Wes,
That is why I don't want to go into DC unless absolutely necessary (which is not the case, I have a decent job, just growing tired of the people and the BS).  I'll go as far as Bethesda (1.5 hour commute), but would like to keep it within 45 (Baltimore City).

I've had some whopper of job calls - some awesome positions (poor location), or great pay (poor location), and a couple of great locations (don't know about the work/environment).  So I'm just looking right now and the resume is getting TONS of hits!

Brent - Good story.  I have seen people like that.

She should really concentrate on calling people in her "five", or frends and family plans!  She probably didn't have 5 people who wanted to talk to her...especially 3K worth in a month.

88 - That's what you get when you show JERRY SPRINGER & MAURY POVICH in the middle of the morning.  People watch that shlock and think that's how they are supposed to communicate.  Doesn't matter what the substance of my opinion means, if I can shout you down the loudest, I win the argument...Disapprove [V]  The Baltimore/Washington "Metroplitan area" has become a cespool of this mindset, and that is one of the reasons we are leaving.

Doug - LOL!  You must have been at Verizon.  I went into the store to have my phone fixed (lost two screws that held the LCD screen onto the flip) while I was there a lady came in...

'Hello ma'am how can I help you.'

'You bleeping, bleep, bleep, bleep's charged me $1,200.00 on my cell phone bill.  What the bleep!  How the bleep do you bleepers expect me to bleeping pay a bleeping $1,200.00 phone bill!'

'Ma'am may I have your phone number so I can check your usage?'

'111-111-1111.  What the bleep.'

'Ma'am you used 3,000 minutes last month and you only pay for 450 minute plan, you had $1,147.50 in overage charges. I could upgrade you to the 4000 minute plan, it is $149.99 per month? I'll also see if my manager can back date it so you will save $1,000.00'

'WHAT THE BLEEP!  I DIDN'T BLEEPING USE 3,000 BLEEPING MINUTES!  YOU LYING BLEEP!  LET ME TALK TO YOUR BLEEPING MANAGER!  I CAN'T BLEEPING BELIEVE THIS! BLEEP!'

manager comes out and listens to her curse up and down... mind you there are families in the store.  He asks her to calm down so they can discuss the situation... she continues her diatribe.  He tells her that if she doesn't calm down and stop cursing he will have to call the police...

BOOM!

Talk about a firecracker going off!  She really laid into him... he called the police, they show up, tell her she is going to be arrested for disorderly conduct if she doesn't knock it off...

She FINALLY calms down and accepts their offer...

I couldn't believe it!  Someone offers to save me $1,000 no way I'm going to cause a scene like that.  Oh and to top it off she walked out of the store talking on her cell phone...

Good Afternoon Everyone !!  Great weather we're having here too.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my Budd cars. I never thought to turn on all the lights. I was just trying to show what my new bridge looked like !!  Behind that one is also the Atlas double bridge, but you hardly see it from a normal view of the layout. Boy, I can't wait to see what my new Atlas steamer will look like going through that bridge !! Another month, I guess.

Oh, Don : I saw your club layout pictures & that is really nice !! I keep forgetting stuff since the forum changed & you can't see all the posts.

Hope everyone has a nice day & Oh yeah, Indians won last night !!

Thanks, John

I hope to go to the Great Train Show at DuPage County Fairgrounds in another week.  I hear there's another show somewhere in Pennsylvania this month - Ork? Bork?

Rain just blew through the city - it is now incredibly humid and hot out (for October) - supposed to top out at 90. Just walked all the way up (and back) State Street - that great street - to the cell phone store to reset an old phone (glad I keep 'em) replacing one lost by the kids. Had to wait while the screaming customer in front of me understood you gotta pay for your calls... No more exercise for me today. Too muggy.

Another warm, dry one out there today. Took a nice long walk and enjoyed the weather. Looking forward to 3 days off - is painting a bedroom considered taking time off? Then the dreaded bathroom project...

Only 5 weeks until the next train show.

Morning!

Teeth cleaned today...Big Smile [:D]  All good teeth no additional appointments.  Dentist is just as big a sadist as the Doctors...It hurts here? (poking into gum) Here right?  Here. Yep.  Here? Yep...

mitchelr:  Sorry to hear about your mom.  Glad doctors have things under control.  You have my prayers.

Jumijo, Fife:  Prayers for you GIZ too!  Especially during remodelling!  Your tetanus is up to date right?  Glad to hear you attend church...and golly, it's not Easter or Christmas or anything!

Don:  Great news about the letter!

G'morning from a sunny and warm Chicago.  Nice Budd cars, John. What is it about police departments and Dodge Chargers?  The next-town-over just bought a few. Sure look funny crusing up and down the main commercial street. A friend of mine on that force thinks they're a bad fit. Hard to fit all the front seat equipment and to put people in the back. Does not idle well either.

I was down-on-myself all yesterday after noticing by my sloppily painting-over drain holes in some windows sills last year, they've begun to rot. Need to see if there's some magic epoxy out there to fix or fill them. Rats!

Don, good news about your son's letter - they are pretty 'loose' with requirements at our local HS. My daughter earned one in track after running varsity for just half a season before she was hurt.

Nope... that was what he had for Lunch! Shock [:O]

Brent-are you going to put durarock or blue sheetrock behind the shower?

Plan to use durarock (I think that is what it is), but it really depends on how thick the drywall is... either durarock, cement board, or the green drywall (least preferred method).

Well I’ve got all the footers and footings dug and gravel ordered for delivery, grade set for the garage addition floor.  Looking forward to moving to the construction phase.  Got class Saturday.  Homework all done and have to give two homilies.  Going to be busy day.  Got to go

Looks like you caught the bug too! Wink [;)]

Forgot to mention yesterday... I've grown tired of my job.  It is boring (gouging my eyes out with a rusty, dull, spoon sounds like more fun than this job), the good people are leaving, and the remaining people are annoying as Fran Dresher talking while on Helium while dragging her fingernails along a chaulkboard.  So I updated my resume and posted on that job site... yesterday I was contacted about 8 jobs, today I'm on my 6th already... Morning all

Off today and going to work on daughter’s car.  Looks like a rolling dumpster from the trash inside.  A stark contrast from the way I keep my cars.  I must of left a negative impression as she was growing up.

Don-Great news about your son’s football letter.  Years from now all that will matter is he got the letter, and he will appreciate what you did for him.

Mitch-I’ll keep your mom and the rest of the family in my prayers for a full speedy recovery.

Fifey, with all the recent self-rightiousness on the pot, I've decided to keep my more humorous thoughts to myself. And isn't that what you yourself suggested? I'm going to church on Sunday to pray for you and the rest of us CTT bad boys (including The Beav). Bless you, my child, and peace be to you.

How did you go about removing the floor tiles? I'm working on a MB project as well, and since it's upstairs, I want to be carefull.

First - Mitch your Mother, and the rest are in our prayers.

Fife - I was supposed to remove everything in one piece? Shock [:O] Lots of broken tile right now.

JimA - I was concerned about that as well as my MB is on the second floor.  To remove the tile I grabbed my 3lb hand sledge and broke the tile closest to one of the vanities.  Then I took my 1 inch chisel and 3lb sledge and went to work... you want the slope on the edge of the chisel on the subfloor, if you put the flat side on the subfloor you will end up gouging the floor and that isn't good.  I have to be extra careful because I don't know what is between my subfloor and the floor supports, if I find I have a mid-subfloor then I'll probably rip that plywood up and put down some concrete backer board (much better for securing tile).  I have to pull up the floor in the toilet room tonight so I'll take a couple pics for you to see (promise) what I'm doing.  I have to remove tile from the walls around the shower and tub walls, to do that I will cut the drywall around the bullnose edge, then remove the tile and drywall in one motion.  Since I am retiling the walls, and the new tile will extend over the joints I don't have to worry about getting the walls 100% smooth. Smile [:)]  Had Susan shovelling tile and removing wall paper last night... she's definitely a keeper... I bumped her with the push broom handle once and she asked me to not attempt to put the handle where it doesn't belong! Shock [:O] It wasn't even close, was resting on her sholder... had fun working with her last night, though I still wish my Dad lived closer would be done with demo by now (I can tell him what to do and let him go, with Susan I have to keep checking to make sure she is doing it correctly and not having too much fun and making the project larger).

Morning to All.

Have not posted in a few days because things have been crazy in my life.  Sunday my Mom was taken to the hospital with chest pains.  We had just left their house about 10 minutes before, when Dad called to tell us.  We were at hospital with her until nearly 11:00 PM, then home (1.5 hour drive) because dog was home alone.  Went to work Monday, they did stress test.  She failed and had a heart attack on the tread mill. Took her to Univesity of Maryland Hospital in downtown Baltimore for cardiac cath. Drove to Hospital 1.5 hours. Diagnosis severe coronary artery blockages.  Then home for dog.  Slept at home went to work Tuesday then [acked up wife and pooch to go to hospital on Wednesday for surgery. Could not operate right away due to concerns over severe upper respiratory infection and schedule.  Had surgery on Wednesday, late afternoon evening.  We were at the hospital until after 11:00 PM.  Yesterday she was released from Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit to a step down unit.  They even had her up and walked to the new room.  She spent most of the day dozing in the chair.  We spent the day at the hopsital and then came home last night to get mail and newspapers, etc. Will head back down tomorrow early AM to go to hospital with Dad.  Mom, Dad, now sister and my wife have the respiratory infection.  I hope all the hand washing and disinfecting I did will save me from it.

Mom is recovering nicely, but please keep her in your prayers.

Take care,

Mitch

Don - That club layout is flat out unreal!  Love the trestle with the steel bridge in the back ground, and the double arch bridge is neat too!  Amazing scenery!

NOW WHERE ARE OUR VIDEOS OF YOUR LAYOUT!?!?!?

John - Love the BUDD Cars... you need more light though, looks like you are modeling a subway. Wink [;)] - not that there's anything wrong with that.

I've been working on the masterbathroom remodel... have the floor tile removed, wall paper removed, and most of the tile on the tub surround.  Want to get the tile off the shower walls and the wall behind the tub tonight... then start fixing the walls tomorrow.  Can't wait to see the finished product, should be a major change/improvement if everything goes well.

Thought about taking a pic of the tender last night when I was in bed, then I thought 'I have to go downstairs, get the camera, then go to the basement, find the tender, take the pic, and come back up... I'll do it tomorrow!' Laugh [(-D]

Philaknight - Always fun to say to the perp,"You shouldn't be out knocking little old ladies down and taking their purses, in your delicate condition..."  (Best stated when the ER nurse is choosing a cathater...Evil [}:)])

dbaker48 - Good news for boy.  Sometimes sports coaches need reality checks...

CSXect - I hate those snazzy new Dodge Chargers...only because I'm not driving a snazzy new Dodge Charger...Sad [:(]

csxt30 - nice long run you've got there.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  I did trackwork at the YMCA last night.  I see where the dining car rolled in from "Points East" with breakfast.  Don B, congrats on the grandson's letter.  Too bad it was such a hassle.  Thank you, Brutus, for the comment.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
