Don....great negotiation tactics. I may have to try that with the son & the wife.....
Chief, I though of you today....
I was heading East toward Jacksonville then South on I95. I saw a train crossing the St Johns, so I peeled off the next exit to catch it. Lo & behold, what do I see? A North Bound CSX (a bunch of vehicle carriers) and heading SOUTH of all things a Norfolk Southern with a container consist (mostly FEC containers). And what did I think? Reinforcements to the South!!!

Your comment about cars sliding all over the place trying to avoid each other prompts me to share this with everyone. My sister sent it too me.
A survey was done of drivers who have slid into the ditch off of icy roads.
98% said "Oh, expletive deleted!"
The other 2% were from Buffalo, NY and Erie, PA. They said, "Hold my beer and watch this!"

Now if you really want to help justify the TV do a google for Choochoo Cam, that's what we run on the club layout. All your guests will get to be a Railroad Engineer or a conductor if you choose to put it in a caboose.

Hey Jim if you do come down to Ft. Meyers you can take the dinner train at only $50.00 for an adult, may be cheaper for children. The Seminal Gulf Railway runs this train nightly and has a murder mystery played out by actors.
Will give you something to do besides baseball.
Also where do think that all the south Florida school teachers have gone? Atlanta GA!! They even got expensises paid to move there.

Its really peculiar that you posted that, Doug. My son was just saying the other day, how much he would like to see or have, 1 White Christmas. Talk about hitting home, I think of when I was a kid, and a flood of memories.
... Christmas shopping is NOT the same when the weather is 60-70 degrees. (Seeing the Salvation Army, ringing bells in short sleeves doesn't work.) Need the cold weather, snow, and slush, and shaking it all off with the classical "Brrrrrrr".
... Going outside and getting a couple of pan's full of snow and making "ice cream"
... Watching cars slide all over, trying to avoid each other
... Coming into the house with a fire in a fireplace, smelling all the Christmas scents,
... Going Christmas tree shopping, and all the related drudgery as compared to getting the artifical one out of the box.
... Shoveling the snow off the sidewalks, and driveway for company, AND relation.
So what's it like NOW...
... Go to the mall, try to find a parking spot, without getting upset.
... Seems all the stores have the same thing.
... Went into a Wall-Mart, there for 5 min, and left. Too much pushing and bumping.
... Go home, avoiding the cars driving 60mph in 40mph zones. Go in the house turn on the electric fireplace, with the glow logs. Light a couple of candles, check email, turn on TV and on 109 stations, CSI is on 46 of them, 10 Korean, 8 Chinese, 16 Spanish, 14 News, 4 Cooking, 2 Travel, 1 Movie from 1932, and about 14 Animated Rudolph.
... Each person goes to their respective "caves" and finds something of interest.
Don't take me literally on ALL this but just seems that we've lost a lot. It is a SLOW day at the office. Think will try to do somethings different. Maybe get some old tapes out and watch Miracle on 34th St, or Babes from Toyland or something.
over.

Also Jim I forgot to mention that you may need an alligator gun to claim back your house from the local gators. Yesterday a rabbid fox was biting people near Delray Beach, about 21 miles south of me.
If that aint enuff to keep you out of Florida the insurance companies will use a vacuum cleaner on your wallet every year for homeowners insurance. Right now the governor of Florida, Charlei Crist, is filing a classaction lawsuit against some of the major insurance companies for unfair price hikes.
Lemme see here....
Florida: Only habitable outside from November to March (maybe early April)
Hurricane season: June 1 to December 1 (and that's not a given...)
New Jersey: Only habitable outside April to September
Snow/Winter December to Early April
seems like a toss up, guess I'll move back. At LEAST I'll have a BASEMENT!!!!
Just a note: My emergency page alert just "rang in" a working fire in the Homasote Plant in NJ
SO I guess that means higher Homasote prices (hey, it works for gasoline!)
About 69F here, no wind (and you must have heard about the Chemical plant explosion about 10 muiles noth of me..!)

I was having this same conversation with a good buddy last night. No place is ideal. All have their own pros and cons. Florida isn't someplace I'd like to live, Lee. I don't think I'd like rebuilding my house every year or two due to hurricane dammage. But it sure sounds good right about now. Seven inches of snow already today and it's still coming down to beat the band. I've lived here all my life and never have liked the stuff. Not even as a kid.

Good morning all,
It is slightly milder today with temps in the 40s in SE Indiana. I got home last night and as soon as I hit the door, my wife asked if I wanted to go back to Indy. Long story short, went to Steak'n'Shake, and took tricycle to granddaughter's birthday party. She is three and she was so excited to see us and the trike. It was worth seeing her expression, but it was a long night. At least my wife drove both ways. I had a little extra on the usual fare from the dining car this morning. I am also glad to see a fresh pot of coffee. I hope everyone (especially the Corvair fans) has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Dennis, you've worked hard on that project. God bless. Will be looking forward to seeing it. You did that and worked your regular job. Maybe now you can do some trains and relax.
Morning all. Sunny and warmer today. Got to run to Town for some shopping. Have a good one.
Well, I am tired! worked all yesterday till midnight and got called back at 0435. Will stick it out for a few short cases this morning and then I will head home to crash. Wife has plenty of honey dos for me, so it will be a short nap. No train time for the next few days.
Hope everyone is blessed this day,

Morning to All.
A fresh pot is on. Yesterday was a busy day. Went to DC to pack up our son and bring him home for a few weeks. Also had tickets for a White House Tour. It was nice, but I would not have to go again.
Will try to check in later today.
Take care,
Mitch

Jim, the name of the movie is "Fireproof".
Dennis: Great name! Our youth group uses it too! We'll look for it in August. Just read Synopsis. Only in theatres?! Sony Motion pictures!? Looks like your're in the big time! Great news! I was ready to call your church to buy it. I'll hype it at our Church. Please send information on getting posters.
Brutus: Hang in there. Try thinking about Chewy licking peanut butter cookies and banilla off Sir James face, while singing 'I've got a lov-e-ly bunch of Coconuts' Diddle-de-dee-dee. Hope that helps.
Edit: Sir James: Now why would I do that? OK...I'll do that.
Watched a part of a bad movie this am 'Torque'. They ran motorcycles on the passenger cars from one end of the train to the other. The tops of passenger cars were ramped to jump the motorcycles over the connections. Pulled by an unnamed silver F3.
