Just a quick drive-by-post...

Afternoon fellas... rough weekend... it is almost over!  Last week of class starts on Tuesday, have a paper to write...

Bought two new bins for the trains and realized the lower bins are starting to warp so I have to get them unstacked... Sad [:(]

Been there, done that -- put a bunch of keeper books and papers in plastic bins and stacked in basement. Went to move them out of the way of the general handyman/construction worker (ME) and the plastic tops were all broken and some of the books in a bottom bin were pretty badly twisted and crushed.

Well, my son and I had lunch at Taco Bell and saw Spiderman 3 together.  He got a headache in the movie, I guess from the lights and movement, but stuck it out.  Next we're going to the Cingular store to upgrade our plan and phones, then out for early supper.  Picked up some 2 cycle oil for the snowblower and need to start it and see how it runs before I store it until next Winter.  No trains today probably.  Spiderman has some cool scenes of a fight in a sort of underground subway complex with multiple levels - very cool!  TTFN

Mornin' Folks,

Have to agree with ya Marty, miss a few days and it takes a lot of reading to try to catch up.

When I was a younger we didn't use jugs in the garden, we used them for fishing. There was a real slow running river where I grew up and when we went jugging we put on a hook, line & sinker, baited it up, throw'em in and pick'em up aways downstream. Used to work pretty good on some of the lakes we would fish as well. Kinda like a portable trot line.

Zeke,

Those are two SWEET little loco's. The 1033 should do just fine as a power source but you will probably need a whistle/horn activation button. If memory serves the A-5 came in both conventional & TMCC versions. The TMCC version will work in a conventional mode but you won't be able to access all of the TMCC features. I mite have a K-Line activation button, I'll rumage thru my stuff and see if it's around. The Williams in my estimation are the Timex of the toy train world, they take a beatin', but keep on tickin'. Thumbs Up [tup]

thanks doug...

they are awesome i still just cant believe i have them...i cant wait to run them...

so the 1033 will work ok thats great...i also was given a lionel sw..not sure if it works but the women that gave it to me said it works two trains? it says 130 watts on it so its more powerfull then my 1033...  i will have to read up on this one somewere...

its a great train sunday for me...even though i have only a small oval cleaned up it looks reall good so i think i will go try my new engines out.. the anticapation is killing me...

well hope everyone is having a great sunday...cant wait to see some sunday photos!

Zeke,

Here is a site where you can get some info on the transformers if they didn't come with instruction sheets.

http://www.postwarlionel.com

You can also download some instruction sheets from the customer service link on the Lionel website.

Have fun and enjoy. Thumbs Up [tup]

befor you had transformers you had batteries to run trains around the first transformers had fixed voltage the rheostats were to controll the speed (or voltage to track) of the engine.

Couldn't get new phones today, since they didn't process our last payment on the account - not without paying full price for the new phones - ya, right.  We'll go back Tuesday, should be updated in their computer by then.  I updated my website and now it is losing files.  I suspect I've hit my free limit through my provider, charter.  I'll have to look for a hosting site, I guess.  Any of you guys have one you use for a personal website?  I'm looking for CHEAP and EASY, thanks.  Had dinner at Outback - yummy steak and garlic potatoes.

Zeke,

That web site is incorrect on its writeup of the SW. The SW controls two trains (I still have the one I received for my trains in the early 60's). Posts D-U on the left are for one train. Posts A-U on the right are for a second track.

You could run the transformer say on 3/4 to full and run one set of wires to one rhetrostat and another set to the other and you could run two loops that way with seperate speed but you wouldn't have horn or anything else.

Jim, I have been using this company for a couple of years.  Not their problem, but I just can never find enough time to keep it up to date.  Of course I find a lot of commercial sites are in the same boat.

Zeke,  You are going to have to get a couple of books to learn the basics.  It is too much to absorb through the forums.  I may have some laying around, I'll take a look.

yes on rhetrostat controlling one track and the other controlling the other track you would have 2 wires coming off each post one going to the one side of the rhetro stat and one going to the track then a wire from the other side of the rhetrostat to the track i believe you would do better by having the A side going to the rhetrostat then the track and the U side going straight to the track

Evening.  You all did NOT pass the test.  I have not posted all day and no one noticed.   Buddy of mine "joined" the forum and posted some in the "Pot".  Was away for a few and no one noticed but did notice some other newbie had not posted.  Compared us to another forum.  I think we are a little more joval but he does have some merit.  My problem is so many posts and you can not scroll back.  I forget some of the replies I want to post by the time I get to typing.

That reminds me.  MTH smoke fluid does smoke well but it STINKS. Dead [xx(]  The smoke unit I put in the MTH Conrail dummy I made was used.  I put JT's in and fired it up.  PEW!!!  You could tell it had some MTH left in it.

Wife is back.  Seems her two sisters and their kids went to Wilmington while I stayed home and babysat the boys [dogs].  Speaking of boys, the 17 year old Peek got me up at 4AM and 7AM and 9AM.  I had planned on sleeping late as I was up tinkering late [should say early].  Sleepy.  Got to stay awake for Sopranos.

OOH, popcorn time!!!!  Later

just reread some of the other post you would do better with the sw and as long as it is fine you should have use of at least one horn probally the one hooked up to au but possible for both if you have 2 buttons for horn. I'm not that up on the SW

Zeke, Go to the Kalmbach shopping page on their web site, you'll find all the info. you require.

I am now in the detail planning stage of my benchwork and having had substantial layouts in both HO and N over some 30yrs, I shall use that experience in the work (wait 'till I goof!).

Morning to All for G'burg. Had a beautiful weekend for our son's graduation party. Plenty of good friends, fine foods, and cold beverages.

Yesterday my son's godfather and I went to the Western Maryland Railway Historical Society Museum in Union Bridge, Maryland. They had some pretty nice static displays and an N and HO Layout. The N scale layout will have a model of the passenger car shops and machine shop at Union Bridge including the turntable when it is completed. Came home and took a nap Zzz [zzz]. Quite a nice day.

Now it's back to work only about 18 days left in this school year for kids. 19 for teachers. So much to do, so little time.

Have a great day.

Good morning from New England.

I'm a hurting puppy today! I worked out a little too strenuously yesterday at the gym. Then came home and painted the walls in our 24 x 24 room...pass the Ben Gay please!

Am I the only one who wants to know who Zeke's generous benefactor is?

John, S. I've heard that the 1/43 tv Batmobile has been cancelled. I hope that is wrong!

Too busy over the weekend to take after photos of my 736/2671 set.

Zeke you find out that williams are very quiet I like them for that reason. At least you have a oval up i don't even have that at present but it will be coming in near future . I hope to do about 7' by 13' .

This forum and out in the main you can get so much knowlege its unreal. books are great , But talking to someone with hands on can be even greater but still get books so you have some knowlege about what your asking as someone who has done it may have a trick or two to make it easier.

Chief yes we realized you hadn't posted but we were enjoying the quiet Whistling [:-^]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Good morning from beautiful Ohio, where it is going to be 73 degrees today.

Fishing buddy put his house up for sale and is moving to the land of giant bass, Alabama.   I don't know what he was thinking.  He hates grits.  I think he is looking south of Montgomery.

Hope to work on the Garden RR this week.  Yesterday, went and picked up more rocks.   Will use the shop vac to really clean the small water feature.

Zeke, you have just had a lesson in the generosity of the people who are on this forum.  We have some really outstanding people with a real passion and knowledge for toy trains.

Good morning all,

It is another beautiful, sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the 80s.  Spiderman 3 was good Saturday night.  We went out afterwards where they were working on the new Honda plant and watched them move dirt under the lights.  It was kind of fascinating sitting there as all you could see was the headlights and where the work lights were shining on various parts of the work site.  Took it easy Sunday and just washed three of the vehicles.  Bump Day at the speedway was not as dramatic as it has been in the past, but there was still some activity.  "Desperate Housewives" was good last night, but it was sad about Edie.  That was a surprise.  I just hope the weather is good for the 500.  I see where "Points East" had breakfast already and I hoped that they enjoyed the bran muffins.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
