And another comment on MTH: This guy is too full of himself.  The PS1 & PS2 stuff that I have run (and repaired NUMEROUS times) is fantastic once it WORKS!!!  I shouldn't have to get a PHD (sorry Brent) to run it.  The details are wonderful, the Lionel is just too easy to run..Plug & Play..and the detail is just as good. Nick - are you talking about a separate electrical circuit for your layout? If so it is a good idea.

Morning fellas!

Update on the Shed - got the ramp done last night and the shed now has operating doors! As well as a new tenant.  I have to install one more hinge and put a few more screws in the ramp flooring, but all in all it looks good.  Next phase is getting the siding under the gable ends, then get the trim up under the roof line. Then I can get the drip edge installed and start laying the roofing felt and shingles.  Then I'll finish the trim work and finish up with some paint.  Doesn't look like it will be 100% complete by Saturday, but it should be finished by Sunday or early next week.

I certainly could have bought a kit or pre-built shed (getting it installed would have been a problem), but I wanted to challenge myself and have some fun with the project.  I did accomplish all that and more. Smile [:)] Thanks for the ribbing guys! Laugh [(-D]

Grayson - Glad to hear your brother is recovering. Hope he gets well soon. No need to keep taking shots across the bow, you need to let it go.

Mitch - Thanks for the info!  I'll probably head up there tomorrow after work.

Doug - Have the pics... will send

Good morning all,

It is back to humid again in SE Indiana with temps in the 90s, but I think relief and rain will be on the way soon.  All sorts of interesting conversations on the pot.  As far as the Lionel-MTH conversation is concerned, my two cents is that both firms offer something different to the consumer.  I like MTH for their standard gauge although Lionel is making some noises about returning to that market.  I like Lionel for specific railroad lines they promote, such as their Alaska, Halloween and Polar Express items.  As far as the legal struggles, I leave that to those who know more on the topic.

I also hope those who are ailing and who have family members who are in a similar situation make quick recoveries.  Unfortunately I can not remember who all is in that predicament all the time when I post, but please rest assured I wish the best for all on the pot.

The boys soccer team acquitted themselves well last night in a 5-0 loss to a traditional state powerhouse.  The game Thursday will tell us more about the rest of the season.  I went to the YMCA for some track work, and I finally started cleaning up some piles of paperwork that had accumulated around the house.  There was just the regular fare on the dining car this morning as I saw where "Points East" hit the diner early today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Well If you remeber my recent thread that got deleted, you know what some people where saying at the end of that threads life. You know, I just wanted to make sure some people who who participated in them last posts know I'm telling the truth. Smile [:)]

Here we go again. I'm absolutely sure you posted the link to that story to bolster your credibility. The only problem is that the story proves nothing. There is not one shred of identifying information in the news report. Grayson, I'll give you one thing, you're nothing if not persistent.

Good morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 62 degrees. Cloudy, but sun is trying to break thru. Going up to 88 today, with some clouds.

Today is the day, that I drive into Cambridge for groceries. Thrilling. I can see what prices have gone up and how much. Grass is all mowed for another week. No time for trains today. I will run them, tomorrow. I probably need to do some cleaning in the train room again. A little dust gets all over the cars.

Well, time to board the Dining car. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning from New England, where a gentle wind is rustling through the maples and temps will be in the mid 80's.

The big story: Julia rode her bike last night without training wheels! And she didn't need me running along beside her like in all those sappy commercials! They grow up so fast!

I ran my trains last night and enjoyed them immensely.

That OGR thread was removed, but I think because of the union jousting posts and the fact that locolawyer was upset about all the armchair lawyering...no one seemed to care what his feelings were in the matter as they kept right on posting.Laugh [(-D]  Those CTT dudes sure do love to stir OGR's pot.

Kurt, what's the story with those trucks? Why did you solder them?

Here ya go John; 8111 soldered truck.  I used 40/60 acid core solder.  (this stuff is old!!!)  Origional container says for repairing radiators.  The repair is the plate over the coupler rivet, and extends back to behind the first set of wheels.

The break was just below the coupler rivet.  The bubbles are left over flux I was afraid to heat-up, and wipe off.  I tried once, but unsoldered the lot.

A bit sloppy, but I'm happy for my first attempt.

Kurt, I've been informed tomorrows the day. Wife and two of the grandsons.

I saw the new Lionel Bigboy run with the legacy control system today, engine is great but the legacy system is really nice. The Bigboy is going to be released by the end of this month. the legacy is almost ready and is expected to be released in the fall but no date was given.

I also did a good deed today as my oldest son wanted one of those train sets I told you about but at $120.00 they are gone already so

I am going to let him have the one I bought. With one exception:it has a boxcar with post war catalog pictures on it.Mine. He agreed to take a different car. Of course he had no choice in the matter. I also found out his wife got a hefty raise so I told him the set price has gone up to his new income level.only fair, right.   Sir James

John:  Soldering.  The coupler is riveted to the sheet metal truck frame.  The truck frame was broke in two, one side has the trucks, and the other side has the coupler.  Sorry I didn't take any photos.

Sir James:  Armada Fair???  We'll be there Saturday.  My sister lives in Armada.  We're bringing a smoked Brisket.  Tomorrow afternoon; Masters of the Chainsaw, and the Pedal Car Pulls.  Demolition Derby 7:00pm...Loads of fun!!!  Don't miss this.  This is serious derby stuff.  Our little ones are too small to sit still for that.  Following week same fair will be in Chelsea, 15-min west of Ann Arbor, just north of I-94.

Grayson:  Why would you not tell the truth about something like this?  Still praying for your brother.

Hello to all.  It seems like months ago that I posted although I have been reading some posts from time to time.  This summer has been too busy for trains although the weather is so hot that the cool basement is rather inviting.  My son starts Law school at St. Louis U next week.  We spent most of the summer moving things from Michigan back to KC and then from KC to St. Louis.  A week from this Friday I will be heading to NW Ontario for my annual Canadian fishing trip.  The cooler weather and seemingly always possibility for rain there isreally going to be culture shock for me and my fishing cronies. I think I will clean some track and run some trains tomorrow.  My Carstens reefer project is on hold until I contact someone here who can give me some hands on advice for the decals.  Hope everything smooths out for those in distress.  Running trains helps.

Chief, looking forward to catching up with you and the good Dr. John.  I doubt the rest of the gang will be there as I think Kim wants to have dinner with her mother.  I know I don't want to have the MIL and her husband along.  I am not sure if I will be able to get to BPS during the day.  Let's have Dr. John pick a place and then we can make arrangements.

Jim, While I don't particullarly like Mike W., or many of his products and corporate decisions, I have seen some good come from MTH.  I like some of their buildings and some rolling stock, but I am not a fan of PS2.  I will PM you as some background is interesting.

Hope everyone is blessed tonight.  Waiting on word of Dad getting home.  He was being signed out as I post here.

My Father in Law is getting this Tuff Shed delivered and set up in a few weeks:

Except I think he ordered a double door instead of the one sided door pictured - it's a 6 foot wide door!  Plenty of room for his Cub Cadet.

Well, it was HOT in St. Louis again - 103 degrees this afternoon!  Had a little storm Sunday night and again about 60K people lost power in the City and surrounding areas.  Gov is concerned.  Did I say it was 103 today?

Grayson, I believe you.  Good news about your brother!

Well finally, Cory (my brother) is out of the hospital, and in his apartment in westside Savannah. His swelling has gone down, and he can talk quite clearly. He was going to come here, but we have a feeling he didnt becuase he wouldnt want everybody to see him in this condition. He has a very nice girlfriend that will take care of him while he's there. Well, thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers, it is great that he healed so quickily, swelling and all. I was told by a very nice man, and you all know him on here, not to worry if anybody does not believe me. Well, I'm not bothered by it, though I do know some of you out there dont. Just to let you know, if you do think I'm lying, at least some of its the truth. That accident report on WSAVs website wasnt made up..............

Thanks.

What was tha God awful noice I was hearing when I called.  If it was the above, send it back!!!!  Backwards day all day.  Went to get haircut, lady was 1 hour behind.  Went to get meds at CVS.  They and ins co had screwed that up and it was suppose to be ready yesterday.  Had to KICK A-- there and finally got it a few minutes ago.  Still was wrong and the had to rebill it.  Now to pack.  Early flight.  Wife was home today and cleaning and breaking everything and I had to mend.  Good thing is, left side soundboard is down.  Now to do the lift out section and the JD factory section [both small].  Then do backroom [will not take long].  Then rewire.  God night as too busy to revist.  Will be watching the Yanks from laptop.
