Happy Friday everyone.
Just saw on the local news that a man was killed after his car was hit by TWO trains. This happened just east of me. His car ran off the road, down an embankment, onto the tracks, where his car was hit by a northbound train. His car was knocked onto a second set of tracks where it was then hit by a southbound train.
This poor guy just had no luck at all!
Just saw where they have cancelled JERICO for next season. That was a good show. Yeah, ZEKE, a lot of cliff-hangers this year in addition to CSI.

Stop Look and Listen at all crossings!!!!!!!!!
This is probably the wrong place to mention this but I sent a check to CTT for a renewal supscription back in March and here it is May an I have not seen one issue in the mail, I know there are only 9 per year but it seems like there should have been at least one issue sent?!?

Roy, I completed a first-time assessment of Chuck at your request. I'll need to work Buckeye into my schedule.

Hope everybody likes that one! Just in case, I'm continuing my post in a separate post so it doesn't disappear
Got home about 8:30 after going from work to scouts - kids crossed over for next year. First one I was at when I wasn't one of the leaders and it was weird. Long and boring for the parents - didn't really get that when I was "working" it. Thought I'd say something, but don't want to hurt feelings. Oh well.
Got my shipment from TRAINZ/ebay. Was listed as 50 to 65 pieces of O27 track (or, in a different line, O and O27). It's actually 49 pieces, all O, which is cool and what I had hoped. One piece is an operating section, but no controller - have to check around for just the controller, maybe do a combined order on ebay or get from one of the usual sources like traintender? I got 24 full curves, 8 half curves, 1 operating section, 6 half straights, and 10 full straights. Still happy for the money and most of it is tight, straight and pretty clean. Might need to put a little elbow grease to a few pieces, though, at least on the tops. Good train day!
good one jim

I'm offended!!!!!! You must state [your knowledge of this is part of the required learning] that a bowl of GRITS a day makes the person a perfect 100.
BTW: Fortner's waypoints are now locked into my GPS. Grits raid into his area is being planned.
No popcorn as too full of seafood. Gooood night.
That's weird, Chewy just woke me up and dragged me to the computer - she seems to think we're in some kind of danger???
Jim,
Don't sweat "Offending" anyone, if we have become that PC it is a sad day on the C.P. Oh shucks, note PC in use, I forgot about somebody getting their skivvies in a bunch last week over Jim's post. Wouldn't you know, I missed it. When she dragged you to the computer did she sound like "Robbie" from "Lost In Space".
There is some good news today, regular dropped to $3.37 a gallon.
hey thanks great, condidering i drive 4 vehicles with v8's and big throats...

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a sunny, but cool, 35 degrees. Going up to 75 today. With sunshine.
Today, is a stay at home day. Need to mow the grass and do a few things around the yard. Better do it today, as it may rain tomorrow.
Jim....That was a great assessment of me. Looks good. I'll be looking forward to your assessment of Buckeye. That should be great.
Don't think I'll get any train time in today. But, tomorrow I plan on running the trains in the afternoon. Need to relax by then.
Dining Car has arrived and is ready for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

Several days ago you asked why I was taking my 13x28 5-track, twin shelf RR down?
First, it is up high in my wife's kitchen and she wants to redecorate after 15 years . Also we are in our 70s and will likely sell this mountain place within 5 years or so and she correctly notes that from a marketing standpoint she doesn't know anyone else with a railway in their kitchen.
Secondly, my knees and Mr. "Arthur Ritis" are no longer supportive in operating and, in particular, maintaining a "stepladder" RR. One shelf is 9'-0" high the other 7'-6". I made the last run on tracks #1 [30 car coal hopper train] and 2 [8 car N&W pass train], both on the lower shelf, on Wednesday and have removed all the track, homasote, foam and cork roadbed, messy--I had glued it in layers---fortunately the top shelf roadbed is not glued.
Gonna make the last run on three tracks up top today, a Southern work train w/Consolidation, and two Southern passenger trains, one E-6 diesel powered and one Ps-4 steam. As soon as my sore feet and knees feel better I will be up on the ladders and doing the dastardly deed.
37 degrees here @ 3,500' last night and with binoculars I could see heavy frost down in the Elk River valley.

Morning. Site was flying and then got stuck on Quote and had to double click and it laoded right up. Off this Miss Edna's. Cooked home made sausage and biscuits [canned]. Coffee is great. Switched from Starbucks to Dunkin Dounuts brand. Real good. I get whole beans and grind it fresh.
Now as for the following:

No danger. Chewy likes GRITS!!!! She wanted you to know the big mistake you made. Speaking of offending folks. Seems this forum loves jokes and kidding [makes things go better]. If I got offended, I'd have to go "Postal" on most of Ohizo, one or two in PA and a big one in Maryland [as well as a few others]. ITS FUN. Another forum fired up on Brother Jim on a subject. Told him to quit posting over there. Some nice folks there but then some [mostly Yankees ] .....
Have a good day.

Ha! Chief, saying Chewy likes grits doesn't serve your case very well, considering everything else she likes to eat or "sample"! Glad you liked it Chuck! Love reading your posts every day and keeping up with you and the guys. Good fellowship on this forum!
Well, it appears the Dining Car whizzed by here at speed, but not before some guy threw a packet of poptarts at my head! They were a little old - in the box too long. Need to pick up some PW 022's for my O gauge track and get working on my new layout design. I've got some ideas already. Probably an outer loop or loops of O gauge tubular and some inner point to point working track of O27. Maybe an elevated loop of O27 as well? Have to figure that out.
PS - I filled up the truck last night for $2.95 a gallon unleaded! Funny how happy that made me, when in fact I was getting -ed!
Doug Murphy, I am glad I did a pretty good job -- I found the "standardized" outline for notes online, but it is a little different from the ones I'm used to reading, which threw me off a little.
PS: Chief, Dunkin Donuts are the best! They all closed around here, but when we are traveling, if we see a DD shop, we have to stop! Those big, gooey glazed donuts beat Krispy Kremes in my book. My Mother-in-law used to buy extras and the next day she would literally fry them in a skillet full of melted butter, just to warm them through - now that is an artery-buster!
Dewey, sorry to hear about the demise of your kitchen layout. Hope you can make a rollaway replacement or something to keep those trains running.
Hey guys with today being armed forces day I ask you all to look at this site and see if you can help either with letters to our troops or some how heres the story that got me going on it
Operation Bedding came to be after a Sunday morning phone call from our son Adam. At the time he was serving in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He asked if I could send him bed sheets, he requested forty sets. He explained that the weather was so hot, and with little free time clean sheets would be nice. He was concerned that his friends have the same comforts that he had and that's why he needed forty sets. He jokingly said get Operation Bedding going mom. That Friday he was killed.Without realizing it Adam had just set up his own memorial fund. For the funeral services we requested money instead of flowers so we could send a shipment of supplies to Adam's friends still serving. The outpouring of love and support was overwhelming. So many expressed their gratitude and were eager to help. Since that time with the support and generosity of others we have been able to send thousands of dollars in supplies and goodies. It is our way to express our gratitude to those so willing to lay down their life for our freedom. Please join our effort!

Good afternoon all,
It is another beautiful, sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s. Mowed the yard last night and watched "Numb3rs". I swept the house this morning and went to get some parts for the trimmer and mower. Now I am watching time trials for the Indy 500 online while I am posting. Lucas and Brittany are at King's Island today with a church group. My wife and I will go see "Spiderman" tonight. Bacon and biscuits were on the dining car this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
