Good morning,

It is 10 degrees and snowing right now here in Dayton, OH.  I love the cold and snow and look forward to going outside to shovel.  Unfortunately, I have to fly to Florida today for work and will return this Saturday, by then all the snow will be gone.  Our school district is a walking district (no buses) so our kids never have a snow day or a delay.  It is nice and it allows for fall, winter, and spring breaks in addition to the regular holidays time off.  I hope you all have a great day.

SJ - I quickly glanced online at the new Lionel RTR catalog.  It has many neat offerings.  I'll have a deeper look at it and the Signature catalog while I'm in the airport.

BOC, How you doing on your menu searches ? Since I do all the cooking it has been fairly simple for us. I use my old recipes and just change the ingredients. Initially it was either fresh or frozen for veggies but now some canned stuff is available with no added salt. Still can't really go out for dinner unless you want to eat rabbit food, salad w/very little to no dressing.

Oh well, just think of it as a challenge.

Anybody heard from the Chief ?

Evening all well my 6440,6440, & 6441 passenger cars came Sad Was not happy at all. Been repainted in the past and not a very good job at that either. Not sure if I'm going to keep them or not have tried contacting the seller with no response so I more or less got ebay involved now waiting for seller to reply determining what he offer either return or partial refund will determine if I keep them or return them. Could be fun to redo them but would need good size refund on original price.

Other than that Midnight he's hanging in there don't ask me how as he's not eating but is drinking so guess thats what is doing it. Wish I could get him to eat a little at least enough to give him some stregnth.

Not much else going on hope all had a good day you all up north take cover for the weekend were getting cold weather but not like what your going to have.

Talk to you all later

Evenin' All

Today was pretty much a veg-out day. The Kid's Club "Fun Run" yesterday went great, no major catastophies. Most of the day we had two trains to a main at a time using DCS and TMCC. Now we are discussing the possibility of setting up an instructional session of running two at a time in opposing directions, that should be a quadrupple Excedrin day.

Finally convinced the BetterHalf that it was time to take down the Tree, sure glad we bought an artificial one some years back although I do miss the smell. A center piece on the table and a wreath help but still lacking.

Sounds as though you Easties are in for some weather by the weekend. Stay safe and warm.

Nite all.

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  One pain was gone, so the other was quiet for the most part.  Still was annoying at times.   Got most everything done today that I could.  Snow may keep me home the rest of the week.  That would be such a shame.....not.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from a cold 8F Southern Ohio

Kids had a two hour delay and are off to school now.  Got most decorations put in the loft yesterday with the boy's help.  The second story stuff will need to wait.  Going to finish cleaning up the garage and putting everything away from the injector job.

RT-So much paperwork over so many days. You'd think they could assemble all the paperwork and sit and sign at one time.

Spank- Do you have a permanent layout at home?

Roy-Thank you for the information about routers.  I know nothing about them and I'm benefiting from your knowledge.  Our previous router was a 5 year old LinkSys and with the addition of wireless printer, iPads, computers, we were putting too much demand on the system I think.

Need to get started.  It is as warm as it's going to get.

May God bless

Good evening all,

Very cold today.  Did get the oil changed on the minivan and paid some bills.  Had lunch with my former supervisor at the factory I worked at.   Ran some trains as well and got the tree back upstairs.  I see where Lionel is supposed to release new catalogs this week.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all!

Long day. Relaxing with the evening news and an adult beverage Drinks

Started out in the 20's this morning and starting today we are returning to normal high 50s/high 30's for the week.

Phish - good luck with the network. One would think home networking gear would be plug and play (it ain't) and more reliable (definitely not). Due to our home network with 4 - 6 wireless (pcs, iPads, & smartphones) and 10 wired devices (printers, security system, blu-Ray, etc.) connected with an 8 port switch, wireless router (4 port), and a cable modem (wireless disabled as everything changes if it dies and a new one is always different model/brand) it is not possible to simply plug and play. The wife and I are both home officed. With interference from neighbors systems, I gave up on wireless (I.e. Printers, scanners, blu-Ray) other than just PCs, iPads, & Smartphones as speeds would not stay consistent. So I ran cable throughout the house and resolved the speed reliability for the critical devices. Had to learn more about router settings than I ever cared about. I always buy LinkSys wireless routers as their admin interface has stayed very consistent for many years so setup of a new one is simplified. Not saying they are the best (they were when they were owned by Cisco), but consistent.

Ray - it is rare in my neighborhood for power to go out for more than a few minutes. Substation is adjacent to the neighborhood and all our power is underground except for the lines from the substation to a few neighborhood entry points. When it does go it is always due to an idiot running  off the road next to the substation hitting one of the few power poles to us and then the power just reroutes through one of the redundant feeds. We are lucky on this, particularly when there are ice storms.

RT - you are right - don't try this at home ! Lol. Good luck on the house closing.

The Plano TX train show last weekend was excellent with lots o' kids running our trains on our Lionel style modular, modified with short legs so the little ones can see without being hoisted by their parents.

Stay warm and dry all! Have a great evening!

New drapes were hung today.  Also, power company shut off power about 4 hours.  Lights back on for now.  Used neighbors generator for power.

Getting ready for another session with physical therapy this afternoon.  Neck and right arm has been hurting all day.  Hope they can do something about it.  Doctors office closed today for MLK holiday.

Went out to lunch to get where the power was on.  First place was packed so we went to a second choice but it wasn't bad.  Looks like rain possible tonight.  Skies are dark at 2:30PM.

later,

Ray

Good afternoon,

I am still alive and doing well, just busy.  So sad to read that blog about RMT.  Today's high was 12 degrees, but that didn't stop me from getting a 3-mile run completed.  I didn't have to work so I went for my run around 0900 and it was 9 degrees.  It was sunny though.

RT - I hope you are feeling better and that the house paperwork speeds up.

SJ - I'm sure you cannot wait for spring.

Morning all not a lot going on here. Still waiting to get some paperwork signed so we can move forward on the closing of the house. Once that's done the place will be ours. ( well technically anyway) then just 120 payments more and it is ours. (10 years ) hope to pay it off in about 1/2 that but you never know when things pop up.

Midnight well he made it thru the night is all I can say and drank a little water but that was it then went back to bed. It's sad watching him walk he is so stiff like from age I know it will tear me up but I also think it's his time and it will end his suffering of old age he is alert thou so who knows all I know he won't eat right now.

A cold -2 on The North Bluff above Marseilles today.

Day two of one or the other grand kids that we see. Yesterday was the 2 year old Jordan, last night and today it is the 5 year old Lexi.

Well Lexi just got up and she is eating. She slept with Sandra and George (the cat) slept with me. I think Lexi wanted to be in the room with the humidifier. Sandra is now watching TV in bed.

They were both tired and did not get to bed till almost 10:00 So we all slept in.

The plan today is to stay warm. I will take her home this afternoon.

Have a good day.

Good Morning from a cold 8F Southern Ohio,

Roy-Thank you for the router info and advice

RT-I didn't know the connection between cats and the sense of smell.  Hopefully she'll rebound

L88R-Sounds like you had fun

I'm off today and so is the rest of the family.  Bride was commenting this is the first holiday we all were off at the same time all year, and she was right.

Going to clean up the garage and put decorations away today.  Snow on the roofs so the second story lights will wait another day.

Stay toasty! May God bless

Brent sorry to see Pitt go down as liked them to ( growing up in PA and never being a Eagles fan) But I atleast still have the Carolina Panthers will see on how long the last now I hope all the way to the bowl but don't hold my breath on it.

Not much going on here our oldest cat I think is going on he's 21-22 years old we have had him since early/mid 90's he was a year old or so when we got him according to the vet we have had him since 1995 he's drinking but thats it he isn't eating. so it's a matter of time as when cats loose there taste/smell they normally don't eat as it tells them if its good.they go by smell basically from my understanding thats why if a cat gets a cold or bad allegry a lot of times they don't make it as they can't smell the food so they don't want it.

Evenin' Fellas

Well Football Season is now officially over. YEAH!

Fife - What is princess doing in The City of Steel?

The past week has been quite 'interesting'. Not sure of the day of occurances any more LOL
1. TheQ tore the passenger mirror off her CX9 while backing it out of the garage (somehow this kind of turned into my fault and therefore my responsibility to get fixed - but she paid for the repair)
2. Took the center cabinet out of the credenza where I have setup my workstation for work - this after jambing my knee into the side of the drawer face at least 10 times
3. Finished moving the princess's room from the old nursery to the back spare room across the hall from the prince. This was quite the escapade seeing that it was done over 3 weekends - yeah I could have done it in one day had it not been for the project manager not having a clue how this was going down, the project supervisor only being 4 years old and have an opinion about everything, and wanting to talk about 1,000,000 subjects totally unrelated to 'the move'. Well had to have Comcast come out and run cable from the old spare room to the new spare room so our guests can watch TV when they visit, only to find out that Comcast doesn't run wire down the wall cavities any more - but they will drill holes through your siding and into the room from the outside and run the wire along the outside of the house (do not get me started). Well the tech put the three way splice in the attic and put cable in the attic for the drops. I ran one into Matthew's room for later use, and the one to the new spare room. I did not think that one through as I decided to drop the cable down the cavitiy of the outside wall (completely forgetting there is fiberglass insulation in that there wall)... anyway I now have a 1/2 hole in the ceiling to fix, but now have cable in every room of the house.
4. can't remember the rest of them now... LOL
