Good Saturday morning from New England!

Wifey's coffee pot caught on fire this morning, and I had to rush it out of the house into the back yard!!! She says the smell is terrible. I have no sense of smell so, whatever. It's out in the backyard smoldering.  Banged Head [banghead]Sign - Oops [#oops]

We ran trains last night, and I also took some photos of my recent vacation finds. Posted those on OGR. I ran my Williams 2023s with a post war 2400 passenger train consist behind them. The observation car's pickup wire came off so it wasn't lighting. Into the backshop it goes!

Don't know what is going on with this #^*~ software.  Everytime I move from page to page it says I am NOT signed in but then goes to my account and it says I am.  Would not let me post [just dropped it].  Hope this works now.  Off to train meet and then Miss Edna's.  Hot and dry.  Will have to water this PM.  Have a good one.  [hope this works this time]

Got word yesterday that Lionel has offered the Best Friend sets to their dealers.  We've put a few on order.  Lionel claimed that they had previously asked dealers if they were interested and didn't have a good responce, this was the first that the boss heard of it and that was only after he called to ask why dealers weren't offered the set.  Another case of Lionel dumping too many people and the left hand not knowing what the right is doing.

Chief:  Finally tried chicken mop sauce.  Not sure how to take this.  Wife said she really liked it, and would be happy with the chicken like this all the time...but, she thought it was store bought.  Steamed chicken in sauce for about 20-min.  I really liked it.  Thanks again.

Don't watch much TV.  Sorry...Too many commercials.  Started watching 'Build it Big' last night about the natural gas and oil pipe line and refinery projects in South Korea.  Got tired of all the commercials, and turned it off after 20 minutes of a "1-hour" show.

Yesterday too hot for the Zoo.  Today Hot..off to the waterpark!  Work work work...Already watered roses with 2-yo, in her bare feet and 'jamanas.

John:  Working on a 3-wheeled operational O-scale handcar.  Stuck on functional linkages and rods, and keeping the wheels together.

Dennis:  You have our prayers.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 94 today. HOT. This has been a hot, dry summer.

Today, we are driving up to Walnut Creek ( Amish Country ), to meet the Daughter and Family for lunch. Good food is the high light of the trip. We will spend a few hours together.

Spent a few hours, yesterday afternoon, in the train room, working on scenery. Got some area done by new passenger station. Upper level is going to look nice.

Dining Car has arrived and I hear the " All Aboard ". Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Well, I am home in time to go to bed and get up early for another case in the AM.  Getting tough to work on trains lately.  I still have some tractor work too.  Got some sad news on one of the guys in our Sunday School.  Been dealing with cancer that had been in remission, but is now back in full force and outlook is dim.  He is 27.

God Bless,

Dennis

Dust still flying out here!  Got 1 and 1/2 sections built today, ran out of lumber.  Couldn't get more had strict orders to make sure house was aired out, and "dumb bird" had to be outside.  Tomorrow AM, gotta go to jewelry mart with wife, then back to building.  Should get another section and half done tomorrow.  Were moving along!

Had two LED signs, (like the ones in theatres that have the movie name above the specific theatre door) so put them up. One over the layout area, the other over the bar.  Completely programmable, alpha, some characters, dot drawings.  Really cool.  The one over the bar has a slot machine display that rolls randomly and comes up with 3 figures.  So far the best has been 3  Cherries, didn't pay anything!

Drew a train for the other one it scrolls right to left, after a welcome sign.  NEAT STUFF.

Later.

We like Monk and Psych too Thumbs Up [tup]  Got Monk seasons 1 to 5 on dvd and Psych season 1.  Tivo'd the new shows tonight.  Watching a tivo'd movie from last week - Faster Pussycat, Kill!  Kill!  What a weird, funny, savage, can't stop watching it movie!  Also, a train plays into the story, so it's not totally Off Topic.  The lead actress, Tura Satana, was also in Irma La Deuce, which is an old Jack Lemmon flick that is great. Lots of great scenery in Kill! Whistling [:-^]Wink [;)]

Good evening,-Jim f. I'm not sure but it sounds like Dennis did put his best foot forward. The Best Friend is a real show peice and I would not be suprised to see it become very sought after when they are sold out. I like the hogwarts because it's British looking. We haven't heard much from the UK potters lately, hope every thing is ok there. Still hot most everywhere but we still have no rain. If anyone is interested in the lionel Target closeout set, they are being shipped could have picked mine up today but to lazy to go after it.     Later,,,Sir James

Hi guys - Sir James and Doug M, I already ordered the Best Friend last night - can't wait to get it too!  Then, I was showing pics of the set to some folks at work and talked about some of the stuff coming up - I think I sold a Hogwarts Express to a lady!  She's going to order it for Christmas for her husband, who use to work on trains years ago - they both are Potter fans and she thinks it will be cool around the tree!

Hot and humid here all day, but the promised rain failed to materialize - at least as yet.  Working 5 hours OT tomorrow.  Picked up a fart fan and another light fixture for the basement.  Man - I never knew there were so many kinds of bathroom fans!  Since it's for the basement bathroom, I got a relatively cheap one for about $50 with a light.  Rated by Home Depot as "Moderate" CFPM airflow and "Moderate" noise.  Then to Culvers for a butterburger and two scoop sundae (had coupons).

Dennis - when you are at work, remember to put your best foot forwards!  Wink [;)]

Colin, you have an XBox 360?  Know anyone with a Wii?  My son wants one for CHRISTmas and I heard there are some good games coming out include shooter games with a toy gun you can use like in the old days.

Jim (S-Phish) - Way to go!  Do you get any $$$?

Evening all

Southern border safe as far as I can tellWink [;)]

Hot and humid, rained a bit and just made things sticker.  May do some weeding after supper.

Got an email from CTT; they are going to use a tip I sent in in a future issue.  That is kind of neat.

Maybe I should not say anything about them mis identifing the AF transformer on page 36 as an 8B; it is a model 8.  The 8B has an on light and a "short" light and only 3 posts, base, 15v, and a 7-15 volt post.  Maybe nit picking but the 8B is one of my favorite transformers.  I could of given them a picture of a nicer one for the picture too.Whistling [:-^]

Bride should be home soon, she has had a rough day, time for a little TLC.

Wouldn't ya know it, wife is away with the kids, have the house to myself and the dog with plans to work on the layout and I get paged for another emergency.  At this rate, it is going to take me longer to finish the layout than it has taken the Chief.Wink [;)]

Well, I do hope to get home before too long and get some progress made.  Hope everyone has a blessed weekend.

Thanks Buckeye. Here are some details of the trip. We was originally just going to go to Amelia Island Florida for vacation. Then, we ended up going to Folkston, since I always wanted to go there to railfan. Not really out of our way, just 20 minutes from I-95. We got there, checked into the Western Hotel aroud 2:00, and went to the railfan platform at aroud 2:30. During that time, between that and 6:00, we saw 7 trains. After that we ate at a little deli in town. We came back, and saw another 3 or 4 trains, until about 9. (The ones that have dark pics) We came back at 11 the next morning and saw about 5 until 2. I didnt get pics of all of them, but I do have video. It was a very fun trip.

Here is a odd site, sadly I didnt get a pic of it, but it was a blue and red FRA engine, just by itself, like a trolly. Has anybody else seen it?

88, most of the time in the summer the room over the garage where the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash R. R. is located is hot and stuffy.   Therefore, I don't spend too much time working on the layout, but I have fixed engines and cars.  Currently awaiting part for SD-80 and I am about ready to tear into the K-Line Mikado.

Good afternoon from a sunny and Hot Crystal Lake where I'm home after my eye doc appt. and the dialating drops are finally wearing off - have to go back in two weeks for more laser zapping, then wait a few months before doing the other eye - paying for all this will sure put a crimp in the 'ol budget but I'm sure glad to see.

Jim F, buy it - I think the Best Friend looks neat!

Buckeye - still waiting for updated pics on your layout... maybe you could sub-contract out the photo work to Frank53 Studios and have him put together a site for you...

I have been looking at animated neon signs for my layout and really want a Domino's Sugar sign like the one in Baltimore.  Well I sent an email to Miller Engineering (I think that is who it was) a few months ago, was informed that they will be working on one and it should be available early in 2008!  So I'm going to look them up at York in October to check on the status... and maybe pre-order one.  It will look really nice on the layout... wonder where it will go...

Top of the Morning to Y'all!

RT, Sign - Ditto [#ditto] to what Don said.  Hope all goes well and that you are comfortably employed soon.

As to wearing safety shoes, I usually don't go with the patients out of the OR, this was a real sick person and needed some special attention.  I would rather have good shoes to keep me comfortable while standing there for long periods of time.

Got to get the kids ready for the sitters and then off  to work I go.  Wife is bringing kids to FIL's tonight and through tomorrow.  If no emergencies, I hope to get plenty of train work done.  Have a great day everyone!
