Sun and 90 today.
We had our annual outdoor modular club meet/BBQ yesterday. Da chief would call it grilling but BBQ is shorter. I'm tired as I went early to help setup but it was a good meet with some guest invited that we would not normally get to visit with. No we are not snobs they come for the outdoor event. Many of them are invited to our regular meets.

And for those in the Chicagoland area, in case you haven't heard: the regularly scheduled Wheaton train show (the "world's largest monthly train show") today had to be cancelled for the first time in my lifetime. More info at http://greatmidwesttrainshow.com/the-june-11-show-has-been-cancelled/

Howdy all - haven't been on much the past few months as leading a large project at my client has been nearly all-consuming. Not much in the way of trains (as there seems not to be in the summer months) but I have picked up a new hobby: learning about tube amplifiers. I'm about 2/3 of the way through building a guitar amp from scratch and it has been a good exercise for the brain. At some point I'll have to merge the two interests for block control or something...
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 68 along the Potomac HIghlands. S'posed to hit 91. Gotta be at the yard by noon for today's run.
dbaker - That's a nifty idea about the stickers, but I would be inclined to hand them out as the little engineers exitted the train... Pizza prints are bad enough on the windows...
Evening all!
Nice day today. 90. Breeze.
Don - your faucet experience is identical to anything I do. I am happy that I have 3 HDs, 2 Lowes, and 2 Ace's within 1-5 miles of my house. I know where everything is in all of them (By necessity). One Ace near me has the best selection of American standard and metric bolts/nuts in SS, blackend, zinc, hex, socket, Allen I have ever seen. An entire aisle, both sides.
Mike C - good deal on your run!
RT - glad the bike riding is going well. I really need to get back into some regular exercising.
Harbor Freight is my friend. If you know tools you can tell which ones will work and those that won't.
Ray - that is some report on what is going on in your world. Great!

Good evening all,
Sprayed weeds behind garage again. Took scrap to recycling place. Got $8.00. Wife helped me spread mulch around landscaped area. Went to mass. Started to watch Indy 11, but they were down 4-1 and I gave up on them. Listening to Indycar race. Munoz out, but Daly can do no worse than 11th as 11 are already out. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
For what I need, Harbor Freight fills the bill. I have gotten a few things from them which have worked out fine ( drill press, Radial Arm saw, Framing nail gun etc )
Evening all. Not a lot going on here today. Been riding a bicycle daily now for about a week. Averaging about 4 miles a day. ( usually in two different rides) Just taking it easy not trying to run any race. Been enjoying it actually.
Hope all having a good weekend

Dennis, Harbor Freight is all over the place. I consider their stuff okay for the guy that will not use it everyday. I just picked up a set of 24 transfer punches for like $10.99. That is cheap but I only need one size and only going to need to center punch 6 holes.
Hello there,
been a long week.
. Lots planned planned for the weekend. Gotta work up more of the garden. Mrs and SIL are going to put in more plants.
Found a gas station in Altoona selling ethanol free gas and bought some yesterday for our small engines. I'm a little skeptical so I'm going to test it.
Son cut hay yesterday to square bale for us. Last evening I mowed the last section of pasture the cows haven't been in yet. Gonna bale it for daughter's goats.(Chief didja ever hear from Pat?) Between garden and a graduation party this PM I'm going to work up Mrs flower beds so I can get the bulbs in..
Tomorrow is my turn to deposit the collection. After that I'll help son bale hay if it's ready.
Won on the Bay yesterday some vintage metal figures.

Don, I don't feel so bad about plumbing bills when I hear those stories of what happens when things go South. I ran some trains today for a change. Got my old Santa Fe 2900 4-8-4 out on the main for a work out. It ran badly until I cleaned the track and pick up rollers on the engine. It is missing 3 out of 4 rubber tires but still runs good. That's the engine I spent a fortune on having it practically rebuilt just to replace a broken gear. Now I have enough in it to have bought a new one. Oh well, live and learn. Did the same thing when I rehabilitated an ACL E-6 diesel set. I'm through trying to save old engines now so when they die, I will just park them. I should have enough engines now to last longer than I will. Picked up a chicken and pasta casserol from Costco yesterday. Enough to feed at least six and I am only one. Ate some tonight and refrigerated balance. Will eat some more tomorrow and freeze the rest. Got some Italian squash and yellow crooked neck squash to cook tomorrow. Have to stay home for a while and cook. I have been living it up eating out too much. Neighbor gave me some things out of his garden. A cucumber and some tomatoes. Cucumber was OK but taste was not as good as I thought it would be for home grown. Tomatoes were OK though. He promised me some avacados when they come in. They are pretty small right now though. Probably be mature in the fall. Grandson finished his second year at U.C. Irvine and is coming back home for the summer. He has to bring some funiture from an apartment he shared with other students. One kid is stuck with a couch that he can't find a home for. My grandson has a summer intern job with Northrop/Gruman where he worked last summer. They asked him to come back again. He needs to get a car for transportation and a drivers license. For now he is taking public light rail trains to work which takes a long time to cross the whole width of L.A. Looking forward to visit from my own kids this weekend.

Evening All,
Alls well here, got the plumbing work done! Was nothing more than a simple kitchen faucett. It only took me 1 1/2 days for a 20 minute job. (Like the Chief says seems like I always make stuff a major deal.) Bottom line is the the house has all copper plumbing, and the two valves have different fittings. The new faucet had 3/8 compression fittings. The old had 1/2 FIF fitting (pipe threads). The hot valve had 1/2 fif, the cold valve had 3/8. Unfortunately their location requires a 12" connection cable. So ended up with 6 trips to 3 Hdwe stores. (ACE was the winner) Needed connection hose with 3/8 comp x 1/2 comp fittings. No one had them. Lowes suggestion was a 1/4 ice maker hose with 3 adapters on each end! I was extremely concerned about cracking the valve from the wall connection. FINALLY was able to get 2 adapters at valve end and 3/8 by 3/8 compresion hose and it works with no leaks.
Dennis, I would bet if chanel 5 stopped broadcasting all those pursuits there would be less of them.
Anjdevil, Good luck chasing the gremlins, that can be a REAL challenge.
Phish, That is a lot accomplished in a short time on the house!
Chief, I can't imagine the "kids" are enjoying all the activity.
Roy, I've attended races at Phoenix (2), Rockingham (1), Fontana (6), and always taped the races. Then I could watch them later. Home was always the best. For many reasons! I enjoy the "bull rings" the best.
Fife, Sure can appreciate your day with the nephew on the train. I did the same with mine. The kids were always the highlight of my day. I made up some stickers with pictures of the engines, and would give the kids a simple question and reward them with a sticker. It became quite popular.
Hope you all have a great week-end !!!
Don
Very quiet day at work. Did a 5K tonight for local BB/BS fundraiser. Set my best 5K timed pace ever with 13:58 miles and a 43:18 time. Started about a half late which did not help my mood, but gave me extra incentive to get done. Foyt team hit bottom today as both cars are in the last row!!!!???? Ugh. Double Ugh. I hope everyone has a good day.
KEV - I have been to the track for several events but never for NASCAR. There are only a couple of ways in and out of the facility and my days of spending 4-6 hrs getting out of a parking lot to then slug it out on packed highways are long gone.
My son and I have taken rides in a NASCAR lower series car for 3 laps around the track. That was worth the price.
NASCAR truck race in Texas today, Roy have you beed there? It is close to where my friend Gene lives. Neat place.
Evenin' boys. Sunny and 70 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. My little nephew was my special guest on today's train. I let him give the "All Aboard" call up at Frostburg. Nice moment.
Good morning all!
Surprise t-storms here this morning and widespread gentle rain. It's good.
Celebrated daughters bday last night. Had a great time and good weather for sitting & dining out. Family, friends, and her buddies present.
Ray - I just tested the number and it is working. Now that most companies have converted to Internet phone service, we experience more "outages" due to Internet & server problems. Here is the number again. Give it another try!

Good morning, Went from cold and wet to hot and dry?
Farmers need some rain. ( so do I ) Oak trees have a leaf drop from the cold and wet. They should be okay but look kind of sick now.
Jim, good luck on the move. Good that you are getting the heavy work done for you.
Chief, any pictures of the construction? Sounds nice.
SJ, bet ther was more action where you were than there would of been at a ball game to.
Nothing much else going on.
Morning all. 78 degrees and cooler for a few. Next week's forecast is 100+ heat index. OMG
Rich, bummer on being off.
Kev, understand the missing of friends and the storm.
Chores and steaks with in-laws tonight.
Back of house has no bricks. Removed and wrapped with Lowes wrap. Windows and all. Utility room is the empty tomorrow and Sunday. Destroy Monday. Footing for new addition Tuesday.

Busy, productive day at work. Nice weather for walk. Went to see Wonder Woman tonight. Good movie. I hope everyone has a good day.
A trip to Toledo's Hollywood casino today. Yeah we lost as usual but not much. Less than a tiger ball game after parking ect. Twas a perfect 75 degrees. A beautiful day.
Good Evening from beautiful 72°F and sunny Southern Ohio,
Tomorrow is moving day with the movers doing the big stuff. I took this week off to get ready for the move and we're all ready. I got the bedrooms painted, the gas line for the dryer and the dryer exhaust vented properly, put up 4 ceiling fans and moved a bunch of boxes. I also planted several perennials we bought cheap at Lowes on the discount rack. My bride has been busy boxing up then unboxing. We've had a few meals prepared at the new house. Yesterday was soup beans and cornbread and tonight was beef and noodles. As I was working on one of the fans I heard a rustle out the window and two deer were weeding for me.
Don – Plumbing jobs are usually three trips to the hardware store.
Good Night and may God bless
Jim
Roy, I tried that number today for CTT but it was out of service.
