Sir James,

From what I have been told, many sellers have high prices on shipping as Ebay doesn't take it's cut from that.  The fees for listing and the percentage of the selling price can add up.  The sellers are trying to increase the overall profit from the sale.  So long as you are aware of it, you can deal with it.  Just don't bid any more than the value of the item minus the shipping and make that your high bid.

On other subjects, all this talk about "universal health care" and the promisses of those wanting to inhabbit the White House is making me ill.  We already have universal health coverage in this country.  When I get called in at 3am for a stabbing, I come in along with everyone else on the team.  We rush into action, save the live of this person, and treat them as if they were a member of our own family.  The fact that we have spent over $50,000.00 of costs saving this person's life is not predicated on them having insurance, not being a member of a gang, not being on drugs, or any other factors.  We have had all of the above and even worse, but they all get the same care, nothing held back.

Ok, off SoapBox [soapbox] and back to trains.  I saw a neat show on Freight Trains on Modern Marvels the other day.  Amazing how the new generation of locomotives are made.  Using air cussions to move these bohemouths around and all the latest technology in these makes your head spin.  They also had some great vintage photos as well.

Hope everyone has a blessed day,

dennis

Dennis - MagLev is an incredible technology, not sure why it hasn't been incorporated into freight trains here in the US - maybe Buckeye could enlighten us?  I'm sure it has alot to do with cost.  I saw somewhere that Japan is working on a hybrid engine... um folks... Europe has been using these type of engines for decades... Confused [%-)] They use electric in the city (reduce polution) and diesel in remote areas due to the high cost of building electric lines and maintaining them.

I'm looking forward to seeing the first solar powered train....

Afternoon all,

Got off this morning at 7a.m., took a bit of a nap then got up to return my sleep to "normal" tonight.  Got to love shift work

Dr. John, at work we store dry ice in a freezer and it will last a bit.  Chunks last longer than pellets, and the denser the longer it will last.  Like already stated wrap it in a paper sack or towel and avoid placing the ice directly on plastic like a cooler bottom as it may crack the plastic.

Wish I could come up to the train show this weekend, looks like you will be having a good time.  When you see the American Flyer stuff, think of me.

Missed out on the 740 handcar and the 5300 tipple set on the bay, did not have deep enough pockets, maybe next time, there is a 336 ?$?$?$?

Well going outside for a bit, will check in later

May God bless

Has anyone ever stored dry ice for a short period? I've got to pick up a small amount (2-3 lbs.) for the wife. Has something to do with halloween or some evil experiment she's conducting at the school where she works. I'm kind of fuzzy on that. Anyway, for a 24 hour period is the referigerator okay or should I put it in the freezer?

Freezer!  Transport it wrapped in brown paper inside of a cooler.  Handle with leather gloves or tongues.  This stuff will burn you!

Dr. John, I have a recipe for instant Ice Cream if you (or your wife) is interested.  Involves liquid nitrogen, and a Kitchenaid blender.

Ran-Dee? That's because I'm back. My bad. I too will be at church Sunday, praying for my very soul.

John, Ask the dry ice people the best way to store it. Who would know better.
