Good evening all,

Good day at work.  One of the pains was gone again today so it was quiet and enjoyable.  Meeting tomorrow could be turbulent.  Thought there might be soccer tonight, but no one was there so I came home.   Just as well.   Leg is doing better.  Weather was nicer today.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all from cool (to get down to 20F tonight) Southern Ohio,

Only got about 5 hours of sleep today as I needed to pick up the youngest from school as the bride had the twins at a doctor's appointment. The extra time did allow me to start on the fuel injectors on the driver's side of the truck. So much stuff to move out of the way. I take lots of pictures and lable everything as I take stuff apart. Intercooler piping, radiator hoses, electronic harness' fuel supply and return lines, A/C compressor, glow plug module, all before you even get to the valve covers! No wonder the shop rate for an injector job is about $2000 in labor.

Chief-Thanks for posting the pictures. That brings back a lot of fond memories!

Mike-Talk about cascading injuries! Do you find it takes longer for us to heal as we get older? My shoulders and knees prety much always hurt these days.

Fife- I do the same with our fifth wheel camper. Once we close it up for the season I check on it every month to make sure all is in order. That reminds me, time to check on it. May do that on the way home in the morning.

Bill-Great talking with you this evening.

Duty calls- Good night and may God bless

Jim

Evening all!

Chief - glad you found those pics. For all - Note the beaver sneaking up on da chief with a big surprise. Used some fiber optic strands, LED, and a simple timer circuit to make the fuse on the dynamite to "sparkle". Fun project.

Cloudy and 40's here today so pretty dreary. Supposed to rain tonight then clear tomorrow. 60's next couple of days and then back to 40's and cold/20's nights for weekend.

Fife - nice rig there. You and a couple of others are right. Wrapping boats brings other problems with moisture and mold. Particularly in early spring. Wrapping is ok if you put a blower or ventilation or the boat is under cover. Obviously it works for a lot of folks, but if you mold up a boat if is extremely hard to eradicate due to all the inaccessible voids, nooks, etc., in a vessel with a fused hull.

Have you got your Powerball ticket? I do Cool Drinks

Have a busy weekend so may not post.

Regards, Roy

Afternoon Fellas

Had a very enjoyable night with the kiddos last night. TheQ had one of her online board meetings and Christina wanted tacos for dinner, so Daddy loaded up the kiddos and went into town to get tacos, then back home to eat. After dinner we watched Inside-Out, if you have little ones I highly recommend it. Very insiteful about how we think as children and parents. The kiddos and I got some pretty good laughs out of it, did not know if they would understand what the movie was portraying, but they did get it.

I find it interesting how much work it is when your insurance changes. Every provider has to be informed, which results in new paperwork when you visit the first time, and to top it off our FSA provider changed as well... new online accounts, new settings, more usernames and passwords to remember... ugh.

Lots of rain yesterday and more coming today.  So far no problems at home.

Wife went to dentist yesterday and was told she has a bad moler.  He said you could spend upwards of 2K for root canal and crown and still have no guarantee of saving it.  Recommends having it pulled.  Thanks, we didn't have enough problems already.  I'm afraid since she has dementia that she is not doing a good job of brushing.  One more thing I have to watch.

Guy coming on Friday to install new gates on driveway.  New drapes sometime after that.

Friend Larry is leaving for 10 day Carribean cruise tomorrow.  He is part of the band for the trip.  Hope he gets better weather than here.

Marx to Lionel. If the Marx truck doesn't bother you just remove the Marx coupler and a Lionel coupler assembly will fit right on the axles.

Boat owner. I often wondered if a sealed cover held moisture inside the boat. I just used a waterproof cover on my outboards. Different situation though with mast involved.

cnw1995 - It's all about the weight of the snow.  Too much, and the jackstands can become unstable.  Too much in the slip, and the thru-hulls above the water line can get compromised.  And I've seen the shrinkwrapped boats have their share of problems too.  Wet snow will stick to anything.  And thieves aren't thwarted by shrinkwrapped vessels either.  If you do wind up purchasing a "good ol' boat", just check on it after every big weather event; common sense.  Similar article in January Spinsheet.

Stay foamy my friend. Pirate

Aloha from a sunny and cold Chicago. I enjoyed hosting my young nieces who unexpectedly came downtown yesterday - I thought they were in school already but they start today - so I took them to lunch like a good uncle. The bride let me pick out the new washer - I got one that looks like it is repairable instead of all-electronic.

Fife, what a beauty of a boat. I guess we get some much snow that they have to be covered here or stored inside (like the Catalina 14.2 I rent).

Tinplat, I've done the same with Lionel, Marx and Hornby couplers. Good luck.

tinplatacis, It can be done. We did one years ago when we were kids to pull Lionel cars with our Marx engines. Don't know what ever happened to it. We also put a Marx coupler on a Lionel box car.

27 going to 38 today. Sub 0 this weekend.  Tongue Tied

Looked at my minute collection of tinplate this morning and had a random thought: how would that 258 (late version) look with a Marx wedge tender? So I lined them up, and it looks pretty decent. Has anyone ever mounted Lionel trucks and couplers to one of them? I might try doing that in the future.

Hello there, haven't taken time to post. Tired as he** but wide awake. Chief. ...so sad to hear about that. Makes you wonder how anybody could consider that.  As far as your difficulty with the forum software it may be browser related. I use Firefox on phone and PC and have no problems.

Winter is finally here. A breezy 8 this AM. Colder but no wind tomorrow.

Spent last two evenings nursing ingrown toenail repair on left big toe. Tonight it feels better than it has for weeks.

Tomorrow is Epiphany. I'll start to think about undoing Christmas. Probably do most of it over the weekend. Tree and trains will stay at least till the end of the month unless it starts to shed to much .

Gonna try to get some sleep.

Prayers for those in need.

PS.  made a liar out of me on the font thing

Good evening all,

Good day at work despite the both the pains being back.   Got a lot more done than expected.  Stur-fish, troubles with legs started with shin splints and moved on to tendonitis and then a ham string pull, most of which was soccer related.   Been resting a lot and now have figured out heating pad is best path to recovery.  Left leg is 100% and right hopefully will be so soon.   Sunny but cold in Hoosier land.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all from cool (mid 30's) Southern Ohio,

It is clear and going to get into the teens again tonight. My bride went to a swim meet to watch oldest girl swim, and I played some basketball with the boy, fed him and his little sister then dropped them off at other grandparents on my way to work. Run run run

Fife-Thant is a nice boat!

Chief- So sad, may God have mercy on their soul. As for the beavers, know any trappers that may want them for the pelts? My trapping buddy says fur prices are really down, but someone may be interested.

RT-Great find on the corral. And that is why we search! A great piece and no work to be done on it.

Refurbing that Marx set (which I may keep and find another for the school auction)and restoring the 58 Street light reminded me how much I enjoyed working on the trains and accesories.

Good night and may God bless

Jim

High today was 34.  Dropped to 32 by 3 PM.  28 now.  Was downtown Raleigh at noon for the Big Easy [Cajon food].  UMMM  Worth the two block walk in the COLD.

Fifey, good looking Yatchet.

Brent, figured you would say something like that about the Mom.  I have always said, "Your two kids are the luckiest kids in the world."  They will always get the best and be treated so good.

Buckeye had the beavers flown and parachuted in.  They must be of the Southern variety.  They did not do a lot of rebuilding since yesterday.  Pond was at normal pool for the winter.  Means it dropped 2 feet in two and a half days.  Maybe they have figured out that the guy with the big Sig will shoot them.  Also, don't like the cold.  Usually rebuild during the nights.  Too cold last night.

Later.

Good Afternoon All !

As others have said it is a bit soggy out here, so far a nice steady rain although they have issued some flash flood warnings for areas a few miles NW of here. Don't know which is worse, potential mud slides & flash floods inland or down on the coast where they are worried about some higher than normal tides and as much as 15' surf. Bang Head

Fortunately football season is over for San Diego, definitely for the year and probably forever. L.A. Chargers or the Carson Chargers ? Who Cares ! Guess that means we will be looking forward to

Play Ball !

Fife , Loved that photo. When I was but a wee lad I used to love going down to Pope's Creek down by the bay. Always had a good time crabbing off the dock.

Got all the Christmas train stuff serviced and put away til next year. Now the issue is convincing the BetterHalf that it is time to put all the other stuff away. Maybe by this time next week. Smile, Wink & Grin

Time to get back to work.

Later all.

cnw1995 - Nope, not covered in the 7 years I've owned it.  Good coat of wax each spring commissioning has kept the gel-coat looking smart.  Top-sides need a new coat of Kiwi-Grip this year.  Marina owner's wife took this shot of yatchet a week before it went up on the hard.

Good morning all,

Rain has started here in ernest.  Started slowly early this morning and has been raining steady for the last hour at 10:00AM.  They say we will have rain off and on all week plus snow in the mountains.

Wife has dental appointment at Noon so we will miss caregiver and patient visit to our meetings today.

I need to get a couple more sand bags to safegard the crack under the garage door in case the water over runs the drainage trench in front of it.  Usually this only happens if we have a power failure and sump pump behind garage stops.  Then the water will back up around the side of the garage and could get under the garage door but this has only happened twice in 40 years.  All my trains and related stuff is up on tables about four feet above the floor.

Biggest worry here is for mudslides in the houses a few blocks North of us in the burned areas.

Dry blowing snow.

May want to use something other than a blow dryer?

Big news!!!!  Beavers are back at the pond.  been destorying their dam in the spillway.  They had damed it up and pond was two feet high than suppose to be.  All the rain had caused it to flood the path.  In just a few weeks, they have built a lodge.  Now I go each day and destroy the dam.  Will now have to shoot them.  Last episode, they were coming from down stream at night and rebuilding.  After two weeks of me destroying the dam, they quit.  Since they have moved in, shooting is the only way I can get them out.  Friend Fred tried to trap them last year.  Didn't work

This saga is quite entertaining... bet Buckeye is getting a chuckle or two.

Other sad news.  We released the final results of the fire just before Christmas.  Mom doused her and kid in gasoline and lit it.  We think she had killed kid just before.  Not sure.  Big explosion.  Sad.

These stories do nothing but enfuriate me. Why do people, parents none-the-less, find it necessary to harm other people (much less children)? If you are that bad off just do yourself in, leave other people out of your issues/mess.

---
In other news:

Took Matthew to the dentist this morning. Kid better learn to like it or he is going to end up with dentures at age 14. Bang Head The hygenists are very nice and pretty and he acts like a crazy kid. So not like him. Typically he flirts with the ladies, just not at the dentist office.

Made Dr Appt for tomorrow to get checked to see if I can come off some meds. Really hoping losing 20lbs gets me off the BP med.

Have to start taking down Christmas decorations. Hope to get the basement cleaned up so I can start working on some projects.

Morning all.

Doug reason I said that a friend completely tore apart his mother's dishwasher trying to figure out why it didn't work and a breaker had tripped earlier in the day. ( we never let him live that down )

I bidded on a cattle car and corral set on the bay the other night buy it now $43 it said all show and more. when I got it it had the original box, original paper work, original car in original box, the insert, the evenlope with all the clips, switch only thing missing was the 3 pieces of wire ( which I have the original type around here in a box) original box of 9 cows and a original box of 9 horses other than the outer original box it all look excellant to top it off. None of the rest on there didn't even come close for double the money so I got a deal on that and very happy

Not much else going on waiting for wife to get ready for us to goto Wally-World.

Talk to you all later

Morning.  Cold.  Sir J left the door open.  25 degrees.  Better than 80 in the winter.  Acutally, Buckeye sent snow yesterday afternoon and thenlast night.  Both events lasted about an hour.  Dry blowing snow.  Nothing stuck.

Aloha. Sunny and cold this morning - just as it should be in Chicago. Fife, do you cover the yachett? I helped my sailing instructor cover his 35 ft boat when it was out of the water - it was custom-made and he goes through one every few years! I'd like to go to the Chicago Sail show - it's combined with an RV / outdoor show.

RT, thanks for the reminder to check the power. This GE washer gave me 15 good years. Last night, I took it further apart and found the braces the tub sits on finally just corroded away. No parts available. Ah well.

Good Morning from cold (18F) and clear Southern Ohio. It is to get up to 34F and be sunny. I'll spend the first part of it in bed because I'm back on nights!

Bride asked when we're going to start taking down the Christmas decorations, I may start today after I get up.

Mike-You have spoke of leg issues since I've started back at the pot; what happened?

Bob-I finished the Lamp post last night. It looks neat and works good. I see if I can get a picture of it if I remember what my daughter told me what to do. I lost my notes!

West Coasters- Looks like you're in for some wet weather, stay safe.

May God bless

Hello all

We are getting our first in a series of storms for this week. Already 6+" of snow on the ground out there and more coming down.

Fife - is a toe rail like baseboard molding?

I was thinking it's a good thing the Chief doesn't live in Michigan or he'd have to deal w/ wolverines in his yard!

JimS - that #58 lampost looks pretty neat
