Hi all,
Been a tough day today had to take Boco (named by my son after the Thomas the Tank character) our Golden Retriever to a specialist vet today. He got ill over the weekend and has been in doggy hospital. He is now in specialist care. They are sure he has a neurological problem but are not sure about the cause. May have to have a MRI scan. Lucky he is insured. But I don't think the outlook is that good. Charlie is taking it quiet well.
Chief, I remember the Great Pumpkin, Be sincere in your pumpkin patch. Snoopy verus the Red Baron. I had that book as a kid. You can't beat pumpkin pie! Lots of heathens over here that don't understand what to me is the ultimate pie. I see it as my duty to convert them.
Have a good Afternoon/Evening
Nick
Finally back home after extensive training session on bridge design. You will be glad to know that all the highway bridges in the U.S. are designed wrong. Should fall down anytime. The FEDS are now going to make us design them right. Of course the new methods are much more complicated and more prone to mistakes, and not one dime in construction savings. Give someone a computer and they think that it is their duty to make the world more complex.
Had lunch with a good friend in Cambridge, Ohio today. We have a good time when we get together. We tell Southern jokes and stories about the Chief.
Lisa, loved the note on the door.

So I've been working on a support call at work for the SSA Executive Office. They need to have some data extracted from their database, exported as XML, and uploaded to a website. The DBA will not grant me writes on the database, so I can't develop the solution for them and test it, so I write a stored procedure and all he has to do is compile it in the DB, he won't do that either. My boss stops by my desk and asks me why I've been developing an application. I said, I haven't I developed a stored procedure, he says, 'same thing it is still code.' He says, "You have to do everything you can for these people since they are the executive office, that includes writing code if you have to" So I point out that he just told me to do two different things, he said he didn't, I repeated what he said, 'You are getting hung up on schematics' I said, 'So I'm to do EVERYTHING I can, but I can't write code?' 'No, you can't write an application'.Sometimes I just want to scream, actually I raised my voice and told him to stop for a second and listen to what I said. I repeated everything we discussed and he said, 'Yeah, you got it.' and walks away. I said to myself, 'I'm not worthy of being that stupid.' I must have said it out loud because a coworker came over and said he was as confused as I was. We are going to talk tomorrow and then call a meeting with our boss and our SSA manager and get this figured out once and for all. We can't be expected to support developers and not be able to write code. I understand they do not want us developing an entire application and then getting sucked into long term development, but this is exactly what the executive office wants. They don't want to hire a development staff because there are already developers within the SSA, the problem is they expect them and us to do the development work when that is not what our contracts allow (and no one will tell them this)! Gotta love the FEDS...Buckeye - I'm with you!

well good afternoon all, pretty wiped out after watching them kids. what a handful. While one was chasing my beagle the other was pulling the cats tail. Then it was lunch we had spagetti o's. mistake on my part. they went every were. Kids are crazy. 2 and 4 were the ages boy and a girl..cute lil things but made my house quite noisy. they are so much fun though. napping right now thats why i can sneak away..
i sure do miss having kids around.. even though they are loud, messy and silly. I mis them . my house is really to quiet.. My gf of around 6 months is already hinting of getting married next summer and having a baby.....and geez the thought hasnt even crossed my mind! But i have learned in my many years of wisdom( ya right) that women dont like to wait for those two things...but i am 30 i never even thought of having another child.
well its like 94 here right now, glad i am inside, well i should go check on the little ones...
see ya all later

Actually, it was a high level Northern Security meeting. Buckeye had just returned from a lengthy trip down South. He was observing the way the Rebs build bridges. He found out that they were using GRITS to build the bridge supports. They were using the intended concrete to build foundations for their outside bathtubs. This is where the FEDS came in. It is against the law for REBS to have a front yard bathtub, unless it is upside down. And next to an old car on blocks. BUT, it must be at least 50 feet from the outhouse. There were a lot of violations.
Afternoon All !
First post in quite some time. Trying to catch-up on all the chores after being gone for a couple of weeks. Spent the last few days out on the patio repotting the plants that survived our hard freezes and potting up a bunch of new ones. Felt really good spending so much time in the sun, except for digging up the sprinkler line I broke when I took a swing at a gopher with a pick axe. It really helped me to get out of this really melancholy mood I was in.
Found a whale of a buy at Lowes yesterday, a 5 light set of 12V 10W halogen display cabinet lights w/transformer for $10. The transformer I'll save for future use with trains, but the lights are being used on the covered portion of the patio with an old Malibu transformer that has a light sensor built in. No more need to turn lights on/off, the sensor turns on at dusk and turns itself off 8 hrs later.
Seems like forever since I've been to the museum, looks as though my next run time will be a week from this friday. I'm spending one more friday with our grandson, that's even better than going to the museum. I hope it won't be much longer before he and grampa are there together to run trains.
Nice to see the new folks have continued to hang out at the "Coffee Pot".

OK, now we're really getting the info a flowin ' !! May have to make a complete sweep of the South now !! Now a tip just came about what really happened to this poor guy !! Seems they kidnapped him somehow & forced him to eat grits & look what happened !!
He's a goner now !!
Well it has been a few days since I last posted. Lots of meetings this week and late evenings with kid band end of year events. Whew! Glad it is winding down. School ends here next week. The kiddos are going nuts waiting for that!
Weather here is fantastic. Big cool front hit today and man is it nice! 50/60's at night and highs maybe 85 the rest of this week and into the weekend!
Hope all are well.
Have a great evening all!
Regards, Roy
Rained yesterday, but dry the rest of the week.
John S, I think you need to contact your friend the millionaire playboy and have him run all that data you collected through his batcompu - er, I mean, personal computer. Maybe he can solve this! Sounds like a perfectly honest meeting, but you never know...!
A lady at work brought in 2 big pans of brownies and I had a few more than my share I guess - very good. Then I got home and my wonderful wife bought me a Levee High Apple Pie at the Blue Owl (was shown on Road Tasted on Food Network) - this was the personal (1 person) pie and I'll bet it was about 1/2 pound of apples -
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Morning All,
Brewed a fresh pot, finished that and about to start a second pot. NOt much train related going on here lately. Have get the layout (closet) straightened up because we will have a house full of friends over Saturday for the graduation celebration and someone will want to see some trains run.

Good morning all,
It is cooler and cloudy in SE Indiana with temps only in the 60s today. I rain does not interfere with soccer practice tonight. I went for a walk with the missus last night and then did weights at the YMCA. Stayed up and watched "Lost". Interesting that Charlie saved Naomi in the alley. Even more interesting that he did not die in the episode. Next week should be quite action packed. What do you think, Jimtrumpie? I second Chief's comments about TMCC Man. I hope he is ok. Plenty of bran muffins on the dining car this morning for "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool, foggy 45 degrees. Going up to only 62 today with a chance of rain showers. Hope not.
Today, I have some work to do around the house. We are going thru old treasures, stored in boxes, in the basement. I wonder why we kept some of this stuff. If the weather stays good, then I will be outside enjoying it. I need to clean up the train room for company, coming on the 26th. After that, I will pull up the steel bridge for painting. Should look good in a deep royal blue.
Dining Car has arrived from " Points West ", time for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Mornin' boys. Preakness weekend here in the Mid-Atlantic. It's that one time of year that all the windbags come out of Annapolis, claiming their love and committment to horse racing (while trying to figure out how to get the biggest piece of the SLOTS pie). Does Churchhill Downs or Belmont have the same issues? Thousands of idiots will be in the Pimlico infield, drunk, fighting, doping and walking around in their own waste...smashing good time, eh?
OFF MY SOAPBOX now.
