Aloha from a v. cold and sunny Chicago. Everyone's bundled up this morning. I used the underground ped-way and block-long buildings to zig-zag my way to work.

Ah, yes - I remember doing the same thing when I was an intern at Amoco in the Standard Oil building...

Looks like another few inches of snow for the commute home - it's tough to move when it's so far below freezing. Good basement time though. I got Ivor's track all shiney and clean.  8ntruck, my condolences on the passing of your mother-in-law.

Good Morning from cold 18F Southern Ohio,

Did not get to work on the truck yesterday; after Masses we took down all the decorations except the tree in the living room and the outside decorations. Maybe work on them tonight when I get home.

Tinplate- The oldest twin girl does swim and is a cheer leader. She is a strong swimmer. The kids, are really our grandkids, we have legal custody of them. Gabriel and Felicity (13) and Kalie (12).

Buckeye-That cold of yours is really hanging on.

Fife-I agree, the new Star Wars flic is GREAT!

Duty calls, may God bless

Morning all. Time to rize and shine. 28 going to 48 today. Not much planned for today seeing Closing got post-pone I'm guessing until next week sometime. Can't be Friday of this week is all I know as I have DR.'s appointment in Aiken in the morning unless it would be late afternoon like 2 or so.

Shame to hear about David Bowie I wasn't a big follower of his music but it was good.

Hope all have a good Monday it appears old man winter has finally settled in for a while.

Good evening all,

Did very little today.  Went to Mass.  Brought boxes down from the attic.  Wife and I started on a puzzle.  Excitement plus.  Had to recover from Saturday.   Should be quiet day at work tomorrow.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Fifepup and I went to see STAR WARS (imax version).  It was awesome.  Then I hit a loose christmas tree coming home.  Not so awesome.  But then again, the Millenium Falcon hits a lot of christmas trees in the movie.

The Hack, hack, cough, coughIck! would be better if I didn't need to go out in the cold rain which now has turned to wet snow.

Hack, hack, cough cough.

Buckeye, today makes two weeks for me. I can function but it ain’t gone like I would hope by now.  Ick! Wife also has started. Tongue Tied

I don't know where they came up with 13 for a high today unless it was at midnight. It is 6 right now out there. Went and got some beer and check the roads. Even though we did not get much snow the east west roads are drifting in. UGH!

Good morning from a cold and white North Bluff. COLD  10 heading to 13 for the high. The bulk of the snow slid to the east and south so we ended up with about 2" that is fine with me.

Sending it to points east. Cat is in the house!

Speaking of repairs,

Back in the day working at Cat I did major tear downs on 988s and many other wheel loaders. You can only imagine all the work and routing that was involved. The first thirty eight 988Gs they made all had to have their engines removed, then taken apart and the balancing gears replaced. Someone had mis-marked the alignment marks on them. Surprise

8N sorry for your loss. God bless. Angel

Mornin' boys.  Damp and 54 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Spent better part of yesterday boxing up ornaments while watching playoffs.  Found myself pulling for the Steelers (I'm sure Brent will cut and paste this...) with the actions of the Bengals players and fans.

Phish - You may have an uphill battle this morning.  Don't wear any yellow...

Good Morning from wet 44F Southern Ohio,

Temps are to drop all day and maybe snow.  We'll see.

Oldest girl had a swim meet yesterday.  Her team won the meet and she won her race and the relay she was on won their race too.  This is her first year swimming being in 7th grade and she swims so smooth.  Her coach is doing a real good job.

8ntruck-My sympathies for your loss.  May God have mercy on her soul, and may the family unite in this time of mourning.

V8-The injector job is complicated by a lot of stuff in the way, and cramming 6.6 liters of motor under the hood!  I'm fortunate for several ratchet extensions, wobble heads, universals and a garage to work in.

Time to leave for Masses on the West side of the county

May God bless

Just rolled home tonight after a trip to Michigan that started the Wednesday before Christmas.  Mixed trip.

We had good family gatherings, even got together unexpectedly with members of my family that we have not seen in a while.  Met a grand nephew for the first time - he is 18 months old.  Interesting kid.  He was mugging up to all of the nurses in mom's nursing home when we were there.

On the down side, we took my wife's mom back into the hospital the Saturday after Christmas.  She went downhill during the week, passing early in the morning on Jan. 3.  This extended the trip for another week to make funeral arrangements and conduct the funeral.  My wife is still in Michigan for another week or two to help get her brother started on his duties as the exectuor and probably help negotiate with the other siblings.

All for now.  I'm beat.  Going to soak in the tub, then go to bed.  Will catch up on the pot tomorrow.

Good evening all,

A good day.  A long day.  Wife and I took the 2 oldest grandkids to the WGHOT show in Indy today.   Much bigger than the one that was here a few years ago.  So many dealers that I just glanced at stuff.  Talked to people from Bachmann, MTH, Lionel and Walthers.   Then went to mall so granddaughter could go American Girl store and grandson to LEGO.   After that, Half Price Books.  After dropping them off, we went to Menards for some 15% off bag items.   Got home at 9:30 PM.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Busy weekend so just a quick drop by.

Temps dropping. Good fireplace weather. This winter is not as brutal as last so hopefully the firewood will last this year/season.

Stay warm and dry all!

Hello there,

breakfast over. Rainy and cool here so the outside decorations will wait for a better day . Inside stuff will stay awhile. Still lots to do around the house while keeping one eye on the PA Farm Show on tv.

Later

 Prayers for those in need

Good morning from damp and 40F Southern Ohio,

I was in Buckeye's back yard last night for a meeting, but figured he needed his rest and didn't drop by. We got home about 1 am so I'm running a little behind.

KRM-Thanks.  The job is going along pretty good so far.  The passenger side is done and I torqued the injectors down on the driver's side yesterday afternoon before we left for Columbus.  Now it us putting everything back together properly.  We're going to the oldest's girls swim meet today so it will be late before I get started on it. The truck is not a daily driver so it can be out of service with no time pressure to get it finished.

I hope everyone starts feeling better.  May God bless

Mornin' boys.  Soggy and 43 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Found a package of O gauge chain in the fake jewelry section of JoAnn's.  Marketed under Blue Moon Beads, it comes in 100 in length and sells for $5.  The black links look great with my new Allis Chalmers equipment, but is a bit hard to secure without some type of s-hooks.  In the floral section, they have a lot of shadow box details, mostly suitable for G or Standard gauge, but some of it would be usable on an O gauge layout.

Anyway, decompressed downstairs running the 2026 (Mid-Atlantic Merchandiser) on Line 1, and the 2055 (West Allis Extra) on Line 2.  Had both Lionel animated cabooses (cabeese?) running, and it was neat watching them bringing up the markers in the blue light.

Life's short/ run 'em fast!

Aloha. Turning foggy. I like Sophos and Dr. Web for antivirus - Avast is great too. All free. Gosh, that makes sense about the snow on the top of the boat, and the mold issues with shrinkwrap. I think the marina where my friend stores his boat with the tarp has a service where they poke the snow off when it comes down. There's still a sailboat moored in Montrose harbor - I pass it on my way to work. But Lake Michigan isn't frozen yet.

Good morning from a cold, foggy and damp North Bluff.
Got bonked on a e-bay ALCO 210 purchase, Bang Head but you can’t hit a home run every time. It’s pinion gears are shot and bind the motor up so back to square one.  Tongue Tied

Hope the injector swap goes smooth for you Jim.
Awful quiet on here.
Have a good day

Good morning from wet 40F Southern Ohio

Spose to rain all day but it is warmer.  That is good as I'm in the garage working the injectors on the truck.  Got past the most common trouble spot being the 5mm cap bolts that hold the valve cover on as they commonly strip out and very tight access by the firewall. Hopefully by the end of the day I'll be putting it all back together.

Grandson had a good game last night. He has really improved, I'm anxious to see how this carrys over to football.

RT-Someting is coming your way

Another cup of joe to clear the head

May God bless

Finally finished up my repairs on a #8204 C&O steamer this week, so it is now smoking again like it hasn’t since I was a child – that’s one powerful little engine.  Now on to the tender which has Mighty Sound of Steam.  Thought I fried the board by running it before disassembly (only to find the insulating foam had disintegrated), but was getting enough random sounds out of it to want to keep digging.  Turns out the copper contact plate for the power pickup had lost most of its spring and only randomly kept contact with the pickup roller.  Now on to figuring the best way to address it: engineer something to put some life back in the copper plate or try and find a replacement truck insert.

Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Surprisingly, all my ideas were approved at work today.  Went for a good walk.  Used the heating pad tonight.  Weather was nice for this time of year.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
