IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Well, tonight I find out if I wasted the last 12 years of my life. Kids I have been coaching and/or practicing with for that time start their last soccer tourney. We should win the sectional (tonight and hopefully, Saturday), which is all I have expectations of doing. We have beaten or tied the other three teams in our grouping. Perhaps I should not feel this way, but I have invested a lot of time and energy and I would hate to see no results. Tomorrow this time I will be either very unhappy or semi-happy (as there would still be one more game). We shall see.
In the meantime, I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast on the dining car from "Points East". I hope everybody (especially the soccer team) has a good day.

Been getting changed around from that 3rd. shift to days now, on vacation & installing a new Atlas single track bridge. Got it in place already. It looks kind of big & I'm not used to it yet !!

It is a clear, sunny, 62 degrees. Going up to 88 today, with sunshine.
Today, I am taking it easy. Yesterday, was a busy day. I have a few chores to do, then I will relax under the shade tree. Shade is getting less as the leaves are falling. Darn.
Well, only two days left before the Train Show. It looks like we will have a good turn out. Looking forward to seeing the OTTS guys.

I need to get some information regarding your Kids Club at the museum, I think we are going to try setting something up like that. We need to do a lot of PR and community work to continue our club.

No, it's not to close to UCSD. It's pretty much smack dab in the middle of a residential area. All in all they were pretty lucky, the slide didn't happen in the middle of the nite to a totally unsuspecting populous. Unfortunately there is no insurance coverage for "Earth Movement" when not associated with a quake, although we did have a very minor one the other day. Supposedly a 3.0, if it hadn't been on the news wouldn't have known it happened.
Don, I'll pass your e-mail addy on to John E., he is the "Kids Club" honcho or you could try contacting him directly thru the club's web site. If you go thru our site be sure to use me as a reference, course my name and $1.50 is good for a cup of coffee. Let me know which way you would prefer to handle that.

I continued on with the "All" command activites this am, and a little this evening. Really doin well with it. Then I go to our train club this evening, and some of the guys were talking about DCS and how problematic it is, and confusing to work with! I didn't say a word, some people don't want to hear anything different. Talk about bias and prejudice, whew! My whole thing is working on nothing more than two alligator clips, connected on a track section off a siding. It is NOT suppose to be working, but works great.

I've got a bunch of Dept 56 and Lemax Halloween buildings. I think Dept 56 would be wise to have some buildings available in snowvillage and non-snowvillage versions. Howdy ev'body! Went out to Red Robin for dinner for birthday, friends' kid. Had the new Blackened Bayou Burger - pretty good! Onion rings were great as always! No new train stuff today, sorry. Full of cake, but you guys can help yourself to icecream or popcorn, take your poison! Chewy was sick on the couch sometime today and my wife had to clean up - aparently a really big mess. I think one of the kids left some poptart out where she could get it... Oh well, dogs will be dogs.

Made it to Columbia bythe way of Bass Pro Shops in Concord [Charlotte]. Enterprise screwed up the whole world today. Suppose to pick me up at 9:00 AM. Guy claimed no vehicles. Then 10:00. Then at 11:00, ten minutes. Then at 11:45, ten minutes. Then at 12:15, ten minutes. Call back. "Sir, I'm so sorry. New guy. I had a vehicle I could have put you in but he said your schedule was flexable. Putting you in a Jeep. No gas tgo pay for. What else can I do?" "PICK ME UP!!!!" "Ten minutes." "End of Rogers Rd., turn left and sixth house past the school on Main Street. I will be standing by the street so she will not miss the house." 1PM, she comes out of big subdivision. She could not read the sign, MAIN STREET. Then, you guessed it. She drove right past me and suddenly slamed on brakes. DUUHHH.
Well, met Lisa on my side of Greensboro and she has found a unknown tain store near there. We ate [she nibbled] at KW. She showed me some EBay finds she had won. Got some track from her for my storage shelves. Good to see her. Made her run late for her "home visit". I was so pissed off at Enterprise, I did not care if I got to SC for computer class or not. Then guy in SC called and said don't worry about it so I wentg to BPS. Took 45 minutes to drive 15 miles on I 85 [just before getting to BPS] due to wreck blocking the highway. Did teach two new employees charger class. Trip around Charlotte on I 485 was longer than I thought it would be but no jams. Hotel is in a big monster shopping area and had to retrack a block to get to it. Great room though. Out early tomorrow for Dealer Show.
BTW: The Enterprise employees that ddid not know their --- from a whole in the ground are young Yankees that just moved South. DUMB!!!! Guess that is what they "put out" from Yankee Universities.

Well I went to Michaels. There were so many buildings there! I ended up getting the Greenstamps building for $22. There were a bunch of things I would have liked to leave with. They had the ferris wheel and a bunch of other carnival items. Those were some pretty expensive items! They had two isles filled from top to bottom, and had all of the operational items running.
They had everything for 25% off. The sale continues until the 6th. On a side note, all of my stickers are crooked, but I don't mind much.
We just finished running some trains. We started with the 2343s and ran them for a good long time while our B&M Beep ran on the inner track. Then we ran a Marx 1666 on the inner track and our NYC 4-4-2 pulling a passenger consist on the outer loop. Between the two steamer locomotives, the room was filled with smoke.
John's farm got a new tractor recently. An orange Case model. It looks great next to the pumpkins. Torn between detailing it and leaving it shiny any toy-like. I happen to like shiny and toy-like.
I heard from The Beav earlier this afternoon. Enterprise didn't pick him up until 1:30! I hope he got to meet up with Miss Lisa, of skunk fame.

Jon, just think, you had spoken of redoing your layout soon. Be glad you held off till this offer was done. As to the length of time to shoot and the amount of equipment, I know all about that. We have a ton of equipment being assembled for our movie project and soon will begin shooting 8 weeks worth of 16 hour days for a 2 hour movie. Time to kick my energy levels into high gear.

OK, so I finally got through the last several pages since I last checked in.
Don, that sounded like a great moment. I hope to attempt something similar in the future.
On the topic of Lemax, I first started getting them when I got a K-line catalog and right after, I found myself in Sears. They had the ice cream parlor and the hamburger stand for about $10.00 less than K-Line advertised. Then I went to Michael's and found a bunch of great stuff. Always check internet and with the workers at the store about coupons and discounts. For items that you absolutely want, like the ferris wheel, etc., buy them with the coupons when you see them, chances are, everyone will want them and they'll be gone. If you have items you would like, but can hold off, wait till after Christmas and you can get them for as much as 70% off. I recently picked up the hospital using a 50% coupon. We have the Duck shooting gallery, swing ride, and several other items. Also, check out the Big Lots for the Mr. Christmas series. They have nice scale carousels and swing rides, etc. at good prices.
I tried to get Michael's to put coupons in Classic Toy Trains magazines, but they say the Lemax figures are not exactly to scale. I don't buy the figures, but the buildings are close enough for me. And Yes, I will have some on the permanent layout....if my wife will let me have them as she wants them for the Christmas set up.
Lastly, if you go to WalMart, they have a special lighting set that has I believe, 5 or 6 of the building lights with clips all on one power cord. If you have your buildings relatively close together, you can light them without a bunch of separate lights to plug in.

Wes, If they are in your area check out Big Lots, they normally carry a brand made by Lemax for the "discount stores". If they are animated the animations won't be as fancy as the Lemax brand but they will still have some animation. This is especially true of the halloween items.

Jim, we did another movie prior to "Facing the Giants", called "Flywheel". Sony has picked it up and is issuing a "Director's Cut" version that will be released in November. It has already sold over 100,000 copies just from the church. It is also available in Blockbuster, so if you are planning on a movie night, you could rent it. Also, if you PM me at dwiemer@yahoo.com I can get your information and I will buy a copy from the church and send it your way.
Checking in as another slow day. A few minor trauma cases, but otherwise, I believe this to be the calm before the storm. Did some layout work last night. Son helped, but wanted to do more. During scenery, I think he will have more work than he can take.
