Hello all

Quiet weekend on the mountain.

JimS - too bad about the rabbits.

Chief - you are a good sport!

Reading an interesting book on the Flxible Company. We have two of their 'new look' transit buses in the collection. They also had partnerships w/ Twin Coach and agreed to buy them out in 1953. The book has a fair bit of info about Twin Coach too. It turns out I now have a significant connection to Buffalo, NY. The '48 Twin Coach I am buying to eventually build into my own motorhome was built in Cheekawanda and all Corvair engines were made in Tonowanda. Both suburbs of Buffalo. If I ever do use the bus to travel I should tow one of the Corvairs back to visit:) Maybe take them to Niagra Falls...? Could be the closest thing to a 'honeymoon' I ever have:)

Good evening all,

Warm day.  Did some yard work and will probably have to mow tomorrow if weather permits.  Got those 3 steel pipes that have been up in the barn since we moved in down to the ground.  Will take them next Saturday AM with other metal junk and get some salvage money for them.  Watched 1st Detroit race today.  Munoz got 14th for AJ and Daly had a good run going until engine quit.  MR and Trains came today.  Wife and I played a variety of games tonight.  It was nice.  Stur-fish, sorry to hear about the rabbits.  If I ever catch any in the yard, I will ship them your way.....   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening from warm beautiful 86°F Southern Ohio,

A lot has been going on around here.  Friday we bought the John Deere X330.  IT is really a nice mower.  Plenty of power cuts great and maneuvers great.  The baby rabbits all died Thursday night due to a freak unseasonably cold spell after a very hot day and the mothers moved out all the fur and bedding because it was so warm during the day.  No meat pen rabbits for the fair.

We've been moving boxes to the new house and putting stuff away.  I started putting in the gas line for the dryer and re-doing the gas line for the stove.  We put all the screens in the windows as the previous owners never used them.  There are two bedrooms to paint and a couple of ceiling fans to install.

Movers are going to come next Friday and I took next week off to get the things to-dos done.

Fife – Sounds like you're happy!

May God bless

Jim

Evenin' boys.  Clear and 72, on a moonlit night in the Potomac Highlands.  My "grooming" continued today, learning the turntable, emergency brake system, coupler placement, etc.  Sometimes I feel like I should be paying them for letting me work there.  It's been that enjoyable.  Talked to Fifepup a little while ago.  He's doing fine, but still not getting the hours he needs at the marina.  He sounded good just the same.

Here is the customer service # tel:877-243-4903

Clicked "Our Magazine" (in black bar at page header)/clicked "Contact our Magazine"/clicked "Customer Service" and then the # was at the bottom of the page. Good luck!

Morning all!

Raining here. The skies opened up last night while we were at our nephews HS grad ceremony. Learned later that some areas got up to 5" in 45 min. It broke when we left the arena. The family went to a nice celebratory dinner at a good Italian place. Skies opened up agin while inside, then broke again for the drive home. All good!

Dennis - yep. Eating heart healthy is very difficult. Hate it but try to adhere to the regimen as best possible. Italian is heart healthy right?

SJ - Chief also got his clothes washed early this month!

Chief - take care of yourself! Get better soon!

Good Morning,

Good to see everyone doing well and having a good time.  Not much going on here, going to try replace a headlight assembly on Chris' Mini Cooper.

Also  been working on a layout redesign, not really sure what I'm trying to accomplish.  Hopefully get some inspiration soon!

Take care and have a great week-end.

Good morning,

Another nice one here guys, but heading to 90.

Daughters car is on the way here so I can change the front wheel hub assembly.

I pulled out the tractor and truck from the shed and turned on the ac so the shed won't heat up as the day does.

They are calling for almost 90 today. I sure don't want to work in that at my age.

We had lunch yesterday at a nice bar and grill called Greenhorns in Morris, very good food and lots of it. More than I could eat at one sitting.

I have Al the guy who did our septic coming out on Monday to check the pressures on both the house and shed HVACs. Never done it in the 13 years we have been here so I figured it is time. House seems good but the shed seems a little weaker than it used to be and I can feel slight bubbles on the high side line that I should not. It is still working but I think it is a bit low on  Freon.

Nice way to cool off Chief. Yes

Hello there,

had a long post going last night but dozed off and it was gone.

Interesting discussion on Medicare. I'm starting to look into filling the gap from 63 to 65.

Gotta go.

Prayers for those in need

Chief,  hope they used warm water.  I just got second notices to renew my CTT and Classic Trains. In the past you could just call a number and pay with a credit card.  I don't see a number now in the letter.  Guess I will just have to use snail mail.  Went out to breakfast as usual on Friday with my train buddies.  I had steak and eggs with hash browns and a pancake.  Didn't think I could eat it all but I did.  My friend Larry is going back to Chicago next week to ride behind Nickle Plate 765 roundtrip to Chicago from Joliet.  They are running two days Saturday and Sunday.  He wants to chase it one day and ride the other but can't get much information on passing sidings, run bys etc.  I think they are trying to not give out too much advance information to cut down on traffic problems with railfans.

Have a nice week end,

Ray

Been back to DR.  More meds.  Still having to "Mayor".  Went to Sanford Creek Elementary for field day.  Didn't stay long but did get PE teacher to get me wet.  She threw wet bean bags at a target.  If she hit, dumped water on me.

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Good weather for walk.  Went home to pick up wife so we could go to Bloomington to watch grandson's baseball game.   Team won 14-4.  He had two solid contacts with ball that turned into flyouts and one strikeout.  He fielded well.  Got home past 11 PM.   Was up at 5 AM.  Long day.  Best news from Detroit was that Conor Daly was 13th quick in second practic session.  I hope everyone has a good day.

In honor of the title of this thread I would like to point out for those of you who don't already know;  June 2nd is offical National Donut Day.  This may mean free donut deals from various bakeries and vendors in your area.  Alas we no longer have a Krispy Kreme where I live, but Dunkin Donuts is offering a free donut with a purchase of any beverage.  Party on!

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 56 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Back on the train for the next 3, then maybe a day or 2 at the shop early next week.

Wifey and I travelled to Danville, PA so she could get her pre-op testing done for the marrow transfusion.  Met up with her brother and nephew there, and BIL looked good for all he's been through.  We'll keep our fingers crossed.  While in town, discovered a cajun style restaurant, Seidel's.  Very unassuming on the outside, but very nice on the inside, and the food was very good.

RT - yes they need your zip code. Health care costs vary based on your location. It is not a "coverage" issue.

Kevin I know they make the big bank off of anything the support. Thats why I'm still looking at plan F. As Roy said I have to look at other things also. What I don't understand is why they have to have your zipcode, is it different coverage where you live?

RT - you have to be careful. The issue is not whether your wife or anyone likes or does not like going to a doc (and goes as little as possible). As you well know at our age there will be a point where you will be unexpectedly forced into a hospital and when that happens you may wish you had a better plan.

To say what Kev said a different way, Medicare is a big boondoggle to insurance companies. They are essentially guaranteed to get paid. That is why everyone and his dog is in the Medicare game.

BTW - to prove the point - like Kev I have never seen so many companies offering Medicare plans (about 40 so far - I have been keeping a file since I started getting these fliers last year - most from the most obscure companies - never trust a company called Integrity Insurance that you only hear about for the first time when you are 64 yrs old) - and yet in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) there are only 2 companies left in Texas - and of the 2 - BCBS (the other company is very obscure) only offers an HMO and have stopped issuing individual PPO policies (ACA or not) altogether. It is very difficult to get an individual health insurance policy in TX. My healthy 26 yr old daughter tried to get an ACA plan - the subsidized cost was over $350 per month. Someone making $35k a year cannot afford $4,000 per year for health insurance (with a huge deductible). With the help of a trusted ins agent we had to assemble an old school basic major medical plan with a rider to make it ACA compliant - less than $200 per month and huge deductible.

Interesting conversation on Medicare as I will be going down that road in a few years.  Pirates of the Caribbean was surprisingly good, better than the reviews.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Roy I called and talked with a agent from the company that AARP suports and because wife basically won't go to a doctor I was suggested part N. Which is cheaper than either the others you all mentioned

Just keep in mind it is not about "you" when you talk to a supplier. It is about them. Why you need to do your own homework.

There must be a ton of money to be had because I have had hundreds of offers to get coverage. ( who told everyone I was going to be 65????)  Just do your own home work. What I liked about this place is you can look at many offers and compaire. I think a Consoler if you need one would be money well spent.

Don’t think for a minuet AARP is not making bank on what they pitch to you.

They were more than the BCBS plan F I got and all plan Fs are the same coverage by law. When you delve into other plans like C, your on your own. Do the home work!!!

Kev,

Thanks. Your Part F comment - go big now, hard to upgrade later - is one of the more valuable comments I have received.

Headed out for nephews grad party. Will try to pm you later. thanks!

Roy, I went with part F because it has the most complete coverage and does not cost that much more. No co-pays or deductibles BCBS picks up whatever medicare does not pay. I can use my medicare card and F plan anyplace that takes medicare. Un-like Part C that replaces medicare with an HMO that only works where they want you. You use their ins card just as you would with a work Ins card. Also by getting the F plan now when I am well I can't ever be subject to underwriting as it would be if I got a lesser plan now then got sick and tried to get a better plan and it would be at a much higher price.

There is a lot to consider. Don't want to save a dime then have to spend a buck to fix it later.

PM me if you want to. I have learned a lot this last few months.

Kev,

Didn't you have to pick an administrator for Parts A & B? I have also been purusing BCBS as I had them in the past and was pleased with their support. Still trying to understand the part F stuff.

Btw - did you even look at Part C which is the HMO version and it is claimed 33% are now on Part C. Ran into a guy a few weeks ago that was quite happy with it but could not explain how it was different from normal A & B.
