Good to know everyone is awake.
Good talking to Roy today. Best of luck working through the medical stuff.
Brent your right on what our kids are and are not learing.
Your right, RT, my date is Aug 28th 1990. The day of the Plainfield tornado. Lost 27 people two were friends, one who had been my roommate for 3 years, 500+ hurt 1,100 homes taken. Like a war of a sorts. I did not sign up for it that is for sure.
Got my hairs cut, all of them.
Your right Don, the comment that was made wasn't of malicous intent.

rtraincollector dbaker48 RT, You are spot on!! Nothing at all to be ashamed of! There are many, many days of significance. Unfortunately, if you were to ask, I doubt that very many people would even know what VE Day, or VJ Day is. Or the difference of Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. Don your right very few know the difference between Memorial Day, Armed Forces day, and Veterans day. Armed Forces Day = Day to thank out active military Veterans day = a day to thank our veterans Memorial Day = a day to give thanks/honor who have given the ultra sacrifice to give us our freedom.

Evening All,
I would like to think the comment that was made wasn't of malicous intent.
Ray, I totally forgot about the meet last Sunday. That is a great deal on the signal Bridge.
Bob, The USS Arizona memorial sound really awesome. Hoping we will go to the Gem show in Tucson next Feb.. Would like to see that!
Chief, You need to be careful with the RMSF, your body is going to build an immunity to the medication. Hope it clears up soon.
Plumbing work tomorrow, replacing kitchen fawcett. UGH !!
Don

Hello all
Getting ready to head home soon.
RT - I agree w/ you on that it's often the dates have some personal meaning that one remembers. How about April 19, 1989, which was the date of the USS Iowa turret explosion in which 47 sailors died? There is a distinct possiblity I went thru training w/ someone on the ship. When I volunteered on the ship a few years ago getting her ready for display, I learned the turret had been sealed up since then. I had to routinely pass by the barbette while doing work on the foredeck. Each time I remember getting quiet and contemplative.
On my way to work I also ride by the new USS Arizona memorial on the mall in front of the student union. They have a life size outline of the ship on the ground and have constructed an area near the bridge where there are placed medallions w/ the name and rank of each man lost on the ship. In the center is replica of the ships topmast where one of the original bells rested. The actual bell is mounted in the tower of the student union. The mast has a US flag on it and is lit at night. Every time I pass by this in the dark when things are quiet I think of the events of Dec. 7.
Time to pack up.

RT and Kevin, I haven't forgot D Day but thanks for waking us up. How could we ever forget. I was only 8 years old then. I am forever grateful to all the men and women who have served then and now.

Belated happy birthday to da Chief
Don Baker, saw your buddy Bob at the train meet Sunday. I bought a Lionel signal bridge that I needed like new for $15. Got some rubber tires from the parts guy for large steam engine. They are probably Lionel so I don't know if they work on MTH or not. They were a buck fifty each so I just bought one pair to try.
Hello there.......
Started out to be a quick check in to say how disappointed I am because I heard no mention of D-day anywhere today. Read what RT said and it makes sense...........
Jonadel..........PLEASE stop in more often
Goin to bed.

Thanks Roy, I will call them tomorrow.
Good evening all,
Quiet day at work. Nice weather for walk. Busy with errands and other tasks. Jonadel, good to see you back. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Evenin' boys. Partly sunny & 70 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Wifey and I took a little trip to Oakland today. I like Englanders; she likes the Thomas Kincaid store. Both came home with a little somethin' somethin'. My little nephew is coming to WV tonight, so we might have to get the boy a train ride this week.
Only one person can get me to post in John Deere green. Guess who?
Howdy all. Back from quarterly Dr. Came home to backhoe digging up trees and shrubs. Beginning of Wife's addition on the back of the house [which is already too large]. Taking off brick and window out along dinning room wall. Board up windows. Eventually will be an arch walk through to addition. Tearing off utility room. No washer and dryer for a few months. Going to be a mess for months.: 94 and 42% humidity. Addition has been engineered well. We didn't use a certain engineer from Ohio.
Wow, John is here. Think of you everytime we have a veterans' thing here. God bless you and your group. Got a buddy and his wife who do the same.
Later.
Well summer has arrived. Hot sun this morning. Start drying out.
Jon - retired, cool! Welcome back!
Dennis - I am with you - we just want to run trains!
Doug M - you now da Grillmasta! Crisco on!
Kev - I've been real busy. Need to get with you about the Medicare signup.
Aloha from a sunny and cool Chicago. Good to hear from Jon! Jim, congratulations on your rabbits - I raised them when I was young. Had a big hutch in the backyard. Congrats on the new house too. 8n, I tried the sail rig on a rented Grumman canoe once - I absolutely flew across the lake. It was hard to manage in anything about 4-5 kts. Roy, thanks for the grill advice. I have successfully make kabobs and a pork roast using indirect heat - and the Crisco grill spray. Nothing burnt yet! The Medicare conversation is interesting. It will probably be gone by the time I qualify for it. Happy belated bday to the Chief!

Good morning,
61 heading to 75 here. Wonder if the plumber will show or not. Don't really care either way. A hen turkey is cleaning up under the bird feeder. Grass is already in summer stunt.
Good to hear from you Jon!!!
I know what you are talking about on selling the bike. I only have put less than 100 miles on mine the last two years and have spent $145.00 on INS. Just can't bring myself to sell it.
Wow !
Jon, Glad to hear your doing well! We have done a little traveling, not much though. Good to hear from you.
The Dover race was really good, would like to have seen Larsen win, but there wasn't a loser on the track. It was exciting, IMO.
Tearing up more of the train room for the redesign, hope I get it all back together.
Take care all, and be safe!
Greetings from Iowa!! It's been a long while since I've posted even though I've tried several times it just wouldn't work.
Both of us are fully retired now and have been blessed to take some wonderful trips that we always dreamt of and that has been awesome. We still have the trains but about the only time we run them is when the grandkids are here. We still enjoy the hobby and would love to build one more time but I don't think that's going to happen, just can't bring myself to tear this one down.
I'm still riding with the Patriot Guard Riders but last week I put the bike up for sale as I only rode 1,000 miles last year and not much more than that the year before. I'll still participate at military events but in a car for the future. I have continuing problems with my right eye and my depth perception has taken a hit, ugh.
My best to everyone, hopefully this will post.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Very quiet day at work. Very warm weather for walk. Worked on removing honeysuckle growing up among rose of sharon shrub. Still more to do. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening gang!
Still raining but it is supposed to start moving out tomorrow.
Have finally gotten into a cleanup of a room and the garage littered with various train projects. Meant to get it done a couple of months ago. Should be done by Friday.
Also enjoyed the NASCAR race yesterday although it was another green-white-checkered flag finish. Prefer a race vs a drag race.
Morning. Rainy and 74 degrees. Busy day ahead. Hope all are OK.
64 heading to 80 with no rain in the forecast this week. Guess I will put the water tank on the gator for Sandra.
Glad you had a good birthday Chief!
Good NASCAR race yesterday. Not often anymore I am happy with an outcome but when you start at the back and finish in the front, your just plain good!
Jim, 4-H is a good way for them to learn.
Mowed yard. Weather warm. Watched 2nd Detroit race. Daly almost had a top 10 but lost it on the late restart. Still finished 12th and Munoz was 11th. Getting closer to the sharp end of the finish positions. Watched the Honda train tonight. 57 cars headed by 2 engines. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Evening from beautiful Sunny 74°F Southern Ohio,
Thanks guys for the words for the rabbits. The kids took it all real well. I guess one of benefits of 4-H is the kids understand there are pets and there are livestock and death is part of raising animals.
I assisted at the first Sunday Mass of a good friend we've know all his life who was ordained to the priesthood last week. Fantastic service. His mom and dad had their wedding rings made into the chalice they gave him for an ordination gift. Their rings were on the tapered part of the stem. It was beautiful from a symbolic as well from a craftsmanship standpoint.
We got one of the bedrooms painted. The oldest girl (14) helped me as it was her room. She did a very good job.
Got to go
Good night and may God bless
Jim
We took a trip to Michigan over Memorial Day. Nice relaxing time just putzing around our property there for a few days.
I might be a feature on you tube - on Sunday, I tried out the sail rig for our 18' Grumman canoe. I figured out how it went together, but was not too sucessful getting it to work. At least I didn't tip it over - came close a couple of times. Turns out that I was providing entertainment for my wife's cousins. Yes, they took video.
The only train news I've got is that a new second hand store opened in town recently. We discovered that the owner is trying to carry used train things. I picked up a 164 log shed for not too bad a price. Going to have to sop there once a month or so.
Still working on the G gage layout in the freight house at the KATY museum. Should have it running later this month.
About all for now.
fifedog Chief - How big is the box that Buckeye sent you...?
Chief - How big is the box that Buckeye sent you...?
Took Freightliner truck to deliver. You believe that. Got some ocean front propery in AZ I will sell you.
Thanks guys for the good wishes. Hit the local Italian restaurant. They over feed you. Plop plop fizz fizz.
Now to relax and watch TV.
OH, this software stinks. To quote, I do a reply with quote. Can't get curser to appear so I can type. I highlight, copy, go out of that screen, open new post and paste. Everytime.
Have a great week.
to da Chief!
Rain threatening today. Warm.
Nice dinner out last night with neighbors.
Phish - sorry about the baby rabbits.
NASCAR today!
Chief,
