Mornin' boys.  Sunny and mild here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Spent the afternoon under my grasshut umbrella at the shore,Cool [8D] sipping brewskies, and watching the boats go by.  Came home and watched a condensed version of the Watkins Glen race on DVR.  Went to bed around midnight and Mrs.fifedog was waiting for me...Happy B-Day [bday]...and it wasn't even my birthday...Smile [:)]

Blueberry - Congats on another #20 victory.

88 - Better get downstairs and check your O-gauge inventory.  You live pretty far out, so I'd be inclined to think everything was fine.  Loved the photo of Laz's bear, and how you tactfully cropped the picture with foliage to cover his...berries...

mitchelr - I'm thinking white wicker papazan chairs with some of them 7 ft tall lighted palm trees.  A big palm ceiling fan would accent the room nicely.  Every Friday could be mandatory Hawaiin shirt day.  Who said learning can't be fun.

Have to look up the place and see about going up one night after work this week.  I have to get to Timonium to pick up Susan's Graduation Charm, so maybe on my way home from there...

YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to work this morning after a lovely day flying with Delta Airlines!  LOL!  Anyone want some Oceanfront Property in Arizona?

Took Susan and Father-in-Law to Nicollete Island Inn Saturday for dinner.  Lovely place on a small island in Minneapolis.  They had Fillet and I had a Porterhouse (literally this thing was the size of a house!), good eating.  Would recommend it to anyone going to Minneapolis.

Flight left Minneapolis on time and we arrived in Cinncinatti 20 minutes early.  Ate at Moe's... had a 1/3lb Bleu Cheese Burger... YUM.  Get on the plane to come home at 4:35, then at 4:40 they tell us the main cabin door's closure alignment indicator strips are not lining up so we have to wait for maintenance.  45 minutes later (this is a 78 minute flight) we are in the air.  Get to BWI, off the plane, get to baggage claim and wait, and wait, and wait... 1 hour later the baggage arrives.  I was so ticked.

Got home and the alarm was indicating an open window!  Susan hasn't figured out how to press the ON button so the alarm was off all weekend! Banged Head [banghead]  Well nothing was missing, so we headed to bed.  This morning I noticed something in the shed that looked like a bottle of alcohol, didn't check because the ground and grass were wet.  Will check tonight when I get home...

Anyway... before Susan's Graduation we headed to Rogers, MN to take in the Cabela's there.  We ran into a friendly face...

He said he was hurt that Doug chased him out of Chicago... he just wanted some deep dish pizza as the blueberries and blackberries aren't ripe yet.

Susan officially became a PhD on Saturday...

Sir James:  Hope you had a great vacation.  About the brakes, they may have rusted in place.  We've had a lot of rain, and high hiumdity, condensation may have formed between the pad and the rotor, and just made them stick.

They should right themselves.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy 66 degrees. The sun is coming thru. Going up to 82 today, with sunshine. A little cooler than the 90's.

Today is a typical start of the week. I need to run some errands and do a few things around the house. Later, I will probably begin the mowing for this week. I think I'll do it over a few days, rather than all at once. No time for trains, today.  I am starting to feel the need to spend some time in the train room, working on the layout. Maybe tomorrow.

Dining Car has arrived. Mike in " points west " has left it well stocked. I have a big choice for breakfast.  Catch ya later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Morning All.

Made a fresh pot a little bit ago. Been trying to keep up with all of the happenings here in the Pot. Weather seemed to break a little here. Not so humid on Saturday and Sunday.  Went to Mom & Dad's yesterday for steamed crabs. Wow were they good. Crabs, burgers, dogs and a couple of cold ones. Great day.

LAZ- sorry to hear about your walking buddy. It sure is tough when you lose a four-legged friend.  I know our Jack Russell is getting older, she has some arthritis or joint pain from time to tome.  Hate to see them suffer.

Grayson - glad to hear your brother is out of ICU. Hope he continues to heal.

Keith/1688Torpedo -  hope you have a nice vacation. I e-mailed Brent about a black 1688 I ran across.  Not sure if he will go get it.  Pretty decent condition and a right price. If he doesn't get it, I might buy it and try to restore it.

Well, I better get going. Got a busy day meeting with furniture sales people. Got to figure out what kind of furniture we are going to buy for the offices.  Need to get started on putting together an operating budget for the following year. It is due in October, but starting from scratch, I will need lots of time to prepare it.

Take care,

Mitch

Good evening all,

It was hot and humid again today in SE Indiana.  We slept in til noon today as Saturday wore us out.  Watched the US women beat New Zealand in soccer and a tape of last night's race.  It was a lazy day.  My wife and I are going to the state fair tomorrow.  (Yes, Chief, there are fun things to do up North as well as down South :-) ) .  Thanks, Chuck, for the loaded dining car this morning from "Points East".  Bran muffins are headed back on the return trip (no dead-heading on this railroad).  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hmmmm, a little eye strain from yesterday maybe ????? Blush [:I]

Don't know about this weather, it hasn't been all that hot but it sure seems like we have quite a bit more humidity than in years past. Not enuff for rain but it sure makes it uncomfortable for us in what is classified as a semi-arid region. Or am I just getting a little more grumpy ????

However it was nice to sit on the patio last nite and let the garden rr run, surprised by my wife when she said " nice soothing sound", no sound on the loco just the sounds of the wheels on the rails. Approve [^]

Evening all,  Busy day but no trains. I have not picked up my Target close out set yet. My wife left for church this morning, came right back, something wrong with car she says.We have not used it since the 3rd as we were away. OK car guys I drove it ten feet and knew it was the front rotors but what happened? the car wasn't run and the inprints of the pads were on the rotors as if they had rusted there. WHAT HAPPENED? No known problems before we left. No noise, no rough spots,no clunk clunk clunk. Oh well its fixed. We had some rain while we were away and the grass is greener but not growing yet. Kurt, thanks for finally  sharing the rain.

Evening all.  Track down on right side on top of Soundstop.  All teh cars and engines from the right side are back in their places and the ones from the left side are now parked on the right.  Ready to remove track.  Not many screws in this side.  BTW: course threaded dry wall screws [the small ones] go right into the holes in Realtrax and they HOLD.  Told you I had one switch that was bad [yes another one].  Had to move the points by hand.  The switch machine acted as if it had no contact with switch at all.  Well, pulled the track with that switching yard [as I am putting down Celetex Soundstop on top of the hard MSD board].  The magnet in the end of the switch machine has carbonized.  Completely deteriorated.  It is nothing but dark gray "grindings".  Cleaned the end in the switch and put another switch machine [from another switch] in the slots.  Works great.  More MTH quality.

Later.

The Red Locktite is removable with tools.  I used the red on our Kitchen cabinets door pull screws, and it's been holding for 3-years. The blue stuff holds forever.

Grayson, We're praying for you're brother.  Glad he's pulling through.

Jim, he means me and my potty mouth.

A tiny drop of super glue on that scew will hold it in place, but if you ever need to take it out, it will come out. Use the liquid type, not the gel type and lay the loco on it's side so that wheel is facing up. That way you won't get any white glue residue on the loco.

See you around...

Busy cleaning out my office closet. Too hot to go outside much (100+). The news says this year is the 6th best on record of the LATEST that we hit 100 here. Global warming???

NASCAR today!

Bourne Ultimatum was good but very very hectic. Action never slows down until the credits roll. Whew?

Wife and I went to favorite diner today for a late breakfast. Kids get home around 4 pm and then peace ends....

Sorry about the MILF thing, Chief. My apologies.

I created my rivers on the Jumijo but making a trench in the extruded foam, then lining the trench, including the banks, with plaster cloth. After that dries good, I just paint with latex paint, as Misty did, and apply several coats of gloss medium. None of these products will attack the foam. I like to sprinkle some stone dust in the river bed to represent rocks. You can either glue them down with white glue or they will stick in the gloss medium. To touch up dusty gloss medium, or just to make the water sparkle even more, brush on a coat or two of Future floor wax. All of these products I've just mentioned are water soluble for easy clean up and are non-toxic (no harmful fumes).

I will now go and wash my own mouth out with soap.

Jim

Hot hot hot out.  Gonna be 100 again today.  In-laws visiting and stopped up the slow toilet our kids keep stopping up.  Apparently I need to call a plumber or just replace this toilet - wonder which would be cheaper?  Not a project I wanted to undertake this weekend.

BFoC is ticking me off.  Every time I run it, the screws that hold the drive rods on the locomotive wheels unscrew themselves.  I used a little gauge and I think they are actually 2.5 mm hex head screws.  I don't want to buy an expensive set of nut drivers and find out I was wrong, so I'll get a straight hemostat and some locktite and see if I can correct this.  Hope to take some pics later and post, but might be busy today.

mistyk11 - My river "bed" is plywood.  When the gloss medium dries, it will be an 1/16 inch deep, and I think you'll be surprised at the results.  It goes on a milky blue color, but dries clear.

He actually posted a little help for me a couple of months back but I still messed something up. I think my main problem is I was digging a couple of layers of the foam out to create depth. I will try again by just using the painting techniques and see if that works. I'm just not real imaginative when it comes to painting things...Sigh [sigh]
