Good morning from a hot and humid Chicago where I just finished searching for the Chief's big interview on NBC channel 17 in Raleigh where lo and behold, he posts it himself.  Enjoy. Hope to review the new Lionel catalog during lunchtime today.

http://www.nbc17.com/midatlantic/ncn/news.apx.-content-articles-NCN-2007-07-31-0017.html

The Batman movie folks were a bit slow in cleaning up this morning from their shoot last eve - there's a big 'wrecked helicopter' prop under the L at the corner of Wells St and Madison - all uncovered and not 'roped off'. It's funny to see everyone walk by it without looking twice.  Saw some nice pyrotechnics last eve from the film when I was walking to catch the train about 9 pm.

I uncovered some old photos of my first N scale layout - and posted them to the Thomas Layout thread. Brings back memories - still have the table.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps and humidity in the 90s.  It is not just hot, it is d**n hot as they would say on "Good Morning, Vietnam!"  You can cook GRITS on the sidewalks and fry eggs on the driveways.  Some not so good news in the world of racing.  Scott Speed was fired from his F-1 ride, which once again means no Americans in F-1.

About all I did last night was get a haircut and order tickets for the Kentucky IRL race on August 11th.  They have a special offer of 4 tickets for $100 in two of the grandstands, which is a very good deal.  My dad and I are going over to watch the soccer tourney final tonight.  I did look at the Lionel catalog on-line.  It is nice to see some standard gauge again, and the Flying Yankee looks good as well.  I will have to review "in depth" later.

Tmcc man, a belated Happy Birthday, but I am sorry to hear about your mom's job.  There was the normal fare on the dining car for "Points East" this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Morning To All,

I had a thought early this morning, I try not to do that to often, get headaches.  Anyway with the Chief being so busy with his new duties; Will he have to start eating instant grits due to the lack of spare time?

90s, 90s, & 90s Weather forcast for next three days with lots of sun. better this than snow.

OK I'm going to hop over to that other forum and watch them pick apart the new catalog.

[all rise]  Morning all [you may be seated] Bow [bow]Laugh [(-D]  Off to the lake.  Back early I hope.  Pretty day and heating up.  NO RAIN!!!!Angry [:(!]  None forecast for the future. Is there an irritating noise I hear from up New England way?  Seems like one of those constant rattles you get in a vehicle.  One of those where you finally get tired of it and take your fist and hit the area it is coming from.  Usually goes away. Laugh [(-D]  Have a great day all.

PS: fife, did an hours worthj of interview and then lady wanted to do all the talking.  guess she wants to be an Anchor.  None of the real stuff we talked about was used.  Like challeges to growth and how to manage it.  Challeges of a Mayor with the exploding growth.  No numbers, such as 2,000 population in the last 5 years, 2,000+ more coming to apporved homes and now this new developement [where most of it was filmed and not shown] will result in an additional 2,000+ residents.  Was very disappointed in her editing.

BTW: she did not get my title correct.  Now Mayor-elect.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 66 degrees. Going up to a HOT 92, today. Plenty of sun is due today.

Today, I get to drive to Cambridge, and do the weekly grocery shopping. I am wondering what prices have gone up, in the last week. The newest trick is for food companies to put less in a package, which is the same size, for the same price. So, not only do you have to watch the prices, but also, the amount of contents. Lots of fun.

No time for trains today. Trying to fill the train bank back up for the show in October. Hope to see all of the guys again.

Dining Car is pulling in and I hear the " All Aboard " for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning from New England!

Love the new catalogs! I sure wish I was born rich instead of beautiful! Those Hudsons are nice! I see a trolley barn for Doug, a P&LE boxcar for John. Harry Potter set for the Chief. Just remember Chief, it's not the size of the wand, it's the magic inside!  Laugh [(-D]

Getting warmer each day here. Happy August!

Evening all.  Dennis, I am a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.  Thye have moved elk to NC.  Nice big herd in PA. Wife has been home sick all day.  Sinus headache and this AM, ear ache.  Tired as to much running around and seems I can get nothing done as planned this week.  Going to pickup Ranger from dealer tomorrow [had carbs rebuilt] and take it to Kerr Lake for some running.  Got to go to Mom's Thursday or Friday.  Next week, meetings.  Too many things pulling one way and then another.

Interesting interview on TV.  Hour's worth of taping and only a couple minutes of TV time.  Was OK.

Good evening everyone,

Chuck, my dad has had a lot of Chevy's, and so far, his dad has only bought from GM. I like GM a lot too. My dad has a Chrysler 300 right now, but he could possibly get a Impala again. He had one before, and loved it.

Thanks for all the Bday wishes guys. I think the LCD Flat Screen tv will find a new home in my room tomorrow.

Now, I have to go take a shower, and tune into Mind Freak.

Got an email - Trainz shipped my preorder Halloween Handcar.  Of course, I put all my track away!!!  I'll have to get a loop out to test it no matter what!  Also ordered the Celebrity Toy Train Layouts box set and more O gauge cows.

Happy Birthday Colin!  Sorry about your mom, but there are some good jobs out there right now, so hang in there!

Finally got to eat my BLT tonight (2 actually).  John S - we have some icecream, chips, popcorn or M&M's, so come on over!  ;-)

Happy Birthday Colin!

Watching a little Elk Hunting on TV.  Makes me want to head to the mountains right now.  They are called the "Grey Ghost" for a good reason, disappear in a heartbeat.

I am looking forward to seeing the new Lionel catalog.  I have a few items on my list and it sounds like they may be on it.

Y'all have a great night.

So Chuck was still working at Chevy the last time I bought one. Still have it too. Just finished washing it. It was 10 years old on St. Patrick's Day.

Colin, Happy B-Day [bday].

Doug, I don't envy you and those long days! But there is a lot of Batman filming going around you! Watch out for the Joker. I hear he's a real psychopath in the new movie!

After reading about Lionel's new Baby Hudsons in the new catalog, I ran ours tonight. 2056 and 2055 pounding around the Jumijo!

Evening everyone,

Thank you all for the birthday wishes!!!!!!

Well today was alright. I am a little mad because my mom got laid off today. I was fire red when she got home. When she met with her boss, she kinda had a clue something was gonna happen, but they took her car (NOT the Solstice) and got a driver for her. I was so mad when she told me this. I still am.

Wow, look what we avoided Roy!  Poor Eddie, not only does he get killed by Capone, but his fiance marries Frank Nitti and they name an airport after his boy. Every now and then, when someone fishes a F4F or TBM out of Lake Michigan, I think of Butch.

Off to teach class, today is my late night. I need some caffeine.

Looking for a parts delivery for my CSX SD-80.  Stay tuned.

Roy and Doug, the next time you eat at that Capone restaurant, I think you should remember this:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_J._O'Hare

Roy, Baltimore ???  Yes, the museum is great, but the ball park is so cool!!

Only someone insane would move out of Iowa to NC, or they are running away from their past exploits at frat parties at U of I.

I have a buddy who is currently driving west following Route 66. Yesterday he was near Flagstaff.  I need to call him today to see where he is located.

Evenin' boys.  Sure is humid around here.  Roy, bring some of that cool rainy weather with ya tomorrow.  How long will you be in Baltimore?

88 - Atlas track sure is easier on the diagram when it comes to yard switches.  What a difference.  I really like the modifications you made to the "low line".  And, I still think the Lazy Susan River just flows off the tongue.

With all the talk about Drs., aging, and birthdays.  Thought this was appropriate  ....  Sure applys............

George Carlin's View on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all sl ipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50

And your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90's, you start going backwards; "I was JUST 92!"

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"

May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

I've never heard of Kerry Hall but I don't know why anyone would want to move from the Heartland Of America to the"Bermuda Triangle" aka Grits Capitol of the Universe aka Rolesville, NC. She must have heard of the Chief's fameLaugh [(-D]  Obviously, a momentary lapse in good judgement on her part.

Well, had my echo/stress test this morning.  Still tired from it.  Chief, glad things went well.  Chuck, glad the wife is progressing.

Learned a little tid bit this past week.  I had commented on how clean the Jersey Shore waters were.  The beaches were cleaner than I have seen in a long time (for Jersey that is).  They had lots of problems of garbage that was dumped out at sea washing up on the beach.  I was told that they solved that problem by shipping all the garbage to OHIO!Shock [:O]  Sorry guys, that is what they told me.

Anyway, I am hoping to get through this week without too much late night work.  I am on call and still trying to recover from a week at the beach.

Take care,

dennis
