Evenin' boys.  Good to see some of the vocal-locals are back in town. (so to speak)  88 worked my butt off yesterday until the skies opened up.  Then he served up Yuengling and beef Dinner [dinner].  You guys have no idea the projects he has ahead (BTW, stop by GNC and get the bottle of vitamin E, B.Wink [;)]).  And a finished "train room" to die for.

I'm pretty sure I've got Mrs. fifedog on board for the TCA Convention in Burlington next summer.  She looked at the itinerary, checked some websites, and gave Thumbs Up [tup].

cnw1995 - Roy is much skinnier in person.  I enjoyed meeting him at YORK.

dwiemer - all the more reason to get to the LHS.  Like everthing else though, it's up to the shop owner to get the message out.  The product just doesn't sell itself...

Chief - Congrats on the victory.  The citizens of Roseyville have spoken.  I think you now have a mandate to place stiff tariffs on any Nawthen Railroads.

Still trying to figure out where that one (1) vote came from...Peeks didn't get sufferage in NC, did they?

I just got back from having lunch with Roy and his family. Their flight was cancelled last evening so they're spending a few hours in Chicago before trying their luck to leave tonight. His pain is my gain: it was great to meet him, his gracious wife and two kids...

Dennis & Jaabat, welcome home.  Dennis, I hope you enjoyed your visit for both of us!Thumbs Up [tup]

We lost one of our brother firefighters.  It wasn't a LODD, but I'll contact a bud up there and find out what happen.

Doug - Glad you're back, now you can "see" what yer missing!

Chief - Congrats on the win, just let us know where the protection money should be sent

Mostly cloudy and very humid here.  Got real lucky this week (ok, not that way....) saw the Amtrak Silver Meteor heading (where else) Northbound and on the siding waiting it's turn was a Conrail headed CSX Freight headed south.  Yesterday I caught a South bound Florida East Coast Freight headed south with a load of vehicles, lumber & corn syrup.  Had some containers and truck trailers as well.

IF I can figure out how to get it off the phone, I'll post the Amtrack & Conrail (15 sec each, only)Sigh [sigh]

One bit of sad news was the conversation I had with a hobby shop owner.  He is in an organization of hobby shops and the number of places that have closed over the last year is incredible.  He quoted the numbers, but I won't belabor the point.  The trend is certainly going to a few larger retailers on-line, and a few local places, but that is it.

Good morning from a sunny Chicago where it is a beautiful day and I amazed at having to catch up on five pages of posts since Saturday. Must be because Jim A and Dennis are back. Wink [;)]Had a relaxing Sunday - took the youngest to the park, listened to the big race on the radio and read the paper (loved that For Better or Worse cartoon) whilst keeping an eye on the middle boy who apparently has a new female admirer who came over to visit. Hmmmm. Spoke to Roy before he left the convention - he and his family had a good week in Chicago - I'm looking forward to his pictures. Hope to swap transformers this week to figure out why the main line is dead.

OH NO!  He is relaxed and refreshed... this could be dangerous or hilarious or both...

Welcome Back Jim!  We missed ya! (well at least some of us did).

Mitch - Not sure about this weekend... have to check the schedule to see what is on the agenda, I hope to get the rest of the flooring done tonight so I can start working on the walls.  I have a feeling I'm going to have to get some aluminium screening and some trellis to cover the 'fishing pier' end of the shed... Susan asked last night if that was going to be my 'dog house'... now that just wasn't right!

Hi GIZ,

Foggy here today at 65.  laz CAMP started at 0520 today still dark.  Got about 3/8 of thunderstorm rain yesterday.  Going to start bench work on buddies layout today.  He ran his trains on floor to check how the track plan worked all ok, so today we start construction.

Watched FORREST GUMP last nite, still get a kick out of it.

All have a good one.

Good morning all.

Back to work after 2 weeks off. I almost don't want to know what lies ahead of me today! Hot in here, and breakfast is fast approaching. Raining here as well.

The forum is acting up today. Some threads won't open. Some will.

Morning All,

Brewed a fresh pot. Uh Umm good. Nice and strong.  We finally had some rain up here in G'burg, not enough to do a whole lot of good.  Probably enough to make the grass start growing again.

88 - Sorry the rain and such ruined the shed building party.  Maybe next weekend.

Dennis and Jim/jaabat -  glad to see you are back from vacation. Everyone needs some time to rest and recharge thier batteries.

Chuck and csxt30/John - Ole Smoke really had 'em covered yesterday didn't he?  The rest of the crew better watch out at Pocono if he takes that same car. Junior can't buy a break. The 24 had another respectable showing, the 48 is really having a time of it the last few races.  He'd have no luck if it weren't for bad luck it seems.

Well I better get going. Take care,

Mitch

Cowboy [C):-)]  I'm Back!  Chief, I hope you were able to keep the Yanks in check.  It was a successful raid above the border.  Got some yanks hooked on Grits and Tea.  I hope everyone has been healthy and is doing well.  Have not had a chance to go check all the pages since last week.

It was a great trip in both that I saw plenty of family and friends, and also, got to check out a great layout.  Two rooms and more classic trains in one private layout than I have ever seen in one location.  Also heard that a good friend just aquired a prototype of a very famous Lionel accessory.  Got lots of insight into the industry and I feel the direction will be  a good one.

Rich, I did get some canoli and I think I gained a few pounds on some great Italian cooking.

God Bless, it is great to be back,

Dennis

Hey Fife I'm back.  Folks were here for the weekend. Did you and 88 get the shed built?

We went to Hanover Pa Dutch festival yesterday. Lots of food and crafts.  Basically a long hot walk. Had a nice dinner at a little restaurant called Clair's.

Glad to see csxt30/John made some fresh coffeee and cleaned the pot.  It was starting to get nasty.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Mitch

Mitch,
Nope... Sad [:(]  We got the outer frame and supports in, but then it started raining and we retreated to the cool dry comforts of the house... I had a problem getting the lumber delivered on Friday (major miscommunication), then this morning (8 am) I went there to get their rental truck and forgot to check with Susan if she had her updated insurance card in her car... NOPE! So by the time I got back (10:15) they had already rented it to another person who had to make two trips with it, so I didn't get the lumber to the house till 2:00 and then had to take the truck back and didn't get started till 4:00, so we only got done what I had hoped to have done before Fife and my other friend arrived... Sad [:(]  Quite disappointed...

Fife - not only had we planned to build the shed, but I also washed Susan's Bimmer before leaving for Pittsburgh, so that pretty much sealed it that we were going to get a few storms!  Glad I could be of service in ending the drought... if I had known it was that easy, I would have washed her car a few weeks ago.

We had a good brisket for dinner tonight.  Cooked it for 25 minutes.  Marinated for 2 hours, then grilled in a roasting pan for 10 minutes, then removed from the pan and grilled for 15 minutes - turned every 3 - 5 minutes and basted.  Susan made some good sweet corn and mashed taters... Dinner [dinner]  Was our first dinner in the new dinning room!  Good Times, Good Friends, Good Food = excellent evening.
