HI GIZ,

Happy B-Day [bday]CHIEF, wish you many more.

RT thats my boy.

ZEKE nice find at the yard sale.

JELECTRIC, you were right with all the boxes at BARRYs TRAIN SHOP.  BARRY told me he has to go back down to KY, and get about 2 and a half more vans of stuff.  Lots more engines and rolling stock.

SPEAKING of BARRYs, I scored big yesterday got a uncataloged K-LINE ERIE F3 ABA, both A units powered by two motors ,and the ABA all have smoke units plus a set of 5 PULLMAN HEAVEYWEIGHTS, they are all lite and have people in them, a list value ofver $1000 all for $422 out the door.  He bought up 31 of these sets and had them listed on his mailing list on Thursday.  I got the 30th set there is only 1 more there.  It is a beauty and ran them last nite for my brother and friend.  We ran trains for about 2 hrs, only one minor pile up, friends first time on TMCC.  Got him hooked though and sold him my other TMCC set.  He also bought the K-LINE GP38 BARRY had there all TMCC and smoke and 2 motors he was selling them for $195.  GREAT DEALS AT BARRYs.

2 and a half days left o school.

BIG TRAIN STORY on the SOPRANOs tonite the title of the show tonite is "The BLUE COMET".

All be good.

Laz, A guy bought one of those Erie sets when I was in Thrursday.  Funny part was that his wife was with him and she kept urging him to buy more.  He better hang onto her! Smile [:)]  Those sets sure were nice, no doubt about it.  I'll have to ask Mike to let me know when the next batch arrives, so I get the inside track.Big Smile [:D]  I normally stop in once a week but hadn't been in for a couple of weeks so it was just luck.

I didn't buy any as I have a self imposed rule about only buying 5 road names for engines and cabooses.  Also don't buy anything of a prototype newer than 1959.  This helps me to not spend quite all my money on trains.

JON let me know when he gets the next shipment?  Probably won't be down till JULY?  Sooner if the shipment comes inWink [;)].

I actually got some train time in and finished all the lead drops for my main level of track.  I still have to do the upper most level and then run the mains, but that should not be any problem.  Taking it easy, watching a little of "Deadliest Catch", what a way to make a living.  Anyway, hope everyone has a great day.

DENNIS,  I agree what a way to make a living. Love the show.  A friend of mine we play HS football together worked on a boat up there a few years saved up money and ran his own boat fished for salmon and did a little crabbing there.  He loved it now is retired at 51 still lives there.  Had to pay $150,000 for his license back in the 80s.

not sure if I'm going to go bench work type or as my freind calls it pingpong table layout . I'm guessing I will have about 7' by 13' to work with. never done banch work style befor always have done table top layouts. I like table top type as I can make it into sections so I can break it down if need be (ie moving) a lot easier.my first plan is to build some shelf work to display my trains so I can see what all I really have lol.

Unfortunately, word of mouth is the best method.  If you don't know anybody to ask locally, check back here.  I am sure that some folks have experience having MTH engines repaired.

With "Deadliest Catch" one episode was of a guy falling off another boat and one of the ships from the show saving the guy.  One can only imagine the emotion of saving someone from certain death, unless you've been there.  We had it in the FD, and some have had it in other fields.  Have had it in surgery, but that is by far a more controlled situation.

Hoping to get a good start to the week with yard work and get the main lines run for the layout wiring.  Will be time for making a control panel and scenery soon.

Have a great night.

Dennis

In my life experience if something don't feel right it probably isn'tSmile [:)] but I am not there so I am not a very good judge.

A hobby shop in my area who I will not name is a very friendly and helpful but the Messyness and unorginization of the place is kind of a turn off.  I have just gotten used to the mess and found they have just about anything you want but you have to sort thru it.

Good evening all,

Just a quick note to let you know I had a relatively quiet weekend.  Did watch the IRL race where Team Green won again.  The only consolation was that the "Evil Empire" had a best finish of ninth.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hi GIZ,

Just got done watchin the SOPRANOs.  Great TRAIN SHOP scene but or " LOCO HOMO" got taken out.  Yes BIG BOBBY is gone. they shot him about 8 times landed on the layout and looked like a NYC Hudson crashed right on top of him.  RIP BOBBY.  Pretty good show though.

Laz - SSSHHHHWWEEET!  Man, that's a nice set!  Sounds like Soparanos was good - maybe somebody will put the train store part on yourtube...

Nick and John Baker - Nice pic!  Glad to hear no probs on the turns.  My Transylvania RR 0-6-0 had to be loosened right away, but the Copper Range ran for hours before it started pushing cars off the curves.  I s'pect you are right and it's the O27 versus O or 36 turns.

Well, I'm full of beans (ate at La Pachanga, local Mexican place) and about ready to crash.  Mike, glad to hear you are doing well.  RT - walls look about 10,000 times better already, can't wait to see the end results of your labors.  Chuck, hope you get some train time.  Chief, we are due storms again this week.  Haven't mowed since I "broke" my hand.  Need to get-er done tomorrow before more rain hits us.

Good night and God bless us all.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

There is a series that should show up when you go the the first one.

Roy, Thanks for the link!  These are really significant video clips.  Ward Kimball was undoubtedly one of the most significant contributors to the hobby.  I had the fortune to meet him a couple of times at monthly train meets in Pasadena.  He also allowed frequent tours of his estate and collection.  Unfortunately I certainly would not say I had a cordial relationship with him, but he WAS as genuine a person as portrayed in the clips.

Had to post the picture of the Convention car that was discussed in the video.  The Charlie Chaplin decal was ONLY available if you attended the meet.  It was one of the first meets I attended.  I sold a lot of AF items I had there, sure wish I still had them.

Unrelated subject, below is a couple of pics of our planning foreman, trying to figure out what scenery is going to be brought in.

As you can see 1st priority was with the library.

Zeke -  I checked out the pictures you referenced for the your LHS, I too would have concerns.  I noticed on their website they had no mention of MTH.  Also, their inventory picturees only showed Lionel.  A phone call of course wouldn't hurt.  But, I would be surprised if you get a lot of "We don't service that stuff" and other similiar remarks.  MTH isn't real popular on the west coast, which is unfortunate.  I tried finding a place around December.  And didn't have much luck here in So. Cal., even some of the places in Nev. as indicated on the MTH website, didn't still exist.  The closest I found was in Colorado, or Arizona.  And they had significant wait lists.  Hopefully, maybe somebody from the east coast can reccommend a shop.  I ended up shipping my engine to MTH in Maryland.  It took almost 3 months for turn around, which was what they said it would when I shipped it.

Don't give up on it!! You still got a GREAT deal, and at least you have something to work with.  Patience is going to be a requirement!  But it will work out in the end.  Let's see this is June, so should be able to get it operation before Christmas.  Just don't give up!  It will be worth it!

ya the outside of that shop has a couch in front of them doors and that car is all tore up but still there...i will just check itout though.....

i can hear my gf now " i told you so"...she told me it was a lemon if it was at a grage sale....women...well im out to the garage to lay some cork road bed for my ho...take it easy....

Zeke - The majority of my "stuff" is Lionel, primarily older stuff but some new Lionel as well.  However, what spends the most time on my Layout is MTH.  I'm too much of a kid, the MTH has more play value in MY opinion.  Both have product issues as all companies do.  But, you got a great find and even after you have it repaired you will still be ahead.  I hope I have some of your misfortune.

Take care

John - That coal train is awesome!  Guess I'm goin to have to learn how to do that.
