Cool, breezy day in Stockport. SWSBO and I went to Southport, the wind was that strong, after an hour we thoight that we had been sand blasted.

Called in the Armoury last night for a sneck lifter, the place was full of Rugby Union people (I live near the ground/stadium), been watching an international match between the English Saxons and the US EAGLES! It seems the EAGLES lost 51-3, (this is the first of a series with 3 teams, US, England and Scotland for the Churchill cup). It would appear that the EAGLES forgot their GRITs (where were you 'CHIEF' in their hour of need?) and some well meaning fool gave them Staffordshire oat cakes, which went straight to their boots and glued their feet to the turf. Any way no serious injuries were caused and every one left quite happy.

Especially me.

Jim F - Good job - Chuck running on all cylinders Thumbs Up [tup]. Now for Buckeye!

Nice day here. Cloudy and 75 so far. Some sprinkles.

Worked at the neighborhood bike rodeo this morning. My kids don't do this anymore but I like to help.

Daughter went out on her first date where the boy, a nice kid, drove. That was a bit disconcerting. Hopefully this will help her get past the bozo she was dating since last summer.

Have to mow the lawn today and clean up around the house.

Have a great day today all!

Regards, Roy

Been jugging the garden.  Now I need to explain to the Yankees.  since it is not raining much, I take a gallon [several] milk jug [empty for the Yanks] and punch a tiny hole in one corner, put in Mircale Grow, fill with water, put cap on, turn upside down and carry to a plant, turn it over, remove cap and water goes out next to the stalk.  Depending on the size of the hole, takes about 45 minutes to run out.  Object is that it soaks in next to plant.  Watch them turn green and grow.  Got three going.  One beside tomato plants, one by squash and the other by cucumbers.

About train time.

A little reminder to those in the Fort Worth, TX area.  Next weekend, May 27, y'all have a train show at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.  Boss heads down there Thurs. and I get to stay and watch the store through Mon..

Last night temps. dipped into the the 40's with today's temp. barely getting into the mid 70's.  Supposed to be another cool night tonight.  Where's the hot weather we should be having by now?  The granddaughters are chomping at the bit to get more use out of the pool, they've spent some time in it last weekend with water at 75, at least I got it to 80 this weekend with a "cheaper" set of solar heaters.

Good evening guys,

Dewey, Thanks for responding, I thought you might be selling the mountain retreat.  I do understand the maintenance problem, I'm 68, not far behind you.

John, Normally I would have my flag flying today, but on Wednesday, while I was away from home we had a big blow come up along with rain.  Apparently the water soaked flag was to much for my aluminum flag pole and it snaped off about 4 feet above the ground.  Have a new one on order, but for now I am flagless.

John Baker, How is that layout design coming along?

Wife took me out for dinner tonight, she found a gift card from Christmas in her wallet so she treated me. Smile [:)]

Take care,

Nice trick Chief, Have you tried sheep $#!+ tea??(note  for the garden not yourself) I used rabbit droppings when I had 3 rabbits. You run water thru rabbit dropings to get a natural liquid fertalizer.

I have not had fresh okra in a log time, I used to put them(slices) into stir fry or sometimes deep fried themDinner [dinner]

Good Evening Y'all!

I ended up working at the church last night as they needed a camera guy for the Christian School graduation.  Not bad, but it was a long time standing still in one spot and making sure I didn't shake the camera.  That was on top of working all day, which started at 4am.  I finally crawled into bed about 10.

Had a great day in that woke to the bride making sausage gravy and biscuits.  Then we relaxed with the kids.  Went to the mall to pick out a gift for the neighbor's daughter's graduation party (this is the neighbor who owns GSW RR).  It was a nice day, great weather and then the party tonight was wonderful.

John Bakeer: do you know of a Rugby player by the name of Dave Timms.  He used to play a while ago, but has retired.  He was a missionary in Africa (which is in sharp contrast to his days in the SAS).  He is currently in seminary here in the US and his son, who is now a senior has the highest sacks in the state of Texas.  Anyway, he is a friend of ours.  Very humble, but has quite a story to his past.

Also got to talk to the Chief tonight.  He's a good man, no matter what the Yanks might say.

ZEKE, did that deal I email you about come through.  I think we have some of the best people you will ever meet on this forum.  Not getting into details, but the folks here have a lot of concern for others, and love their country and the soldiers who keep us free and safe.

God Bless Y'all,

Dennis

Zeke - Score!  Man, that is too cool.  Happy Birthday, buddy - didn't remember you posting that, or is this an unbirthday present?  RT - I guess I didn't remember that about your son, very sorry to hear about it.  Sir James - good one!

John Baker, there is a place in Sikeston Missouri called Lamberts, Home of the Throwed Roll, you would really like, except they don't serve adult beverages.  They do bring around huge bowls of macaroni and tomatoes, fried okra, rolls, mashed potatoes, etc, and when they bring the food you ordered it is heaped high and wide.  Beef livers and chicken livers are great there.  I try something different each time.  If you order chicken, one dinner is a half-bird!  No oatcakes.  We try to make a trip down there about once a year or so, just to eat until we are sick.  They have a G gauge train running around an elevated loop and a wooden train the kids climb on outside.

Well, I finished wiring the last 8 outlets and ran romex to the bathroom for the outlet and fan.  There is a hot wire there for a cheap bulb fixture the builder left and I'll use that to power a light over the sink.  Spent about 5 hours working down there today.  While she was out and about, my beloved found a yard sale in our subdivision and the guy was selling a 5 hp snowblower for $175, but she got it for $125.  It's new, only used twice last year because his driveway is so steep that he kept sliding down while trying to run it.  I won't have that problem!  Need to figure out where to put a ceiling light in the hallway and then put up lights in the bedroom and I'm done and ready for insulation and drywall.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Jeff, The layout is still in my nut. Trying to get a rough ready for Ilkley, going to need about 40ft of track plus curves and switches.

As I have a tendency to gout, I have to avoid liver-kidney (offal) etc. due to the high purine levels in them. Also applies to coffee.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 55 degrees. Going up to 75 today with sunshine and maybe a late rain shower. Hope not.

Today, I am taking it easy. Have a few chores to do around the house and then relax. Never did get down to the train room, yesterday. I was too busy cutting grass and working in yard.  Garden is in and doing well. We need a few more flowers and that should do it. It's time to start taking pictures again. Nice scenery here.

Dining Car has arrived. Don't think " points west " is up yet. Sleeping in. It is time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Another couple of days and another 10+ pages of posts.  You guys can really tear through the bandwidth.  Not much going on here.  Spent the evening at a friends house running trains and checking out his layout.  Had TMCC and DCS running.  Brought my LM Big Boy and my RK Streamline Hudson.  Both worked great.  Interestingly enough though when I added JT Mega Steam to my SLH it did not nearly smoke as well and as long as w/ MTH fluid.

Went out fishing last nite and brother got 3 nice trout, me el skunko again.  This is two times now with nothing to show, even had the fly rod working last nite.  There was a good hatch of March Browns coming off and yet these trout would come up look at the fly but would not bite.  Go figure?  Anyway had a fire and had dogs and burgers and a few 12 ozers,  another great nite.

  Haven't ran trains lately.

Skipped church this morning as left ear was to sore to put hearing aid in.  Been wearing them for 29 years and they a one big pain, but better than nothing.

Marty, I've been using Mega-steam in my MTH engines for some time and they smoke up a storm on Max.  Usually run them on med or low.

RT, guess I am one of the few that understood your post.  Good thought.

I'm saving those empty jugs, not going thru that again. If grits were not outlawed here I could plug the hole and use them for koolaid or something till I wanted to jug again. 56 and cloudy this AM,next week looks nicer ,hope so. I missed the morning diner, hope the lunch car arrives early. Bye fur now.  Mi. Jim      Don't tell anybody but after I had the 4 jugs dripping, I remembered that I haven,t planted my garden yet.

Mornin' Folks,

Have to agree with ya Marty, miss a few days and it takes a lot of reading to try to catch up.

When I was a younger we didn't use jugs in the garden, we used them for fishing. There was a real slow running river where I grew up and when we went jugging we put on a hook, line & sinker, baited it up, throw'em in and pick'em up aways downstream. Used to work pretty good on some of the lakes we would fish as well. Kinda like a portable trot line.

Sippin coffee and trying to work up the motivation to start some heavy yard work, the kind I feel perfectly suited for today Strong Back, Weak Mind !  Dunce [D)]

Zeke,

Those are two SWEET little loco's. The 1033 should do just fine as a power source but you will probably need a whistle/horn activation button. If memory serves the A-5 came in both conventional & TMCC versions. The TMCC version will work in a conventional mode but you won't be able to access all of the TMCC features. I mite have a K-Line activation button, I'll rumage thru my stuff and see if it's around. The Williams in my estimation are the Timex of the toy train world, they take a beatin', but keep on tickin'. Afternoon Y'all. We had a great service this morning. A lot of people, probably extra folks for graduations. After the service, a 95 year old blind lady was baptized. I suppose that would be scary being submerged when you can't see. Then we came home for lunch. I hope to do some train work tonight after evening services. I have a bid on a Jersey Central engine that I hope I win. It is hard to judge what is a good price. It is a new engine, and I know what is the going price, but I need to know how much I can spend without being beaten by SWMBO.

Oh well, hope y'all have a great day.

Afternoon all!

Early church. Taking it easy today. Still nice weather here. 80 and sunny. Started out at 60 this am.

We just found out the Dallas County Community College across the street from our neighborhood allows fishing in their lake and that Texas Parks & Wildlife stock the lake to boot!  My son and I will be checking this out.

Four more days of school and then they are out - argh!

Regards, Roy
