Interesting auction, but I don't think my wife will believe the old "oh I've had that"routine.

Good evening,

For anyone looking for some motive power or rolling stock, check this out.

HEBRON, Ohio - The Doug Smith Realty & Auction Co. has been commissioned to sell a number of items from the Buckeye Central Scenic Railroad, which is shutting down its operation at Hebron, Ohio, according to the realty and auction company's web site.

The items scheduled to be on the block Oct. 13 at the Buckeye Central Scenic include: Davenport 50-ton diesel locomotive No. 4; Plymouth model JDT locomotive No. 7; BCSRR coach No. 200 (Constitution), ex-Baltimore & Ohio; former B&O/REA baggage/horse car No. 742; a Chessie System caboose; a tie handler; a Kilbourne & Jacobs dump car; a small open hopper car; and a variety of grade-crossing signals, sheds, tools, and hardware.

Sounds like enough to build a pretty good sized layout.

Hi guys - humid in St. Louis, too!  Not just your problem in KC Mickey4479!  Supposed to rain tonight.  If it doesn't then I'll touch up paint tomorrow night and take a pic to share of those window frames.  For a small project, it sure devoured a lot of my time....  This weekend I will start making my Halloween Layout.  Once I get a table top made on my old wood sawhorses, I will get out all my buildings and let the kids help me figure out a good layout and design.  Will try to find a way to "mostly" finish it, be able to easily remove the buildings for transport to the garage, etc.

Hey - why doesn't Lionel add a Halloween or Transylvania Trolley?!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

That's why most of mine are diesels or postwar steam so I know a whistle when I hear it and a horn when I hear it. Have to admit thou I like the true horn sound coming out of some of these newer engine over the horn in the post war engines but don't take me wrong like them to but getting a little partial to the more accurate horn sound.

Jim, not any more than most of our members.  I prayed and our financial part.  This movie I have a fairly big part...not on camera though.  I am procuring the majority of the items used.  There will be  a special treat for the folks here, but I can divulge no more information than that.

I was wondering from some of the info in past posts.  You may of said something before I regularly visited the pot.  Really great movie.  First DVD I have bought since "The Passion" and plan on using it during a youth lockin we are going to do this fall.

Getting ready to go to work, I'll check in as time allows

Mickey, I believe Roy M. is going to be in your neck of the woods soon.  you may want to give him a shout as he likes to catch up with folks while in the area.  Good guy, but I doubt we have much in this part of the country he would be called to work in.  (unless he wants to come wire my layout for meWhistling [:-^]).

Anyway, hope all is well

Good early afternoon,

Can't seem to get started on anything since getting back from vacation.  Did run some trains a little bit.  Have a doll house to build before Christmas and just barely started, need to get cracking.  50th reunion chairperson came out yesterday with a whole bunch of work for me to do before the event.  Wish this thing were over.  Most of the stuff they have me printing will just get thrown away I am sure.  I guess there is a lot of interest as 63 of the surviving 95 class members have signed up.  It is being held on the 20th of October and I have informed them that there will be NO last minuite work by me. (That is York week!)

Take care,

Just got back from my walk. It's warm out there today. Supposed to be in the low 70's, but I'm sweating like mid 80's.

Now for some cake.

Good morning from Kansas City, MO.  Last week I started seeing some green stuff growing in my yard.  I was very concerned since I had not seen this for about 3 months.  On closer inspection it turned out to be GRASS!  No kidding, I have cut my grass less than 6 times since July 1st here in KC because we have not had much rain until lately. Ironically, the humidity was still around and I have to keep a dehumidifier working the basement all summer.

Chief:  I have my layout in the basement and have a dehumidifier working during pretty much all the time in humid Kansas City until the winter months.  I wonder how well an ionic breese would work in a basement.  Offhand, I do not see a reason it would not do well.  Your thoughts?

I didn't think there was a season for beaver.  I thought you could shoot those things whenever you wanted.  Kinda like squirrels, moles, and related vermim.  I have a few on my list as well.

Sounds like you're feeling better!  Glad to hear it.

In acquision phase as we speak.  I've been collecting bridges thru the year.  Looks like a Fastrack/Tubular combination.  Bride said my old tubular looks dirty, so I am planning the Fastrack around the town, with an elevated circle of tubular around the middle of the Tree.

5x8 main layout with 42-inch loop around the tree, and crossover between the two.  Inner loop of 36-inch, and outer loop of 48-inch diameter.  Not sure if funding is available to add switches between inner and outer loop.  That may have to wait 'til next year.  Still planning how to unload boxcar, and present dump cars.

Are you talking about the Inoic Breeze.  If so, it works.  I have two.  One downstairs and one in the train room.  Dust went down 100%.  I live in an old house [like George Bailey] and we use to have dust behind dust [espcially with dogs on carpet].  Got one of those and the dust has dropped to unbelievable levels.  So, when I did the layout in the two rooms, I got one for the main train room.  Hardly any dust on engines and rolling stock.  Will "gum" up a little faster from the smoke oil.  Mine have no smells at all.  You can feel the breeze coming out of it and it has no fan.  Now I can tell you about California.

A Couple of links for information:

G' morning from a foggy and clearing Chicago. Supposed to be in the 80s still this week - hoo rah! Jim A was kind enough to make me all sorts of beautiful decals for the Rail Zepp. He sure has a way with a font... I asked him especially for some lettered for his road because my traction co. seems to pick its vehicles up all over the place: New Orleans, Philly, San Fran, Jumijo... I imagine it is like Bemidji in Minnesota. Wink [;)]

Mike C reminded me to check the daughter's grades on the very-sophisticated high school website - hmmm, need a family chat about completing assignments.

Jim... sorry about that... I started ripping out tile when I got home, then the Mrs arrived and told me I was doing it wrong... what's with that??? Then we had to go shopping for a portable DVD player for her brother's b-day gift, wedding gifts for her cousin, and then I had to stop at Lowes to get supplies to reroute the plumbing in the bathroom... by the time I got home I was too tired.

I'll get to it!  Promise!

And what about the photo of that tender you were going to post last night. I sat up all night waiting for it.

And speaking of the Beav - does anyone have a favorite episode? I love that show. My favorite was the one where Ward and the boys are all packing fudge...I think it was for a bake sale or picnic or something. Such a wholesome show.
