of almost daily rain. It's a good thing!
Chief,
Happy Birthday! I heard that they will be opening a BPS in Washington, PA. If you are going there, feel free to contact me as I am not too far from Washington.
I am going to buy an Xbox 360, and I remember you talking about one a while back. What do you think of it?
I hope everyone is having a good day. I discovered a problem with my 675, so will start a topic concerning it.
Roy, did you move to Massachusetts? It can rain for weeks at a time up here. We have a 100 year rain storm 2 - 3 times a year!
So here it is, the Roseyville Rascal's birthday, and he's off running around in his pickup truck instead of spending it with his friends here. Southerners...
Have a great birthday, Chief!
See everyone else here tomoprrow.
Thanks Roy.
Jimtrumpie, I love my 360. I got my laptop right after I got the 360, and I am running Windows Media Center Connect so I can have the two share information. I am currently using my free 1 month trial of Xbox Live Gold, and that is what what puts it over the top. My family and I are in the process of converting our DSL service over to Verizon FiOS so we can have all 3 laptops in the house wireless as well as my 360 mixed in for Xbox Live (I am buying the wireless adapter and the 13 month live subscription). So overall I love it. I have had no problems so far, and I hope it stays that way. BTW, if you do get it, and get live, my gamer tag is ww11 v3t. We have to game sometime, and get Call of Duty 3, thats what I always play on live.
I went out and bought Forza 2 last Thursday. Can't wait to try it. I was looking at Call of Duty 3 as well. What level of Live do I need? I also bought a Nyko Intercooler EX just in case I need it. How long have you had your 360?
Jim,
In order to play games on the internet, you need to get Xbox Gold edition. When your subscription ends, the membership is downgraded to Silver. When you have silver, you can only chat and download demos. For 1 year of Gold, it is $50, and an extra month is added. I have had my 360 since last July when I got it for my birthday. I just bought a 30 inch (I think) Hi-Def TV for my room so I can game whenever I want. I did hear that Forza 2 wasn't that good. My friend Jake downloaded the demo, and he doesn't like it. His friend plays Project Gotham Racing on live and is ranked in the top 10 in the world, and he couldn't play the game well.
Buy Call of Duty 3........trust me, you won't regret it. Also, look at Crackdown, Need For Speed Carbon, Project Gotham 3 Racing, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Vegas.
